-Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty-

"This is all your fault, Zoro!" Nami snapped as she spared a glance back at the swordsman that was trailing behind us.

"The whole town is looking for us! It was going to happen sooner or later, wasn't it?!" Zoro snapped right back as I laughed.

"He's right—but right now, instead of pointing fingers, perhaps we should focus on not getting caught" I said.

"You can't run forever!" someone in the crowd sneered.

"This way!" Luffy ordered as he motioned for us all to take a sharp turn down a nearby alleyway.

"Right!" Nami and I nodded as Luffy quickly stretched his arm all the way back to grab hold of Zoro who had continued running forward.

"Where'd they go?!"

"Check the alley!"

"You don't think they're on the rooftops, do you?"

"Dammit! We lost them!"

"I don't get it—I'm sure they went this way!"

"We better keep moving!"

"Alright, but we better check inside the buildings too!"

"Good! We'll split up, let's go!" I breathlessly sighed in relief as I listened to the crowd of people as they disburse and went their separate ways. Luffy clenched his jaw as he desperately clung underneath the bridge, trying his best to stay perfectly still as Nami, Zoro, and I sat on his back—no doubt he was struggling to keep his grip on the bridge without letting our added weight on his back drag him down. It was the only thing we could think to do to escape from the crowd of people.

"Is it okay now?" Luffy whispered.

"Wait a sec" Zoro whispered back.

"I don't know if he can" I quietly said the minute I spotted the strained look on our captain's face.

"Just a little longer" Nami mumbled as we silently listened to the last of the footsteps disappear. With a sigh of relief, Luffy finally let go and we all went falling into the water below. It was cold to the touch and I was quick to swim to shore, followed by Nami who was then closely followed by Zoro who was dragging a soaking wet Luffy onto shore behind him. We all stayed still, quietly discussing our next plan of action before Chopper suddenly came rushing towards us. It wasn't long before we all finally decided to take shelter on top of one of the rooftops.

"Looks like the crowd cleared out" Zoro remarked.

"Yeah, no thanks to you" Nami frowned. "I'll have you know that Luffy and I had a perfectly good hiding place until you lead that angry mob straight to us—I bet Skylar was doing just fine as well before you found her" she accused.

"Eh, I was okay before I ran into him" I shrugged, and it wasn't a lie as I knew that due to my hood being up earlier that not many people had paid any attention to me due to not getting a clear look at my face.

"Like I said, with that many people looking, they were going to find you anyways" Zoro defended, already starting to become irritated with the ginger.

"Oh yeah, that reminds me—how'd you know we were down there, Chopper?" Luffy asked, recalling how quick the reindeer had been in finding us despite not having known our location previously.

"Your smell" Chopper answered.

"Makes sense seeing how you're an animal" I hummed.

"Ah, should have known" Luffy nodded. "But wait, wasn't Sanji with you?" he asked.

"Well, he was" Chopper said before explaining to us what had happened before he found us.

"No way! That doesn't make any sense—did Robin really say that to you?!" Luffy frowned as it sounded more like he wasn't asking but more or less demanding an answer from the reindeer. It hurt when the doctor nodded his head to confirm all he had said, but at the same time, it didn't really surprise me all that much that Robin had finally decided to depart from us.

"We were prepared for this" Zoro said as he took hold of one of his swords. "Weren't we? After all, Robin was our enemy before we let her join the crew—this might be our only chance to find out the truth, so we shouldn't run away" he told us. "There's still a lot of things we don't know about Robin, now it's time to decide if she's a friend or a foe. You sure that's all she said, Chopper?" he asked upon hearing the exact words that Robin had spoken to the reindeer.

"She says she won't see us after today and that things are only going to get worse, maybe that means the attack on Iceburg was just a warm-up and she has something even bigger planned for tonight" the swordsman said. "I don't know why Robin's doing any of this, but it's hard to make a guess at what she's planning—but seeing how much commotion her first attack on the mayor caused, there's only one way to make things worse."

"In other words...she'll murder him" Nami reluctantly said.

"It's the only thing that makes sense, going through with actually killing the man will surely put the whole island in an uproar" I said.

"I think that's what she's trying to tell us" Zoro nodded. "Also, since she told Chopper that she'll be pinning the crime on us, it could be she's feeding us all these little hints to try and lure us into the crime scene tonight" he concluded.

"Think so?" Chopper questioned.

"If that is her plan, it would be convenient for her if we did happen to show up because that would put us at the scene of the crime" Zoro said.

"You say you don't know what she's thinking, but it sounds to me like you've already decided she's our enemy" Nami frowned.

"I'm talking about possibilities here" Zoro said. "That's all, we should always be prepared for the worst-case scenario, understand?" he asked. "If I get locked into a single line of thinking, it'll only slow me down—if she's my friend, I have to be ready to forgive, but if she's my enemy then I have to be ready to fight. Our best chance to settle this is tonight, are we going?" he asked.

"Of course!" Luffy firmly nodded.

"It's not that I object to the plan, but we're still forgetting something" Nami said. "Sanji said he saw Robin walking with someone with a mask, remember? Obviously, that wasn't one of us, but Iceburg said exactly the same thing—that he was attacked by Robin and a large man in a mask that he didn't recognize!" she frowned as she referred back to the newspaper. "Whoever he is, I bet he's the reason Robin is doing all this stuff!" she argued, not wanting to believe that our friend had attempted to kill a man of her own free will.

"Yeah, that makes sense" Chopper nodded. "It isn't her fault and we just need to beat up the real bad guys, right?" he hopefully asked.

"I have to agree with them, none of us was truly there and there's the chance that Robin is just lumped in as an accomplice—for all we know, the masked man was the only one to shoot and Robin was just there, blackmail is a possibility in this scenario" I said.

"That's the ideal situation, but on the other hand, it's also possible that this guy is one of Robin's friend" Zoro pointed out.

"The problem is, we don't have much to go on other than a big man in a mask, so where do we even start? I mean, what's our goal here?" Nami asked.

"We find Robin and capture her" Luffy answered as he stood up. "That's the only way we'll ever know the truth" he said.

"You're right, but we're wasting time trying to figure it out" Zoro nodded in agreement. "Just one thing, Robin won't be easy to catch—after all, the World Government has been trying for twenty years and it still hasn't happened."

"She's clever, so she won't easily let herself get caught" I nodded.

"Like he said, it's the only way we'll really know for sure" Nami said as she stood up.

"Yeah, let's settle this right now!" Chopper agreed as Zoro and I pushed ourselves up into a standing position.

"Right, come on! Galley-La's waiting!" Luffy grinned.

-Later-

I tightly clung onto Zoro's back as he held onto Luffy who used his Devil Fruit powers to swing around while Chopper followed close behind as he carried Nami on his back.

"You look like you're having fun" I teasingly mumbled into the uncomfortable looking swordsman's ear.

"Shut up, you don't look any better" he grumbled right back as we finally came to a stop on one of the trees close to the Galley-La building.

"There sure are a lot of people out there" Chopper remarked as we looked at the crowd of people that were gathered in front of the building.

"Well, their mayor was shot, so this isn't surprising—wouldn't you do your best to make sure that the attackers don't return and finish the job?" I asked, watching as he nodded his head in understanding.

"It's a little far too" Luffy noted.

"It'll be fine if you rocket through the window, right?" Nami asked. "After Robin shows up, I mean" she quickly clarified, not wanting the rubber man to charge on ahead before Robin even had a chance to show up.

"That's right—if we make a commotion first, then they'll just sneak in while we're dealing with the guards, let's be patient" Zoro agreed. "Sounds like something's going on down there, what do you see?" he asked Chopper when we suddenly heard a loud commotion coming from the building, it almost sounded like...cheering?

"They're all kind of standing around now" Chopper answered as he looked through the binoculars he was holding. "But, they're all huge and armed and angry!" he shivered.

"We need to be careful, those guys have a reputation for handling themselves when push comes to shove—we don't want to rush in and do anything we might regret later" Nami frowned as I hummed in agreement.

"Yeah, if we try to barge in swinging, we'll just be asking for trouble" Luffy nodded.

"Right and we wouldn't want any trouble..." Nami grumbled, looking annoyed with the rubber man. "Says the guy who barged in, in broad daylight..." her head droop downwards at the memory as I gave her back a reassuring pat.

"There, there" I cooed. "At least it's the middle of the night this time" I said.

"Anyways, don't take your eyes off them, Chopper" Zoro ordered. "We don't want any kind of surprise down there" he said.

"Right!" Chopper nodded as he continued to look through the binoculars and keep a close eye on the building.

"Anything happens, you let us know" Zoro told him.

"Okay, you got it" Chopper nodded once again.

"I think we're going to have a really long night ahead of us, if we blow our opportunity, it's over" Zoro said. "We can't let our guard down, no matter what" he said. "If we want to know the truth about Robin, then it has to be tonight or never."

"Yeah, I got a feeling we'll be talking to her real soon" Luffy agreed.

"Whoa! Something blew up!" Chopper gasped as a sudden explosion rang out from the company. "So they all seem pretty worked up down there" he noted.

"Yeah, there's definitely something going on right now" Zoro said. "Alright then, when are we going to make our move?" he asked.

"I'm guessing right now" I sweat dropped once I noticed that our captain was now gone.

"Hey, where's Luffy?" Chopper curiously asked when he too took notice that our captain was missing and nowhere to be seen.
