"Michael! Slow down! You'll get an upset stomach if you eat that fast!" scolded the Knight Industries Two Thousand while waiting outside a restaurant. KITT had scanned where his driver and soulmate were inside the establishment. It turns out that Michael Knight and his guest are sitting by the farthest corner away from the entrance, with plenty of privacy. He's confident enough to signal the comlink his loved one, Michael, is wearing.

Michael discreetly speaks into the comlink, resembling a regular digital smartwatch. "I'm hungry, KITT. Don't worry. You know, I don't get sick from eating fast. I'll promise to slow down. Besides, I've got plenty of catching up to do with my son. How about you do the same? Is KI3T with you?"

"Where would he be, Michael? Our sons arrived at the restaurant at the same moment we did." KITT responded with irritation at first, then changed to one of affection, "I'll speak with my son. Enjoy your meal since we are in no hurry to go anywhere. I love you, Michael."

"I love you too, Pal. We'll see you two later," Michael replied before ending communications.

KITT, a sentient computer inside a Trans AM, sighs to himself before contacting his son, the Knight Industries Three Thousand, beside his passenger door.

The younger computer inside a Mustang Shelby also communicated with his driver and soulmate, Mike Knight, son of Michael Knight, before acknowledging his father's signal. {I'll be with you in a moment, Father.}

KITT waits patiently until his son finishes, then hears his son's voice inside their private channel. {My apologies, Father. My Michael decided to tease me about my objections to his food choices. Why he chooses a hamburger and french fries is beyond my CPU.}

KITT flashes his Anamorphic Equalizer almost 'absent-mindedly' with two whooshes for emphasis. (Humans sometimes eat what they call comfort foods. When eating such foods, they feel warm and cozy afterward. It may be possible that Mike regards hamburgers and french fries as his comfort foods. I've known Michael Senior for over twenty-six years and have seen him eat steak and mashed potatoes as his comfort foods.)

KI3T flashes his scanners in response. {But, Father, aren't comfort foods slowly cooked to release aromas, making them appetizing to humans? Like stews, roast beef, or turkey?} he asked, confused while computing all the possible foods humans considered comfort.

KITT softly laughs. (You are correct, KI3T, but humans prove over and over that they don't always follow the 'rules' about many things, including food.)

{Humans are strange, Father. I could stop recommending better food choices, but my programming dictates that I protect my driver, including keeping him healthy. What should I do?} KI3T asked again, more quietly.

(Don't worry, Son. All we can do is gently remind our loved ones to try to eat more vegetables. Michael eats more salads than french fries these days. Not arguing with him when he wants his comfort foods as a treat makes me happy. Give Mike time. He'll agree with your recommendations eventually.) KITT replied gently. (You have done an excellent job taking care of Mike. Speaking of our loved ones, they appear to have finished eating.) KITT detected the two men leaving the table.

{My sensors confirm, Father. Excuse me, Michael is communicating with me through his earwig. I will resume our conversation momentarily}. KI3T closes the channel and returns two minutes later. {Father! I don't believe it! Michael changed his mind about eating a hamburger and french fries. He had a beef stew with plenty of vegetables instead. He said it was delicious.}

Both computers laugh. They know their humans will remain unpredictable and continue to love them even when they decide what strange foods are considered comfort foods.
