-Chapter Two Hundred and Seventy-
"Perhaps they were strangled and they can't call out for help" Robin suddenly suggested in an attempt to explain why the others weren't answering our calls.
"No more predictions out of you! They're way too depressing!" Franky snapped.
"Such positive thinking you got there, Robin" I sweat dropped.
"Hey, wait a second, when did we last see Zoro?" Luffy asked which caused my eyes to widen as I just now realized that I didn't have a hold on his arm anymore.
"Don't tell me we already lost him" I groaned, not daring to look beside me in fear of proving myself right.
"Skylar, I thought you said you were going to keep a hold on him?" Luffy lightly scolded.
"I know, he must have slipped from my fingers when I wasn't paying attention!" I argued. "He is prone to getting lost, so you can't fully blame me for this" I grumbled as we continued to walk—it wasn't long after before we seemed to just lose Luffy as well.
"I don't like this" Franky frowned.
"I wonder what could have happened to them, it's certainly strange" Robin said.
"I knew I should have kept a closer watch on him, that dumbass can't tell his north from his south" I sighed, shoulders slumping as Robin gently patted my back.
"There's nowhere for them to go though—they were walking right next to us" Franky pointed out, baffled that we could lose two crew members on such a narrow path.
"You'd be surprised how lost Zoro can get, even when his path is a straight one" I said.
"Perhaps ghost had something to do with it" Robin suggested.
"Maybe" I sighed.
"I hope they didn't lose any limbs" the raven-haired woman said which caused me to chuckle.
"Dammit! Stop with all that creepy talk and start thinking about how we can find those guys and save them!" Franky snapped before we all came to a sudden halt as the sound of metal scraping against metal filled the hall. Peering back, we quickly spotted the golden suit of armor that was slowly making its way down the hallway—in a way, it would have looked threatening if it hadn't had tripped over its own two feet and crashed onto the ground in a heap of limbs.
"Zoro! Sanji! Man, where did they go?" Luffy asked as he lifted the mouthguard to the suit of armor.
"This is no time to screw around! What's wrong with you?!" Franky snapped as he hit the rubber man.
"Hey, everybody knows when there's armor lying around, you got to put it on and wear it—it's like fulfilling a man's dream!" Luffy argued.
"What? Oh, wow, that's a good point" Franky said, agreeing with the rubber man's logic.
"No, it's not" I sweat dropped.
"Don't tell me, when you made your body out of iron, you gave yourself a cold iron heart too?!" Luffy gaped as I suddenly felt Robin take my hand and began to lead me away from the two.
"I'm sorry, you're right! Even if I have fists of iron that's no replacement for a heart full of dreams!" Franky apologized as I peered back the moment I heard a guitar being strummed.
"Where'd he even get that thing?" I muttered the moment I spotted the acoustic guitar in the cyborg's hands.
"Yay! Song time!" Luffy cheered.
"Realizing I lost something so precious has blown a cold wind through the rusty cracks of my heart" Franky poetically said as he continued to strum the pink guitar in his hands. "I call this one Steel Cyborg Traveler Blue" I heaved a tired sigh and looked forward once more.
"Can't anyone on this crew take anything seriously?" I asked as Robin chuckled.
"I think you forgot the situation here!" the pig snapped at the two.
"Hey, there's a large hall up ahead" Robin pointed out.
"Really?" Luffy questioned as Robin and I took a peek into the room, our eyes widening with surprise the moment we saw what exactly it was.
"I see, that's what this is" Robin mumbled.
"Robin, Skylar, are Usopp and the others here?" Luffy asked the moment he and Franky caught back up with us.
"No, but take a look at this room" Robin said as she motioned for the two to peek inside. "We should be outside once we pass through here" she told them.
"Whoa! What is this place?" Luffy gaped the moment he peered into the large, spacious room before us.
"Looks like some kind of arena" Franky guessed.
"It's actually a lot more complicated than that" the pig corrected. "Oh, but don't worry about the details, you'll find out soon enough since you've conveniently walked right into our trap!" the pig grinned.
"Look out!" I shouted the minute I spotted the suit of armor that came charging towards Franky with its sword held high. Instantly did I sigh in relief when the cyborg dodged the attack.
"Franky!" Luffy exclaimed.
"Who's that?" Robin asked as I drew one of my swords.
"A haunted suit of armor?!" Luffy excitedly gasped, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"It must be a zombie" Robin guessed. "It has spears piercing its body, but it's still moving around" she noted when she saw just how badly damaged the suit of armor was.
"It's already dead, I doubt those spears are doing it much harm" I said.
"So now the zombies are arming themselves? Great because this wasn't bad enough" Franky frowned as the suit of armor once again charged towards him only to have its attacks blocked. The fight between the two seemed tedious and it wasn't long before the cyborg finally just punched the suit of armor away from him...only to have it quickly retaliate with more attacks of its own. Franky dodged the attack with ease and instead let the wall behind him take the full force of the damage. "Right through the wall?!" he gaped the moment he saw the hole in the wall that was left behind by the zombie's attack. "So what if you can use a sword?
"Stop wasting my time, punk!" the cyborg irritably growled as he shot the suit of armor once more away from him, but before he had the chance to start boasting, he came to a quick realization that the suit of armor was already starting to pick itself back up as if it hadn't taken any damage at all.
"Look, man he's tough" Luffy said.
"What the hell?!" Franky frowned before quickly blocking the attack sent his way...but it seems he wasn't quick enough to dodge the next attack aimed for his stomach.
"Did he just...?" Luffy and I stared with wide eyes at the scene before us.
"Impossible..." Robin breathlessly muttered as I quickly stepped in front of the two when I noticed that the suit of armor was now making its way towards us. My body was tense and ready for a fight, only to quickly relax for but a moment the minute I spotted Franky stand up behind the suit of armor—his hand now harshly grasping its helmet.
"A little cut from a dead guy ain't going to kill me" the cyborg growled as he roughly threw the suit of armor away from us.
"Stay down already!" Luffy frowned as we watched the armor start to pick itself back up once again.
"That guy's different, he's a lot tougher than those guys we beat the crap out of earlier" Franky noted.
"Yeah, what gave that away? The damage to the wall or the fact that he refuses to stay down?" I huffed.
"Now you will know real terror! You'll see what makes a zombie truly frightening!" the pig laughed.
"Hey, why are you way over there?" Luffy asked when he noticed that the pig had somehow slipped from our grasps and ended up a distance away from us.
"They don't even feel a hint of pain, never get tired, and these Zombie Generals offer even more! They've all made quite a name for themselves in battle before they died and were brought back to life!" the pig boasted. "Among them are a knight, a wicked criminal, a samurai, a pirate, and also a gunslinger" he listed. "Just imagine the possibilities, these ruthless fighters combined with the relentless power of the undead—not a single member of your crew is going to escape this place! Give up, you're done!" he laughed.
"Shut up, pig!" Luffy angrily snapped which scared the wall decoration into running away.
"Wall zombie!" and with that exclamation, a wall suddenly moved itself in front of the door and blocked Luffy from chasing after the pig.
"He locked us in here!" the captain frowned.
"Then we can only move forward, but…" Robin trailed off as she took a glance around us.
"That's a lot of zombies, didn't notice there were that many in here before" I whistled as I stared at the horde of zombies that now suddenly surrounded us.
"Whoa!" Luffy gaped.
"Speaking from experience from fighting one Zombie General, I'd say we're in pretty deep crap here" Franky said.
"There's armor guys everywhere!" Luffy exclaimed.
"Trying to take these guys down one at a time doesn't seem like the way to go, trying to take them all at once seems like an even dumber idea" Franky frowned. "This ain't good" he grumbled.
"Yeah, you got a point, and this ain't even the fight we came in here for" Luffy nodded.
"Yeah, but we can't just sit here either, so we have to come up with something" I said.
"If we somehow manage to escape this hall, we'll most likely end up outside in the courtyard" Robin said.
"Right, then let's split up and meet there, and be careful—I don't want anyone else to disappear, got it?" Luffy questioned as he looked between us all, making it clear with his eyes that he was being serious about this order of his.
"Got it" Robin nodded.
"Attack!" one of the zombies ordered as they all charged forward.
"Let's go!" Luffy huffed.
"Yeah!" and just like that, we all split up among the sea of zombies, trying to push our way through the crowd to get to the other side. I found my sword clashing against another as I did my best to push back against it, but no matter how many times I pushed them away or knock them down, they just came springing right back up and charging with that same energy, never looking worn out or bothered by the amount of times I threw them back and away. It was quickly becoming tiring.
"It doesn't seem like we're making any headway" Robin remarked as she noted how none of us seemed to get very far from where we had started, our breathing already becoming labored with each clash we had with the zombies surrounding us.
"Dammit! Kicking their asses over and over is going to wear me out" Franky growled.
"They're stubborn, what a pain" Luffy frowned as we all pushed ourselves harder, continuing to knock down and push back against the zombies that blocked our way, but it still wasn't enough.
"One Sword Style: Thirty-Six Caliber Phoenix!" my head snapped upwards and in the direction of the voice that proclaimed such a move, my heart now starting to pound away in my chest as I watched Luffy dodge the attack that was sent straight at him.
"That move! Zoro?!" the rubber man and I excitedly exclaimed, both of us perking right up at the thought of finally finding one of the friends we had lost.
"Zoro, what's your problem?! That's dangerous!" Luffy snapped as I smiled widely and ran towards the swordsman, only to come to a skidding halt when I noticed that it wasn't really my swordsman.
"That's not Zoro" I mumbled, nose scrunching up at the sight of the strange-looking zombie.
"Scars on the back is a shame of the swordsman, but I've got scars on my entire body!" the zombie proclaimed.
"You look different, but you are Zoro, right?" Luffy asked.
"Does that look anything like Zoro?!" I snapped at the raven-haired man.
"Nuh-uh, I'm Jigoro" the zombie shook his head.
"Jigoro? You mean you're not Zoro?" Luffy questioned, not really following along with what the zombie was telling him.
"If you're not Zoro, then how do you know that attack?" I frowned, quickly growing uncomfortable with the intense stare of the zombie the minute he looked in my direction before becoming taken aback by the blood that suddenly started to dribble down his nose. "Eh?" I took a step back the minute he stepped closer, raising one of his hands and for a moment I thought he was going to reach for my face...instead, my face exploded with color when I felt a sudden squeeze to my breast as he reached out and grasped it like it was the most normal thing in the world to do—like it was something he really had to do.
"They're so soft..." Jigoro mumbled as my body started to shake with anger and embarrassment, but before I could do anything, I squealed as I was suddenly pulled into his chest. Arms wrapping tightly around me as a hand gently rested and patted my bottom. "Nice ass too" he remarked.
"Pervert! Get off me!" I embarrassingly snapped as I harshly pushed away and slapped him across the face before quickly stepping back and away as I held my sword out as a form of protection. "You don't just go grabbing a woman like that, freak!" I cried out.
"Why are you using Zoro's swords move?" Luffy glared as the zombie started to rub his sore cheek, looking a bit confused by my harsh reaction.
"I'm tired of hearing your loud mouth, you damn pirate! You're my sworn enemy!" Jigoro suddenly proclaimed the moment he looked towards Luffy as he now placed a sword in his mouth.
"I am?" Luffy questioned.
"He is?" I owlishly blinked.
"I'm going to cut you into little pieces!" Jigoro sneered.
"Man, you're a lot like Zoro and even more of a weirdo than Sanji! You're also even dumber!" Luffy laughed as he found himself unable to take the zombie seriously.
"Come on, Luffy, he's not…I mean he isn't exactly…shit, you're right" I said, realizing that I couldn't really disagree with him on this. When I didn't receive a response though, I looked towards the rubber man, slowly blinking when I noticed that he wasn't there anymore. "Where did you go?! Did you just leave me all alone with this pervert?!" I cried out as I frantically began to look around before squealing when I noticed just how close Jigoro had gotten. Jumping back, I held out one of my swords towards him, attacking the moment he took a step forward...but the moment I swung my sword down at him, he caught my wrist and pulled me close once more.
"I can't bring myself to harm you, don't worry, I won't let anything hurt you" I owlishly blink at his words, they sounded just like something I would expect Zoro to say—he even used that same gentle tone that he would sometimes use when speaking to me. Though the slight warmth in my chest that had started to build up because of the gentle words was quickly dashed away the minute I felt cold fingers start to slide their way up my dress. 'Even with such kind words, he's still a pervert!' I felt my eye twitched as my blood began to boil.
"Skylar, grab on!" I looked up the minute I heard Robin call my name, quick to spot her and Franky coming swinging towards me. Harshly pushing myself away from the zombie, I quickly jumped up and grabbed hold of Franky's stretched out hand. Tightly clutching it as we swung right over the horde of zombies, soon taking off running the moment our feet touched the ground.
"It's no use, they're still coming" Franky frowned. "I know what'll stop them!" he quickly turned around and faced the horde, blowing out a stream of fire straight towards them and setting them all aflame.
"Prepare the buckets!" one of the zombie suddenly ordered as buckets of water were quickly dumped on the burning flesh of the zombies, putting the fire out.
"What?! No way!" Franky cried out in shock. "Hey, look out!" he shouted when three zombies suddenly shot past him and straight towards Robin and I. Robin was the one to make quick work of them by using her Devil Fruit powers, and with that, we all started to run once again when we realized that trying to fight them really was pointless.
"Where's Luffy?" the raven-haired woman asked when she noticed that the captain was nowhere to be seen.
