-Chapter One Hundred and Seventy-

"Hold on a second" Nami butted in, stopping the captain before he could make an official decision.

"What's up, Nami?" Luffy curiously asked, confused by the ginger's sudden interruptance.

"Think about it—their boss is probably going to take part in the next round, right?" she asked.

"Yeah" Luffy nodded, not fully understanding where she was going with this yet playing along all the same as he carefully listened. I raised an eyebrow, curious to know where exactly she was going with this despite having an inkling that I possibly already knew.

"We've already seen what his Slow Slow Beam can do—if he fights, we won't stand a chance in any game no matter what the rules are, so the answer is obvious" Nami pointed out. "If Foxy's going to be our threat in Round Three then we should recruit him so we have the advantage" she suggested. "Sure, we'd all like to get Chopper back, but if we end up losing the next round then they'll probably take him right back and our win will go to waste" she argued, pointing out an obvious flaw none of us had ever really considered. "Since his crew would be dumbstruck when they lose their precious boss, we'll stomp them with no problem and claim Chopper in Round Three—then we're guaranteed to keep him for good, get it?" she grinned.

"No, say it ain't so! They're really going to take our captain away!" Itomimizu gasped.

"That's the Peanut Strategy!"

"You guys are the lowest of the low!"

"Go home, lousy Peanuts!"

"Are you afraid to fight us fair?!"

"Fair?" I questioned with a raised brow. "Sounds strange hearing those words from pathetic lowlifes like you" I scoffed, crossing my arms and glaring at the crowd. How hypocritical of them to cry about fairness when all they've been doing this entire time is cheat and use dirty tricks to get their way.

"Although there are no rules against this strategy, it certainly seems a bit underhanded" Itomimizu admitted. "A little cheating is expected of pirates, but suddenly taking a crew's captain away in the middle of a game is no different than running from a fight!" he huffed, having no shame in admitting to his crew's cheating habits yet still finding the gall to condemn Nami for her plan. "Shame! Shame on you Straw Hats and shame on the heartless devil of a woman who came up with this plan—you're truly a nefarious navigator, Nami!" he berated.

"How dare you talk trash about Nami! I ought to fillet you punks!" Sanji sneered.

"In the long history of Davy Back Fights, no one has ever had the audacity to pull such a lousy no-good stunt!" Itomimizu proclaimed which I found a bit hard to believe. Pirates weren't known to be noble and fair fighters—it was in their nature to play dirty and use underhanded tricks in hopes of getting what they wanted, to act like our navigator was a monster for doing the exact same thing as them was baffling. "So what do you say, men? You can't call a win against a crew with no captain a true victory, can you?!" he bellowed.

"No!" the crowd shouted.

"After swearing on Davy Jones' name, is it right to throw away your honor as a pirate? Just to win a match?" he asked.

"No!" they once again shouted.

"Why are they so mean?" Nami whimpered as Robin and I now comforted her.

"Well, even if it doesn't go against the rules, it does seem to go against their pirate sensibility" Robin remarked, comfortingly patting the ginger's back.

"Seems kind of strange coming from those guys after all the shit they've done" I frowned, soothingly stroking the navigator's hair as I softly murmured words of comfort to her every now and then as she continued to weep over how cruel the men were being.

"Peanuts!" the crowd started to chant.

"Shut up, you guys are making me mad!" Luffy grounded through clenched teeth, clearly becoming annoyed with the men.

"I'm with Nami on this one" Usopp said.

"I don't know, I think they're right" Zoro admitted, crossing his arms. "Nami, why don't you grow a backbone?" he scoffed.

"You're just making a big fuss because you lost, how about you shut up and deal with it?!" the navigator sneered at Foxy and his men after violently striking the back of Zoro's head.

"Now, now, Nami—don't be too rough with him" I nervously laughed as I pushed the frustrated woman away from the injured swordsman before she could do any more harm. "I'm sure he didn't mean any harm with his words, he was just being stupid is all."

"Yes, ma'am, we're sorry" Foxy and his men quickly apologized, the fear of suffering her wrath alongside the swordsman enough to make them zip their lips and stop belittling her for her plan.

"Underhanded, which she is, the girl is right—Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the winning team, so it's up to him to decide how this battle will unfold" Itomimizu sighed. "That is to say, he's free to choose anyone he likes, including Foxy himself" he clarified.

"Say, just a quick thought about that plan of yours" Robin piped up. "Although it would give us a big advantage, you realize it would also make Foxy a part of our crew" she pointed out.

"Yeah, I think I'll pass" the men of the crew admitted after giving it a moment's thought.

"Can't argue with them there" I softly chuckled.

"Our sweet captain's heart has been crushed under those cruel words!" someone in the crowd cried as Foxy fell into another depressive state.

"It's one thing to turn him down, but did they have to do it like that?" another frowned.

"Aw, it's okay! Even if they don't want you, we still do!" Porche sweetly cooed to the depressed man.

"You're always welcome here!" one of his men brightly smiled.

"Do you mean it?" Foxy asked with hopeful eyes.

"Nobody makes fun of our boss and gets away with it!" one of the men boldly declared.

"Yeah, you'll see! We'll get them next round!"

"We won't let you down, boss! I promise!"

"We love you!"

"Cut the crap, will you..." Sanji grumbled, causing Foxy to fall back over into his depressive state once more.

"Now that the Straw Hats are done emotionally abusing our boss, it's time for them to make their decision" Itomimizu said, quickly moving things along before any of us could say anything else that would depress the opposing captain even more. "Come on, don't leave us in suspension any longer!" he urged, now curious to know who we'd pick.

"Fine, in that case, there's someone I want to take back" Luffy smiled, causing Chopper to brighten. "Shelly" and just like that, the reindeer's smile faded and was replaced with a look of surprise as Nami and Usopp's jaws dropped, causing our captain to laugh.

"Do you have any idea what you just did, you sorry excuse for a captain?!" Usopp snapped as he roughly grabbed and stretched one of Luffy's cheeks.

"Yeah, of course!" Luffy nodded, still smiling.

"Listen, I know you didn't like my Foxy plan, but this is a gillion times worse!" Nami snapped as she roughly grabbed and stretched out his other cheek.

"What were you thinking? Don't you realize how serious this is?!" I scolded as I grabbed hold of his nose and stretched it out as well.

"Okay, but could you please stop stretching my face like that, please?" Luffy asked as we finally let go and watched how his head wildly jostled around once the stretched skin slapped back into place.

"Did you hear that, Choppy? Looks like you get to stay with us after all!" Porche squealed as Foxy burst out into laughter.

"I know I told you not to pick Chopper, but I wouldn't have said that if I thought you'd pick some horse" Nami heavily sighed.

"There you go, stilts guy" Luffy grinned at the older man who walked toward us, leading Shelly behind him who was nothing short of a beautiful white horse with extremely long legs and a neck as long as a giraffe's. "Now you have your horse back once and for all!" I blinked before huffing a small smile...I see, so there was a reasonable reason for him to pick the horse over Chopper.

"How can I thank you?" the old man asked.

"Seeing you together is thanks enough" Luffy assured, dismissively waving off the man's attempts to thank him.

"Hey, your friends don't look so good" the man suddenly remarked. "That last match was a doozy—you sure they're okay?" he worriedly asked.

"I blame it all on that loser with the crazy eyebrows" Zoro huffed, instantly triggering a fight between him and Sanji.

"Why are they like this?" I sighed, heading drooping.

"Because they're idiots" Nami answered, comfortingly patting my back in understanding.

"They certainly are lively, aren't they?" the old man asked, causing Luffy to laugh. "This means so much, really—thank you" he bowed in gratitude.

"I told you, it's fine—don't sweat it" Luffy reassured him with a dismissive wave.

"Good girl" the man smiled, petting his horse's snout the minute she lowered her head to be closer to his height.

"She's quite a beauty" I complimented.

"Yeah, she is" the old man happily sighed, his gaze softening as he now stroked the horse's mane.

"Well, I guess I can't blame him..." Nami softly huffed, smiling as she saw just how happy the old man looked to now have his horse back.

"Yeah, that is totally what I would have done" Usopp nodded.

"Hard to stay mad at him for doing something so sweet" I smiled.

"Let me repay your kindness by treating you to some cheese back at my house" the old man suddenly offered, still intent on repaying the captain back for his kindness.

"Not in a million years!" Usopp snapped, quick to shoot down the man's offer before anyone else could really think to answer.
