-Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty-Three-

"You said you people aren't real shipwrights, so does that mean you lied about the Merry too?" Zoro asked.

"Unfortunately, no—I was quite honest about my assessment" Kaku admitted as Zoro started to push him back.

"I'm sorry to hear that" Zoro said as he and the long-nosed man started to fight—I looked from them to Luffy, who had finally pushed himself up off the ground, and then to Robin who was now standing on the windowsill to the open window.

"Don't go, Robin!" Luffy begged. "We're not done talking yet!" he frowned.

"No, it's over, this is the last time you'll see me" Robin said, refusing to look back at him or any of us really.

"Robin!" Nami cried.

"Please!" I pleaded as Zoro shattered Kaku's swords.

"Luffy, go after Robin! Whatever happens—don't let her get away!" Zoro ordered as the rubber man started to scream and rush right towards the raven-haired woman.

"Confident, huh?" Kaku questioned. "You really shouldn't take your eyes off me!" he jabbed his finger three times into Zoro's torso without a second thought.

"Zoro!" Chopper worriedly cried.

"You bastard!" I sneered.

"Finger Pistol" Kaku grinned as I clenched my jaw, soon his head perked up when I growled and drew one of my swords as I now rushed right towards him. Body coming to a jolting halt as I was suddenly yanked back by Chopper who had grabbed the back of my shirt and jacket with his teeth.

"Chopper, let go!" I cried out as I looked back at the reindeer, quick to take note of the tears welling up in his eyes as he continued to tug me back with every attempt I made to struggle forward.

"No, you'll end up getting hurt and we both know that Zoro wouldn't want that!" Chopper cried through clenched teeth.

"There, turns out that there are some things deadlier than bullets" Kaku said as I wailed in frustration, growing infuriated with how cocky and proud the man sounded with himself.

"What's your problem?!" Luffy sneered as Lucci had a hold of his face and kept him from advancing any closer towards Robin. Soon the rubber man started to wildly punch at the man repeatedly.

"All those punches and he's not even blinking!" Nami gaped as my sword clattered to the floor and Chopper's jaw fell open, releasing my clothing.

"Everything's a mess..." I weakly muttered as I looked around the room—as I looked at all the damage that had been caused because of these people.

"I have him, now go" Lucci told Robin as she finally jumped out the window and disappeared from sight.

"Robin!" Nami, Chopper, and I cried, tears now streaming down my cheeks as I looked from Zoro, who was struggling to move, and then to Luffy who was carelessly tossed aside by the agent.

"Luffy!" Nami whimpered.

"Zoro!" I cried as the moss haired man shakily stood up.

"I don't believe it! H-how can he be so strong?" Nami shakily asked.

"I knew you were tough, but this is too much" Paulie groaned.

"We're not like you, as members of CP9 and for as long as we can remember, we've been trained to surpass the limits of the human body and vowed to hone the skills to an instrument of absolute justice" Lucci said which caused something to snap inside of me. "The results of that training of the superhuman technique is the Six Powers."

-Everybody's P.O.V-

"Justice?" the words were said with such venom that it caused everyone in the room to grow silent as they looked towards the brunette that had spoken them. There was something different about her, her eyes were narrowed with such hatred that it caused a shiver to race up Nami's spine as the air around her was one like a person of high authority—a person who now demanded to be listened to. "You call what you're doing justice?" Skylar asked.

"Skylar...?" Nami quietly questioned as the brunette started to advance towards Lucci without a second thought. He noted right away that the air around her was just like the air that Varen carried around himself whenever he stopped by to check up on one of the members of CP9. It was the kind of air a person of a higher status carried with them when in the presence of people beneath them—the kind of air that demanded respect and attention, that told those around them that they were in the presence of someone mighty important.

"Just look around you, two innocent people are badly injured—hell, let's count the ones lying all around this fucking building—all of them bleeding to death because of your sick twisted form of justice!" Skylar snapped, her eyes widening the closer she got to the man as her breathing picked up. "Is this what you all think justice is supposed to look like?! Fuck everyone but those that you deem worthy—it seems the only people that matter are you and your corrupted government! Not the innocent people that you're meant to protect!" she snarled.

"Skylar, wait!" Chopper cried out when he saw the way Lucci's hand began to twitch as if it was ready to strike.

"You're all nothing but corrupted sick bastards that think because you have all this power you can do whatever the fuck you want! You're sick, twisted, disgusting pieces of—" the brunette didn't get to finish when a pain suddenly shot through her body and she was lifted up onto her toes by the five fingers shoved into her stomach.

"You're annoying" Lucci bitterly muttered—there was no doubt in his mind now that she was that infuriating Admiral's daughter, the air around her made him irritated...then again, she was probably trained to carry such an air about her when talking to those beneath her father's ranking. "You may be his daughter, but I will not sit here and be lectured by some disgraceful brat that ran off to be a pirate—you are not our main target, Nico Robin is, you are nothing to me" he harshly whispered to the brunette as he pulled her close until his lips barely brushed against her ear. He did not care that she was an Admiral's daughter, he did not care that the government currently wanted her returned home to her father—his mission only revolved around the Ancient Weapon of Pluton blueprints and ensuring that Nico Robin was safely handed over to the government. He had no desires to deal with some brat going through her teenage rebellion, they can chew him out later for not snatching her up here and now for all he cared, Robin and his mission were far more important than some whiny ingrate that ran away from home over eight years ago.

"Skylar!" Nami and Chopper cried out when the brunette's body was roughly thrown down to the floor. She was still conscious, breathing heavily before harsh coughs started to violently shake her body as blood leaked from her mouth.

"Did...did I strike a nerve...?" she wheezed as a shaky grin pulled at her lips. "You...you think...you think your words mean...mean anything to me? Y-you barely compare...compare to him" she whispered.

"You bastard!" Zoro sneered, his blood already starting to boil with anger as he harshly glared at the government agent. Luffy was silent for a moment as he stared at the scene before him until finally, his jaw clenched as his body started to shake with anger.

-Skylar's P.O.V-

It hurt—the pain hurt like hell as I shakily wrapped my arms around my bleeding stomach and continued to hold eye contact with the man, my breathing coming out in wheezing rasps. My grin never once falling as he glared down at me with a look of utter disgust in his eyes before finally, he harshly kicked my body away and back towards Nami and Chopper—the ginger haired woman quick to stop me before I could go any further.

"Skylar, are you alright?" she worriedly asked, but I didn't answer her as I instead only continued to stare at the agent. Slowly did my grin seem to widen as I realized that I had actually struck a nerve with my words...how amusing, even with how calm that exterior of his is, he couldn't handle getting chewed out by some "disgraceful brat."

"So, now I'm sure it's abundantly clear to you why the four of us are the government's most elite agents" Lucci cleared his throat as he gathered himself and went straight back to talking, trying to act like he hadn't just violently lashed out at an Admiral's daughter—I wonder how much trouble he'll get in because of that. "And by the same token, you must also realize how miserably weak a band of pirates is in comparison—of course, the full extent of our power is strictly classified" he continued. "But, rest assure, scum like you would never make the cut."

"Lucci, the ignition device is about to detonate" Kalifa suddenly said. "We should probably hurry" she said as she motioned to the raven-haired man that it was time for them to leave.

"But, a chance like this one is quite rare, let me show you something interesting" Lucci grinned

"You're kidding me!" Pauli gaped as my eyes widened while I watched how the man's body slowly started to transform—started to grow in height as his bones rearranged themselves and fur seemed to just grow overtop of his skin. "Lucci, what the hell is this?!" the blond asked.

"A Devil Fruit..." I breathed out.

"He's huge!" Luffy gaped.

"Devil Fruit powers!" Nami gasped as Chopper started to scream.

"Which one is it?" Luffy asked.

"Lucci…what in the…" Paulie couldn't finish as he stared in shock up at the giant leopard that stood in front of us.

"Cat Cat Fruit—the Leopard Model" Lucci said.

"A human leopard?" Zoro questioned.

"He's huge!" Luffy repeated.

"What's going on here?! What in the hell are you?!" Paulie snapped as the smell of smoke now started to infiltrate the room.

"It seems the fire is beginning to spread" Lucci remarked as the blond stood up.

"Leopard? Human? Whatever the hell you are—you're not going to lay one finger on Iceburg, you hear me?!" Paulie sneered.

"No! He's a Carnivore Zoan Type, they're the most brutal of them all!" Chopper shouted when the blond showed signs of getting ready to attack.

"Indeed" Lucci nodded. "Logia Types, Zoan Types, Paramecia Types—each one extremely powerful in their own unique way, the abilities to enhance one's own personal strength happens to be the specialty of the Zoan Type" he explained. "In other words, the more we train, the stronger we get...which makes the Zoan Type the most lethal when it comes to attacks in close range" he narrowed his eyes.

"Shut the hell up! Nobody here gives a damn about what monster can do what!" Paulie snapped.

"Just as well, we're running out of time" Lucci said. "Before the flames engulf this place, we're to make sure that all of you are properly disposed of" his eyes zeroed in on me, a flash of something—intrigue maybe—overcoming his gaze as if he had a sudden idea whirling around in that head of his.

"Lucci, the workmen are making their way up the stairs" Kalifa pointed out.

"Don't worry, they'll never make it this far" Lucci reassured her. "Tempest Kick!" and with that, he cut the top part of the room which caused the building to shake as it slowly started to cave in on itself.

"Nami! Skylar!" Chopper gasped when a large chunk of debris started to fall towards us. Nami fearfully screamed as she tightly wrapped her arms around me before Chopper rushed towards us and knocked us out of the way.

"Chopper!" Nami and I cried out when we saw the debris hit the reindeer.

"What are you doing?!" Iceburg scowled as Paulie ran towards him.

"No matter what, I'm getting you out of here!" Paulie huffed as he helped the wounded man to stand up.

"There's no way, we can't let you do that" Kalifa said as she and the other agents now blocked the blonde's path.

"And I'm afraid you're going to have to step aside" Paulie frowned. "Get out of my way! Damn you, why did it have to be you guys?!" he asked, tears welling up in his eyes the longer he stared at the group. "No, I can't believe you—how could you do this?! You tricked me! I thought you were my friends!" he choked out.

"Then you were mistaken" Lucci said as he advanced towards the blond—raising a claw hand as he prepared to strike the man down.

"Talking pigeon jerk!" Luffy growled as he stretched his arm back before punching the leopard.

"Luffy, what are you—" Paulie was cut off as he watched the rubber man go in for another attack before having his stomach suddenly pierced by the leopard's clawed finger.

"Finger Pistol" Lucci carelessly dropped the raven-haired captain back to his feet.

"Luffy!" Zoro cried out as I scrunched up my nose in disgust the minute the leopard licked the blood from his claw.

"Have a nice flight" Lucci grinned as he suddenly picked Luffy up and threw him right through the wall.

"Luffy!" Nami screamed.

"You bastard!" I snarled.

"Damn you!" Zoro growled as he rushed right towards the leopard.

"Iron Body" Lucci stopped Zoro's sword from piercing through his flesh as my breathing now started to pick up while my eyes widened when he harshly kicked the swordsman through the ceiling.

"Zoro! You monster!" I screamed, body shaking as he turned his attention towards Nami and I. Growling, I shakily pushed myself to stand despite the protest that came from Nami as I picked up my sword that I had dropped earlier and held it out—protectively stepping in front of our navigator

"Now, it's both of your twos turn" Lucci said as he peered down at me. "I've heard that the Strife family can be quite stubborn—they're not known to die that easily, I wonder how true that is" he said as his lips slowly tugged up into a cruel grin. "I wonder if you'll still be alive by the time we come back for you" I tensed as my body slowly started to shake as he seemed to just tower over both Nami and me.

-Later-

"Hey, wait! Those two women are with the Straw Hats—I'm sure of it!" I weakly groaned as I slowly blinked my eyes open and stared up at the blurry night sky for a second, attempting to clear my vision before finally taking in my surroundings. Nami laid sprawled out beside me while the Galley-La building was currently up in flames and lighting up the night sky—there were also a bunch of men crowded around us, their expressions all mixed as they lowly murmured to one another. I clenched my jaw the minute I attempted to move, my body crying out in pain at my actions as my mind attempted to soothingly coax me into stilling and continue resting.

"Did they jump out from one of the windows?" I heard one of the men ask as I opened my mouth in an attempt to speak, only instead for a harsh cough to come out as blood spilled from my lips and splattered down my chin as I gave a wheezed gasp. My nostrils burned from the overwhelming smell of smoke in the air as the fire nearby continued to rage on and it wasn't long before a pitifully weak moan slipped past my lips.

"They probably got trapped in the fire and didn't have any other choice" another man assumed.

"Well, what should we do with them?" I didn't know what to do—I didn't know whether these men were aware of the truth or not...all I could really do at the moment was painfully turn onto my side and scoot myself closer towards Nami until I could protectively wrap my arms around her and shield her body with my own. Quietly growling at the men to silently warn them not to get any closer.
