-Chapter One Hundred and Ninety-One-
"It's the end of the round!" Itomimizu announced at the sound of a bell as Foxy's men began to pile up near the bottom of the stand—jumping into the water after their captain in order to save him from potentially drowning. "The Davy Back Giant has been tumbled and the boy with the tiny crew and massive afro has seized the day in grand fashion!" he proclaimed.
"Uh-oh..." I muttered as the stands began to tremble before finally giving out thanks to the excessive amount of weight piled onto one side.
-Later-
"You little show off! Who do you think you are?!" Usopp cried as we crowded around Luffy's unconscious body after removing it from Foxy's ship. "Take this! And this!" he frowned as he harshly started to poke at the rubber man's face.
"Hey, stop that—he's really hurt! You'll poke him to death!" Chopper scolded.
"Yeah—knock it off, Usopp! Luffy's pretty tired and worn out from the fight, he gave it his all and I think he deserves to rest!" I snapped, causing the sharpshooter to flinch as he cringed a little at how rough my voice sounded.
"Yeah, afro power my butt" Nami scoffed. "That was a close call if I've ever seen one" she huffed.
"Whoa, hey—let's not disrespect the afro here" Sanji frowned.
"He's right, Nami" I nodded. "You should show more respect to the afro" I chuckled as I playfully chastised the ginger for her dismissal of the the afro our captain wore.
"Didn't Chopper tell you to limit your speaking for a while so as not to put any more strain on your voice?" Nami glared.
"No..." I widely smiled as I quickly averted my gaze.
"Liar!" Chopper and Nami snapped, causing me to giggle as I quickly held my hands up in defense when they started scolding me.
"Look! He's waking up!" Chopper pointed out when the captain suddenly groaned and began to stir.
"Where am I? What happened?" Luffy asked, slowly sitting up as he curiously looked around and tried to gather his bearings, quick to note that he was no longer on the Sexy Foxy and instead laid out on the grass. "Is it over? Did I win? That wasn't a dream, was it? Was it?!" he frantically asked, already starting to panic as he struggled to remember what had happened before he passed out.
"Whoa! One question at a time there, captain" I grinned.
"You don't need to freak out, you beat him" Zoro assured him.
"What a relief" Luffy sighed as he fell back down.
"Everyone else said you'd lose, but not me!" Usopp boasted.
"You're a bad liar" Sanji grumbled.
"Guess it would have been a real pain if you lost—imagine being stuck on a boat with Foxy" Zoro frowned at the idea. "Screw that!" he scoffed.
"Doesn't sound pleasant at all" I laughed.
"Boss, wait!" one of Foxy's men suddenly cried.
"You got to take it easy!" another wailed as they tried to stop the opposing captain from moving.
"Hey, rubber boy!" Foxy shouted as he stormed toward us. "I was pretty attached to that win streak of mine—I'm not pleased about you ruining it" he frowned.
"Boss, no!" one of his men worriedly shouted, fearing that the man was going to ask for another Davy Back Fight despite how hurt he was.
"I'm kidding, brother, let's shake!" Foxy suddenly laughed as he held his hand out—standing tall and proud as his crew now praised him for how mature and amazing he was. "Taste my Shoulder Throw!" he suddenly sneered, attempting to toss Luffy over his shoulder the second he grabbed his hand...only to end up flipping himself over as the rubber man's arm stretched.
"Oh no!" his men panicked.
"This guy's a real piece of work..." Zoro grumbled as I burst out laughing.
"He is rather pathetic, isn't he?" I giggled.
"You forget the rules already?!" Foxy embarrassingly snapped. "Come on, you got five hundred new crewmates to choose!"
"He's right, we haven't made the final exchange yet" Itomimizu reminded us.
"Chopper, Robin, and Skylar!" Luffy grinned, causing the reindeer to rush him—bawling as soon as he jumped and wrapped the rubber man up into a tight hug. I laughed before yelping as I was suddenly pulled into the hug as well. "Thanks for cheering me on!" he brightly smiled.
"No problem, So...Luffy" I softly chuckled, blushing as I quickly caught myself...there really was something brotherly about him that just reminded me so much of my twin back home from that goofy smile of his to his overall chipper and friendly personality. There were obvious differences, of course, but that never deterred from the familiarity he exuded that helped to soothe any sense of homesickness I may have. "I mean, you are the only captain for me after all" I grinned, wrapping an arm around him as he happily laughed.
"I'm so happy! Thank you! Thank you!" Chopper sobbed as I eventually removed myself from the hug and pulled off my Foxy mask—carelessly tossing it aside.
"Here's your mask, you can have it back now" Robin said as she removed hers and handed it back to Foxy's crew instead of just tossing it like I had. I couldn't find it in me to show any kind of politeness to the opposing crew after everything they put us through.
"Straw Hat starts out with three obvious choices—the question is, who's next?" Itomimizu curiously asked. "Don't leave us hanging!" he excitedly grinned, eager to know who else the man was going to choose.
"Guess I'll take your flag" Luffy shrugged.
"What?!" the other crew shouted in shock, not expecting the captain to just go straight for their flag.
"You monster! You'd strip my crew of their livelihood without a second thought!" Foxy snapped.
"I don't need your sail, you got to use that to go places after all" Luffy frowned.
"You hear that? We're saved!" one of the men cheered.
"That's nice and all, but I'm afraid it's not that easy" another one piped up, shaking his head. "We have a flag on our sail too—we don't need your pity, you won fair and square, so take it" he huffed, mistaking the captain's kindness for pity.
"I got a plan—I don't actually have to take the sail off the boat as long as I can take the mark off the sail, and I can do that with paint!" Luffy brightened as he quickly came up with an idea on how he could prevent the opposing crew from losing their sail. "Once you have a new flag, you should be fine, right?" he asked before quickly setting to work on painting a new Jolly Roger for the crew.
"Thank you, Straw Hat, your kindness—" Foxy cut himself off from his tearful thank you once he laid eyes on the monstrosity Luffy had drawn on his sail
"There!" Luffy grinned, proud of his creation.
"Like a true artist!" I burst out laughing, quickly having to lean against Zoro for support as he grinned.
"It sucks!" Foxy and his men cried as they fell to the ground in despair.
"Aw, you don't have to bow to me" Luffy giggled, bashfully rubbing the back of his head as he mistook the crew's depression for gratitude.
"We're not!" the men snapped as Luffy gathered up their flag and made his way back over to us.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" Itomimizu exclaimed, quick to halt our attempts at leaving. "Hold on a second—you still have another four hundred and ninety-six crewmembers to pick" he reminded us.
"We don't need anymore" Luffy frowned, not really wanting to take any of Foxy's men.
"The rules are the rules! I don't really care if you need them or not—you're going to pick those crewmates right now!" Foxy snapped.
"Aw, do I have to?" Luffy whined.
"Of course, you do! Stop complaining!" Foxy sneered.
"Is this really something to argue about?" I sweat dropped, not seeing why the opposing captain was so adamant about us taking his men instead of being thankful that he was only having to lose his flag and nothing more.
"Hey, Luffy, a crew follows the captain's orders no matter what—remember?" Zoro grinned as he slung an arm around my shoulder.
"Yes, good point" Robin nodded, quick to realize what the swordsman was trying to imply.
"That makes it easy" Usopp brightened as he too realized what the swordsman meant.
"Sure does" I hummed.
"Easy? What is?" Nami curiously asked—she and Chopper staring at the rest of us in slight confusion.
"I got it, no problem" Luffy grinned with a nod. "Now, let's see—you!" he hummed in thought for a moment before pointing at one of the men.
"Me? Really?" the man questioned.
"Yep, everyone from you to you" Luffy nodded as he went down the line of men before finally coming to a halt.
"Me?" Itomimizu blinked as the captain stopped just short of Jacob which made me sigh in utter relief that he had.
"How many people is that?" Luffy asked.
"We have five hundred total" Itomimizu nodded after taking a moment to count.
