Chapter 10- Magic Words~Emily

Emily drove to the cliffs that held so many memories of her life here. The life that was fake, broken, and apparently charity. The tears didn't just fall but the tsunami of sobs broke out racking through her almost lifeless frame. Yeah she was alive, but inside she died, except she felt it all. Slamming her fist into the steering wheel, she accidentally turned on the radio. Taylor Swift "Illicit Affairs" played, and in that moment Emily walked through every detail she could remember of Embry, but couldn't talk about it because the words were impossible to form.

And you wanna scream

Don't call me "kid"

Don't call me "baby"

Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me

You showed me colors you know I can't see with anyone else

Don't call me "kid"

Don't call me "baby"

Look at this idiotic fool that you made me

You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else

-Taylor Swift "Illicit Affairs"

It wasn't over yet but it was burned to the ground and she blamed herself. SHE did all of this, her sickness, the pain everyone had to suffer on her hands, the life she had, died with his words. He wasn't going to protect her like he promised. He wasn't going to love her his whole life anymore. He stolen her youth and crushed it instantly. The dreams of marriage, family, ever after dissipated as she watched them fly away faster as each minute passed. Living with vampires you see a lot, a lot that is attempted to be hidden from you, but you still see it. You've seen the Volturi and their lifestyle, but nothing, no one, was as deadly as what you just witnessed. The daggers of his words hurt deeper to a part of you that you were unaware existed. The hate he spit at you annihilated every emotion you had besides heartbreak, and that didn't go away as quick as the tears did.

Suddenly, she was oddly calm as in her tears stopped, but the crater of her heart was a throbbing hole to her core. The truth blurred the lines of Embry's lies. Driving over the fence and into the ocean was an option, one that seemed perfect at the moment. Emily was never one for the easy way, but dying where her family couldn't save her sounded perfect right about now.

Ringing trills cut off the music while Emily ignores the call from Alice. Instead, she throws the car in reverse and gets the heck out of La Push. The ability to control her mind and emotions fell with anxiety, anger, and panic, but it didn't matter in the distance away from her siblings. The future was wide open to Alice. She called right as Emily's future suddenly flashed then disappeared, but the call being ignored changed the future and brought Emily back. The familiar feeling of Emily shutting the link off herself came, but it came without the promise that she was okay.

Emily hit the highway before any of the vampires could follow her. Esme called and for some reason Emily answered. She didn't even have to speak and wasn't really planning on it if she could avoid it all. What could she say? The words were not there because she didn't understand any of it.

"Emily please tell us you are okay and didn't do anything stupid!" Esme went on until Carlisle grabbed the phone. "Whatever happened with you and Embry I support you doing what you have to. You have the credit card and the ability to do what you want as an adult, and I already let the shop know you wouldn't be returning with your health. Check in with us. Emmett is waiting at the city limits going south with medication and some personal things. Take him with you since he knows what to do. He will update me on you. We will talk when you get home. Promise me you will come home?" The tears started once she heard his voice. "You know I can't promise that. Don't ask me to. I love you, and tell mom none of this is her fault, it's mine."

Emily hung up when she finished speaking only to pull over at the sign saying you were leaving Forks. Emmett appeared from the trees, popped the trunk and dumped three small bags. Apparently all food and clothing was to be purchased, as well as traveling wherever. He handed you the passports and your medication, perfect timing as you needed some right about now as the adrenaline was wearing off. Taking the keys he carried you from the drivers side to the passenger seat. He kissed your forehead, looked into your eyes and said the most magical words at the moment- "So, where are we running to escape to tonight? You know what I will decide, you just ride along. Let's disappear for a long time, maybe forever."

And so you disappeared knowing Rose would meet up with you at some destination in the future, and Embry felt it with each mile you drove away to the point he was on his knees bawling that night at Sam and his imprint Emily's home, nothing that anyone could do to help but watch while there were no words to comfort him. He felt your pain, he replayed every single word he said back in his head, and he cried for the perfect love story he destroyed in a couple of minutes. Calls were left unreturned, messages came back undelivered, and the one way of getting intouch with your family was to walk on the vampire's land. He was sure they were kill him even being your imprint after hearing the news. They, however, didn't know and wouldn't find out until Emmett did. That moment would have to come far down the line if Emily lived that long.

As the car pulled over at the Seattle airport for Rose to hop in, you left the state, and eventually the country and continent. No matter what you saw or things you did, your heart bled steadily even while holding your brother's hand. Even when you slept he or Rose never let you go. For that, you would be forever grateful that these two angels were always on your side.
