" Scar! You ready?" Michael's voice hit my ears hard as I groaned. I got up and huffed.
" Give me thirty minutes." I called back. I heard the footsteps walk away. I got up and changed into a red racerback tank top and some torn-up black jeans. I grabbed my flannel and tied it around my waist. I zipped my black leather boots and brushed my shoulder-length hair. I walked out after I had put on my black lipstick.
" People will mistake you for being dead if you wear that color." Sam said as I ruffled his hair.
" She's already pale, might as well be the Walking Dead." Michael joked as I smirked.
" Oh, Ha Ha original!" I said sarcastically before grabbing my keys. Michael chuckled before I walked outside and onto my bike. Mom and Sam hopped into the car and Michael got on his bike. We made our way to the boardwalk.
" What are you going to do?" Michael asked as Sam came up.
" Follow you." Sam said as I got off my bike.
" I'm going to explore. See you two later." I said before walking into the crowd. Music began to blare as I walked to the rail. I see people gathered at the beach as a very greased-up man began to sing and play the saxophone.
" Music breaths through this town." I told myself before walking away. I found myself back at my bike as I just watched the swarm of people move.
" Nice bike." A husky voice said giving me a slight start. I turned to see a rather handsome guy looking at my bike and then at me. He had these deep blue eyes that felt like they were piercing my soul. I noticed that he was wearing a dark black trench coat with black gloves, jeans, and boots. His hair was in a mullet-like style and very blonde, almost platinum. He had an earring in his right ear.
" Thank you, she is my baby." I said as he looked closer at it. I can feel my heart beating quicker and my face getting hot.
" Yamaha Virago XV500?" He asked as I smiled.
" You got it." I replied as I saw three more boys come up on bikes.
" What do we have hear?" One with long blonde curly hair asked.
" Looks like a girl who knows how to ride!" The dark-haired one says with a smirk.
" Seems like a cool girl to hang!" The last guy with wild twisted hair said with a smirk.
" I didn't catch your name." Blue eyes asked me as I took a breath that I didn't know I was holding in.
" Scarlet. Scarlet Emerson." I replied as he smiled. I almost felt weak in the knees but tried to keep my composure.
" My name is David. This is Marko, Paul, and Dwayne." He said as I gave them a small friendly wave. I notice they each have a different type of earring in their right ear.
" How long have you been riding?" David asked as I leaned on my bike.
" About 3 months." I replied as he smiled.
" Think you would like to hang with us?" David asked as I almost felt hypnotized by his gaze. I shrugged.
" I'm here with my two brothers and promised to meet up with them later." I replied as I saw him smirk.
" Not even for a little bit?" He asked as I let out a sigh.
" Sure why not? I've got nothing better to do." I replied as he let out a small smile and the boys cheered.
" What do you call yourselves? Seems like you are a group." I asked as I walked with the four of them as the music kept booming in the background.
" The Lost Boys." Paul said as Marko smiled.
" No family?" I asked as we all walked together. I felt kind of at home as we walked.
" Not our thing. Folks up and left us. It's us against the world." Dwayne replied as I found myself with them at the end of the boardwalk. I sat on the rail. They sat by my side.
" Seems like you are very pale." Paul said as I chuckled.
" Never really like to stay awake during the day." I replied as I looked up at the night sky. Cheers and hollers were coming towards us as I saw these greaser-looking idiots coming up.
" Look at this hot piece of ass!" One said as he grinned. I was all creeped out.
" Let us take you home baby." Another yelled out as more of them wolf-whistled.
" Get the fuck away from her." David said with an annoyance to his tone.
" Oh, it's not like she is your bitch." The greaser said as I got up. I felt one of them grab my hand before I slapped him.
" Watch it needle dick." I sternly said as he looked angered. I felt a presence next to me as I saw David and his friends come by my side.
" Best to listen to the girl." David said in an almost persuasive way. The greasers huffed before they walked away.
" I didn't think you had the balls to slap that asshole." Paul said with a smile.
" Well, I don't like it when some loser thinks that he can catcall me into sleeping with him." I said as Marko let out a belly laugh that made Dwayne smile and David snicker.
" I think we already like you." David said as I got weak in the knees all over again. God, what was he doing to me?
" Seems so." I replied as I saw the crowd getting more rowdy down at the beach.
" I think I gotta head back sadly." I said as David nodded. His friends looked kind of sad that I told them I had to leave.
" That's alright. But you have to promise to come see us again. I would be sad to not see someone as beautiful as you again." David said with that catty smirk. I felt my face get hotter as we went back.
" So no girlfriend?" I asked as I kind of tried to get off the thought of David saying beautiful.
" Haven't found the right girl to fuel my fire." He replied in a husk tone that made me think all kinds of things.
" Damn shame." I said as we found ourselves back at my bike. I watched as David took one last look at me before disappearing with his friends.
" They seem like the kind of crowd to know a thing or two about this place." I said to myself as I saw Michael and Sam coming towards me. I see my twin's eyes following a girl, who got on the back of David's bike. Maybe his other friend?
" Come on, she stiffed you. Ha." Sam said to Michael, who let out a huff.
" Sammy? What was that about?" I asked him as he shrugged.
" He's been chasing this girl all night. I went to a comic book store." He said with a shrug and then a smile as he said comic book. I smirked and ruffled his hair.
" What did you do all night?" He asked as I smirked.
" Got to hang with a local crowd. Got into a small amount of trouble, but I'm alright." I said as I felt the small hint of heat hit my cheeks.
" God it's like both of you are hyped on your sex glands!" He said as I felt my face get hot!
" And yet you are a 14-year-old. Soon you will be chasing girls." Michael said as I saw Sam's face get red with embarrassment.
" Ease up on him Mikey." I say in a coy tone.
" You heading home?" He asked as I nodded.
" Yeah, I'm getting pretty tired. I felt cramped in the back of that car all fucking day." I replied as he gave me a hug. I got on my bike and rode back to Grandpa's house. As I rode back, I felt the wind in my hair and swore it felt like I was being watched.
" Freaky." I said before heading inside and going to my room. I shut the door and removed my clothes. I put on a black crop top and some yoga pants. I crawled into bed and curled up.
" To fly away and never grow up would be a dream." I said as I felt my eyelids growing heavy. I let the darkness consume my very being.
Fly away with us. The night is young. The boys cried and screamed. The warm air becomes welcoming from the cold.
You never have to grow up! They hollered with joy.
Never have to be afraid of risk! Another cheered.
Never have to be alone again. The alluring voice said as the girl let her hair move through the wind. Her skin became one with the sky and stars.
