A/N: Yeah, I recently got back into the Skylanders game series, and I've watched a little bit of the Skylanders Academy series, and I decided that I want to try again with writing a Skylanders Crossover. This time, I'm doing Avatar The Last Airbender. I hope that you guys and girls like this story, but as I haven't quite fleshed out how the story is going to progress, here's a prologue for you all. And I admit that I did try to write some Skylanders stories in the past, but they didn't really go anywhere. Mostly because I either lost interest in them, or I just didn't know how I wanted to progress those stories. Hopefully, those things don't happen to this story.
Disclaimer: I don't own Avatar The Last Airbender or Skylanders!

Prologue: Destruction of the Core of Light
Our story begins on a floating island where a great machine was guarded by a mystical warrior. This island was but a small speck in the infinite realm known as Skylands. And this warrior who lives on this island is one of the realm's greatest protectors. For generations, Skylands has been protected by the most powerful beings of all; the Portal Masters. And the greatest among them was Master Eon.
Eon is an elderly man who is dressed as a sorcerer. He has a long, white beard, pale skin, and blue eyes, and he wears long, blue robes with white trim, a dark blue helmet with upward curving horns on the sides, a dark blue sash decorated with the insignias of the eight elements of Skylands and carries a staff with a crystal orb mounted on the top. He smiled as two creatures, a purple and orange dragon named Spyro, and an orange imp with a crazy look in its face, walked out to the balcony where he had been watching a large, dome-like device that was shooting a continuous beam of light into the sky. These are two mighty creatures known as Skylanders.
Eon and his Skylanders protect a mystical device known as the Core of Light. For centuries, the Core of Light enriched the world, holding at bay the darkness, the ultimate force behind all evil. But Eon is the last Portal Master and growing weaker with age. He knew it was only a matter of time before the darkness would return.
And he was proven right as ominous clouds as black as smog began to roll in.
A creature that resembles a giant mole wearing a green coat and glasses frantically ran out while saying, "Ma-Master Eon, th-th-those clouds! Is something wrong?".
"Have you ever known dark, boiling, ominous clouds to be a good thing, Hugo?" Eon replied, getting a shake of the head from the mole.
They looked back up at the sky to see a flying castle slowly making its way towards their position.
Eon turned to Hugo and ordered, "Take your station, Hugo! Skylanders, the darkness has come! Prepare for battle!".
As Hugo ran back inside and dove into an underground bunker, all of Eon's Skylanders rushed out onto the balcony as a giant astral projection of a floating head appeared, cackling and speaking with exaggerated pronunciation of certain words.
In a deep, distorted voice, the head exclaimed, "Behold! It is I, Kaos! Long have I awaited this day to take my revenge! Soon, you will all bow down before me, Kaos! K, A, O, S!".
"Kaos, I might have known." said Eon before he stuttered as he asked, "And what happened to your head? It looks ridiculous."
"Heh? What?"
Within the castle, in a room lit with red light, Kaos was revealed to be a rather short man with a bald head with an odd insignia on his forehead, black markings over his red eyes, and three sharp teeth jutting out of his lower lip. He wore black robes that looked similar to Eon's.
"Eh? My head is awesome, I tell you! Fear it! FEAR MY GIANT FLOATING HEAD!" roared Kaos.
A tall goblin wearing brown overalls and holding a stone clipboard rolled his eyes and said, "See? I told you the head isn't scary enough.".
"Silence, Glumshanks, you're spoiling my evil mood." Kaos replied, getting another eye roll from the goblin.
Back outside of the castle, Kaos began to monologue using his giant astral projection.
"You thought you had banished me to the Outlands? I, Kaos, have returned to destroy the Core of Light, and rule Skylands as its emperor. And you are so old and weak now, Eon, There is nothing you can do about it." cackled Kaos.
"I've told you before, Kaos, you and the darkness have no power here." Eon declared.
"Oh, is that so?" asked Kaos in a sarcastic tone. "We'll just see about that! Minions!"
Suddenly, trolls and drow appeared on the island with the sole intent of destroying the Core of Light! But Eon was ready for them.
"Skylanders!"
With a growl, Spyro was the first to hop onto Eon's portal as he was teleported onto the battlefield. One by one, Eon's Skylanders were sent into battle and immediately began to fight to defend the Core of Light. Spyro rammed into several small cyclops' using his horns as a battering ram, sending them flying and disbursing them into energy orbs. A fishman known as Gillgrunt used his own high-pressure harpoon gun to shoot jets of water at drow soldiers while using his watery jetpack to dodge incoming attacks. One cyclops attempted to flee but was stopped by the land shark known as Terrafin who punched him into oblivion before jumping high and diving into the ground before proceeding to literally swim through the earth and mow down enemies with his dorsal fin before leaping out of the water and defeating several more by nailing them with a powerful belly flop!
Hugo peeked out from a hidden compartment only to get spooked and dive back in as a living tree known as Stump Smash charged by and flattened three cyclops using his wooden hammer arms. He grunted as he was hit in the back by an ax and turned around to see a small army of cyclops right behind him! They were about to charge when one of the largest was hit by a gold coin that was launched with the force of a bullet! That's when the imp from before, Trigger Happy, literally jumped into the fray and, using his golden pistols, thinned out the cyclops' numbers by shooting gold coins at them. He and Stump Smash shared a look before they started working together to defeat their enemies with Trigger Happy shooting his guns and Stump Smash vomiting giant acorns that hit with concussive force.
This seemed to do the trick before a pair of large, muscular drow charged at them. But Trigger Happy simply smirked and charged up before shooting a large golden safe from his guns that not only sent him flying backwards, but also destroyed one of the drow before Stump Smash did the same using a bigger acorn.
Back in the castle, Glumshanks was crunching the numbers.
"Okay, I've worked it out… we're losing." Glumshanks reported before suggesting, "Maybe we should go to Plan B?"
But Kaos simply said, "No, Glumshanks, I have a much better idea. Initiate… Plan C!"
Just when it seemed that victory was at hand for Eon and the Skylanders, a terrible beast appeared. One that made even Eon look on in fear and disbelief at the fact that Kaos had something like this in his army. And it had its sights set on one thing only.
"Not the core!" cried Eon.
A large shadow with four heads appeared over the core as several different roars could be heard from it.
Eon could only watch helplessly and shout, "NO!", before the worst thing happened.
The Core of Light exploded! Destroyed by the very monstrosity that Kaos had unleashed! And even if his castle was sent tumbling off into the distance, Kaos knew that he had won.
At least for now.
Even the Skylanders had been affected as they were all surrounded by orange energy fields and sent soaring off into the unknown. When the smoke cleared, Hugo rose up out of his hidden bunker and bore witness to the pure devastation that had been left behind.
"Um, Master Eon? Anyone?" Hugo called, his voice echoing through the now empty island.
That was the day the Core of Light was scattered to the far reaches of the universe, and Skylands lost its greatest protectors. But there is more to their story.
As the Skylanders were drawn farther and farther away from the magic of Skylands, they began to shrink! Until they reached a new world waiting for a worthy hero to find them. And Master Eon? He survived the blast but was changed. He became a spirit. Though, without his body, he can't fight Kaos and the darkness. But now, the time has come for the ascension of a new Portal Master!
***...To Be Continued…***
Ending A/N: And so, that's the end of this chapter. As you can see, things are looking pretty grim for Skylands now that Eon and the Skylanders are no longer around to protect them. But hope is not lost. For a new Portal Master will rise to defeat Kaos and drive back the darkness!
