-Chapter One Hundred and Ninety-Six-

"I didn't join your crew until after you left Alabasta, sorry" Robin apologized. "I couldn't tell you what happened before that, Miss Swordswoman?" she questioned, looking to me as if I would have the answers the captain sought.

"I joined up with you guys right before we entered the Grand Line...but the only adventures I remember clearly is our time spent in Laboon and at Whisky Peak" I said, briefly discussing with them the adventures we had shared that I clearly remembered before reaching Alabasta. "We headed to Little Garden after, but...due to injuries...I can't really tell you everything that happened from our time spent on Little Garden to the moment we arrived at Drum Island and met Chopper" I sheepishly admitted as I bashfully scratched my cheek as if embarrassed.

"Due to injuries?" Sanji worriedly frowned.

"It wasn't anything serious, just...you know...second-degree sunburns and possibly a few fractures due to a series of upclose explosions..." I awkwardly muttered, avoiding all eye contact as I turned my head and sipped at my drink. "But really, it wasn't anything serious—and, as you can see, I'm perfectly fine now" I smiled, waving away any concern they may have.

"Aw man, that sucks!" Luffy pouted once he realized that Robin and I have no more stories to share. "Wait, did we really adventure inside a giant whale?" he perked up, excitedly bouncing once he fully registered what I had told him.

"Yeah, you even made friends with him" I grinned, chuckling at the way he instantly brightened as he seemed to almost cheer in excitement at the revelation that not only did he get to traverse inside the belly of a whale, but was able to also befriend him as well.

"So, Robin, Skylar—can you tell us about yesterday?" Sanji suddenly asked, now moving the conversation along once he realized that we had no more past adventures to share. "Before any of this happened" he clarified.

"Sure" Robin nodded.

"I don't see why not" I shrugged.

"But let's include the ship's doctor" Robin suggested, using her Devil Fruit powers to open the kitchen door and causing Chopper to come tumbling inside. "You're still doing it backward" she remarked when the reindeer attempted to hide behind the door.

"Shut up! I'll do it how I want!" Chopper embarrassingly snapped while correcting himself, blushing as I softly chuckled.

"You got to be hungry, why don't you sit down and eat?" Sanji offered as the reindeer cautiously backed away/

"Oh, come on—do I look stupid to you?! You really think I'm going to fall for something like that?!" Chopper snapped, infuriated that the blond thought he'd be dumb enough to sit down with us after the way he and Luffy had talked about wanting to cook him up and eat him.

"This conversation is nothing without your voice" Robin smiled.

"She's right, won't you please come join us?" I sweetly asked, patting the open spot between us.

"We need your brilliant input" we grinned, knowing damn well that by complimenting him, he'd be more willing to join in on our conversation.

"You dummies! You're not going to win me over by flattering me, okay?" Chopper giddily laughed as he eagerly took a seat right between us.

"We know" I smiled, patting the top of his head which only made him giggle more.

"You sure about that?" Luffy and Usopp sweat dropped.

"We followed the coordinates to this area of the sea" Robin started as she retold the story of what had happened the day before. "And after that, everyone went to bed—I stayed up doing research and the swordsman was on watch" she concluded, telling them all that she personally knew.

"I was up as well—couldn't sleep" I added.

"I know it's not much, but that's it" Robin said, not knowing what else to say since not much had really happened after we left Long Ring Long Land. "Everything's the same as you remember it after that, probably."

"The Pirate Hunter was pissed we woke him up, so he must have fallen asleep at some point" Sanji suggested as he put his current cigarette out.

"It would seem so" Robin nodded.

"Doesn't surprise me, that dork's always dozing off" I sighed.

"More coffee?" Sanji offered once he noticed Robin's empty cup.

"Yes, please" she nodded as he started to refill her cup.

"So, the big question we need to answer is why you two are the only ones who didn't lose your memories" Sanji hummed.

"The only difference that I can think of is that we were the only ones who stayed awake—if the swordsman did in fact fall asleep that is" Robin said, not wanting to jump to conclusions just yet.

"There was also…" I trailed off, not sure if I should mention that weird noise I had heard last night or not.

"Also what?" Robin curiously questioned.

"Nothing..." I shook my head. "Now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably not all that important..." I muttered, certain that what I had heard was just an animal and that there was no reason to go and get everyone riled up over something that could have possibly been nothing. We didn't need any wild goose chases right now.

"I fell asleep, but I still remember that we all are the Usopp Pirates" Usopp huffed.

"Good point" Sanji nodded. "Sounds like it all boils down to whether we were asleep or not" he theorized as he pulled out another cigarette, certain that everyone's lost memories had to do with whether they were asleep or not last night.

"I'm just pointing out the obvious factors" Robin corrected. "It could be a coincidence" she said, clearly not wanting us to possibly go chasing after a red herring should our sleeping habits have nothing to do with everyone's lost memories.

"I never heard of such a case, I don't know what to think..." Chopper mumbled.

"Well, now that we've told you what happened, let's hear your story—why don't you tell us what you think happened to you yesterday?" Robin asked.

"I'm pretty sure that I went to pick medical herbs with Doctorine and then I went back to the castle and went to bed and woke up here" Chopper answered.

"Well, I remember being—ignored" Usopp deadpanned when he saw how quickly our attention was directed toward Luffy, skipping right over him without a second thought.

"I blacked out after being swallowed up by a giant whirlpool and then I was here" Luffy shrugged.

"A giant whirlpool?" I raised an eyebrow.

"That's right" he nodded as I hummed, now wondering how someone got themselves into such a bizarre situation.

"Same as these guys—I remember going to sleep in my room after work, but then I woke up here" Sanji said.

"And none of you remember anything after that?" I asked as the kettle went off.

"That's right! There was a horn—I remember someone blowing a horn!" Chopper quickly piped up, catching my attention.

"Same here, yeah—there was a horn" Luffy nodded in agreement. "I heard the same thing."

"Yeah, me too" Sanji also nodded.

"And then a little boy appeared out of nowhere..." Usopp mumbled.

"Hang on! I don't think we lost our memories—I get the feeling that that kid somehow stole them from us" Sanji frowned, quick to jump to conclusions.

"Well, we don't know that just yet" Robin said, brushing off the blonde's assumptions. "But I'm willing to bet that this child is the answer to our situation" she said, willing to believe that the kid was at least somewhat a part of the equation but not specifically the one that had taken the other's memories.

"D-do you think it's possible we'll lose more memories each time we fall asleep?" Chopper shakily asked as he and Usopp started to freak out at the possible thought that they'd lose even more of their memories should they fall asleep.

"Don't scare me like that!" the sharpshooter snapped. "Look—I mean, this was just a dream, right?! That supernatural kind of mumbo jumbo isn't real!" he desperately pleaded, clearly wanting confirmation that someone as bizarre as someone stealing another's memories wasn't really possible.

"You don't think it's weird we all had the same dream?" Sanji questioned. "Supernatural or not, it happened" he pointed out.

"Look, we don't mean to scare you" I said, quick to try and calm everyone down before things got too out of hand. Maybe any other time I would have playfully teased the sharpshooter for fear over the supernatural, but right now clearly wasn't the time with how serious the situation currently was.

"But if this keeps happening, it could eventually reach a point where you're incapable of remembering who you are" Robin added.

"Robin! We're trying to calm them down, not scare them even further" I softly scolded.

"Nope, still scared!" Usopp whimpered.

"Say, why is it such a big deal if we remember those things or not?" Luffy suddenly asked, standing up. "You know, sure it sucks that I don't have all those fun memories anymore, but it's a pretty good reason for us to start over and go on new fun adventures" he grinned.

"What?! Are you crazy?" Usopp snapped, not understanding how the captain could so easily brush over just how serious this was. "There's a serious chance that we could lose all our memories—you really want to lose all your thoughts and dreams and everything?!" he scowled.

"None of that's going to happen!" Luffy firmly huffed. "Nothing could take away my dreams and I know it's the same for you guys too."

"Same as always, even with your missing memories" I softly chuckled.

"My food's gone!" Chopper suddenly cried, causing Luffy to burst out into a fit of laughter as he unintentionally confessed to being the culprit.

"Don't mess with another man's food, got it?!" Sanji growled, kicking the captain.

"I'm sorry..." he weakly groaned.

-Later-

"This is kind of exciting!" Luffy laughed as he eagerly ran around the deck, curiously looking at what everyone was doing with childlike wonder. "What's that you're making there?" he curiously asked, coming to a halt beside Chopper.

"It's a medicine for regaining memories—no, don't interfere!" Chopper scolded the second he saw Luffy attempting to grab at something he shouldn't.

"Is everything alright?" Sanji asked as he approached where Robin and I were sitting. I only hummed, slowly removing my gaze away from the nearby island and giving him a tired smile in return.

"Yeah, just a little worried is all..." I sighed, turning my attention back toward the island as he slowly nodded.

"Find anything useful?" he asked, setting two drinks down as he quickly directed his attention toward Robin when he saw that I wasn't going to say anything more.

"No, nothing suggests that it's anything but a normal island" Robin shook her head as Luffy suddenly ran by, snatching up a drink from the tray in Sanji's hands.

"You sure the island has anything to do with it?" I asked, causing her to raise an eyebrow as I turned my head back around.
