Heroes vs Villains - Epilogue
Chapter 1 - Reunion Show Afterparty
Hello, hello! I'm back! …For now at least. I'm here to get this thing started before I really end this first generation of characters for good. Not that you'll never see them again, but I wanted to properly end this.
Let's just start things off with the reunion show party right after the cameras stopped filming.
~KF
HEROES VS VILLAINS
Alright. Now was an appropriate time to call the whole scene… 'Survivor Hollywood' supposedly. It was up for debate of whether or not the name was fitting. There were of course the twenty contestants that were on the latest season of the show at the time, other big name characters such as Marth Lowell (winner of Emperors vs Knights), Doc Louis (winner of Caribbean), Ken Masters, Funky Kong, Link, and all the D and F listers that were on the show such as Kawasaki, King Knight, Shield Knight, Banjo, and even the first ever boot of the whole series, Dedede.
…Okay, maybe that was a little too shady. The point was that all seventy-eight contestants that participated in the competition were able to make it to the big celebration. Yes, five might not have been the strongest number, though it was an achievement for the series to conclude its fifth season anyway.
Pizza, drinks, burgers, wings, any food item that went well with parties were there as the survivors were quickly eating everything up while chatting among themselves. There were simply so many players at one time, it was hard to focus on who in particular deserved some attention first.
Maybe Link and Zelda, both runners up from Kodai Island and Emperors vs Knights. They may have both lost to Sonic and Marth, but they were doing their absolute best to not let it bother them too much. Besides, Zelda was even more content given the fact she went to compete on the All Star season. It was unfortunate that she was unable to reach the finals again, but at this point she was simply feeling like taking a break. Survivor was exhausting indeed.
The two sat on one of the many couches together. Now keep in mind there were several other former Survivor players all around them as Corrin, Snake, Cloud, Tifa, and Sheik were all seen nearby. Yet the focus was going to be on the two Legend of Zelda runner ups for the time being unless it was necessary to add any other name to the mix.
Zelda heaved a sigh after a long minute of her not saying anything. Maybe she somehow managed to think of all seventy-five days of her Survivor experience during that short time frame. "I am still in disbelief, honestly. I sort of impressed myself at what I was able to achieve out there, and I suppose you feel the same way."
"Heh." Link snickered remembering how things were in his old season. "Your first season was a lot tamer than mine. I would have preferred to swap places with you if we had the ability to go back in time."
She giggled in response. "You were always telling me how headache-inducing Kodai Island was. I don't think you'd really want me to endure what you had to go through."
"You are a strong woman. There is nothing you can't do. I think you would have been fine no matter where you started."
"The tea is really nice! Production must really have good taste."
Seeing Princess Peach Toadstool approaching her way, Zelda formed a calm smile. "I agree. I am already considering having seconds."
"Well you know what, I was thinking of getting up anyway." Wanting to be a gentleman to the ladies, Link was now on his feet. "I'll get us both some more. Be right back."
And of course, the two women naturally waited for the man to be just enough a distance away in order for them to be comfortable talking about him.
"You know, I still find this funny. On the very last day of his season, he told Sonic that he lied about the two of you being a couple as an excuse to why he had no interest flirting with Bayonetta."
Okay, that right there was just another reason why Kodai Island was not as great as the rest of the Survivor seasons: pure cringe. First of all, Link was not known to be much of a flirt in the first place. And even if he was,... him and Bayonetta of all people? Suddenly it snowed in the middle of July! Crazy.
Sure it was a minor nitpick, but small cringe moments like those that happened for seemingly no reason made it rather difficult and awkward to recall all the details at times.
In spite of all that, Zelda kept her grin on, almost laughing actually. "Well, whatever it took to avoid having a target on your back. Besides, not lying was not really known to be part of the culture of Survivor. There were times where folks would question others even if they were actually being truthful about something. And you know, it was hard to even blame them. Knowing who's being genuine and who wasn't, some of the people that were in the competition honestly deserved a medal for how well they were able to craft their lie. I know it still takes a lot out of me to be dishonest about something, but… can't say I can have it both ways where I sign up to be involved in the show and always expect someone to tell me the truth no matter what."
"I mean, I may have only been involved for three days. But there was still a lot going on at the time. When our team lost the first challenge, there was mad chaos around camp because nobody wanted to go home. So if it took lying to get out of a bad situation, good job on them for that… You know Ghirahim was saying certain things to both of us just to get a reaction."
Ghira- who? …Oh yeah, he was also on season two. Too bad he flopped as a villain. Maybe it was a good thing he got booted early. Shadow the Hedgehog completely deserved to survive throughout the pre-merge in comparison.
"So when are we gonna go Go Kart racing?"
Daisy Floral Rose was now approaching the scene, making this the very first time three princesses were seen together at the same time (maybe Zelda was filling Rosalina's spot, since she was probably elsewhere at the party). And also, Peach and Daisy were finally going to be having their own interaction with each other for the first time in the series.
"Mario's looking at next Friday as an option." Toadstool informed her. "Link is definitely inching to try it out. Zelda over here is more nervous, but I think once she gets into it, she'd probably end up having a good time."
The brunette chuckled. "It's not as if 'cars' exist where I am. I am forever thankful for the both of you and the Mario brothers for giving Link and I driving lessons. Now we both have valid driver's licenses. Kart racing however, takes things to an entirely different level. So I can't help but feel rather anxious about it."
So why was Link apparently all excited for it? Probably because Zelda was never a playable character in Mario Kart 8.
Okay, so that was some of the human Survivor contestants. Little bit of Mario and Legend of Zelda representation going on there.
Though it was probably best to get caught up with some of the anthropomorphic characters. Sonic the Hedgehog was the very first winner of the show, so perhaps his series was the most appropriate to check up on.
Knuckles the Echidna (one of his best friends) was sitting with him at a table eating a plate of nachos. "This is unusual, my man. I feel like if I'm not seeing you eating chili dogs, the whole universe has gone mad. You might as well pinch me as hard as you can to the point where you break the skin under my fur."
The blue blur shrugged at his comments. "I don't eat 'em all the time. It's not the only thing that exists. If you keep eating the same food over and over again, it kinda gets boring after a while. Variety is the spice of life after all."
"True to that I guess. So I suppose whenever Tails is old enough, he's going to be next to compete on the show." Miles 'Tails' Prower? That was a nice possibility right there. He already knew a lot for his age, but he was barely a pre-teen at that point. Far too young to be a contestant even though it's been a few years since Kodai Island.
On the bright side, at least he was not going to wait as long as Charmy Bee from Team Chaotix. Poor guy was two years younger than him.
Looking towards his right, Sonic was eyeing his canon rival, Shadow the Hedgehog. The dude was standing near a corner seemingly having a conversation with Rouge the Bat (another contestant from season two). It was amazing how the two of them never shared a single interaction during Emperors vs Knights due to Rouge completely flopping.
Fun fact: both of them worked for the same company, G.U.N. But in this series, the two of them were barely aware of the other's existence. Otherwise it would have been unfair to the other eighteen contestants on the season due to the whole point of the show having castaways interacting with one another who never met previously.
Perhaps by this point though, the two co-workers probably managed to at least form a civil relationship.
"You know, part of me wishes I was on the same tribe as him. He really was having a time out there based on what we saw on TV."
Since he was only pointing with his face, Knuckles had to look his way and use his eyes to search the crowd until he finally found the person Sonic was talking about.
"You're closer to him than I am." Mobian's greatest hero pointed out. "Did he open up to you a little of how he was feeling?"
"He did occasionally rant about his time during our season here and there, but I never thought there was a bigger issue inside of him. Had I known that there was something more deep, I would have loved to have a talk with him… and this is coming from a guy that is pretty hard to get through half the time."
Well, Knuckles was indeed a knucklehead for a reason. Yet it did not mean he was not aware of a thing or to about himself. Hotheaded as he was at times, he was not afraid to hear some criticism when necessary. He probably had more guts than Shadow himself in that department.
"Throughout the past couple years I did try to get to know him personally, but he was always such a tough cookie to crack so I figured he didn't want anything to do with me." Aww… "I don't take it personally because not everybody has to like everybody, but the two of you seemed to get along well together. So if he never opened up to you like that, there was really something going on."
"Rouge is even closer to him though." The echidna brought up. "The man talked with her the most out of everyone when it came to this show."
With that in mind, the two GUN agents clearly got closer together after season two wrapped.
"Omega is going to miss us working with him while we're on vacation, but… eh. He'll be alright." Rouge felt that a certain robotic co-worker of hers had the ability to make it at least one week without her and Shadow. Ever since Emperors vs Knights, the three of them have been on missions together more often. …Did the company feel like they all had good chemistry with each other or something?
"Psh." Shadow folded his arms, his glass of white wine being right by him at their two person table. "He and the company are going to suffer a thousand percent without us around. We are two of the few people left that actually know how to do the job. I was mixed in a group of a few random folks and I ended up staying with them. Though after hearing from you and how you operate, that's when I decided to change departments."
So that explained everything. Rouge the Bat really did appear to be someone rather special for the hedgehog. And if anyone found themselves to form a close relationship with him, that was enough for a gold medal right there.
"Once we leave here, we're going straight to Hawaii." Hawaii!? Damn. The woman had good taste regarding tourist attractions. Anticipating the location, she giggled. "I can just imagine you wearing a flower necklace."
He harshly rolled his eyes. "My overall intention is to simply take a break from work. Nothing more. I could care less of where we're going. I'm more surprised of all people, you decided to take me with you."
"I have to have some company with me. And besides, you're so serious all the time. So maybe putting you in a different environment (without the pressures on being on Survivor) could probably mellow you out a little. I think the world needs to see Shadow the Hedgehog more relaxed for a change. Do you think that's too much to ask?"
And to that, he folded his arms and hunched his shoulders. "I never said I cared what anyone thinks of me, but taking time off from work could indeed calm my nerves."
Also, maybe his mental health would have been less likely to be in a crisis.
Moving on, Ken Masters, Ryu Hoshi, Donkey Kong, and Funky Kong were all at their own table together with some pizza and soda. Of course they naturally looked as if they were best friends in high school always having lunch together in the cafeteria. It was probably the most obvious friend group of the whole series.
"I think opening up a martial arts class and starting a podcast for SmashTube would be a great idea." Ryu was speaking. "I think at this point with everyone looking at Ken and I right now, maybe take the opportunity to open up about ourselves and how we managed to get to where we are today."
Not a bad idea considering that each and every person had their own backstory. And with both street fighters being famous, fans were indeed curious to learn how they were able to get themselves in a certain position.
"Sounds like you two are completely capitalizing off this level of publicity." DK figured. Though in their defense, who would not have done it? Survivor was the center of attention at the time. "Martial arts classes and a podcast? That's a very busy road ahead of you."
"Well Ryu and I can make the podcast during downtime when we have nothing better to do but to record ourselves and talk." Ken told him, his slice of pepperoni pizza being just enough to make anybody hungry. Hopefully the audience was having refreshments of their own. "It's not like either one of us are going to be appearing in a season any time soon, and maybe it's for the best. We really were on three consecutive seasons back to back to back."
"I suppose DK and I can make our cameo appearances when the timing is right." Funky Kong joked, even though he knew it would have been lovely for him to be a guest star on the channel. "I may not look it, but I'm pretty decent at sparring myself. It's just that I'm much more known for being the last person that would get into an altercation with anyone. That's why people are usually more intimidated by DK than me."
Woah… Okay. A couple of things to say there. Firstly, Funky Kong? Sparring? Given by first impressions with those sunglasses, peace signs, and the surfboard, him being a decent fighter was probably shocking for some folks to hear. Sure, fans would have liked him to be his cousin's echo fighter in Smash Ultimate. But since this was non-canon, it was still rather surprising for him to say that he was rather good at defending himself.
And second, if he had the reputation of him 'not liking to strategize' eventually leading to him losing to Isabelle in Survivor - Mexico, Funky being the last person to be involved in an altercation was something that was not so surprising. Instead, he would have been a type to 'de escalate' situations in order for no conflicts. DK honestly was most likely that kind of monkey as well. After all, he did manage to get Mario and Bowser on the same page in the first season.
"People are not intimidated by me." He went on to say. "At least I hope that's not the case. Even when you're not in the public eye, you try to be as friendly as possible to others. I learned to treat people the way you want to be treated. Famous or not. That kind of behavior goes a long way, actually. Even if some fans can be absolutely ridiculous, it's all about how you handle tough situations. Otherwise if you're caught on camera lashing out because somebody chose to not respect your boundaries, it unfortunately does not have a good look on you regardless. It's called being professional."
What an educated response right there. …Perhaps this could have been seen as a lowkey sign to certain celebrities that were in hot water at the time for having a hard time adjusting to fame? If so, it was a guessing game regarding who he would have been referring to.
Hint: there was a certain somebody who had a name starting with a C.
"A simple lesson of maintaining your composure, basically." Ryu put it as a long story short. "I'm pretty sure everyone sitting at this table knows how to do that. Though I suppose sometimes even the calmest of us need to be reminded of that for the sake of preserving our mental health. I mean, just because you're famous and you have all the money in the world doesn't mean that you're going to be happy for the rest of your life. Maybe that can be one of the first videos Ken and I can talk about on the podcast (with you two included). We have all played this game, giving the four of us more publicity, but we're just as normal as everyone else in this universe."
"Tell you what, though." DK put his bottle of soda down for a second. "There are certain reptiles and certain cool kids that are taking full advantageof the fame right now by shamelessly stirring up fake beef with one another just for laughs. Then again, at least it's all fun and games at the end of the day. But the best move for us is to not take sides and remain neutral."
Ken snickered loudly. "We're not actually taking this seriously, are we?"
"Not at all." He shook. "It'll just be amusing to see what's gonna happen and how it's all gonna unfold and everything."
Well sitting in a section of their own were Bowser, Ganondorf, Dedede, Ridley, and K. Rool. That was right: the five notorious kings of Smash all together. Well,... Ridley was not technically a king since being a lord was a slightly lower level of nobility. Though for this case scenario, it was a crime to not include him with the others.
Also, Ganondorf and Dedede! They were literally not heard from since season one! Despite them not being the most memorable castaways of the show, both of their eliminations held some form of significance. Dedede was the first ever boot of the whole series, and Ganon was not only the first merge boot of the show, but also the victim of arguably the most classic blindside ever.
Bowser ironically played a part in both of them being voted out, by the way. Though it seemed neither of them really cared that much, since it was never really Bowser's fault in either case. Dedede aligned himself with Bowser, and it was either the turtle or the Gerudo in that merge round.
"It's quite a bummer that I feel like I could have done a lot better. My world for some reason has the hardest time on this show." Damn. Even the self-proclaimed King of Dream Land was aware of the Kirby characters never really being on the winning side of things. They basically had as much luck as Sylvester J. Pussycat trying to eat Tweety Bird. "I don't know if it's some kind of curse or what, but I'm known for being the first ever person eliminated! At least my name is going down in history for something, right?"
"Alright, sure." Bowser spoke after drinking a bit of his beer with his mug. "Guess that's something no one could ever take from you. And don't feel bad if your home land is cursed. I am my own curse, apparently. If any of us ever participate in the competition again, let's all try our best to avoid ninth place. It's never a good spot to be in."
"You were at least fortunate enough to make a placement in the single digits multiple times." Ridley felt that Bowser needed to be grateful for what he had. "I never even found myself a spot in the top eleven. If that's not embarrassing, I don't know what is."
"You had two seasons on you. Being offered a second chance in the first place is something not everybody had." K. Rool brought up.
"I suppose I second that…" mumbled Ganon.
"Meh. That may be true, but it doesn't make things right on my end. I should have been on a winning streak like Ken from my first season." Ridley took a sip of beer himself, and he was actually loving the taste. "This tastes just like some of the drinks we have back in Zebes. The bartender seems to know what he's doing."
Bowser took a moment to look at his friend's glass, him being somewhat surprised at the amount of progress that was made. "You got your drink after me, and you somehow are already almost done with yours..."
"It's fine." The space pirate said firmly. "You can have a drink and still be a responsible adult. Alcohol is not known to have much effect on me. If anything, you should be the one that needs to be concerned since you were the one that told me stories of you being drunk regularly during your hot-headed days."
BURNNNN!
Both K. Rool and Dedede laughed so loudly, nearly the entire room glanced over in their direction. Holy Jesus, Bowser. That was why it was important to never come for somebody like Ridley of all smashers.
"I'm really interested in learning more about this Reptile Runaway thing, though. I don't know where in the world this beef is coming from, but I'd be all in on the gossip!" Well getting into some messy drama was probably the more productive option for Dedede, rather than taking food from his home world. "The one question I do have is how in the world Banjo of all people got in it? He's not a reptile! If furries count, I should be involved in it, too!"
Since he was a penguin, beyond everything else.
"Banjo was the only non-reptile on the scene at the time." K. Rool explained. "Vector, Yoshi, and Charizard all happened to be around. So thinking on my feet, Reptile Runaways was the name I came up with. I didn't care if Banjo was a reptile or not. Most of us were, and he was talking to Yoshi a lot on the first day. If he trusted Yoshi, and if I wanted to align with Yoshi, why not include him too?"
"And then you decided not to include Ridley." Dedede pointed directly at the purple dragon's face. "Is it safe to say that Banjo took his spot at the time?"
"No, no!" The green crocodile waved his hands out. "With or without Banjo, I wanted Ridley to be in no matter what. But he was really distant and hardly talked to anyone. He would basically watch everyone, so I didn't know if he trusted me or not."
"The shelter being built was much more of a priority to me on the first day." Samus's canon arch-nemesis explained his side of the story. "None of us knew what was going to happen next, since our marooning was like no other. But I did have a feeling all twenty of us were going to stay together for at least twenty-four hours. So I felt it was best to put a roof over our heads as soon as possible. Though I would have accepted the deal of being part of the Reptile Runaways alliance, I never one hundred percent agreed on being part of… whatever this is supposed to be."
"It all sounds like childish, petty nonsense to me." The King of Gerudos finally gave his opinion on it. "Waste of my time, if anything. Yet even though your body language is saying you do not want any parts of what they are doing, I do not recall you ever outright telling them 'no.'"
And by the way, Ridley and Ganondorf actually made some kind of connection during the viewing of Heroes vs Villains. Ridley was in fact the only reason why Ganon even came to the reunion show party in the first place, due to the lord's convincing of the latter to show up.
"I will admit that my curiosity is getting the better of me." The Zebes native folded his arms. "It is why I am just sticking around to see what happens. However, since I was aware of what was going to be said to one another before the reunion show even started, I made myself perfectly clear to each of them to not attach my name to just anything. They can be as messy and childish as they want while I'll just sit in the background watching them all like fools."
"Me and you were great friends on the show, though." King Koopa wanted to make sure it was something he did not forget. "Therefore, you are loyal to me, and you are loyal to this real life alliance here. If one of us gets into a physical fight, you're going. …Or I at least know that you're going to have my back. Not saying there's going to be any actual fighting that would take place, but you get where I'm going with it."
Harshly rolling his eyes, Ridley rested his head in the palm of his right hand. "Fine. But whatever mischief you find yourself doing, I'm staying as far away as possible if it saves me from being a part of it."
Alright, everybody. It was time for the contestants to leave and go home.
The reunion show in general was a success. Each and every last contestant from season five had the chance to speak, and all seventy-eight contestants attended the afterparty where people seemed to get along. It was important to cherish the moment while it lasted though, since it was almost certainly the last time most of the former contestants were going to be seen together for a little while.
To not be bombarded by fans, everyone was ordered to leave through the back door (which was of course a restricted area guarded by security). And due to people already separating to head back to their specific parking garage, folks were already saying their final goodbyes to one another for the time being.
For Isabelle Cosgrove, Golden Fredbear, and Freddy Fazbear, the three of them were parked in the same garage. So that meant just a little more time together.
Oh, and the Villager as well as Freddy's younger brother, Rodriguez (Toy Freddy) were loved ones that were also with them. Kevin 'Springtrap' Davis was in the middle of a conversation with Golden though, so he was tagging along in the meantime.
"So you both are going to my house this weekend, right?" The rabbit had both of his arms around Golden and Freddy's shoulders. "We're going to have a lot to talk about here. Rodriguez, you're open to come too."
"That's fine, I suppose." And by the way, Toy Freddy did actually make a cameo appearance in Freddy's Ponderosa chapter due to the former contestant just missing out on the loved ones visit.
"I suppose you and the others could keep us informed of what's going on if you know what I mean." Freddy mentioned. And based on Springtrap's laugh in reaction, it was pretty clear he knew what he was referring to.
"I'll be glad to tell you all there is to know when you guys come over." Giving each of the pairs a big slap on the back, he felt it was time to leave. "We'll see each other then!"
With Fazbear watching Kevin heading back towards Val and Foxy, he faced the people he was with once again.
"He may be an ordinary guy on the surface, but there's clearly a lot more to explore with that guy. And I think he himself knows that."
Fredbear chuckled in agreement. "Guess that's what happens when you get to know someone. There's a lot more depth than what meets the eye, and that's the most exciting part about people."
Freddy then turned to Isabelle and the Villager. "So I suppose it's simply back to work for the two of you when you both make it back to the town."
"Yes, just getting back to work as normal. You could say that it'd be almost as if it never happened, but I know the townsfolk are going to ask Adam and I quite a few questions." According to Isabelle, Adam was going to be the name of the villager in this universe.
"I suppose the same can be said for you as well." The boy figured Freddy was going to get a similar response. The three of them together likely bonded over being in charge of things. "Well you're used to being well known where you live, you kind of have the feeling of what to expect."
"I'll say." The anthropomorphic bear nodded in response. "I guess it's for the best, though. Makes you prepared for whatever comes your way. If there's one thing I can put here, being caught off guard is the most awkward position you can find yourself in. …But anyway, I suppose we can all say that this is an experience none of us are ever going to forget. It is something that has impacted our lives in some sort of way."
"Hopefully you get your second chance someday, Fred. You deserve it." Golden should have had his fingers crossed if that was actually going to happen. "You were briefly considered after season two, but for only a short period."
"I concluded that production felt it was not the right time to bring me back yet. After all, the cast was pretty stacked. Panther, Ken, and Lucario not being back on for season five shocked the fanbase the most. …What about you, Iz? You're gonna go down as a legend assuming the show is gonna last for a long time (hopefully). You think they'll bring you back for a special kind of season or something?"
"I honestly don't really care at this point." She heaved a sigh, while interestingly keeping her smile. "I was already half-expecting to not really do much this season. Now I feel like every time I do come back, I am always going to be voted out first. It makes me further appreciate how fortunate I was to survive my first Tribal Council back in Mexico. Literally if Golden, Funky, and Espio chose to keep Jimmy in over me, the entire season would have been much different if I was the first person voted out of the tribe."
"And now, we're friends for life." Golden was indeed pleased to say that.
"We sure are. But really, I've already won and I honestly don't expect to go far in the game ever again, even if there was an all winners season." Damn… That was how low her expectations were moving forward. "It is pointless to go through all that paperwork only for me to not perform well. That's why when I started to have the feeling that I was a goner, I decided to make the most of it. All I can do here is to continue to live my best life back at home and cherish every moment I had during the time I was on the show. I bet ten years from now, I'm gonna end up being interviewed talking about my best moments from my winning season."
Hotel Delfino was one of the levels in Super Mario Sunshine. Though in this series, it was not exclusive to just Island Delfino. Hotel Delfino was a major brand, and there were quite a few locations in the world. This one in particular was where certain castaways and their loved ones were staying at.
Plague Knight was one of them, as he and his partner Mona (one of the upcoming contestants for the next Survivor season) were at the lobby having a conversation with Survivor's most recent winner, Wolf O'Donnell, and one of his best buddies, Panther Caroso. …Why were the two of them named after their own species? Only their parents were to blame for having literally no taste whatsoever. How embarrassing. What if Link or Marth were named 'Human?'
"So what do you guys think everyone else is doing?" said the anthropomorphic feline. "You think they all have reached the airport by now?"
"Probably so." Plague Knight replied, folding his arms. "You basically answered your own question."
"Okay, then I'll ask another one." Hahaha! "Where are Yoshi and his pal Rex? I heard they were staying at the same hotel as we are."
"While you left for your bathroom break, they went ahead and went back to their room." Wolf answered. "Yoshi looked to be rather tired and a bit overwhelmed. He probably needed some space and I wouldn't be surprised if he's venting to Rex right now."
Aww. Poor guy.
"Hopefully he'll be fine by tomorrow morning for our interview on Good Morning America."
Good Morning America? Umm, the city of Los Angeles was where the characters were and GMA was filmed in New York.
But to break the fourth wall, a certain someone decided to have GMA be filmed in LA. In other words, that person did not feel like giving a damn. At the end of the day, the mercenary wanted to make sure he was going to be okay before he went on universal television the next morning. It was all about putting on a pretty face for the cameras, right?
"Since we're all not going to leave the city until the day after tomorrow, I suppose maybe after the three of you get away from all the cameras, we should probably go out for brunch." Mona suggested. "It is not often for Plague and I here to come to a city like this, so I figure it would be best for us all to make the most of it."
"We could do that. That'll be a way to kill some time." Wolf mumbled under his breath, turning towards his right to see somebody getting ready to come through the doors. "Plague, you might want to head upstairs and get your beauty sleep to mentally prepare. There's a certain someone that I gotta talk to real quick."
As if on cue, the master alchemist yawned. "Alright, I suppose you're shewing us away for now. Come on Mona, my dear. It is getting pretty late, anyway."
"Sure." She turned on her heel as she and her boyfriend made their way towards the elevator. "We'll both see you and the others in the morning."
Okay, so with the two Shovel Knight characters being shoved to the side, the figure Wolf was eyeing came right in.
To give a hint of who it was, it was the main character of Wolf's own series who was a complete and utter failure in comparison to O'Donnell's success on the show.
…If there was any answer other than Fox McCloud, Jet the Hawk of all people might as well have been the main character of the Sonic games.
But seriously. Fox, though? What was he doing there? And Wolf was giving the impression that he was kind of expecting him to show up.
"Took you long enough." The one-eyed sole survivor of season five smirked.
"Don't start. Some fans happened to be around when we pulled up in the parking lot and wanted autographs." His 'we' referred to himself, his wife Krystal, his friend Falco Lombardi, and Falco's now girlfriend, Katt Monroe. "There were a couple of them that were wondering about you, so I told them that I'd let you know that they said hello."
But he did not tell them that he was literally in the lobby the whole time. Did Fox assume that the guy did not want to be bothered? If so, maybe in his eyes it was sort of a thoughtful move for him to make.
"Hmm…" Cocking his head to the side, Wolf curled his lips just a bit. "Protecting me of all people, aren't you? I would not have minded for them to see me."
"Well I didn't want to just force them your way, because I didn't know if you wanted privacy or not. I had a feeling they came around right after you went inside, since I was wondering how in the world didn't they notice you and the others."
"Okay, then. I appreciate the courtesy. Does that make you feel good?"
McCloud shook his head as an answer. "Me feeling good is not really the point here. Tonight was a big moment for you, and I was putting myself into your shoes. And also, I think you're a decent guy."
Aww. It was safe to say that whatever happened between the two anthropomorphic animals back in the Kodai Island days was long gone.
"I gotta hand it to you, Foxy." Good thing the red fox from FNAF was not around. Or else things would have been hella confusing for both foxes if they were there at the same time. "Aside from maybe Wii Fit Trainer, you were probably the one guy out there that was actually able to test my patience a little bit. Usually takes a lot out of me to lose my composure, and you were able to get on my everlasting nerves, all because of me not telling you about that damn idol."
Wait a minute. What did Panther have to say about any of this? He all of a sudden went awfully quiet. "Uh,... this is sort of rare for me to not find anything to add to this conversation. So I'm just gonna head upstairs. Hopefully I'm not called back down here because of you two trying to kill each other."
Watching Mr. Caroso leaving for the elevator, Wolf whipped his head around to quickly resume the talk with Fox. "I guess he sorta felt like the third wheel here."
"I suppose so. But anyway, I guess I was annoyed that I didn't know about the idol until you pulled it out at that tribal." And no, not Wolf's second idol that could have saved Bowser. There was another one that he found beforehand at the time that was actually used to save Bowser and send Samus home… for basically no real reason. Samus Aran really was the most screwed over contestant of all time. "But the reality was that nobody knew you had it. And you weren't even one of my closest allies, so I would have been the last person to know regardless. So, yeah. Not my best moment…"
"Aww. The poor pup made a mistake." Okay. If he was trying to make McCloud blush, he was most likely doing a good job at it. Krystal's husband was already feeling a tiny bit of embarrassment. "It's okay. I fu_ed up, too. Live and learn, right?"
"Well no matter what, I'm happy for you." With a friendly hand being put on his shoulder, Fox rotated himself around to head for the door. "Hopefully you don't get too many hard questions tomorrow."
"Oh, don't worry." O'Donnell gave the biggest grin ever. "If that happens, I'll give them answers so vague, they're gonna lead to absolutely nowhere."
Alright. So first things first, this epilogue was supposed to have three chapters, but there's only going to be two now. The part where the party was over and everybody was leaving was supposed to be a separate chapter in itself, but I didn't want that and the party scene to get too repetitive. So I basically combined both chapters into one. So the second and final chapter will be Plague Knight, Wolf, and Yoshi all being interviewed about their time on the show and everything.
The bit where all the kings were together? Some of you may have been familiar with my fic "Bow Before Your King", which I started to write sometime during Kodai Island's run, but eventually I stopped posting chapters for it. Would have been awesome if I kept going, but I was really starting to take my Survivor series seriously and I honestly have not been paying attention to what's been happening in the Smash communities for the past couple years. I may be really out of touch, so I just don't have the passion to continue it anymore (unless I gain a new interest in it somehow, but for now I don't see it happening). My apologies to the people that like it, but at least Bowser's going to be one of the main characters in my Survivor spinoff, "Cool Kids vs Reptile Runaways"... or "Reptile Runaways vs Cool Kids" depending on what sounds better.
Anyway, one more chapter to go here...
