-Chapter Two Hundred and Twelve-
"Man, this pie stuff is delicious! I can't stop eating it!" Luffy grinned as he continued to stuff his face.
"Yeah, I know!" Chopper agreed.
"I bet we could make some money selling this stuff" Usopp remarked, thinking in a similar manner as Nami would.
"Luffy, come quick!" Zoro shouted over at the captain.
"There's a…there's a frog doing the front crawl!" I gaped, refusing to take my eyes off the giant frog swimming our way despite my disbelief.
"What?" Luffy blinked.
"See for yourself—it's headed your way!" Zoro pointed.
"Really?" Luffy excitedly grinned.
"I wonder if it's the same frog we heard about" Chopper wondered, recalling the frog both the shipwreck survivors and Aokiji had mentioned to us.
"Probably" I shrugged, unable to recall the name of the frog the Admiral had mentioned at the moment. "Surely there can't be that many giant frogs out here doing the front crawl" I said, refusing to believe that this was a common species of frog.
"Come on, Luffy, are you really going to take anything that goofy Admiral told you seriously?" Usopp frowned. "There's no way a frog could do the front crawl" he huffed before looking over the railing and down at the frog swimming past us. "Holy crap! There's a frog doing the front crawl!" he gawked.
"Come on, after him!" Luffy quickly ordered.
"Aye! Aye!" Zoro, Usopp, and Chopper nodded as I owlishly blinked.
"What? Why?" I asked as a pair of binoculars were hastily shoved into my hands with the short order for me to keep a watch on the frog so we wouldn't lose sight of it.
"Tuck in the sails! Stand by the oars! Bring the ship about two o'clock!" Luffy threw out order after order as his excitement made him practically deaf to my confusion.
"Aye! Aye!" the three nodded as they followed the captain's orders without question.
"This makes absolutely no sense—why do we have to follow it?" I asked a bit louder.
"I don't know why, but I get the feeling that we really have to follow it" Zoro was the only one to answer.
"That's not a good enough reason" I shook my head. "Nami's not going to be pleased" I argued, already aware that the ginger wasn't going to be happy with us suddenly changing course without consulting her first.
"You're darn right I'm not—what's the big deal here?!" Nami frowned as she stepped out of the kitchen. "Why did you change our course without asking me?" she asked, displeased that the men had made such a rash decision without asking.
"Nami, you're never going to believe it!" Luffy excitedly grinned, unfazed by the ginger's frustration with him and the other three. "We found this huge frog with scars all over its body and we're following it!" he eagerly told her.
"A frog? What?" Nami blinked before frowning in confusion.
"We have to catch up to it and capture it! Cook it and eat it for lunch!" Luffy proclaimed.
"You want to eat it?!" Zoro, Chopper, and I gaped, baffled by our captain's reason for following the frog all of a sudden. I owlishly blinked when Nami suddenly held her hand out, silently demanding to see the binoculars with the curl of her hand as I gladly handed her it without any hesitation.
"You're right..." Nami murmured the moment she spotted the frog through the binoculars. "Huh? Is that a lighthouse?" she suddenly asked, suddenly spotting something in the distance. "Now what is a lighthouse doing way out here? I wonder if anyone lives there..." she muttered to herself.
"What's up? Do you see any island?" Luffy asked.
"Not really, it's just a lighthouse—there's not enough there for the Log Pose to point to" Nami answered.
"What about the frog?" Luffy asked. "Tell us which way the frog went."
"Not a chance" Nami shook her head, refusing to indulge the captain any more than the rest of us have.
"It looks like the frog is headed towards the lighthouse" Robin pointed out, much to the ginger's dismay.
"Huh? Looks like you're right" I agreed as I took back the binoculars and took a peek, quick to spot the frog swimming toward the lighthouse Nami had spotted.
"Frog should be marinated in white wine to dissolve the mucus then you cook them with flour and cook them up crispy..." Sanji mumbled to himself, already making plans on how he was going to serve up the frog once it was caught.
"Sanji, snap out of it!" Nami snapped.
"Wait, that actually sounds good" I said, stomach rumbling just a little at the thought.
"Oh, you sound just as bad as Luffy!" Nami huffed.
"If the captain says we're going after the frog, we really don't have much of a choice in the matter" Robin softly smiled as she crossed her arms.
"She's right, you know" I chuckled. "Captain's orders are captain's orders."
"Robin! Skylar!" Nami whined.
"Let's go! Full speed ahead!" Luffy grinned.
"Aye! Aye!" we shouted.
"Why are you all going along with him?" Nami dejectedly murmured.
"Because why not?" I laughed while comfortingly patting her back.
"It's flying!" Luffy gawked when the frog suddenly jumped into the air. "Quick! Don't let it get away—let's get up ahead of it and block its course!" he ordered before we jolted forward as the ship came to a sudden halt.
"I guess we ran ashore or something" Usopp dizzily guessed as Sanji shakily stood.
"Nami? Robin? Skylar? Say something—are you three alright?" the blond worriedly asked, rubbing his head from where he had hit it when he fell.
"Uh...yeah, I think I'm okay..." Nami weakly responded.
"Nothing's broken, so I'm pretty sure I'm alright" I answered.
"Same" Robin nodded.
"Ah, thank goodness" Sanji sighed in relief before blinking at the sudden sound of a tolling bell.
"What's that sound?" Nami warily questioned.
"Sounds like a bell" I said.
"What the heck? What's going on?" Usopp frowned as he started looking around.
"No way...out here...?" Nami suddenly muttered in disbelief, her eyes widening as I paled the moment I spotted the train that was charging right at us. "Full reverse right now! Turn 180 degrees!" she hastily ordered.
"What the hell is that?!" Sanji gaped.
"Turn the ship around now! Hurry!" Nami frantically shouted as the men quickly grabbed hold of the oars once more and began trying to push the ship back into the water. My heart anxiously thundered away within my chest as the wind started to pick up—and just as the train got close enough to almost hit us, we shot forward. Flying off the rails and back into the ocean as the train shot by,
"Whoa...that was close..." Luffy panted as we landed back in the water.
"You're telling me..." I weakly agreed, trembling just a little after such a close encounter as I watched the train fly by.
"That hunk of metal is trying to kill us!" Usopp cried.
"Was it a ship?" Chopper questioned as I shook my head.
"No way! Something that big and heavy shouldn't even be able to float!" Nami frowned.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" Luffy gasped when the frog from earlier suddenly hopped in front of the train. "Get out of the way!" he shouted.
"Ooh..." I winced the second it was struck by the train and sent flying through the air.
"Oh no, Froggy!" Luffy worriedly cried as the frog crashed back into the water while the train continued onwards toward its destination as if nothing had even happened.
"It looked like it was spitting out smoke" Chopper remarked as he took note of the smoke billowing from the train's chimney.
"Granny! Granny! Look—we have pirates!" we heard a young girl suddenly shout from a nearby platform—without realizing it, we had reached the lighthouse Nami had spotted earlier.
"What? Is that true, Chimney?" an old woman questioned from where she lay on the ground. "Okie dokie then, in that case, bring Granny that Transponder Snail" she instructed, not even bothering to move herself.
"It's going to be a big pain if they call for help and the Marines show up" Zoro grunted. "What should we do?" he asked as he looked to the rest of us
"Here it is, Granny" Chimney said, sitting Transponder Snail down within reach of the old woman.
"Uh...hello? Who is this?" the old woman asked as if she had forgotten why she had asked for the Transponder Snail in the first place. "Sorry, you got the wrong number" and with that, she hung up without ever really making a call herself to begin with.
"I...I don't think we have anything to worry about..." I sweat dropped.
