-Chapter One Hundred and Fifty-Four-

"When we sailed in just now, I couldn't help but notice an abundance of abandoned material lying around" Robin pointed out.

"You don't say? Well, that gives me a great idea" Usopp grinned, quickly motioning for us to come closer so he could whisper his plan. "Well?" he asked the minute he drew back, chest puffed out in pride when he saw the wide grins we wore

"Yeah!" we nodded.

-Later-

When night rolled around and the disguise that Usopp had made for the ship was finished, we found ourselves ready to finally put our plan to get back the gold into action.

"Well, what do you think, guys? Not bad if I do say so myself—at least we don't have to worry about the Merry being stolen again, right?" Usopp proudly grinned as he showed off the result of his hard work in making the perfect disguise for the Merry.

"Looks alright to me" I nodded, it wasn't great...but it also wasn't terrible either—it was just decent enough that at a glance, you probably could believe it was a warship in the dark if you weren't paying close enough attention.

"Gluing paper all over the ship to disguise it? What a great idea" Zoro nodded despite not sounding that confident in the disguise.

"I don't know, guys, it looks like a three-year-old did it" Sanji harshly insulted. "You think that's going to fool anyone for very long?" he asked.

"Yeah, of course, it will! It looks just like one of the Marine warships, no doubt about it!" Luffy grinned.

"It sure does!" Chopper nodded.

"I mean...if you squint really hard it kind of does" I said, attempting to be polite as I didn't really have the heart to tell them that even if the disguise had been done better, the ship could never truly look like any of the warships due to its size.

"You're nuts" Zoro scoffed.

"Great, now all we have to do is get our treasure back" Nami clapped, not caring one way or the other if the disguise was good enough or not—as long as the risk of the Merry being confiscated again was minimized, she didn't care. "Operation Gold Recovery commences at midnight, got it?" she asked.

"Got it!" we nodded.

"Um...why can't we just go right now?" Chopper curiously asked.

"Well because super-secret missions are always better at midnight" Luffy explained.

"Oh, I get it now" Chopper smiled.

"Um...you guys are joking, right?" Usopp asked.

"With those two, it's hard to tell" I truthfully admitted.

"Alright, guys, enough waiting—let's go get our gold back!" Nami ordered once she finally felt the time was right for us to start our operation.

"Yeah!" we nodded.

"Hey, wait a minute" Usopp suddenly piped up.

"What's wrong, Usopp?" Luffy curiously asked.

"Having second thoughts?" I asked.

"We can't just rush off like this—shouldn't we come up with some sort of plan first?" the sharpshooter asked, causing us to blankly stare at him as if it never crossed our minds to really come up with a coherent plan in advance. "Oh great, we're off to a successful start! Don't you think those Marines would notice eight people sneaking around the fortress?" he frowned.

"You got a point there" Zoro nodded.

"I guess it would be a bit too much if we all went in" I agreed.

"And I'm still worried about the Merry too, even though we did disguise her pretty well" Usopp admitted.

"It won't fool them for long though" Sanji pointed out.

"Wait, you don't think so? Why not?" Chopper innocently asked.

"Yeah, don't worry—it looks real" Luffy assured us.

"Yeah, it really does—you're totally right" I deadpanned.

"That hunk of junk? Please" Zoro scoffed.

"Don't you dare call it junk! Besides, that's not the issue here!" Usopp snapped. "Honestly, am I the only member of this crew that thinks about the important things?" he sighed. "Like for instance, come up with a plan to take back what's rightfully ours—that reminds me, you!" he suddenly pointed toward Nami.

"Uh...me?" she nervously echoed.

"What happened to the waver?" Usopp asked.

"Oh crap!" Nami jolted as if it hadn't crossed her mind 'til now that she had taken the waver back when we first split up. "I...I hid it in some tall grass—I forgot..." she sheepishly admitted.

"Do you see what I mean?" Usopp asked.

"Sorry..." Nami nervously chuckled.

"Nami, you're so cute when you forget" Sanji cooed.

"Well, all stupidity to the side, I think it's about time I explain my plan to all of you guys" Usopp dismissively waved. "Okay, listen up—tada!" he grinned as he laid the map of the base out on the floor. "Alright, here's the scoop people, we're going to split up into two teams. First is the Gold Recovery team—it consists of Luffy, Zoro, Robin, and Captain Usopp" he explained. "Team two will be the Waver Recovery team which consists of Nami and her partner, Sanji."

"What an incredible plan, Usopp!" Sanji brightened, already twirling around Nami in excitement. "Can't wait to work with you, partner!" he happily cooed.

"Yeah, yeah..." Nami unenthusiastically muttered as she did her best to ignore the blond.

"What a dumbass..." Zoro grumbled.

"Jerk!" Sanji snapped right back the minute he heard the swordsman.

"What about me?" I curiously piped up, catching everyone's attention as they realized I hadn't been assigned a team. "Who am I going with?" I asked.

"Skylar, you can go with Nami and..." Usopp trailed off the minute he locked eyes with Zoro, shivering the instant he saw the deadly glare that the swordsman was currently giving him. "Why, of course, you can stay here with Chopper" he nervously laughed.

"Stay here with Chopper...?" I mumbled as I peered down at the reindeer before feeling a gentle smile tug at my lips. "Yeah, that doesn't sound too bad" I nodded, not minding staying behind and keeping the little guy company.

"So, Usopp, you're just going to leave Skylar and me alone with the ship?" Chopper whimpered as he crawled onto Zoro's shoulder.

"Hey, don't worry, the Merry's disguised so well—I'm pretty sure you both won't be discovered" Usopp assured us.

"Pretty sure?" Chopper and I sweat dropped.

"And what will happen if we get hurt? We need you both to tend to our injuries, super doctor and assistant" Usopp grinned, causing Chopper's tears to instantly stop as I raised an amused eyebrow.

"Super assistant?" I chuckled. "My, how generous of you to give me such an honorable title."

"You're just trying to suck up to me—it won't work, jerk!" Chopper giggled as he jumped off Zoro's shoulder.

"Alright, guys, this dial represents where we are right now" Usopp said, pointing toward the dial he sat down on the map. "Now the Gold Recovery team will avoid the heavily guarded routes and take the shortest path on the coast of the storage vault" he explained, moving his finger around to trace the best path he thought that team should take. "Now, Nami, do you happen to remember the spot where you hid the waver?" he asked.

"Yes" Nami nodded. "On the eastern side of the island, along this bay here—just the base of these cliffs" she pointed.

"Almost opposite of us, it'll take you guys too long to get there if you go by land" Usopp said as he started to look around. "Ah yes, that should do it—Nami, that boat should get you and Sanji across the bay in a jiffy" he said, pointing toward a boat that was tucked away in the corner of the room.

"Huh?" Nami blinked as turned to look at the boat.

"Oh my, how romantic" I suddenly teased. "A boat ride in the middle of the night just between you and Sanji."

"Shut up..." she grumbled, lightly shoving my shoulder as I giggled while the two of us ignored the love-struck daze Sanji now wore the longer he thought over my words.

"Alright, teams! Let's complete our missions, and then we'll make it back here to the Merry" Usopp huffed as he slapped his hands down on the map to grab our attention once more. "Got it?" he asked, looking around to see if anyone had any objections.

"Yeah!" we nodded with no complaints.

-Later-

"I hope they get back soon because it gets lonely here..." Chopper quietly mumbled as I helped him in making his medicine. "N-not that your company isn't great, Skylar!" he flinched as if scared that he had unintentionally offended me with his words once he realized I was still here beside him.

"It's alright, I'm not going to get mad just because you feel lonely" I said, looking up from the ingredients I was stirring and grinding down into a fine powder. "I do agree though—things sure our quiet here since it's just the two of us..." I mumbled, noting just how eerily silent it was without the rest of the crew here to fill the noise. "I don't like it" I admitted.

"You don't?" Chopper curiously asked.

"No...I guess when you get so used to how loud the others are, hearing nothing but pure silence can be rather...unnerving..." I said, aware of just how rare it was for things to be this quiet whenever the rest were around. There was always some kind of commotion happening when they were around, something I hadn't noticed 'til now as I tilted my head back and stared up at the high ceiling of the dock. "But then again, I never really liked pure silence...it can be quite terrifying when things are too quiet, almost as if something bad is about to happen..." I muttered.

"I guess you're right—do you regret not tagging along?" Chopper asked, frowning just a little even though he tried his best to hide it.

"Nah, not really" I truthfully told him, shaking my head. "Why would I ever want to pass up on a chance to spend some alone time with a cutie like you?" I softly cooed as I reached over and patted the top of his head.

"Shut up! I'm not cute, you jerk!" Chopper embarrassingly laughed, clearly flattered by my compliment as I softly chuckled.
