-Chapter Two Hundred and Two-
"What's going on?" Luffy frowned. "They think we took their memories!" he quickly realized, confused how the villagers had come to such a conclusion.
"So it would seem" Robin nodded.
"Well, we are pirates—what did you expect?" Zoro asked as he readjusted his hold just a little on me.
"You better not drop me" I said, pressing my face against his chest.
"I won't drop you, just hold on" he huffed as I tightened my grip.
"They left me no other choice!" Nami scowled as she revved up the waver and drove straight toward the oncoming villagers.
"Stop it!" one of them angrily cried as the ginger mowed down those who weren't quick enough to get out of her way.
"What kind of pirate would stop just because someone says to?" she frowned at the ridiculous command.
"You—" another villager screamed as they were struck. Once a path was cleared, we booked it to the shoreline and hastily made our way back to the ship—setting sail before anything else could happen.
"Thank goodness we made it back" Chopper sighed in relief once we were back out at sea and no longer being chased by an angry mob.
"My bronze statue..." Luffy sadly pouted as he hung from the ram's head. "I was so close to getting one—it would have been awesome...my very own dark, cool, bronze statue..." he childishly huffed as he puffed out his cheeks.
"I'm sure you'll get it one day, captain" I assured him as he once again huffed in sad frustration that he lost out on his chance at a bronze statue.
"Aw man, I'm glad that's all over" Usopp sighed, relieved that everything was back to normal. "Losing your memory can sure cause a lot of trouble..." he grumbled.
"Yeah, tell me about it..." I muttered in agreement, rubbing the back of my neck.
"You got that right, including someone trying to scam his way into making us his pirate crew" Sanji glared as the sharpshooter nervously laughed.
"Come on, hey, you could still join—what do you say?" he grinned as the blond heaved a tired sigh.
"There was also a certain simpleton who lent out his mind and body to be taken over by an erratic seahorse" Sanji said.
"What?!" Zoro scowled as he tightened his hold on me.
"If you had kept watch like you were supposed to instead of sleeping, then none of this mess would have happened in the first place" Sanji scolded. "Stupid moss head..." he grumbled.
"Shut up! I was tired!" Zoro snapped as shoved his face into Sanji.
"When are you ever not tired?" I asked, nervously smiling as I looked the other way the second he turned his head and shoved his face into mine until his nose was touching my cheek. "I mean it wasn't your fault you were tired" I weakly chuckled.
"Well, if you're that tired, why don't you sleep forever!" Sanji growled, causing the swordsman to whirl his head back around as he prepared to snap back at the blond...only for Nami to instead get between the two and push them away from one another.
"Shut it! Enough bickering or else you'll be getting another dose of amnesia!" she threatened.
"Ooh, how scary" I laughed.
"Aw! Come on, don't say such mean things, Nami!" Sanji cooed as he lovingly watched the navigator walk away.
"What's wrong, Robin? Huh?" Chopper worriedly asked when he suddenly saw the look on the sullen look on the woman's face.
"Are you alright? Something on your mind" I quietly asked, taking note of the faraway look in her eyes as if she was remembering something terrible—she looked like someone remembering something they clearly wished to forget or never think about ever again. It was a familiar look, one I was certain that I'd probably worn plenty of times before when recalling unsavory memories that I wished to never remember again.
"Oh, it's nothing" Robin smiled...it was a familiar kind of smile. It was the kind of smile I recalled always giving whenever someone would be brave enough to ask about the cuts and bruises...it was the kind of smile I taught myself to wear so as not to burden those around me with my issues. "Just a little tired, that's all" she assured the two of us before walking off.
'Liar' I kept silent as I knew it wasn't really my place to speak—it wasn't my right to go digging around in someone else's business without their permission. I never liked when people tried to dig and I always assumed others were the same...it was uncomfortable when people tried to push even if they meant well. It was painful and scary when people tried to pry into another's life because I could never tell if that prying was being done out of genuine concern or sick curiosity.
"Poor Robin didn't get to sleep even once during that entire ordeal" Sanji sadly sighed. "Neither did you, Skylar" he realized as he worriedly turned to me.
"Yeah, that's right" Chopper nodded in agreement, looking up at me with concern.
"It's alright, sleep is for the weak anyway" I chuckled, waving off their concern and brightly smiling down at the doctor.
"I don't think that's a very healthy mindset to have..." Chopper sweat dropped.
"Now, time to start preparing a recuperative dinner" Sanji said as he took note of how late it was getting.
"What? Dinner?" Luffy perked up. "Good idea! Sanji, dinner!" he eagerly grinned.
"I said I'd start preparing it—shut up and wait..." the blond grumbled in annoyance.
"Hey, Luffy, why weren't you and Skylar with Zoro when he found us by the lake?" Nami suddenly and curiously asked, now wondering why it had taken the two of us so long to reach the lake.
"Oh, I kind of got stuck under a boulder Zoro cut" Luffy admitted.
"Yeah, and I was the one who had to help get it off him" I nodded.
"A boulder?" Nami blinked.
"Yeah—to be fair, it was a pretty big boulder" Luffy defended once he saw the ginger's expression. "If it wasn't for Skylar, I don't know how long I'd been stuck under there" he brightened.
"Yeah..." I heavily sighed. "It probably wouldn't have taken so long though if you had helped a little..." I added with a grumble, causing him to laugh as the corner of my lips twitched upwards a little.
-Time Skip-
"Hey, captain, stop fooling around and lend me a hand for a sec!" Usopp scolded as the rough waves began to harshly rock the ship around.
"Whoa! Now that's what I call a tidal wave!" Luffy laughed as the barrel he was sitting on slid around the deck. "Oh! Scary!" he giggled at the clash of thunder.
"Looks like he's having fun" Robin smiled.
"When is he never not having fun?" I questioned, giggling alongside the captain as he came sliding past us.
"Tell me about it, I bet he'll be laughing even if the ship gets capsized..." Nami irritably grumbled.
"Come on now, you know that's not true" I grinned. "We both know you'd throw his ass overboard the second we capsized before he could even get a word out."
"She has a point" Robin agreed.
"I can't believe you two would think so lowly of me to believe I'd actually do something like that" Nami frowned. "For all you know, I'd throw your ass overboard first" she huffed.
"Aw, don't be like that—I know you love me" I chuckled as I lightly bumped the ginger's shoulder as she grumbled.
"Forget that—we need to worry about the mast snapping before anything else" Zoro said in response to Nami's comment about capsizing as he and Usopp desperately held the mast steady.
"It can really break? Then what's going to happen to us?" Chopper worriedly asked.
"Don't get so worked up, even if the mast does end up breaking that doesn't mean the ship will sink—and we got a navigator, don't we?" Sanji grinned. "She's smart and cute enough to get us out of any storm" he dreamily sighed.
"Well, he certainly knows how to flatter a woman when he wants to" I hummed as Nami gave the cook a thumbs up.
"But is he wrong?" she asked.
"Hm, you'll have to get back to me on that in three to six business days" I hummed, giggling as I held my hands in a weak form of defense against her swatting hand.
"We need to worry about the mast snapping before anything else" Porche's familiar voice suddenly said, catching our attention.
"It can really break? Then what's going to happen to us?" Hamburg worriedly asked.
"Probably nothing..." Jacob grumbled as I curiously moved over to the railing and looked down at the raging sea—watching as the four's pitifully small boat was harshly tossed around by the waves.
"Don't get so worked up" Foxy said. "Even if the mast does end up breaking, that still doesn't mean the ship will sink" he assured them.
"Hey, how's it going?!" Luffy shouted down at the small crew. "Long time no see!" he waved.
"Oh wow! Look, it's Straw Hat!" Porche brightened, eagerly waving back as I gagged—shivering in disgust when I caught sight of the flirtatious wink Jacob sent me.
"I won't stand for this! Straw Hat, don't even look at us—we haven't sunken for so long and we don't beg for help from our sworn enemies!" Foxy snapped.
"Okay, see you" Luffy waved as we continued to sail away.
"That was kind of cruel, don't you think?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Wait!" Foxy frantically shouted. "If you want to help us, we're okay with that, you know?!" he pleaded, sounding almost desperate for us to turn around and help.
"I think we should go back and help them because a tiny boat like that isn't going to last long in weather like this" I sighed, listening as the four started screaming and crying for help as they pleaded for us to come back.
"Whoa! That wave looks pretty bad!" Usopp gaped upon spotting the giant wave now heading toward the tiny crew's small boat.
"Skylar's right, a tiny boat like that won't stand a chance in this weather" Nami said.
"Hold on, I got it! Here, grab on!" Luffy shouted to the four as he stretched his arm out toward them—holding out a piece of rope for them to take. "No! Grab the rope, you dummies!" he snapped when they grabbed hold of his arm instead, causing his body to shoot forward.
"Luffy!" Usopp gasped as he and I quickly grabbed hold of the captain before he could go completely overboard. Shooting toward us, the four painfully smashed against the side of the ship as the waves started picking up. I clenched my jaw as I tightly held onto Usopp's legs while he clung onto Luffy who was still holding onto Foxy and them.
"Usopp, I can't do this alone!" I grounded as I tried to pull him and the others up, almost losing my grip on his pants legs until Zoro came up behind me and helped pull them all up. "Thanks..." I panted as he gave my back a firm pat.
"Well, this is all that's left of me..." Foxy sighed as we piled into the kitchen in an attempt to get out from under the storm. "My crew is gone and now I don't even have a ship to sail with...this is the end of the Silver Fox—I might as well face the music..." he bitterly muttered. "I'm a fool! It would have been better for everyone if I just let myself sink to the bottom of the ocean!"
