-Chapter Two Hundred and Forty-Seven-
"You finally beat him, way to go!" Franky grinned.
"Luffy!" Nami cheered.
"I'm so glad to see you're alive!" I called down to the rubber man, relieved to know that he was still alive and breathing, I could only imagine how harrowing of a fight it was against Lucci.
"Everybody head to the escape ship! We're getting out of here!" Nami ordered as she now motioned for us all to make a run for it back to the ship seeing how there was no reason for us to stick around any longer.
"Way to go, Straw Hat!" we all perked up to the sudden sound of Zambai's voice followed by the sound of cheering as the intercoms crackled to life once more.
"Morons! Keep it down, everyone can hear us!" Paulie snapped.
"Who cares?! We want them to know!" Zambai exclaimed. "Alright, Big Bro!" he cheered.
"Stop it! They still think we're dead, remember?!" Paulie snapped. "You're going to blow it!" I could practically hear the anger in his voice as he attempted to shush the Franky Family.
"It's them!" Franky shouted in relief upon hearing the voice of his men.
"They made it" Zoro remarked.
"What a relief" I smiled, pleased to know that they hadn't actually been killed.
"Geez, I told you to keep it quiet" Paulie irritably grumbled.
"We're all okay, everybody made it!" Zambai assured us all.
"That was close—the giants, they took all the cannon fire for us" Kiwi explained as I could hear Yokozuna in the background.
"Sodom and Gomorrah are okay too!" Mozu added.
"Look, it's not safe here, those battleships will be coming back—we need to get moving, now" Paulie said, urging both us and the Franky Family to get a move on before we found ourselves crowded around by more Marines.
"Right! Listen up, we got our escape plan all figured out, go! Don't worry about us, let's all leave this place alive!" Zambai huffed.
"See you again soon!" Mozu exclaimed.
"Time to head out!" Kiwi cheered as the line went dead when they finally hung up.
"You dummies! I wasn't worried about you at all!" Franky cried. "They made it! They're alive, I'm so happy those idiots are okay!" he practically sobbed in relief, so happy to know that his friends were alright.
"Agreed, good for them" Zoro nodded. "What a relief, huh?" he grinned.
"Yeah, that's for sure" I sighed as a wide smile tugged at my lips. "Good to know we haven't lost anyone just yet."
"But if you die here, it won't matter" Zoro reminded the blue haired man.
"Yeah, you're right" Franky loudly sniffed, tears still streaming down his face. I softly huffed and smiled before turning my attention back towards the Marines that had once again surrounded Nami, Robin, and I.
"Thunderbolt Tempo!" Nami struck the Marines with lightning as Robin and I made quick work of the rest that were lucky enough to avoid being hit.
"Alright" Robin smiled as the last of the men crumbled to the ground.
"Hopefully that's the last of them" I sighed. "Though I doubt it" I grumbled.
"Right, understood, sir! But he's…he doesn't seem to be moving, Straw Hat Luffy is...sir, he's…he appears to be severely wounded" a voice suddenly relayed over the intercom.
"What?" Zoro frowned.
"Is he serious?" I worriedly asked.
"Luffy, what are you doing?! Hurry up and get the hell over here!" Usopp shouted over to the raven-haired man who had yet to move. "If we don't escape we're all going to die! What's wrong with you, dammit?! We're almost there!" he screamed. "Use your powers to slingshot yourself over here—I'll carry you the rest of the way!
"We're surrounded by sea and battleships on all sides! If we stay here, we're going to be killed! Luffy!" he continued to shout at the top of his lungs upon not hearing a response. "Luffy, answer me! Say something!" he practically begged, pleading for the rubber man to answer him and prove that he was actually still conscious.
"I…I can't…my body won't…" Luffy panted, struggling to get the words out.
"What?" Usopp frowned.
"My body…won't move…" the rubber man weakly groaned.
"It won't move?" Usopp questioned. "Come on, don't be stupid! You just beat Lucci, didn't you?! And we already saved Robin, the only thing left to do is run! Try harder, you can do it!" he shouted.
"That fight with Lucci must have taken all of his strength" I said. "He really pushed himself to win" I worriedly frowned as I took out a few men that rushed at me.
"Usopp, let's take the ship to Luffy, we'll grab him and get out of here" Nami suggested as she electrocuted two more men. "Everyone, move! Get on board!" she shouted before a loud explosion suddenly rang out which caused all of us to hesitantly turn our head in the direction it had come from. "No, that's our escape ship!" the navigator cried out in horror when she saw that the ship we had planned to use was destroyed.
"Those bastards! Now it's hopeless, we're completely surrounded!" Franky grounded out as we all stared in shock at the burning ship. "That ship was our only way out of here, what are we going to do?!" he frowned.
"Chopper and them where still on the ship!" I cried out.
"Kokoro! Chimney! Gonbe! Chopper!" Nami cried. "No, what now?!" she asked in distress as we soon heard screaming, all of us now watching in slight awe as Sanji suddenly came running towards us—carrying Kokoro, Chimney, Gonbe, and Chopper in his arms.
"We made it! Out of the way!" the blond sneered at some Marines as he ran by, pushing his way through the crowd.
"Thank goodness" Nami sighed with relief as the blond came running up towards her. "Sanji, what the heck happened? And where have you been?" she asked, noting how he did sort of disappear at some point during all the fighting.
"Sorry, there was something I had to take care of" Sanji answered, panting a little as if he was short of breath after running all this way while carrying two people and two animals. "Damn, this is bad, we're pretty screwed right now—I never thought they would attack us as long as we still had Robin here, I was sure the bridge and ship would be safe" he cursed, coming to a halt when a Marine suddenly grabbed hold of Nami and pressed the blade of his sword to her neck.
"That's far enough!" the Marine sneered. "Surrender! Release the old lady and the little girl or I'll—"
"There's no time for any of that—Mermaid Kick!" Kokoro interrupted as she pressed her legs together until they looked like a tail before smacking the man away from the ginger haired woman.
"Nice kick!" I whistled before flinching as a cannonball suddenly smashed into the bridge.
"Why does this always happen to us?!" Nami cried.
"Can't be because we're pirates or anything" I sarcastically responded.
"Now's not the time for that attitude of yours!" she snapped.
"Corner them in the second column!" someone ordered over the intercom. "Fire!" he shouted as more cannonballs were fired towards us, striking the bridge.
"That was close, keep moving!" Sanji frowned as he continued to carry Kokoro, Chimney, Gonbe, and Chopper while motioning for us all to follow. Quick was he to also scoop up Nami and start carrying her as well as he took off running with them while Marines continued to fire at us. "Run!" he snapped when he noticed that no one was moving right away. Nodding our heads, we started to run as well—quickly following close behind him as we did so. I yelped at how close one of the cannonballs was the minute it struck the bridge, the force causing us all to lose our balance and go tumbling across the bridge—poor Franky went sliding across the concrete surface on his face as he did—with only Zoro and Sanji seemingly being the only ones to keep their balance. Sitting up, I watched in slight awe as the two men destroyed the chunk of debris that went hurtling towards them.
"Dammit! They took out the bridge—we're stuck on this column, these bastards have got us cornered!" the blond growled in annoyance.
"There's nothing else we can do, we're surrounded" Zoro frowned.
"We can either be sitting ducks or put up a fight" I said.
"She's right, this is where we'll make our stand! Let's fight!" Nami nodded.
"Don't be stupid, they'll just keep sending more and more of those captains at us" Franky scoffed.
"All ships, prepare to open fire on the first column!" the voice over the intercom ordered.
"Luffy!" Usopp screamed as the battleships started to take aim at our captain.
"Luffy's in trouble, we got to do something" Zoro said as he blocked the Marines that charged at him.
"Crap…this is bad!" Luffy frowned.
"Luffy!" Usopp shouted.
"No good, at this distance, all I can do is grab him and throw him into the sea" Robin frowned as we all fought back against the Marines that were advancing towards us—trying their best to corner us as we all tried our best to push them back and away.
"Stand up, Straw Hat!" we heard the Franky Family shout.
"Come on, stand up!" Kokoro called out to the rubber man.
"Pirate guy, run!" Chimney worriedly exclaimed.
"You can do it, Luffy!" I shouted.
"Luffy, hurry! Move it!" Nami urged.
"Dammit! You got to do something right now, Luffy!" Sanji frowned.
"Luffy!" Nami cried out.
"Straw Hat!" Franky shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Come on, you can do it!" the Franky Family cheered.
"Straw Hat!" Paulie called out to the raven-haired man.
"No…I'm in trouble!" Luffy grounded out as he continued to practically struggle in his attempts to move.
"Luffy!" Nami cried out once again to the rubber man as she took out two Marines.
"Get moving! They're going to kill you!" Sanji snapped as he kicked away an advancing Marine.
"Straw Hat!" Kiwi and Mozu worriedly exclaimed.
"Get on your feet! Get out of there, now!" Paulie ordered.
"Hurry!" I screamed as I took down a few Marines.
"Do something!" the Franky Family cried.
"What?" Usopp suddenly asked as he covered his ears as if attempting to listen closely for something, too distracted to take note of the Marine charging at him.
"Hey, are you trying to kill yourself?!" Franky snapped as he took out the Marine that was charging the sharpshooter. "Stop spacing out, now's not the time!" he scowled.
"Whose voice is this anyway?" Usopp asked. "That's right, it's the same voice I've heard before—what's going on here?" he frowned.
"What? Those voices? It's my guys" Franky answered, not understanding what the sharpshooter was going on about.
"No, that's not what I'm talking about here, I've heard it for a while" Usopp admitted.
"Huh?" Franky questioned in confusion.
"It's coming from…over here!" Usopp exclaimed as he quickly leaned his body over the edge to peer down at the water. "Below?" he mumbled as my ears twitched.
"Hm? What's that noise?" I hummed, perking up as I now began to look around. "Sounds like...sounds like a voice..." I muttered, continuing to look around for the source of the voice.
"What the hell? That voice..." Sanji mumbled, now hearing it as well.
"It says, look below" Chopper repeated what we all were suddenly hearing.
"Who does? What are you talking about?" Chimney curiously asked.
"All ships open fire on the first column and Straw Hat Luffy!" the person over the intercom ordered. "Commencing in five…"
"No, Luffy!" Nami gave a startled gasp upon hearing the command.
"Jump into the sea!" Usopp suddenly cried out.
"Four…" the man continued to count down.
"The sea!" Usopp cried once more, urging us to listen.
"Usopp?" Zoro questioned.
"Robin, can you throw Luffy into the sea?" the long-nosed pirate asked.
"Leave it to me" Robin nodded.
"Are you trying to kill us?!" Zoro frowned.
"He'll drown if he gets thrown into the sea!" I snapped.
"She's right, jumping into the sea won't help a damn thing!" the swordsman nodded.
"Three…" the man counted.
"We're going to be safe, she came to rescue us! Jump! It'll be okay, we still got one more friend here!" Usopp sobbed as he grabbed the swordsman's shoulder.
"One more friend? You don't mean…" my eyes widened as I trailed off upon watching the long-nosed pirate vigorously nod his head, he was nothing more than a crying mess at this point.
"Two…" the man continued, getting dangerously close to reaching the last number.
"Chopper, did you see?" Nami asked the moment she looked down and caught sight of a familiar ship.
"Yes!" the reindeer choked out, tears streaming down his face as well.
"One!" just as the man had reached the final number, Robin sprouted multiple arms around Luffy and started to roll him towards the ocean.
"I'm moving? Is Robin doing this?" the rubber man asked as he was rolled off of the column and down towards the sea below.
"To the sea!" Sanji shouted.
"To the sea!" Nami and I cheered.
"To the sea!" Chopper sobbed.
"Jump! Follow Luffy!" Usopp cried out as we all dived off the bridge without any hesitation.
