The seamstress eyed her warily, looking between her and Inuyasha. "I don't normally sell such things to humans."
Inuyasha opened his mouth to blast her, but Kagome intervened, stepping between them before violence was the only option. "I can pay you."
"I'm sure you can, but if I sold this to every person who wandered into my stall—"
"We're here on purpose, ya ungrateful wench," Inuyasha snapped, hand tightening around the hilt of Tessaiga. "Now give us what we want or—"
Shippou jumped on Inuyasha's head, shoving him back before one of his statues appeared on his chest, pinning him to the ground. "Would you shut up for once?" Inuyasha's curses were ignored as the kit approached the stall. "I'm the one who needs it, but we weren't sure if you'd sell it to me."
The seamstress' eyes widened as Shippou grabbed Kagome's hand. "You have the strangest family, miko-sama."
Kagome flushed but raised her chin. "I'm proud of all of them. Even if some have more manners than others."
Inuyasha groaned, resigning himself to being a doormat for the rest of their visit. "I was only tryin' to help!"
"In what way?" the other three chorused.
Shippou shook his head, which barely reached the edge of the stall, even with his recent growth spurt. "Please? I'm starting to outgrow my pants, and I don't want to worry her so much."
The seamstress didn't seem convinced, but she relented, and Kagome was glad she'd decided to bring Shippou with her, mouthing a silent 'thank you' when her back was turned. "Are you wanting the same colour?" she asked.
Kagome shook her head, and Shippou grinned. "Let's go for something different. Mama wants to make it from scratch." He pointed to a familiar shade of purple, and Kagome struggled to hide her blush as he added ivory thread to the order.
The boy was far too smart for his own good.
