-Chapter Two Hundred and Forty-Eight-

"Go!" we cheered.

"To the sea!" Robin, Kokoro, and Chimney cheered as well as I felt laughter bubble up in my throat and tears well up in my eyes while we fell towards the Going Merry which rested below in the water—patiently waiting for us.

"Fire!" the man over the intercom shouted as the ships finally fired at the now empty column.

"Even all banged up, she still looks as beautiful as ever" I breathed out as I looked at the ship.

"Everyone, get on board the Merry!" Usopp cried.

"Let's go back, everyone, back to the seas of adventure" a soft delicate voice spoke, one that was sweet and nothing more than a mere whisper that it was almost hard to hear.

"Merry!" Luffy brightly smiled upon seeing the ship before we all crashed into the water. I was quick to burst through the surface and swim my way towards the rope ladder, climbing on board as I coughed and sputtered up any water that I might have accidentally swallowed when I crashed into the water. I soon looked up and chuckled upon seeing Zoro's face as he carried both Chimney and Gonbe on his shoulders.

"What's going on, Sanji? Something wrong?" Nami curiously asked once she saw the confused look on the blonde's face as he looked all around the empty deck of the ship.

"Not wrong, just strange" Sanji lightly frowned. "The rope ladder got dropped down, but it doesn't look like anyone's here" he noted.

"What?" Nami asked with the tilt of her head.

"That does sound strange, but I think the real question is, how did the Merry get here in the first place?" I asked, watching as the two exchanged glances—neither one of them really having an answer to my question as they both simply shrugged their shoulders and almost became lost in thought themselves as they pondered over how the Merry had gotten here.

"Merry!" Usopp gasped the minute he was thrown on board with Franky quick to jump on board himself.

"Seriously, can't you swim on your own, brother?" the blue haired man grumbled.

"Alrighty, up you go, hope you enjoyed the ride" Kokoro said as she threw Luffy, Robin, and Chopper up towards the ship.

"Robin, yoo-hoo!" Sanji cooed as he waved his arms around, visible eye already in the shape of a heart. "Leap into my arms, darling!" he exclaimed, only to be disappointed as Franky had been the one to catch the raven-haired woman instead. I quickly moved to catch Chopper before he could hit the deck, gently placing him down as Luffy seemed to be the only one that had a rough landing.

"We're on the Merry? We're back on the Merry! I love you, Merry!" Chopper cried as he flopped around. "I love you so much, thank you!" he sobbed.

"I'm sure she loves you just as much back" I softly smiled while gently patting the deck.

"Merry! My sweet Merry is still alive!" Usopp sobbed as he hugged the ship's mast. "I don't understand, how did she make it here?! I don't know!" he hiccuped as he continued to tightly cling to the mast, not understanding or caring how the ship had made her way here.

"I wish…I wish I could give you a hug, Merry!" Chopper cried. "But, I can't move!" he sniffed.

"This doesn't make sense, I saw the ship drop into the ocean myself" Franky frowned as he looked around the ship in disbelief, looking as if he was having a hard time believing what he was seeing.

"She's a tough one" was all I could say, smiling as I gently patted Chopper's back as he continued to heavily cry.

"The question is, who sailed it here?" Nami asked.

"We'll figure it out later, just get us out of here" Zoro said.

"Right!" Nami nodded. "Let me think" she said as she began to think over the best route we could take to safely leave this place.

"Everyone ready?" Zoro asked.

"Sanji, get up! What are you doing?" Nami frowned as everyone was now rushing around to prepare the ship to set sail while the blond continued to lay there, sulking on the floor about how he wasn't the one to catch Robin.

"I'll do whatever you want me to do, Nami sweet!" Sanji was quick to recover from his depressive state as he shot straight up.

"Well, he recovered fast" I sweat dropped.

"That was a close one, I thought those battleships were going to blow me up for sure" Luffy said, sprawled out on the deck. "Hey, Robin, you saved me—thanks a—" he was cut off by a disembodied hand covering his mouth.

"Luffy, everyone, thank you" Robin softly smiled.

"Sure" Usopp gave her a thumb's up.

"Don't worry about it" Luffy told her.

"That's what friends are for" I brightly smiled.

"That's nice, but save the sappy stuff for after we escape, okay" Zoro said which caused Sanji to start kicking at him while Chopper harshly bit his leg.

"You take that back, you heartless bastard!" the blond snapped.

"Yeah, you bastard!" Chopper echoed which caused me to laugh.

"If we sit around, we're just going to end up dead, stupid!" Zoro snapped at the two as he tried to get them to stop attacking him.

"I don't care! Apologize to Robin!" Sanji demanded.

"Yeah!" Chopper nodded.

"That's enough, both of you stop!" Zoro snapped, before slowly blinking as he looked down at the reindeer that was still biting his leg. "Hey, wait—Chopper, you're moving again" he noted.

"Huh? Now that you mention it, I guess I am moving—I was afraid that I'd never get better!" Chopper brightened as tears pricked at the corners of his eyes. "Now, apologize to Robin already!" he suddenly shouted, growing big and now sitting on Zoro's back as he pulled the swordsman's legs at an angle that caused them to make a painful popping sound.

"Give up yet?" Sanji teasingly asked.

"No, never!" Zoro grunted.

"Chopper, don't hurt my Chia Pet too much, okay?" I softly smiled at the three.

"Okay, Skylar" Chopper nodded before he continued to pull on the man's legs.

"What?! Not going to help me out?!" Zoro snapped, causing Robin to laugh a little in amusement.

"Okay, let's go! You guys ready?" Nami asked.

"Yeah!" we nodded.

"All ships prepare to fire! I repeat, prepare to fire!" a voice ordered over the intercom.

"Can't you load those cannonballs any faster? Do you want them to escape?!" Spandam angrily snapped over the intercom at his men, demanding them to move quicker.

"Spandam's still alive, huh?" Franky frowned. "That sucks" he grumbled, annoyed to know that that idiot was still alive and kicking.

"They're going to fire!" Usopp shouted when he saw that the Navy ships around us were already starting to take aim.

"Catch the wind from starboard and head east!" Nami ordered.

"We can't, we're completely surrounded" Zoro said.

"All those big scary cannons and they're aimed straight at us" Usopp whimpered.

"We're nothing but sitting ducks" I sighed as I crossed my arms.

"At this rate, with that many ships, there's no way they're going to miss" Franky frowned.

"Fire!" one of the men shouted which caused Usopp to scream as he ducked down and covered his head just as all the ships took aim and fired. But instead of hitting us, the cannonballs seemed to miss completely and it wasn't soon after when one of the battleships suddenly exploded.

"Wait, are they firing at each other?" Usopp owlishly blinked as he slowly stood back up. "Their aim can't be that bad!" he gaped.

"What was that?! Where the hell were you aiming?!" the voice over the intercom snapped as two battleships suddenly rammed into one another. I let my eyes wander from the mess that was the Marines and over towards the Gates of Justice, watching as they slowly started to close which caused whirlpools to now appear in the water.

"That turned out better than I thought" Sanji smiled as we continued to watch the ships around us crash into one another.

"Sanji, is that what you did while you were gone?" Usopp curiously inquired.

"I figured it'd take more than just guts to get out of here alive" Sanji grinned as he tapped a finger against his temple.

"You're like my hero, Sanji!" Usopp gaped.

"Are you a genius or what?!" Luffy asked.

"It's a little early to be kissing his ass, these whirlpools are a problem for us too!" Zoro snapped.

"Oh, great! Thanks a lot, Sanji!" Usopp huffed as his feelings towards the blond did a complete one-eighty.

"Will you shut up! It's not a problem" Nami assured us. "As long as we're together, there's no sea that the Going Merry can't cross, right?" she grinned.

"You're so cool, Nami!" Sanji cooed, hearts now flying all around him.

"That's right! Go for it, navigator!" Usopp smiled.

"Lead the way, madame!" I grinned.

"Just hold them off while I find a path for us" Nami told us.

"No problem!" we nodded as the Marines continued to fire—all of them still missing as if they were still having trouble in trying to fix whatever problem Sanji had caused for them.

"One Sword Style: Thirty-Six Caliber Phoenix!" Zoro slashed down the cannonballs that shot towards us. "Since I lost a sword, I can't do a full One Hundred and Eight Phoenix" he explained the minute he spotted my confused expression as to why he was only using one of his swords instead of all three like usual.

"Why don't you go cry about it?" Sanji asked.

"I'm going to make you cry!" Zoro snapped.

"Don't even start, you two!" I snapped at them both.

"Hey, guys, here they come again!" Usopp frantically shouted as Sanji jumped up and kicked one of the cannonballs back at the Marines. Everyone that could do something to stop the attacks did—Robin made walls of limbs to stop the cannonballs and Franky was just easily catching them and flinging them back the way they had come from.

"We don't want them, take them back!" he snapped as he caught some more and threw them back in the direction they had come from.

"It's my turn!" Usopp shouted, puffing out his chest. "Triple Flame Star!" he shot at the cannonballs that came barreling towards us which set them off midair. This seemed to go on for quite a while and it wasn't long before it was starting to becoming old and tedious.

"Coming your way, Usopp" Zoro said.

"I got it! Oh, wait, I missed one—Sanji! Help!" the long-nosed pirate pleaded as I raised an eyebrow upon suddenly catching sight of our captain crawling up the stairs by using his teeth.

"Luffy, what are you doing?" I asked, walking over to him and placing my hands on my hips as I stared down at him. "Shouldn't you be resting, mister" I scolded, watching as he avoided eye contact and lowly grumbled to himself.

"Huh?" Sanji questioned as he kicked the cannonball that Usopp missed back towards the battleships.

"Aw! Guys, save some for me—I want to fight them too!" Luffy pouted, nervously sweating as he continued to avoid looking me in the eyes while I stared him down.

"Oh really? Are you going to squirm them to death?" Usopp scoffed.

"Yeah, you can barely move as it is, how are you going to be of any help?" I asked, watching as he attempted to crawl around me before whining when I suddenly placed my foot down on his back and held him in place. "You're injured, you need to rest" I said.

"Hate to break it to you, captain, but I think this one is our battle" Sanji said.

"Take a nap, we'll be done soon" Zoro said.

"You go take a nap! I'm going to beat these guys, you'll see! I just got to get there!" Luffy huffed as I watched in amusement how he squirmed his way out from underneath my foot and began using his chin to drag his body across the floor once he was free.

"Luffy, Zoro's right, go rest" I softly sighed. "You're too badly injured—for goodness sakes, you're having to use your own chin to move around" I pointed out.

"I can do this!" the rubber man pouted.

"Dammit, Luffy! Get out of the way!" Zoro snapped as he was already starting to grow annoyed with the captain.

"Fire!" the voice over the intercom ordered.

"Shut up, Zoro! You can't tell me what to do!" Luffy snapped right back as Sanji and Zoro now exchanged glances.

"Eh?" I questioned, watching how they both picked up our captain and stretched his body out like it was nothing more than a sheet. Soon, all of the cannonballs that were fired at us were caught by Luffy's stomach like he was a net instead of a living human being.

"You ready?" Sanji asked.

"Let's go!" Zoro grinned as they flung the cannonballs back. "You never let us down, huh, captain?"

"Good work out there, Luffy, you were of great help" I brightly smiled down at the dazed-looking teenager, softly patting the top of his head.

"I guess we needed you after all" Sanji said.

"You people are monsters!" Usopp snapped as we all three looked up at him.

"Uh-huh" we nodded, giving a peace sign to the long-nosed pirate.

"Shoot them!" Spandam snapped over the intercom. "What the hell do you think—how hard can it be?! Just hit their ship!" he angrily screamed.

"Let's go! Full speed ahead!" Luffy ordered once he came to as I curiously watched how Robin sprouted multiple arms all around Spandam's body, bending it back in an unnatural position.

"Clutch" the raven-haired woman bitterly muttered as I winched at the sight of the man's back folding back in such an unnatural way—I could only imagine the immense amount of pain that would cause.

"Well, I guess that settles that" Nami said. "Alright, Franky, it's time to do your thing" she said.

"You got it" Franky nodded as he pushed his sunglasses down. "Get ready, kids, because this is going to get wild" he grinned.

"Blast their ass! Don't let them get out of the whirlpools!" a Marine ordered.

"Just so you know, this might bang up your ship a bit—sorry about that" Franky apologized in advance as he suddenly shot out a huge gust of air from the palm of his hand that rocketed the ship forward and into the air.

"You think the Merry's an ordinary ship, then you're wrong! She flew through the air once and she can do it again, no problem! Special Attack: Super Smoke Star!" Usopp loudly proclaimed as he shot a smoke bomb back down at the battleships. Giving us an advantage as we landed back in the water and sailed away from the battleships that fired with no real sense of direction in where we were or who they were exactly firing at. Usopp boisterously laughed which brought a smile to my face as I listened to the way our captain joined in and started laughing as well.

"Looks like we did" I smiled, wrapping my arms around Zoro as I happily looked up at him.

"Seems so" he hummed before leaning down and connecting our lips in a sweet kiss.

-Later-

"You sure you want to sit up on top of that sheep's head?" Kokoro asked as we sailed our way back towards Water Seven.

"Of course, I do! That's the captain's seat!" Luffy smiled as Kokoro laid him down in his favorite spot.

"There you go, careful not to fall" she warned.
