Hello, hello! This is my first fan fiction for The Nanny and I have no idea about Paris and don't even know if the sentences I've written here are correct. If they are not, I am apologizing right now.

The story takes place after Fran and Max were rescued and before Niles' realization about and proposals to C.C.

I'd appreciate a review and an input if you read this story.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy this.

It was a warm Autumn day in Paris and Niles decided to sleep in and order a brunch later via room service. He rarely had time to himself during vacations and without the kids around, (they were in New York, being babysat by Sylvia) he felt that he was at the top of the world.

Until C.C. Babcock decided to make his little vacation as terrible as possible by dragging him to museums, parks, and other places that he knew she already went to a lifetime ago. While he is a man of culture, Niles preferred to lounge inside his hotel room rather than loiter around the city with other vacationers. Besides, he spent most of his summer in the country when he was a kid and almost knew the place like the back of his hand.

So, when C.C. pounded, rather than knocked on his hotel room and practically dragged him out, he didn't have much choice.

She informed him that the newlyweds, Fran and Maxwell, already made some plans to explore the city of love. She explained that she grew bored of browsing through endless television channels inside her room and without her work, she might as well have her fun and ruining his fun is her form of entertainment. He had all the intentions of saying no but then C.C. batted her eyelashes and made doe eyes at him and he knew he was a goner.

That incident happened a few hours ago, and now they've just finished touring the Louvre. C.C. is now protesting about having some light lunch but it seems like most of the restaurants they've passed through are either full or have a very long waiting line. To appease her, Niles led her to a small cafè that he frequents a lot whenever he's in Paris. She grumbled that she needed lunch and not desserts or coffee and Niles promised her that they would get a late lunch later. C.C. rolled her eyes but the low lights and the smell of fresh coffee beans, coupled with the sweetness of the desserts killed the protest that was about to come out of her mouth.

To their surprise, the cafè is a little too crowded for their liking and when Niles asked her, "To-go?" She did nothing but nod her head. They walked to the counter and waited for the server to come.

"Deux cappuccinos à emporter s'il vous plaît. Merci!" Niles ordered in perfect French. Behind him, he heard C.C. made a sound that is in between being impressed and being noncommittal. He turned around with his right eyebrow raised as though asking a silent question. C.C. shrugged her shoulders and said, "I almost always forget that you're part French." Niles' brow furrowed then. Surprised that she knew of his french blood. "I guess aside from being a witch, you're a psychic now, too?" He said in response to her, his boyish smirk made its way to his face. A weak zinger, he'd admit, but he's not really in the mood to have a verbal sparring inside the quaint coffee shop. Even he knows which ambiance to ruin with their little game, and this place is not one of them. "Har-har, Lurch." She said while rolling her eyes. It appears to him that she also doesn't want to participate in their game of barbs and he appreciates it.

He smiled at her mischievously and looked around the shop, as if searching for empty seats even though they ordered to-go cups. He looked at her again when he heard her take a breath as a prelude to another tirade. "I heard you tell Nanny Fine about it and even Maxwell has told me in passing when we were talking about how we may expand the business in Paris. Besides..." C.C. explained to Niles' unanswered question and trailed off. She also put on an exaggerated show of being innocent as she ended her sentence abruptly.

Niles looked at her suspiciously, then. C.C. acting all innocent could only mean one of two things: she has a comeback that could destroy every zinger he'll ever think of throwing at her or a planned prank that's already underway without him knowing, and neither of those two sounds enticing to him. He'd really rather go back to their hotel to relax rather than rid his newly bought shirt of any coffee stains as a result of one of her practical jokes.

So, being cautious but still sporting a suspicious glare, he asked her slowly, "Besides... what?" She shrugged once more at his question, acting as if what she's about to say is actually an innocent thing, and not something that might lead to them being escorted out and being banned from the cafè, which would not be the first time.

"Besides," C.C. started, "I've tasted some of your french doings and from what I've known, only someone who has French blood can do something that incredible." C.C. explained with a smile that seems genuine to Niles. And what she said melted all his suspicions away. If there is one thing that he knows C.C. almost never insults, it's his cooking.

He beamed with pride at her compliment and missed the smirk that almost graced C.C.'s face before she put on her 'sweet backer smile'. "That's nice of you to say, Babcock. Pray tell which one of the desserts was it? Hmm? The macarons?" He guessed, a barb about her new found kindness far from his mind. C.C. shook her head to indicate that it was not the macarons and Niles frowned. Surely it was the macarons, he's seen her eat more than three pieces of them every time he bakes it. "The macarons you make are one of the best but the one that I'm saying always left an impression in my mouth that even these Paris bakeshops can't compare." She said, "In fact, I have been craving it since I've had it the last time." She added and browsed through the different desserts that are displayed in front of them.

He followed her as she walked slowly, scrutinizing each of the sweet delicacies that he knew she liked. He followed her gaze and guessed again. "The crème brûlée?" Again, C.C. shook her head. "The chocolate soufflé? Pain au chocolat?" C.C. made a 'hmm' sound as if considering his guesses but shook her head no again, the smallest of smirks, pulling at her lips. He's getting a little bit irritated with her little game and he had an inkling that that's what she's going for.

He stopped following her and sighed out loud. C.C. noticed this and she stopped browsing through the desserts and made her way back to him. Dragging him to the pick-up counter, as she spied that their drinks are almost done. "Come on, Butler Boy. Annoyed already? Guess it's true that older people tend to get irritated easily." She said and laughed deeply. Niles might have found her laugh adorable but due to his annoyance at her, only looked at C.C. with disapproving eyes.

He stared at her in order to make her uncomfortable but Niles knew that she's not that easily bothered. This made Niles' irk grow and he burst, "Well? Which of the bloody French things I did is it?" He said in a deep voice and was almost growling at her.

Before he can process that she walked right into C.C.'s bait, the server handed them their cups, "Deux tasses de cappuccinos à emporter. Merci." C.C. thanked the server, also in French, and he saw the telltale signs of her trademark smirk forming in her blood red lips, as she arranged the cups in her hands.

The smirk she did made the hair at the back of his head stand up. Not entirely sure if it was from arousal or fear, Niles cleared his throat and looked at her inquisitively, asking her a silent "Well?" He was sure that C.C. would never answer him just to spite him but he was surprised when her lips grew into a full smirk and she stepped a little closer to him, effectively trapping him between the counter and the coffees that she's holding. She looked him straight in the eyes and he almost balked at their intensity, and then whispered two words that made him shiver unintentionally.

"Your kiss."

She then walked away, cackling her sultry laugh, leaving him stunned and a little uncomfortable in his groin area. He caught up to her and whispered something back.

"Now that I know which it is, maybe I could help you relieve that certain craving of yours."

It was her turn to shiver.
