-Chapter Two Hundred and Sixty-Nine-
"We're counting on you!" someone else shouted.
"Yeah, tear Moriah a new one!"
"What the hell? The other victims, huh?" Sanji questioned. "It's not polite to eavesdrop!" he scowled.
"Whoa! Sorry about that Mr. Freaky Curly Eyebrows Guy!" one of the men quickly apologized.
"That's a crappy way to apologize!" Sanji snapped as I chuckled.
"Is that rain?" Luffy questioned the moment rain started to pour from the sky the further we walked through the forest and made our way towards the mansion.
"Man, that sure came from out of nowhere" Zoro said.
"Makes everything more eerie, don't you think? A gloomy island full of monsters with rain pouring down—sounds like the plot to a horror novel" I hummed.
"It's really coming down too, should we run for the mansion?" Franky asked when he noticed how what started as a light drizzle was now starting to get harsher.
"Hang on a second, I see something really big by the mansion" Luffy said as he came to a sudden halt. "Over there, it looks like some kind of mark" he pointed.
"Mark?" Franky questioned as we all looked in the direction our captain was pointing in.
"The rain's clearing the fog, I see it" Zoro said as he was now able to easily spot whatever it was the captain was pointing at thanks to the rain helping in clearing the fog. "Is that a flag?" he questioned.
"No, I'm pretty sure that's a sail" Franky corrected.
"What?" we all asked.
"But...this is an island, isn't it? What's a sail doing here?" I owlishly blinked.
"Yes, you're right" the man from before said.
"Hey, why are you still following us?!" Franky, Zoro, and Sanji snapped.
"Right about what?" Luffy asked.
"Like he said, what you see before you is a sail of giant proportions—it's so large that seeing the entire thing at once is quite difficult" the man answered. "You see, Thriller Bark is not the island it appears to be. Believe it or not, it's actually the world's largest pirate ship" he revealed.
"This whole island is a pirate ship?" Sanji questioned.
"The largest one in the world?" Zoro raised an eyebrow.
"Awesome!" Luffy exclaimed with literal stars in his eyes.
"I get it, so Thriller Bark, huh? A bark is a type of sailing ship with three or more mast" Franky said. "But it's hard to believe this entire island is some sort of boat" he admitted, finding it hard to believe in the man's words.
"The back of the mansion is where you'll find the mainmast, it's also the home of Gekko Moriah" the man told us before he finally left and allowed us to continue on with her journey. When we reached the front gates, it was Luffy who was the brave one to push and allow them to creak open.
"Well, here we go, to the ghost mansion" he said. "Hello?" he called out as he just barely knocked on the front doors of the mansion. "Nobodies there, I'm going in" he said when there wasn't a response.
"You didn't even give them enough time to answer" I sweat dropped.
"Hey, give them a minute" Sanji scowled, clearly not liking the rubber man's impatient nature.
"Aw, it's locked" Luffy frowned after attempting to push the door open, so as a solution, he just broke the handle to the door and pushed it opened.
"Well, that's one way to break into a person's house" I said.
"Hey, now it's open" Luffy smiled.
"Yeah, since you smashed the lock off" Zoro grumbled.
"Gekko Moriah, I'm here to kick your ass!" Luffy called out as we entered the mansion and worked our way into the dining room.
"Pretty creepy looking entryway" Franky remarked.
"Pretty amazing decorations" I whistled as I looked at the décor.
"Doesn't seem like anyone's here" Zoro said, taking note in how empty and silent the mansion was despite its massive size.
"Hey, any monsters in here? Gekko Moriah?" Luffy called out once again.
"Shouldn't there be a servant around here? They got to have tons of them in a mansion this size" Zoro said.
"Though that is true, it all depends on the person who owns the mansion" I said, barely glancing his way as I looked around before my eyes got a hazy look. "Haven't been in a place this big and luxurious in a long while..." I mumbled.
"What was that?" Zoro asked.
"Nothing" I softly smiled, watching as he eyed me for a few minutes before nodding his head and going back to looking around the dining room.
"And what's with the mess? They have a fight in here or what?" Sanji asked as he took note in how the room appeared to be in disarray as if a struggle or fight had broken out. "They better not have hurt Nami" he frowned.
"You're quite audacious, aren't you?" a pig's head laughed from the wall. "Those who know our Master usually know to fear him!" he sneered.
"Huh? Why is there a pig sticking out of the wall?" Luffy asked.
"He's a trophy I believe...though I don't know many people who'd proudly hang a pig's head on their wall over the head of a buck or bear" I said.
"Oh, we have many surprises yet to come" the pig grinned. "What do you say we welcome our guest, gentlemen?" he asked as the paintings on the wall and bear rug suddenly came to life.
"Well, that's great, are these paintings zombies too?" Sanji asked.
"That's certainly what it looks like" Robin said. "After all that we've seen on this island, we should expect this by now" she said.
"Looks like the captain's getting excited again" I smiled as I caught sight of the sparkles that flew around Luffy.
"I'll only ask this once, where did you hide Nami?" Sanji asked as he kicked one of the paintings.
"Screaming like that isn't very ladylike, a shame since you're so pretty" Robin sighed as a painting of a young woman came clawing her way towards her, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"You think so?" the painting asked as her screaming came to a halt the moment she heard the compliment.
"Well, you're better off staying in your frame and smiling, now twist" Robin sprouted arms around the painting and harshly twisted her frame. "The same goes for you" she said as she did the same to another painting that was coming right for her.
"He broke my spear in half!" one painting gasped. "What is this guy's body made of? Metal?" he asked as he held up his broken spear.
"Okay, stop! Stop! Stop! Who are you guys?!" another painting frantically asked as Franky grabbed a hold of the two that were attacking him. "Are you really on the same crew as those cowards from before?" he questioned in disbelief.
"Yep" Franky grinned as he smashed their two heads together.
"Two Sword Style: Nin Giri" Zoro said as he and I stood back to back.
"Nin Giri? What is that? Sushi?" one of the paintings inquired. "Give me some!" they selfishly demanded.
"Open wide" Zoro grinned as both he and I slashed down the paintings that came charging towards us.
"I'll stick to ramen" the painting weakly groaned.
"Wow! This island's like a party everywhere you go" Luffy laughed as he ran from the bear rug that chased him down.
"You little twerp" the rug snarled as the captain dodged each of his attacks.
"Too bad, if you hadn't tried to smash me, I would have asked you to join my crew" Luffy huffed as he stopped and changed his direction, now stretching his arms back as he rushed towards the bear. "Now...Gum Gum Bazooka!" he shot his arms forward and struck the rug right in the face.
"No! Not bear rug!" the pig cried out.
"Well, that takes care of that" Luffy said.
"Hold on, not yet, still got this little piggy up there" Franky reminded us as the pig started to nervously laugh, loudly squealing the moment he was plucked down from the wall.
"Oh, those three friends of yours? We've fed them, bathed them, and gave them a warm bed to sleep in" the pig nervously told us. "Good news, right? We're all friends" he gave a strained smile.
"Like we're going to fall for that" Franky scoffed.
"No, I swear I'm not lying to you! Why don't you go see for yourselves?! Right up those stairs!" the pig frantically cried. "Go ahead!" he urged, motioning us to hurriedly make our way up the stairs so that we could see that he was indeed telling the truth and that our friends were alright.
"Hold on, something's wrong here" Franky said, holding a hand up as he came to a halt. "Didn't you notice? Our chef is missing" he pointed out the moment he saw our confused looks.
"He's right, there's no pervy blond to be seen" I said, looking around as Zoro chuckled.
"Huh? He was just here a second ago, any of you zombie guys seen where he went?" Luffy asked just as all the paintings started to laugh.
"Hey, stop laughing! They can hear you" one of them whispered.
"They must have nabbed him and taken him away when we weren't looking" Zoro said. "Goodbye, Sanji, rest in peace" he said.
"At least try to be serious about this!" I huffed as I smacked his shoulder.
"That ain't cool" Franky scolded the swordsman.
"Eh, no biggy, it's Sanji" Luffy shrugged. "I'm sure he's going to be fine" he assured us.
"Maybe, but I'm worried about the other three—if the zombies were able to kidnap Sanji so easily, I'm sure they're in a lot of trouble right now" Robin said.
"Yeah, I have to agree with Robin on this one—Sanji may be able to handle himself, but I'm a bit iffy when it comes to Nami and them" I agreed.
"You're not so strong, the truth of the matter is, you've hardly put a dent in our numbers" the pig suddenly boasted.
"Oh?" Franky questioned.
"You, on the other hand, just lost one of your key fighters—I wonder who's next" the pig grinned.
"At any rate, let's be careful and try to stick together from now on" Robin suggested.
"Got it" I nodded while grabbing Zoro's arm. "You're not wandering away from this group on my watch" I said.
"Why the hell was that your first thought?!" Zoro blushed.
"Admit it, you're scared, you don't stand a chance" the pig mocked as we all started to ignore him.
"I suppose we could threaten him, but even if we did, I doubt he would tell us where they are" Robin said as she peered down at the pig.
"Fine, we'll just drag him with us and use him as a guide" Zoro said.
"What?!" the pig cried out as the paintings around us started to laugh once more.
"Yes, guide them" one of the paintings cooed.
"Hey now, come on" the pig nervously laughed, not liking the position he was suddenly being thrust into.
"Go ahead, if you want to die so badly, challenge our Master—it's your funeral" a painting sneered.
"He's so frightening, I can't speak his name. But here, let me try, Gekko Mori—ahh! Just as I thought, it's too scary!"
"That's right, he's one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, you know?"
"Those missing friends of yours are probably dead, or even worse, consider yourselves lucky that you lost so few—I'd save my own skin if I were you. If you face Gekko Mori—I mean, if you face our Master, none of you will survive. You'd do well to leave before you incur his wrath."
"Sorry, but I don't take advice from paintings, you want to help? Give a message to that stupid master of yours" Luffy frowned. "Tell him that if he lays a single finger on any of my friends, I'll kick his ass so hard this whole island will split in half!" he snapped as the paintings started to shake in a state of shock—none of them expecting the raven-haired man to say something so brash. "Sanji's fine even if he's alone, it's not like he's just going to roll over and die—come on, guys" he huffed as he motioned for us to follow.
"Luffy, don't pick your nose" I softly scolded the moment I saw his finger up his nose as we walked.
"Hold on! You're not really taking me along with you?!" the pig squealed as Franky carried him. "Say something, you guys!" he pleaded.
"I bet that old guy was right, Moriah has been watching us this whole time" Franky said as we made our way down the hallway. "We got to keep our eyes peeled for traps or we'll end up like our cook—we're already missing half our damn crew, wouldn't surprise me if Moriah is trying to split us up" he grumbled.
"Probably just Sanji's fault, he's pretty dumb" Zoro said. "Still can't believe we found one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea out here" he admitted.
"My question is, what are we going to do if one of our shadows gets stolen?" Franky curiously asked.
"Live a life of eternal darkness?" I questioned.
"Well, that would be interesting" Robin hummed as she peered down at the pig in Franky's arms.
"Don't look at me! I'm not squealing!" the pig huffed.
"I know I promised that old guy I'd beat up Moriah, but maybe that should be second on the list—got to look out for my crew first" Luffy said.
"How sweet" I smiled while giving Zoro's arm a tight squeeze as if to assure myself that he was still beside me.
"I can't tell you where your friends are, but wherever it is, they're in for a world of pain!" the pig grinned. "But I wouldn't worry about them, you're not much better off yourself, you'll see!" he laughed before whining the moment he was struck by Luffy.
"Okay, wall pig, you're going to stop oinking and start guiding us—got it?" the captain frowned.
"Yes, sir" the pig nodded.
"Hm? Something wrong?" Franky asked as I felt my body jerk back the minute Zoro came to a sudden halt, looking off in a different direction.
"Zoro?" I questioned, tilting my head.
"No, just my imagination" the swordsman shook his head after a moment's thought before we continued to walk.
"Hello, Sanji? Anybody?" Luffy called out the minute we entered a hallway that was filled with rows upon rows of suits of armor. "Stupid pig, just tell us where you hid our friends already, come on!" he frowned as he roughly began to rub his fist against the pig's head.
"Like I said before, ask all you like, I don't know a thing" the pig stubbornly grumbled.
"When we get our cook back, we're making bacon out of you" Franky threatened.
