-Chapter One Hundred and Eighty-Four-
"Hey, Sanji—touch him! You got to touch him to win the game!" Luffy shouted.
"Alright, time to win this game—thanks for everything, old-timer" Sanji grinned, and just as he reached out to touch the old man...he halted the second he heard Porche's frightened scream as she and Hamburg finally went tumbling over the cliffside. Hamburg was quick to grab hold of the edge of the cliff and stop his own descent, but that wasn't enough to stop the woman on his back from falling.
"Sanji has turned around and started running back down the trail before touching the Stoplight—what is he doing?" Itomimizu questioned, confused by the blonde's behavior as he suddenly changed his course of direction.
"Even if she's the enemy, I can't abandon a lady in distress!" Sanji shouted as he jumped off the cliff and caught Porche.
"He truly is a gentleman at heart" I softly sighed, a small smile tugging at my lips. "Dumbass could have still gotten the win though before going off to save her..." I shook my head as Robin quietly hummed in agreement, both of us well aware he could have touched the old man before running off to play the hero.
"Incredible! The nefarious cook, Sanji, has saved our beloved Porche!" Itomimizu gaped as if not expecting such a kind gesture from the blond.
"Red light" Tonjit suddenly called.
"How can he be standing up like that? There's no way he's touching the bottom!" Foxy gawked as everyone watched in awe how the blond stayed perfectly still in the water—his back straight as he showed little to no signs of movement inside the water despite still being afloat.
"Oh! I get it!" Itomimizu realized. "He's treading on the water—and he's doing it while carrying Porche—and keeping his upper body completely motionless" he explained, impressed by the blonde's willpower and strength. "He's just like a swan on a lake—kicking furiously beneath the surface while looking elegant and graceful above. As long as the Stoplight can't see him moving, he's undeniably safe" he grinned. "Sanji is incredibly determined to win, he still has a chance to touch the Stoplight and claim victory!"
"Impressive, Mr. Cook" Robin complimented.
"I'll say!" I whistled, impressed by the blonde's leg power
"Sanji, you're awesome!" Luffy cried, just as equally impressed as everyone else in the crowd by the blonde's determination.
"Oh my, I could really fall for you, Mr. Cook" Porche cutely giggled as she kissed the blonde's cheek in thanks.
"Well, we're fucked" I deadpanned as the blond melted—instantly dropping the woman in his arms as he started to act like a lovesick puppy. Instantly losing all that concentration he had on keeping his body perfectly still in the water.
"Both Porche and Sanji have dived underwater!" Itomimizu announced, shocked by this sudden turn in events.
"You two moved, you're out" Tonjit said.
"Hey, what's your problem?!" Porche snapped as she burst through the water's surface. "Just keep swimming! You want me to drown or something?!" she sneered, annoyed by suddenly being dropped into the water like that despite clearly being able to swim just fine on her own.
"Oh, what have I done?! Sweet Robin and Skylar!" Sanji wailed in despair once he realized his mistake.
"Green" Tonjit held the word out once again as he turned away from everyone.
"And with the Stoplight's call, the game is once again underway—the only competitors left in this round at this point is Hamburg of Team Foxy as well as…" Itomimizu trailed off as if he was stunned to see who the other contestants still in the game were.
"We're almost to the Stoplight!" Nami brightened as she, Usopp, and Chopper rushed past Hamburg who was struggling to pull himself back off.
"There's nobody to stop us!" Usopp excitedly laughed and I couldn't help but ponder about what had happened to Jacob...though I was quick to brush off such a thought when I suddenly spotted him sprawled out on the course unconscious. He looked pretty roughed up and I could only assume that he had finally had a run-in with Zoro when climbing back up onto the course—he wasn't out, but he also wasn't really someone that his team could rely on at the moment.
"I don't believe it, we're going to be the first ones to touch him!" Chopper smiled.
"Come on, let's all touch him together!" Nami eagerly suggested.
"Yeah!" Usopp and Chopper nodded as my lips tugged up into a wide smile upon seeing just how happy the three of them were to finally be able to pull themselves ahead in the match despite having been so far behind earlier.
"Looks like the underdogs are going to win this match" I chuckled, happy that the three were suddenly given a chance to really prove themselves.
"Amazingly enough, the Straw Hat Slowpokes are now poised to be the first ones to touch the Stoplight—what an amazing turn of events! Who would have even thought it possible?!" Itomimizu gaped.
"Just when I finally get to the real path, I find you in the middle of it—out of my way!" Zoro scowled upon coming across Hamburg's exhausted self sprawled out over the path leading up to the old man. In aggravation, he kicked the monkey out of his way.
"Red" Tonjit started to say, already starting to drag the word out.
"We did it!" Nami cheered as she and the other two finally started to approach the old man.
"This is it, the Straw Hats are about to win!" Itomimizu announced in anticipation.
"Yeah, we win!" Luffy excitedly cheered.
"Tag!" Usopp, Nami, and Chopper brightly shouted as they reached for the old man...before suddenly being crushed by a falling Hamburg, who looked around in a daze for a moment before finally pressing the palm of his hand against Tonjit's head the minute he spotted just how close the old man was to him.
"Hamburg is the first player to touch the Stoplight!" Itomimizu declared. "Congratulations to Team Foxy, the winner of Round Two—Dash Touch Domination!" he praised.
"That's two games in a row! We're going to sweep these three matches!" Foxy proudly laughed.
"Him? What happened—is it over?" Zoro frowned as he finally reached the top of the path, confused how the primate had suddenly won.
"You're the one who ended it, you idiot!" Nami shouted.
"And you totally ruined everything for us!" Chopper frowned.
"This is all your fault, Zoro!" Usopp snapped and despite how calm he looked, his eyes clearly told a different story—widening in frustration as he swiveled his head. Locking eyes, I only jutted my lower lip out into a pout as I crossed my arms and looked the other way. I didn't know if I should be mad at the swordsman or not for his careless mistake as I knew he didn't intentionally mean to help the opposing team...yet, that didn't change the fact that it was his fault his team had lost.
"That's alright, it doesn't matter" Luffy assured the others, quick to halt any sort of argument from breaking out as they regrouped. "I'm up next—the captain's going to win his crew back, no problem" he grinned as he cracked his knuckles.
"Haven't you forgotten an important little fact, Straw Hat? That was your second loss, so in addition to Nico Robin and Skylar Strife, you're about to lose one more member of your crew" Foxy reminded him. "On top of that, we didn't make another deal, so you can only win back one crew member per event. Therefore, even in the slimmest most inconceivable chance you win the next round—"
"Come on, get to the point, Split Head" Luffy interrupted, sounding impatient as he motioned for the opposing captain to hurry up and get to the point.
"Split Head?" Foxy depressingly muttered as he dropped to his knees.
"What he's trying to say, Captain, is—"
"That there's only one more round remaining, so even if you win it, you can only take back one person" I distraughtly finished for her, voice cracking just a little as I tried my best to keep my emotions in check despite how painfully tight my chest now felt when I realized that the chances of either Robin and I as well as whoever else gets pick returning back to our original crew was now slim. That desire to scream in frustration just like back during the Groggy Ring was back, yet this time I bit my tongue and choked it back down despite how overwhelmingly of an urge it felt.
"So no matter what does or doesn't happen in the next round, the fact remains—you've already lost two of your crewmates forever!" Foxy mockingly laughed.
"The battle has ended and you know what that means, time to choose your bounty!" Itomimizu announced.
"Tough luck, but you should have seen this one coming!" Foxy grinned as he picked up Chopper and handed him over to Porche.
"I missed you, Choppy—don't you ever leave me again!" Porche cooed as she cuddled the reindeer before owlishly blinking when he frantically wiggled out of her grasp and fell right onto Robin's lap, who had been sitting in a chair close by.
"Robin! Skylar!" he sobbed as he stared teary up at us.
"We'll work something out, Doctor, don't cry" Robin assured him as I leaned down and sweetly patted the top of his head.
"Yeah, and remember, you have both Robin and me here with you—you're not alone" I gently smiled, taken aback just a little when he suddenly jumped up and wrapped his arms around my neck—pulling me into a tight hug as he continued to sob. "There...there..." I softly murmured, quietly chuckling as I patted his back in a comforting manner before pulling away from the embrace. Standing up, I childishly stuck my tongue out at Porche the moment I noticed that she had crossed her arms and was now pouting.
"Hey, we're kind of running out of options here" Usopp nervously pointed out.
"How are you going to get us out of this?" Nami frowned.
"I got this under control—we'll have a third Davy Back Fight and win all three rounds" Luffy explained.
"Now you want to go to three?" Foxy questioned before shaking his head. "I don't think so."
