-Chapter Two Hundred and Eight-

"Besides, frogs normally do the breaststroke" Sanji said as if that was the problem with what the man had said.

"Awesome! I have got to see this frog!" Luffy excitedly grinned.

"A giant frog that does the front crawl?" I hummed in thought once the shock wore off. "I guess that would be something neat to see."

"That sounds crazy!" Usopp gaped in disbelief.

"It's the truth!" the blond quickly defended, not wishing to be pegged as a liar despite how bizarre his answer sounded.

"Yeah, that was Yokozuna" Aokiji nodded.

"Yokozuna?" Nami questioned.

"You know this frog?" I blinked.

"After what seemed like days of struggling, we were finally able to make it to this island" the blond informed us as he recounted his and the other's struggles after the wreck. "It didn't take long to deplete our food supply after one month—we were on the brink of starvation! Then we spotted someone approaching the island—we rejoiced until we noticed he was riding a bicycle" he heavily sighed.

"Come on! That's even more far-fetched than the frog" Usopp frowned.

"That was me" Aokiji admitted.

"The only boat we spotted after that looked like a pirate ship" the blond continued.

"That was us" Nami said.

"Looks like you guys weren't having much luck with anything" I sighed.

"Wow, that makes you one of those…uh...those...you know" Aokiji said, already drawing a blank as it seemed he couldn't remember the word that he was looking for.

"Spit it out, dammit!" Sanji and Usopp snapped.

"The government sure knows how to pick them..." I grumbled, causing Zoro to softly chuckle.

"Aw man, I forgot!" Luffy frowned before quickly being held back by Sanji and Usopp when they noticed that he was starting to advance toward the Admiral once again with the intention of fighting him. "Stop screwing us around, jerk!" he angrily snapped.

"Calm down, Luffy! Get a hold of yourself!" Usopp frantically cried.

"Take it easy!" Sanji scowled.

"Didn't you hear me?" Aokiji asked. "I told you, I'm just on a stroll."

"Stroll, huh?" Luffy glared, not quite believing the man. "Then take your stroll somewhere else—get out of here!" he snapped.

"Why are you so angry at me?" Aokiji raised an eyebrow before shrugging as if he really didn't care what had the teen so worked up. "Okay, whatever, I'll leave—but before I do, you guys should gather your stuff and get ready to leave too" he suddenly informed the survivors. "Fortunately, I know of a habited island that's not too far away from this one. You should go there and ask them to help you out" he suggested.

"Hey, you guys, don't believe a word he says—understand me?" Luffy frowned. "This jerk's a Marine officer" he huffed.

"Luffy, you can't be serious" I sweat dropped.

"So what? Is that a problem?" the blond from before curiously asked, naturally not understanding what was so bad about the man being a part of the Marines.

"Oh, that's right!" Luffy laughed in realization. "I guess that makes sense—normally, the Marines are your friends and the pirates are the bad guys, right?" he grinned.

"Stop it! What's so funny?!" Usopp snapped, hitting the captain in annoyance.

"Him? How is he going to help anybody?" Luffy asked once his laughter had subsided and he realized he had no idea how the Admiral planned to help anyone when he barely had anything on his person to begin with

"I don't know—heck, I don't think he even has a ship" Usopp shrugged.

"Other than ours, there isn't another ship anywhere" Chopper pointed out, recalling how the entire time we've been here, we haven't seen another ship outside our own.

"That's because he didn't come here on a ship" I said, crossing my arms.

"If that's the case, then let's see here...there's no ship and nobody here seems to have a Log Pose either" Usopp listed off as he looked around. "How in the world are they supposed to get to that island anyway?" he frowned, justifiably confused.

"Ah, they'll be fine" Aokiji waved off Usopp's concern as we followed him down to the shoreline.

"Nothing you say sounds the least bit convincing..." Usopp mumbled.

"It's true, he does have the power to help them" Robin nodded as we stopped for a second and waited for the survivors to gather their belongings in preparation to leave.

"We loaded them up on food and water—that should be enough to last them for a while" Sanji informed the Admiral once everyone was packed and ready to go.

"Feels good to do a little work from time to time" Aokiji remarked.

"Yeah, no doubt about that" Luffy agreed. "Hey, you know something, you're not so bad" he grinned, seemingly forgetting his earlier animosity towards the Marine.

"What do you know, they're hitting it off" Nami remarked in slight amusement before blinking when I suddenly grabbed hold of her sleeve. "Skylar?" she softly mumbled as I silently stared at the Admiral—not daring to get any closer to where he stood as I made sure to keep my distance.

"Okay, so what? Are you going to swim to that island and drag these guys' stuff behind you?" Luffy inquired, still unsure what the Admiral planned on doing to help these people reach the island he was talking about earlier.

"Don't be ridiculous—alright everybody, stay back" Aokiji ordered as he bent down and stuck his hands into the water. Slipping away from Nami once she became distracted by what the Admiral was doing, I wandered over to Zoro and wrapped my arms around him. I relaxed just the slightest the second I felt his firm body pressed against my own and bringing me a sense of comfort and safety.

"Something a matter?" he muttered, raising an eyebrow as he patted my shoulder before rubbing his hand up and down it. I said nothing, only moved closer while never once letting my gaze stray away from the Admiral down by the sea.

"What is that thing?" Luffy asked as a giant Sea King suddenly burst through the water.

"It's some kind of monster!" Usopp cried. "I bet it's the guardian of this part of the sea! Hey you, run for it—look out!" he panicked as he started screaming at the Marine who looked rather unfazed by the Sea King's sudden appearance.

"Get out of there!" Luffy shouted. "Gum Gum..." his arms started to stretch back as he prepared to attack the sea creature. Zoro was quick to do the same as he grabbed for his swords while gently motioning for me to get behind him.

"Ice Age" in an instant, Aokiji froze the water around his hand—freezing the Sea King as well in the process as its body stiffened and became coated in a thick layer of ice.

"A Devil Fruit?" Zoro frowned as I blankly stared at the icy wonderland before us—not surprised in the slightest about this sudden revelation.

"The sea! It's frozen!" Luffy gawked.

"This is the power of a Navy Headquarters Admiral" Robin said.

"There's a reason why they have that title" I said.

"It'll stay like that for a week—head out across the sea in that direction and take your time, you should reach the island in about four days" Aokiji instructed, assuring the people that if they did as he told them, they'd make it to land in no time. "It's going to be a little on the chilly side, so be sure to bundle up and stay warm" he warned.

"Is this a dream?" the blond-haired man from earlier breathed as he stared in awe at the stretch of frozen sea that seemed to go on forever. "The sea has become as hard as the ground—we can finally cross it now! We'll be able to get off this island!" he giddily cheered along with the rest of the survivors. "Thank you! Thank you so much! It's a miracle—the Marine granted us a miracle! Alright then, time for us to get going!" he brightly smiled, already on the verge of tears.

"Right, I'm really happy for you guys" Luffy smiled.

"Take care" Nami waved.

"Be safe" I softly waved as well as the people waved back at us.

"I guess there are all sorts of different pirates, huh? How could we ever thank you for everything you've done for us?" the blond asked. "Not only did you treat our sick and injured, but you shared your food and water with us as well" he smiled.

"Aw, don't worry about it!" Luffy laughed as he waved off the man's gratitude.

"Good things happen to good people, just let fate take its course" Usopp grinned.

"Make sure the children don't catch cold—keep them bundled up tight!" Chopper instructed.

"Yeah, we wouldn't want any of the cuties catching a cold" I smiled, momentarily distracted by the people we were helping once more as I watched the children Nami and I had helped tend and feed happily wave and shout their goodbyes back at us.

"At any rate, these colder temperatures should keep your food fresh longer" Sanji said, looking on the bright side.

"Thank you all very much! We will never forget your kindness!" the blond-haired man smiled as he and the others finally started to leave. "Take care, Straw Hat Pirates!" he waved as they got further away.

"That felt really good" Luffy grinned before shivering alongside Usopp as they now became aware of just how cold it had gotten.

"A lot of good deeds feel good when the ending result is good" I hummed, happy that we were able to help those people before anything terrible could further happen to them.

"Check it out!" Chopper laughed as he started to skate across the iced-over ocean. "I can skate!"

"Whoa! Awesome, Chopper!" Luffy excitedly grinned.

"Magnificent!" I whistled, clapping as I chuckled upon hearing the reindeer happily laugh.

"Must be that winter island blood" Usopp teased as he and the captain burst out into a fit of laughter.

"Man, it's cold" Luffy shivered as we finally made our way off of the icy ocean and back onto dry land.
