"Luan!" Benny hollered from where she was sitting next to Shannon at the carnival. "There you are, I've been looking for you!"
The comedian glanced up from her treat and waved at her boyfriend as he approached her. He panted slightly but kept his hands behind his back. "You okay?" Luan asked him, her eyebrows furrowed together in concern.
Benny laughed lightly. "Yes, I'm just glad I found you! I lost you all at a booth back there. Still, I think it was worth it!"
"Well, go on," Luan urged him. "What was worth it?"
"This!" Benny brought forth three giant cat plushies: an orange cat with a white chin and chest, a white cat with brown patches, and a tuxedo cat. "I won them for you."
"For me?" Luan blinked in surprise before she smiled at the kitties and took them in her arms, the soft fabric almost felt like real fur.
A plop sounded next to them, drawing the attention to Shannon staring at the plushie in awe. At her feet, was an ice cream cone she was eating. "Where was this stand?" she asked and quickly ran off to where Benny pointed.
"She's going to be mad when she realizes I won the last cats," Benny muttered.
"We should probably run," Luan said with a small laugh.
Screams from nearby confirmed that they should, indeed, run. Benny grabbed Luan's hand and pulled her along quickly. Ducking between where Shannon seemed to be rampaging through the carnival. Finally, they were a distance from the chaos, overlooking one of the many lakes in the background. The moon shimmered upon its surface.
"So how many tickets did you use to win these?" Luan asked, hugging the cats close.
"All of them," Benny paused. "And then I had to use some grimm to win them. It would have been cheaper to just buy them off of tge internet, but well, I wanted to see you smile here and now."
The young comedian smiled up at him. "Well, it worked, you got what you wanted. Thank you, Benny."
Benny returned the expression of happiness, trying to memorize exactly how she looked. How her smile outshined the moon and stars flickering above them.
