-Chapter Two Hundred and Sixty-
"What are you talking about?" Nami and Usopp asked.
"We just need to get out of here, right? Doesn't matter how" Franky said.
"Oh yeah" the two nodded before an iceberg suddenly crashed into the side of the ship as four people now came skating towards us.
"Looks like we finally found you!" a man with hockey gear grinned.
"Going somewhere? Don't you know when a ship is lost on the Frozen Highway—it's destined to wander for all eternity!" a purple haired woman proclaimed. "Just give it up already!" she laughed as she tightly hugged the blond-headed man that skated beside her.
"Couldn't have said it better myself!" the blond agreed as the two looked at each other with love-struck gazes.
"Skylar, they're looking at each other like you and Zoro look at one another" Nami whispered which caused my cheeks to flare up.
"Not now!' I snapped. "Besides, that's more of the same look Zoro gives when he sees alcohol" I corrected which caused her to snort.
"Indeed!" the woman exclaimed over and over, agreeing with the blond as the two of them spun around in circles with one another. "You'll never get away from us!" she proclaimed before the two shared a loving kiss.
"That's rather tasteless" Robin said as I gave a blank stare towards the couple while Usopp's jaw fell open.
"Can't believe such a beautiful woman is with that mongrel!" Sanji dejectedly whined. "Hey, you! I challenge you to a duel for her honor!" he snapped before being hit on top of the head by Nami.
"Unfortunately, we can't stick around for games—right, Franky?" the ginger asked as the cyborg hummed in agreement. "Excuse us, but I'm afraid we'll be leaving now" she said.
"Have you gone deaf? I already told you, escaping from the Frozen Highway is impossible—understand?! Impossible!" the woman huffed.
"Right, couldn't have said it better!" the blond beside her nodded before the two looked at one another with love-struck gazes once again.
"Indeed!" the woman happily exclaimed as the couple did the same thing they did before—both of them spinning around together. "You'll never get away from us!" she proclaimed as they shared another kiss.
"Whenever you're ready, Franky" Nami said.
"Usopp, close your mouth—there's no need to be shocked by their open love" I told the long-nosed pirate when I saw his jaw was still open.
"Aye, aye! Leave it to me!" Franky grinned as I grabbed hold of the ship's railing in advance just as the ship rocketed forward.
"What a strange fish" Robin quietly remarked the minute she spotted a fish flying towards us right as the ship landed back in the water which created a huge splash.
"I can finally relax, I can sure get used to this" Usopp sighed. "Blue sky, white clouds, and a big beautiful sun shimmering behind the pirate fla—what the hell?!" he cried out as we all finally took notice of the fact that our flag was now missing.
"Our flag, it's gone!" Nami gasped.
"Come to think of it, Zoro's gone too" Usopp noted.
"Eh? You're right!" I exclaimed after looking around and finding that the swordsman was indeed nowhere to be found on the deck of the ship.
"Our Jolly Roger..." Nami muttered.
"It just disappeared!" Sanji frowned.
"How long has it been gone?" Franky asked.
"Where did it go?! It's gone! Gone! Gone!" Usopp cried as he frantically ran around the deck in a panic.
"When was the last time any of us saw it? It couldn't have been missing for too long" I said.
"What's wrong, Robin?" Franky asked when the woman suddenly gasped and rushed over to the ship's railing.
"That's absurd" Robin muttered.
"Huh? Is there something over there I'm not seeing?" Usopp frowned as he looked through a pair of binoculars. "There it is! I see the flag!" he shouted.
"Where is it?" Franky asked.
"It looks like some weird bird-fish thing got a hold of it" Usopp answered.
"I thought so" Robin said. "Those same people we've been dealing with are the ones who stole it—I saw the little one commanding that bird-fish before we got out of there" she admitted, referring to the little girl that had been when the people that we had encountered back on the iceberg.
"It's taking the flag right back to the iceberg!" Usopp shouted as his eyes popped right out of the binoculars in surprise.
"Dammit!" Sanji cursed as he quickly rushed towards the steering wheel.
"Hey, Sanji!" Nami called out to the blond.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing?!" Franky frowned the minute he saw that the man was starting to turn the ship around.
"Is it that tough to figure out? I'm getting our flag back!" Sanji huffed.
"I'm not in the mood for jokes! We barely made it out of that place!" Franky snapped.
"Calm down and think, Sanji" Nami said. "We don't even know where Luffy and Chopper are" she reminded him.
"Same with Zoro" I said. "We can't afford to do anything rash when our crew is split up like this" I pointed out.
"Right, the best thing to do right now is stay put until we can regroup" Nami agreed.
"I'm sorry, but we can't afford to sit still" Sanji said. "A pirate flag is more important than a pirate's life and there is no greater shame then allowing it to be stolen" he frowned.
"I get that, but don't you think we should find our captain before we—"
"You're not listening to me, dammit!" Sanji snapped, cutting Usopp off before he could say anything else. "Think, you guys, do you want to be the one to tell the captain we lost the flag?" he asked.
"No! Keep steering!" Nami begged.
"There's no way I'm telling him!" Usopp cried out.
"I absolutely refuse to be scolded by that idiot!" the two snapped as they burst out into a fiery rage.
"Of course, that's the reason" I sweat dropped.
"That's the reason? Really?" Franky frowned as Robin laughed.
"Alright, let's do this!" Sanji huffed as the icebergs around us started to move and block our path once more. "Again?! Seriously?!" he growled.
"What is up with this ice?" Usopp questioned. "Why won't it stop moving?" he frowned.
"It doesn't look like we're going anywhere until we figure out what's making these icebergs act this way" Nami said. "Franky, you feel up to doing a little reconnaissance work with me?" she asked.
"Soldier Dock System: Channel Three" Sanji spun the wheel until it landed on the number three and pulled the lever which allowed Nami and Franky to use the Shark Submarine.
"Sanji, am I coming through?" Nami asked over the Transponder Snail once her and Franky were in the water.
"Yeah, I can hear you loud and clear, Nami" Sanji nodded. "So, you guys seeing anything down there?" he asked.
"Um...I doubt we'll find anything until we descend further" Nami answered. "What's that?" she suddenly asked after a moment of silence.
"What's going on, Nami?" Sanji asked.
"Hey, are you two alright down there? Why are you screaming?" I inquired the minute Franky and Nami's screams fluttered in through the Transponder Snail. "Hm, wonder what they saw?" I frowned when the line suddenly went dead.
"Hey, what's happening?! Answer me!" Sanji frantically demanded as we all quickly rushed back out onto the deck. "Damn! Nami, come back!" he shouted as we all peered down at the ocean and it wasn't until Usopp's scream did we become aware of the huge iceberg that was coming straight towards us. Harsh waves knocked the ship up into the air—knocking us all overboard in the process. Robin was quick to react, using her Devil Fruit powers to grab hold of the railing as she then stretched her arm out towards us. I was the first to grab hold of the hand she offered before reaching my own arm out towards Usopp, only for our fingertips to just barely brush against one another before he was out of my reach completely.
"No!" I gasped as he and Sanji went falling.
"He's too far" Robin frowned just as the ship roughly crashed back into the water. "Are you alright?" she asked once we climbed back on board.
"Yeah, but…" I sighed as I let my shoulders droop downwards, only perking up when I suddenly heard the sound of giggling.
"Will you play with me?" the little girl from the group of people from before asked, now seated on the railing of the ship as she seemed to have just come out of nowhere. "It'll be fun" she smiled.
"Who are you exactly?" Robin hesitantly asked.
"My name is Lil—so, you want to play with me, right?" Lil asked. "Your ship is really cute; does it have a name?" she curiously asked.
"Of course, it's the Thousand Sunny" Robin nodded.
"Thousand Sunny? And you two, what are your names?" Lil asked.
"Oh, my name? My name's Robin—Nico Robin" Robin greeted.
"Uh...Skylar Strife, nice to meet you" I raised a hand in greeting, feeling a bit thrown off with how casual of a conversation this was.
"Robin and Skylar, huh?" Lil questioned.
"Yes" Robin and I nodded.
"I saw you earlier, didn't I?" Robin asked.
"You noticed me?" Lil tilted her head.
"Of course, I did—you surprised me with the way you appeared all of a sudden out of nowhere" Robin admitted which caused the little girl to laugh. "So, Lil," she bent down until she was the same height as the child, "do you happen to know any of the ship's crew?" she asked.
"Thousand Sunny's crew?" Lil hummed. "I don't think so" she said with the shake of her head.
"I see, then perhaps you—"
"But, I do know where the crew's flag is being hidden" Lil interrupted Robin. "You're looking for it, right?" she asked.
"That's right" I nodded.
"So, where is it?" Robin asked. "Won't you tell us, please" she softly smiled, hoping that by being gentle and patient with the young girl that the child would be more willing to help us
"Maybe, if you two…" Lil trailed off.
"If we?" Robin questioned as she motioned the girl to continue.
"If you two play with me—play a game with me, and then I'll tell you" Lil said.
"Is that all?" I smile, softly laughing at how cute and innocent of a request that was.
"Alright, we'll play" Robin nodded.
"Really? Awesome!" Lil brightened as she started to excitedly jump in place. I couldn't help the way my smile widened upon seeing her excitement—it was adorable. "You see, my big sister won't play with me lately, she's busy playing with Salchow. So she ignores me to be with that jerk" the little girl explained with an irritated huff. 'She must be talking about those two lovebirds from earlier' I thought.
"So, which hand do you think the coin is in?" Robin asked as I held out my two fists while the raven-haired woman sprouted more arms from the ground.
"You know, when I think play, I think something more along the lines of Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp's way of playing" I mumbled, arms shaking from being held up for so long as the little girl took her time in trying to decide which hand the coin was held in.
"Give me a second" Lil hummed as she eyed each of the fists before pointing at one of Robin's hands. "It's this one?" she asked.
"Nope, that's wrong" I chuckled, watching as the fist opened to reveal an eye instead of a coin which caused the little girl to pout.
"So, Lil" Robin said, attempting to strike up small talk with the child.
"What?" Lil asked as she closed her eyes and crossed her arms.
"Where do you think they could be hiding the flag?" Robin curiously asked.
"I don't know" Lil shrugged as she turned her back towards us.
"Or you just don't want to tell us" Robin pointed out.
"I don't know" Lil stubbornly repeated.
"Very stubborn, ain't she?" I chuckled as Robin used her Devil Fruit powers to now tickle the young girl.
"Okay! Stop, I'll tell you where it is!" Lil laughed.
"Really?" Robin and I smiled, pleased to know that the simple trick of tickling her was enough to get her to come around.
"Yes! Really! Really!" Lil laughed as she now took in huge gulps of air the minute Robin stopped tickling her. "They keep the flags in Papa's room" she told us.
"Papa?" Robin questioned.
"You mean your father?" I asked. I wasn't really used to hearing people refer to their fathers in such endearings ways like "papa" or "daddy" and so on.
"Yep, and he's got a pretty big collection of them too—a whole room full of pirate flags!" Lil excitedly exclaimed as she held her arms out as if trying to indicate how big of a room her father had filled with his collection of pirate flags.
"That many, huh?" Robin questioned.
"Today's our Papa's big birthday, that's why everyone's out trying to get him the best present they can" Lil explained.
"So, the flag's his present?" I inquired. "Well, if the man collects pirate flags then I can see why that would be a good present to get him" I said.
"Nope, bad guess, these are the presents" Lil said as she laid out our wanted posters—I flinched upon seeing the missing child's poster attached to mine. "He has a 300,000,000 bounty, this one has a 120,000,000 bounty, there's a 44,000,000 bounty for this guy and then you" she said as she pointed to each wanted poster before stopping on Robin's. "There's an 80,000,000 bounty on your head, isn't there? And you have a 25,000,000 bounty plus the reward money on the missing child's poster brings you up to 500,000,000" she said as Robin rested a gentle hand on my shaking shoulder. Soon the sound of a Transponder Snail sounded out.
"Yeah? What is it?" Lil answered before nodding her head. "Right...yeah...two? Well, that's pretty good...sure…okay….I understand" she sighed as she hung up before making her way over to the railing where she tossed some objects into the sea. "Go, Flying Fish" and with that, multiples of that same bird-fish from before came bursting out of the water and flew away. "Okay, let's get back to the game" she said when she was finished.
"What happened?" Robin and I curiously asked.
