-Chapter One Hundred and Ninety-Eight-

"Why can't we go right now?" Luffy frowned.

"Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with going to go and get them now" I agreed, not opposing to getting our lost crewmembers back this very instance.

"Searching for two people on an unknown island in the middle of the night is a recipe for disaster" Robin pointed out.

"Oh...guess you got a point" Luffy nodded in understanding as I crossed my arms and slowly nodded as well—knowing full well that there was no point in arguing with the older woman when she was clearly right. Besides, with the sudden reappearance of the child and the confirmation that he had been the one to steal the other's memories, it wouldn't be wise to go wandering around alone at night. There's no telling what kind of tricks he may have up his sleeves if we went on the island unprepared.

"Let's get some rest and then we'll begin our search when the sun comes up" Robin suggested. "I don't think that boy will be back tonight, we gave him a lot of trouble—he'll think twice before showing up here again" she assured us.

"Yeah, you're probably right" I agreed, certain that she was right and that the child wouldn't dare try to come back after the fright Luffy had given him.

"Right! It's settled, we'll rest up and start the search first thing in the morning!" Luffy brightly smiled.

"Hold on a second" Sanji said, catching our attention as we halted in our tracks. "I'm all for bringing the lovely lady, Nami, back, but not that Zoro guy—he can just stay gone for all I care" he confessed, seeing no reason why we should go chasing after the swordsman.

"I agree—if you three want to go looking for him, you can do it on your own" Usopp nodded.

"What?!" I snapped, causing the sharpshooter to flinch as I whirled around and started storming toward him and Sanji—ready to chew them both out before stopping when I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking back, Luffy pulled me toward him as he gave my shoulder a firm squeeze as if silently ordering me to stay and not do anything rash.

"I'm not sure..." Chopper shyly admitted, looking down in discomfort as he realized all eyes had suddenly drifted down to him as if to see which side he would choose.

"What the—what are you saying?" Luffy frowned.

"We're saying, why look for Zoro?" Sanji asked.

"He's a pirate hunter, remember?" Usopp questioned, now hiding behind the blond in an attempt to put some distance between himself and me once he saw the venomous glare I was giving him.

"Isn't it obvious?" Luffy asked, letting my shoulder go as he gave my back a gentle pat. "Because he's our friend" he grinned as he looked back to me for confirmation.

"That's right, captain" I nodded, softly smiling as I found myself instantly relaxing upon seeing his grinning face.

"Just because you said it doesn't mean it's true!" Usopp snapped. "Come on!" he frowned, refusing to believe that the swordsman was their friend just because the captain said so.

"That guy sure didn't act like he was our friend" Sanji scoffed, rolling his eyes as he recalled how unfriendly and distant the swordsman had been earlier. "Surely you noticed that—the way he left is proof enough for me" he said.

"That's because he lost his memory" I argued in defense of the swordsman's behavior, knowing that the others probably would have ditched the ship as soon as they could if they hadn't been willing to hear Robin and me out.

"Usopp is the sniper, Sanji is the cook, Chopper is the doctor, Robin is the archaeologist, Skylar is the swordswoman, Nami is the navigator, and Zoro is the swordsman" Luffy huffed, refusing to back down just because the two wouldn't believe him. "We are the Straw Hat Pirates and we don't leave any man behind!"

"Then we'll have to get Mr. Swordsman's memory back" Robin pointed out as I quickly nodded in agreement.

"No problem" Luffy grinned. "All I have to do is kick that brat's butt again, that's how I got mine back—sound good, Chopper?" he asked as he looked to the reindeer for confirmation. "Well, looks like tomorrow is going to be a really busy day—alright! Let's all get some sleep while we can!"

-The Next Morning-

"Nami! Zoro! Sit tight and don't worry—we're coming for you" Luffy grinned as he came barging out onto the deck. "Hey, wake up!" he shouted, unaware that the rest of us were already onshore and ready to go.

"We're already up and ready" Robin called up to him. "Mr. Cook and Mr. Doctor are here too" she assured him so he'd know that everyone was truly up and off the ship, ready to help search for our missing friends.

"There's no way I'd leave a lady like that behind" Sanji said, making it clear that he really was only coming for Nami's sake. "And besides, Robin and Skylar are going to need themselves a bodyguard" he grinned, causing me to playfully roll my eyes.

"And if anyone gets injured, they'll surely need the assistance of a doctor, right?" Chopper questioned.

"That's right" I sweetly smiled, patting the top of his head as he giggled a little in embarrassment while trying to shyly hide his face underneath his hat.

"Which means I should stay behind and guard the ship" Usopp quickly suggested, already wanting to back out in helping.

"You're coming too, Usopp" Luffy said, shooting down the sharpshooter's suggestion.

"Well, actually, I got this "My-Heart-Will-Stop-If-I-Go-On-The-Island" disease" Usopp nervously lied.

"How tragic, good thing we have a doctor" I deadpanned.

"Just come with us—I know one thing, Usopp the Brave Warrior of the Sea is a man who always comes through when things get rough!" Luffy grinned, quick to stroke the sharpshooter's ego.

"That's me!" Usopp proudly boasted before quickly covering his mouth when he realized his mistake in responding positively to what the captain had said.

"Alright then, we're going!" Luffy cheered, hopping onshore as he joined the rest of us.

"Crap! I got caught up in the moment!" Usopp scolded himself, frustrated that he let himself get caught up in having his ego fed.

"So how are we going to get across the bay to the island?" Sanji asked.

"I think a raft is the most viable option" Robin said.

"It's the most logical one as well" I said. "I would suggest swimming as a possible option, but three of us can't exactly do that."

"Hey, make us a raft, Usopp" Luffy suddenly instructed.

"Why should I?!" Usopp snapped. "I'm Captain Usopp, remember?" he huffed.

"Yeah, yeah" Sanji dismissively waved.

"At the very least, I'm a sniper—either way, I can't properly do the job of a shipwright" Usopp frowned.

"To make a raft, all you do is tie some logs together" Chopper said as he set to work on building his own raft. "Problem solved!" he brightly smiled as he proudly showed off the finished result of his hard labor.

"It's cute, hon, but I don't think it's going to float" I smiled, trying to be gentle in letting him down as I didn't want to hurt his feelings by telling him that his hard work was all for naught.

"Are you sure those are the right type of knots to use?" Sanji asked.

"Well yeah—a knot's a knot, right?" Luffy smiled.

"Luffy, that's not how that works" I sweat dropped before curiously watching as the rubber man set to work making his own raft.

"But mine looks a whole lot cooler—check this baby out!" he proudly grinned as he showed off his finished raft.

"No way! Mine is the coolest!" Chopper argued as he hastily changed the design of his.

"Sorry, but there's no comparison—mine rules" Sanji grinned, joining in as he now showcased his own raft.

"None of those looks like they'll float" I deadpanned.

"Oh, come on! Seriously, how can you call yourself pirates when you can't even make a decent raft?" Usopp scolded, baffled that none of them had been able to make a functional raft we could actually use.

"Such amazing workmanship" Robin praised once Usopp had finished making his own raft.

"See, Usopp's a man who always comes through!" Luffy happily boasted. "Alright, let's go!" and with that, we carefully climbed aboard the raft and made our way across the bay. As soon as we were on dry land, I tapped Luffy's arm.

"I'm going to go on ahead and look for Zoro while you guys get Nami" I said.

"Alright, sounds good" he nodded, smiling as he patted the top of my head which caused my cheeks to warm up a little as a bright smile tugged at my lips. "We'll meet back up with the two of you once we find Nami" I only nodded before rushing off in search of the swordsman.

-Later-

"Zoro!" I shouted, calling out the swordsman's name for the umpteenth time as I walked through the surrounding woods that covered the island—looking all around me for any familiar signs that the swordsman was nearby. Stopping, I took a second to listen as all I received in response to my shouting was...

Nothing.

Heaving a sigh, I felt my shoulders slump downwards as my feet began to drag along the trail I was walking—kicking up dust with each step I took. I've been looking for at least half an hour now...where in the world could he have gone in under a day? Surely he couldn't have gotten that far and despite his green hair, I had my doubts he could blend in that well with the surrounding foliage. Sucking in a deep breath, I straightened my back and started to walk normally once again as I cupped my mouth.

"Hey, Zoro! Where are you?!" despite not expecting a response just like every time before, I was pleasantly surprised when I was suddenly greeted by the sound of rushing footsteps coming my way. At first, I thought it was just Luffy and them coming to meet back up with me...but the sinking feeling in my stomach was enough to make me draw a sword and turn around just in time to block the attack that was suddenly sent my way. Right off the bat, I could tell who my attacker was—it wasn't hard considering how accustomed I was to his attacks by this point in time after the constant practice fights we would have in our spare time on the Merry when there was nothing else to do. I clenched my jaw as our swords harshly clashed against one another, the blades vibrating as I dug my feet into the ground before he could push me back any further.

Zoro's strength was still as strong as ever as I began pushing back against him the minute I found my footing after his sudden attack. My heart started pounding as my knees began to shake—something was wrong. Something was very wrong with this situation—this was the strength of a man whose intentions were to kill not to subdue.

It wasn't the strength of a man wanting to just knock someone out or disarm his opponent but to physically kill them.

"W-what?!" I grounded out, pushing with all my strength back against the swordsman as I dug my feet further into the ground the second I felt them start to slide. Cautiously lifting my gaze, I shivered the second our eyes locked. That look in his eyes made it perfectly clear to me that something was horribly wrong—that he wasn't himself at this exact moment. I winced at the scraping of our blades, the sound nothing more than an ominous warning as I hastily pushed away and began putting as much distance between ourselves as I could. Keeping a defensive stance, I warily watched as he took a more offensive one, already looking ready to attack again.

He made no move to draw either of his other swords, in return, I didn't dare draw my other either in fear that that would push him to use all three swords. Compared to him, I wasn't as strong, but I knew I had a slightly better chance against him if he was only using one sword...granted, it still wouldn't be enough for me to fully take him head-on in a serious fight like this one. Our strengths were far too different from one another. I tensed and immediately put up my guard the second he lunged forward. Soon the sounds of metal scraping against metal as our swords clashed over and over painfully echoed through the quiet air—frightening any nearby animals that might have been resting peacefully.

I wasn't able to land a single hit—always forced to dodge and block as he practically got multiple close calls with me.

My bones rattled with every clash as the pounding of my heart nearly drowned everything out. I had very little time to think or ponder what was happening or why it was even happening—all I could do was rely on instinct and stay focused as I continued to block his oncoming attacks. But...the second I mistakenly locked eyes with him, I felt myself instantly cave. In an instant, I lost all focus which in return gave him the chance to knock my sword from my grasp as he kicked me in the stomach.

"Oof!" it wasn't too harsh of a kick, but it wasn't really gentle either as I was painfully knocked onto my bottom. Instinctively, like I always did whenever I'd received such a painful kick, I closed my eyes and raised my hands in a pathetic attempt to shield myself. It was a reflex I had developed as a child in a poor attempt to protect myself from...protect from both the various adults and children in my life who wanted to do nothing more than hurt me. Curling further into myself, I tensely waited with bated breath for something to happen...

But instead, nothing did.

Cautiously peeking an eye open, I warily peered up at the swordsman. There was a certain shine in his eye, one that made my face burn the moment I realized what it was as I hastily averted my gaze in slight embarrassment.

"Wha...what's with that look...?" I nervously asked, anxiously squirming under his intense gaze as he placed his sword back into its sheath before dropping to his knees. I tensed a little at the feeling of his fingers weaving through my hair as he grabbed the back of my head before my eyes widened when his lips suddenly and harshly smashed against my own in a sloppy and almost needy kiss that had our teeth painfully clashing together. My brain felt like it was about to short-circuit as my hands instantly flew up to his shoulders the moment I felt him guide me down onto my back and crawl on top. Not once did he break the kiss even as he grabbed at the fabric of my sweater and harshly yanked down on its stretchy material until the head opening stretched all the way down past my shoulders—revealing the tops of my shoulders and collarbone. "Uh...uh..." I stumbled over my speech the second he pulled away, leaving behind a trail of spit.

My eyes spun as I desperately tried to comprehend what was happening, heart once more pounding away within my chest as the flush of my cheek began to darken and spread the moment I felt him start to press a series of hard kisses down my neck and toward my collarbone. It's not like I hated what was happening, somewhat preferring this over being slaughtered...but...

"W-wait, Zoro! D-don't...don't you think we're going a bit too—ah!" I yelped the second he harshly bit down. "Mmph!" I shivered upon hearing the almost animalistic sound he made as he bit down even harder. Squirming in response to the sharp pain now pulsating from my collarbone, I whined as his tongue soon started to drag itself over the bite mark as if to silently apologize for how painful it was. "That's disgusting and unsan-ah-itary!" I shakily moaned as one of his hands snuck its way underneath my sweater. His fingertips ghosting over the flesh of my stomach, leaving goosebumps behind in their wake as he slipped his fingers underneath my bra.

Grinning against the flesh of my collarbone, he started to press soft kisses along it as he gently began massaging the mound of flesh his hand now rested again. I lowly whined as I started to pant, blush only getting worse as I began to squirm...

It felt good.

It felt really good to the point that my mind was now a frazzled mess that was too uncertain about what exactly I should do. I don't recall ever feeling this good before as my body automatically tried to lean more into his touch the longer he kneaded my breast—thumb now rubbing gentle circles over my nipple which in return sent tingles down my spine. I found myself whimpering anytime his teeth would nip at my flesh, not as hard as that first bite, but still sharp enough to draw a sound out of me as his mouth continued to hotly press against my collarbone. It wasn't until the sounds of frantic screaming getting louder and the feeling of his other hand fiddling with the front of my jeans did I jolt—harshly kicking him away with my feet as I finally snapped back into my senses.

"Pervert!" I embarrassingly cried, instantly curling up on myself in an attempt to hide my body as Usopp and Chopper walked onto the scene.
