-Chapter Two Hundred and Thirty-Four-
"Yeah, we'll see" Zoro grinned.
"You cocky little scoundrel! Alright, men, let's—" the man was cut off by the sudden appearance of a King Bull which caused the entire ground to shake.
"Grab on! Here!" Paulie shouted as he threw ropes down towards us which we all quickly grabbed hold of one, clinging tightly onto them as we were dragged up towards the top of the Yagara's back. I sighed the minute I plopped down into one of the seats beside Zoro as he gently took my hand and started to gently rub the back of it with his thumb.
"Thanks, but you could have let us have some fun first though" Sanji said.
"You idiot!" Paulie snapped. "Don't forget the reason you came here—save your energy for the real fight!" he scowled.
"You're right, we'd be here all day with that many guys" Sanji mumbled as he peered down at the ground and at the multitude of men we passed by. My mind seemed to just wander as I looked all around us—looked at the mess that was this island which had been caused by all the fighting. It was amusing to see the ruckus we've all kicked up with just our appearance.
"Uh-oh! They're going to jump up on the Bull!" Chopper cried out, snapping me out of my daze as I peered over the edge and down at the Watch Dogs that were chasing after us and making attempts to jump onto the giant Yagara.
"What?" Nami owlishly blinked.
"Huh? They're persistent" I said with the tilt of my head.
"Can we go any faster?!" Chopper frantically asked.
"Bad dogs!" Nami snapped.
"Nami, calling them bad dogs isn't going to work—I doubt they've ever been called good boys before" I said, having my doubts that the men ever took the time to baby and spoil the dogs they rode. Couldn't do that if you wanted to train them to be used for fights.
"Hey, cook" Paulie said.
"What's up?" Sanji asked.
"You take the reins—here" Paulie said as he handed the reins over to the cook.
"Wait! What's going on here?" Sanji asked just as the three shipwrights made their way to the very back of the Yagara.
"When you see them, I want you to pass on a message for me" Paulie said, just barely looking back at us. "You're all fired."
"You got it" Zoro grinned.
"No problem" I chirped with a salute.
"Not so fast!" Paulie growled as he and the other two shipwrights jumped off the Yagara and proceeded to hold back the men that had been chasing us.
"Good luck, Galley-La! We're leaving this to you!" Zambai called back to the men as he and the other members of the Franky Family followed closely behind us on the other King Bull.
"That was so cool!" Chopper awed as he watched the fight going on below.
-Later-
"Way to go Sodom! Gomorrah! Keep charging forward!" Zambai cheered as we continued to charge through the island.
"Sodom? Gomorrah? Such interesting names" I mumbled as I looked at the two large Yagaras.
"Fire! Don't let up!" Zambai ordered as he and the Franky Family fired at the Marines around us in an attempt to keep them back. I found myself a bit indifferent to the madness happening all around us, only blinking back in surprise as I witnessed the swordsman beside me deflect one of the oncoming cannonballs. There were days when I wondered if he and a few of the others were even human—not many normal swordfighters could do the things I've seen him do, even I couldn't pull off all the big, fancy-schmancy moves that he could. I guess you could say I fought like a normal person, I fought using my swords how they were meant to be used—for close combat as I hadn't stuck around home long enough to learn the more eccentric ways one could use a sword in my training.
"Now I got you, pirate lady!" a Marine shouted as he suddenly jumped onto the Yagara's back and grabbed hold of Nami who only screamed as she started to repeatedly kick at the man in an attempt to get him off, my attention was soon directed over towards Chopper who was currently biting the head of another Marine that had also climbed aboard.
"Get out of here!" Nami growled as she hit the Marine that had grabbed her off the Yagara with her Clima Takt.
"Beat it!" Chopper huffed while throwing the other Marine off as well.
"Smooth sailing" Sanji remarked as he noted how easy the Yagaras made it to move through the island. "These two make it easy—keep going 'til we reach our captain, King Bulls" he said as the Marines continued to fire at us while the Franky Family would retaliate with their own attacks.
"Oh, really?" Chopper questioned as he spoke with one of the King Bulls.
"What are you two talking about over there, Chopper?" I curiously asked while reflecting the normal bullets that were shot at us with my sword.
"Stupid bastards!" Sanji growled as he kicked one of the doors of the seating area we were on towards the men that shot at us.
"Oh! Oh, I see!" Chopper nodded his head as he listened to what the Yagara had to say. "Understood" he hummed before turning all his attention towards us. "So then, when Sodom and his brother Gomorrah were about to die in the belly of a Sea King, the Franky Family showed up—they were rescued and told these faithful words that he still remembers. "Look, we're already full, so we're not going to eat you," and from that day forward, the two brothers swore their undying loyalty to their saver, Franky!"
"Wow, what a touching story" I sarcastically said.
"So, let me get this straight—the Franky Family brought down a Sea King, ate it, and they just happened to be saved because Franky was already full" Sanji sweat dropped.
"I mean, in a way, it's somewhat of a sweet story" I said. "But, at the same time, it really isn't" I added.
"Pretty much" Chopper nodded.
"Fine, whatever" Sanji said with the dismissive wave of his hand. "You mind watching where you're going, you're making me nervous" he said when he saw that the Yagara wasn't staring forward.
"I will follow Big Bro Franky until the day I die! He says" Chopper translated for the large Yagara
"I bet he's really happy that at least one of us can understand what he's saying" Sanji smiled.
"He said: By the way, the masked guy that was with you never made it on board my back—is that okay?" Chopper translated.
"Oh, so that's what was missing? I thought we were short one person" I owlishly blinked.
"If you thought that then why didn't you say anything?!" Nami snapped as I only shrugged.
"Ah! He's talking about Sniper King!" Chopper cried out. "Where is he?!" he frantically asked.
"Why now?! Why now?!" Nami cried.
"Idiot! Did he fall off?!" Zoro growled.
"Didn't you hear?! He hasn't been here from the start!" Chopper wailed.
"You know, we should have known that he wasn't here from the lack of complaining" I said.
"Don't tell me, did he run away again?" Sanji groaned.
"What are we going to do?!" Chopper cried.
"It's too late now, even if we wanted to, it's not like we can go back and pick him up" Zoro said. "I'm sure he'll figure out something or another" he assured us.
"There's no need to worry, Chopper" I said as I bent down and rested a gentle hand on top of the reindeer's head. "I mean, he is Sniper King, after all—he's a big, brave superhero who can handle himself perfectly fine" I softly smiled.
"You're right!" Chopper firmly nodded as he was quick to wipe away his tears.
"The whole island is swarming with Marines, he's not Luffy after all, he can't fight them all on his own!" Nami suddenly shouted which caused a look of worry to wash over the reindeer once more as my head drooped upon seeing how quickly she had undone my efforts of calming the doctor.
"Even if we don't realize it at first, we've gotten stronger with every challenge we've faced" Zoro responded. "You might not think he's tough, but he's survived as well as anyone else—no one from our crew would die at a time like this" he assured her.
"From our crew, huh?" Chopper tilted his head in confusion. "What are you talking about, Zoro? Sniper King may be here to help, but he doesn't replace Usopp!" he scowled. "You don't know if he's going to be okay or not!" he cried out.
"He'll be fine, it's as Skylar said, he's a superhero after all" Sanji grinned.
"You're right" Chopper nodded. "Sniper King would never let evil triumph over good, he can't lose!" he huffed.
"Look! We're almost to the courthouse!" Zoro pointed out before flinching as a cannonball suddenly stuck the King Bull we were riding on.
"We've been hit! No!" Sanji grounded out through clenched teeth.
"Sodom!" Zambai cried
"No! This is bad—he needs my help!" Chopper worriedly exclaimed.
"Clench those teeth and hold on, Sodom! You can't fall yet!" Zambai shouted. "Guys, you're going to have to jump—get off him! Quick!" he ordered as they pulled up beside us with Gomorrah. "Sodom can't go on! That ball hit him square in the chest, he's about to go down—you got to keep moving no matter what! You're the only ones that can do this!" he exclaimed as he motioned for us to hurry.
"He says go!" Chopper sobbed as we all quickly moved from Sodom's back to Gomorrah's with Chopper and Nami heavily crying as we all stood there in a tense silence—watching as the King Bull finally dropped to the ground.
"Come on" Zoro mumbled, comfortably rubbing my side as he pressed a small kiss to my forehead the minute he saw the sadden expression I wore as I looked down at the fallen Yagara.
"That's not right, he's just an innocent animal—they didn't have to hurt him like that" I frowned.
"Let's go, Gomorrah!" Zambai ordered. "Oh no! Gomorrah, dodge!" he cried out the moment he noticed a few Marines preparing to take aim at us. "Damn bastards had an ambush waiting for us—taking the main road sure was a bad idea..." he irritably grumbled. "Turn around, quick!"
"Sorry, Sodom!" Chopper cried out to the fallen King Bull.
"Chopper—" Nami was cut off by the sound of the Transponder Snail going off. "Who could be calling? Yes, hello?" she answered.
"Howdy! Howdy!" came Kokoro's cheerful voice on the other end.
"Granny Kokoro? What's going on?" Zambai asked.
"Alright, sounds like you're still alive!" Kokoro laughed. "So, where are you?" she asked.
"We're almost to the courthouse, but we're under attack! Why do you ask?" Nami questioned.
"Oh! Perfect timing, there's a little something I forgot to tell you" Kokoro admitted.
"Forgot to tell us? What's that?" I asked.
"That doesn't sound reassuring" Nami grumbled.
"Well, I'm sure you're busy, so I'll make it quick" Kokoro said. "Listen carefully, if you remember that map Paulie drew, you might notice that there's no path from the courthouse to the Gates of Justice" she reminded us.
"That's been bothering me, I was afraid to ask about it" Sanji admitted.
"Look at the courthouse—you see those towers on either side?" Kokoro asked.
"Yeah, I see them" Nami nodded.
"Alright, now there's a lever on the top of the floor of each one of those towers" Kokoro relayed to us. "If you folks can get in there and pull both of them, a draw bridge will come down from the courthouse to the Gates of Justice" she explained.
"Whoa! But how do you know all that stuff, Granny?" Zambai curiously asked.
"I came here with Tom ages ago to fix that bridge! Damn, stupid, ungrateful, government!" Kokoro snapped.
"I like her" I grinned the longer I listened to her bravely curse out the government.
"Don't take it out on me" Zambai nervously said as he held his hands up in defense despite the old woman not really being able to see him.
"Chimney wants to talk too" Kokoro suddenly said.
"Pirate lady! Hey, can you hear me?" Chimney suddenly asked. "Hello?" she questioned when she did receive an immediate response.
"Yeah, I hear you loud and clear" Nami nodded.
"Guess what! I just saw your rubber pirate buddy, he was over on the rooftop of the courthouse just now!" Chimney told us.
