-Chapter One Hundred and Sixty-Four-

"Yes, we're alright" Robin assured the doctor.

"What the heck happened out there?" Luffy frowned.

"I'd like to know the same thing" Nami said, dumbfounded by the sudden loss she and the others had suffered.

"We all like to know what happened—did we lose somehow?" Usopp asked, at a loss just like the rest on what had happened there near the end.

"Looked like you were going to win, but then you suddenly slowed down and they passed you" Luffy answered, telling them what he had seen as I gently patted the sulking sharpshooter's back in an attempt to comfort him.

"Slowed down? That's strange—why would you guys slow down?" I frowned, confused by this sudden revelation. "Did you hit something?" I asked, trying to reason why they would suddenly slow down there near the end despite being so close to the finish line.

"There's nothing strange about that, it was caused by my Slowmo Photon!" Foxy suddenly and proudly boasted.

"Hey! What did you do to Nami's team, you smug bastard?!" Sanji growled.

"What's a Slowmo Photon?" Luffy curiously asked.

"They are particles unlike any other in modern science, whatever this light touches—be it an animal, a liquid, or even a gas—loses a fixed amount of its velocity" Foxy explained, his hand no glowing a light pink. "While simultaneously retaining all its energy" he added.

"You're dumb, that makes no sense at all" Luffy frowned.

"Nice insult there, captain" I sweat dropped as I couldn't tell if the captain's insult was because he was mad at the other captain for making our team lose or because he truly didn't understand what the man was saying.

"He just insults me..." Foxy sulks, dropping to his hands and knees in a fit of depression.

"Ah! Sir, are you okay?!" Porche worriedly asked, quick to rush to her captain's side.

"No way, something that ridiculous is…" Nami mumbled in disbelief.

"Impossible? Is that what you're thinking?" Foxy asked, quick to pick himself back up as his smug posture came right back as if it had never left to begin with. "Surely you know that such a naïve, childish claim has no meaning out here on these waters" he said. "Everything it touches slows down—that's the power of Slowmo Photon!" he boasted.

"Now that makes sense, why didn't you say that before?" Luffy huffed.

"He did" I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose.

"After I ate the Slow Slow Fruit, I became a slow-motion man capable of producing these particles from my body—observe" Foxy said as a cannonball was shot straight at him. Lifting his hand, a pink light shot out and enveloped the cannonball—instantly slowing its speed to that of a snail's pace.

"Ah! A floating cannonball!" Usopp screamed in shock.

"The Slow Slow Beam!" Foxy laughed. "The effects last approximately thirty seconds, in which the object will regain its energy speed as if nothing ever happened" he grinned. "Can't believe your eyes, I take it—" he was cut off by the cannonball finally touching the tip of his nose and exploding on impact.

"Boss! Oh no!" Porche worriedly cried.

"I get it, so that's why we didn't win the race" Usopp realized.

"Kind of a cheap tactic, don't you think?" I asked, scratching the back of my head.

"It also explains why they're so confident about the games" Sanji said as he finally understood where the other crew's confidence suddenly came from. "What a joke of a Devil Fruit power" he scoffed.

"It doesn't matter, you guys lost!" Porche angrily snapped. "You know all the rules and agreed to the terms" she grinned.

"The Donut Race is over and we are the winners!" Foxy boasted, quick to recover from the explosion he just took to the face.

"Too bad for you guys" Porche mocked.

"That concludes Round One, and now we shall commence with the awarding of the prize!" Itomimizu announced. "The winning captain will select a member from the opposing crew!" he reminded us.

"Right...the prize..." I muttered as I shifted closer to Zoro who instantly reached out and took hold of my hand upon being reminded of the prize selection.

"My first selection is none other than you, the doctor—Tony Tony Chopper!" Foxy laughed as he pointed right at the reindeer. "Bring him to me at once!" he demanded as two of his men now carried the struggling reindeer over to him.

"Oh no, Chopper!" Nami gasped.

"Don't you dare think about hurting him!" I snapped, harshly glaring at the men who dragged our reluctant doctor away while practically having to hold myself back from doing anything irrational.

"Such a rare creature—you're even softer than I imagined you'd be" Foxy praised, hugging Chopper close as Porche hastily rushed over to him—loudly gushing over just how adorable the reindeer was.

"Boss, may I hold him too?" she asked before squealing in delight as she loved up on the reindeer the minute he was handed over to her.

"You're so damn cute, and he's ours now!" Foxy laughed as Chopper started to scream and struggle against the woman's hold on him.

"Be careful with him!" I scowled, not liking the way the doctor started to cry.

"Chopper!" Luffy worriedly shouted.

"So that creep had his eyes set on Chopper, huh?" Sanji frowned. "Well, I suppose he is among the rarest of rare animals" he reasoned, his surprise and confusion for why the opposing captain had chosen the doctor quickly disappearing the longer he thought about how rare and valuable the reindeer possibly was in the eyes of others.

"Or maybe he collects cute things" Nami suggested.

"You know, I wouldn't rule out a fur fetish" Robin said.

"Can we not talk about stuff like that?" I shivered in disgust. "I rather not think about a potential freak like that having Chopper."

"Why does it even matter? Focus people—that freak over there just took our friend!" Usopp snapped.

"You guys!" Chopper cried.

"Alright, Doctor Chopper, enough of all that! You're one of my crew—you need to pledge your loyalty to me, and you can start by putting on this mask!" Foxy grinned, ignoring the doctor's teary eyes as he tied a mask on the reindeer's face so he could match the rest of the man's crew.

"You guys!" Chopper whimpered, already on the verge of tears once again.

"I'm so sorry that we lost, Chopper! We did our best—farewell!" Usopp wailed.

"Try to be strong, buddy! We'll get you back!" I promised as my eyes started to sting, already on the verge of crying alongside the two the longer I listened to the reindeer's watery hiccups. Harshly wiping at my watery eyes in an attempt to stop the tears from falling, I felt Zoro slip a comforting arm around my waist as he continued to drink. He was the only one who looked rather calm about the whole ordeal—the only one not shedding any tears or getting worked up over our sudden loss.

"He's truly a rarity!" Foxy laughed.

"My very own talking reindeer, he's so amazing!" Porche gushed as my tears came back full force at the sound of the others' worry as they started to call out to the reindeer. Each of them just as torn up about the loss as he was.

"H-how can you just sit there and keep drinking?!" I angrily cried, voice quivering as I glared with puffy eyes up at the drinking swordsman who looked so unbothered by everything that was happening. "You're...you're being so insensitive..." I hiccuped, unable to stop the tears from flowing no matter how many times I tried wiping them away. He said nothing, only tightened his hold as I continued to cry alongside the rest.

"You guys, listen!" Chopper cried. "I only went out to sea because of you! I won't—no! I refuse!" he sobbed as he harshly shook his head from side to side. "Luffy, you invited me—I set sail to be one of the Straw Hats!

"I won't go with them!" it broke my heart listening to his broken sobs as he refused to pledge his loyalty to Foxy. "Please, no! I am the ship's doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates—Tony Tony Chopper! I won't go!" I flinched the second Zoro slammed the bottle in his hand down, teary eyes widening as I tensed.

"Quit your belly-aching, Chopper!" he snapped. "It's disgraceful!"

"Zoro?!" Usopp frowned.

"What—"

"You made the choice to set sail as a pirate—only you, and now you have to live with the consequences of that decision! We agreed to the terms of this game—you, Usopp, and everyone else did the best they could!" Zoro firmly stated, cutting me off as he stood. "Not one pirate worth their salt is going to sympathize with those tears, a man would suck it up and quietly watch this game!" he scowled.

"What's wrong with you?!" Nami angrily snapped as I loudly sniffed and began wiping at my eyes once more. "Don't you know how he must be feeling?!" she sneered before stopping when she spotted the look on Chopper's face as he sucked up his tears, puffed out his chest, and firmly sat down without another worried. "Chopper?" she quietly questioned.

"That boy..." Zoro grinned.

"I guess tough love isn't always so bad sometimes..." I sniffed as I stood, lips slowly tugging upward into a wide smile the minute I saw just how brave and mature the reindeer now looked thanks to the swordsman's lecture.

"That swordsman is totally awesome!" someone in the crowd suddenly cheered.

"Alright! You teach them a lesson, Zoro!" Usopp shouted in encouragement.

"Yeah, get Chopper back!" Luffy cheered.

"Please, get him back..." I softly mumbled, looking up at him with pleading eyes before smiling as he leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of my head.

"I will..." he muttered in assurance. "Let's get the second event started!" he demanded, causing the Foxy Pirates to start discussing their next strategy.

"Yeah, we still have two rounds left of this" Sanji nodded. "There's no way we're letting these jerks take our emergency food supply" he grinned.

"Glad to see you're worried about him too, Sanji..." I sweat dropped.

"Sanji, we're counting on you!" Usopp cheered.

"The exchange is complete and the excitement explodes as the Davy Back Fight enters Round Two!" Itomimizu announced while the next game's playing field was being set up.

"Hey, wasn't Chopper supposed to be in the second round? How can he compete if they took him?" Usopp curiously asked, stopping as he realized that our players for this round were down one.
