Modern Day Legend of a Rage-filled Anchor: Throuple
Chidori and Yuuhi were blessed with twins, a pair of boys.
Shinji, Rei and Asuka were happy for them as they returned home after leaving the hospital; from what Yuuhi had told them all, their sons were born at the same time.
"Yikes," Asuka utters as Shinji unlocks the front door.
"What's wrong, Asuka?" He asks her as he notices her hands on her swollen belly.
"What Yuuhi said about the twins being born at the same time… He never elaborated on how…and I imagined a painful possibility."
He turns on the light and lets her and Rei step in first.
"You think Chidori screamed her lungs out as her sons fought each other to be born first?" Shinji wonders as he steps in last and closes the door.
"More or less," Asuka replies.
"Urgh!" Rei shudders as she slips out of her sandals and takes off her coat to put on the coat rack. "That's just painful to envision happening. Some things are just better left to the imagination. And that's just from having twins."
Shinji had to fight back the urge to shudder at the very delusion of Asuka and Rei having twins. Of course, all three of them had to be mindful of that two of them were doing everything necessary for two new residents they were waiting for. After learning of the twins, Asuka and Rei just wanted a third opinion and got a late-term sonogram, which confirmed that there would be no surprises they weren't prepared for.
"Whichever way the pendulum swings," Shinji assures them, "two will be fine for the three of us. My mother would probably freak if we did have four."
"Maybe later," Asuka suggests as she removes her coat, "like…maybe eight years later."
"Eight? Will we even be alive, then?" Rei questions as she walks into the living room and slowly sits down on one of the floor mats. "Eh. Family."
Asuka sat down across from Rei as Shinji goes to the kitchen and prepares tea for the three of them. Then, for just a moment as he stood in front of the kettle on the stove, Shinji reflected upon the past that he has here in this world he came to call his home, complete with its quirks, its flaws, both ugly and beautiful, and knows that, despite coming from a previous past full of pain that was the result of his parents making some terrible decisions that didn't have anyone's best interests, or had been committed with the actual best of intentions, he now had a past that made up for it all, and a present and future that he was content with living in. Looking at his reflection in a small mirror, his interlocked irises in his eyes, the only proof that he possesses two souls merged into one, he smiles as he can still see the world with hope, something he had very little of before the Twelfth Angel incident that led to his displacement here in the beginning. The mundaneness of a regular life, his reward after settling the immediate difficulties caused by Second Impact in his previous world, and he was forever grateful for the simplicity he gets to experience every time he wakes up to the next day. He reaches for the variety box of herbal tea packets and sets it on the tray with the empty cups.
"Tea's about ready, you two," he tells his wives as he sets the kettle on the tray and carries it to the living room. "Huh?"
The living room was empty, with no sign of Asuka or Rei.
"Where did those two waddle off to?" He wonders as he looks down at the conversation pit where he last saw them. "Asuka? Rei?"
"We're upstairs, Shinji," he hears Rei call out to him, and he chuckles as he takes the tray upstairs, wondering what his mother and grandmother were thinking of his commitment to these two he gave his heart to.
It had only been five months after he turned eighteen that he ascended to the position of patriarch of the Ikari family, being the only male member currently alive (something he would have likely never heard the end of in his mind), that Yui told him to expand the house to accommodate more people in the future. So, he had two new homes built right next to the primary home, sort of forming a triquetra of sorts; all three houses were positioned around the expansive backyard beside the beach, almost forming a compound of houses. Going up the stairs, Shinji notices that one of Asuka's stockings was discarded on the floor leading to their bedroom…just a foot away from one of Rei's socks.
"Are you two feeling well?" He asks them as he walks past the discarded footwear, finding their other halves just outside the half-opened door.
"Oh, we're feeling fine, Shinji," he hears Asuka reply to him as he uses his right foot to slide the door open.
"You discarded your stockings and socks on the way in here. Am I to assume that… Oh, my."
The two expectant mothers were on their futons, reclining and looking at their husband with loving eyes and pleasant smiles. While Asuka, on the right of Shinji, was dressed in her conservative turquoise dress, Rei, on his left, was dressed in a lavender yukata that was opened at the top so that it showed the top curves of her breasts.
"Are you two sore?" Shinji asks them.
"Well, we can't lay on our backs so much," went Asuka, "and we can't lay on our fronts without protests, so, yes, we're sore, Shinji."
"We need a massage," Rei adds, waving her hair that had grown considerably in the last decade, transitioning from the pageboy look to a shoulder-length variation, and then she lays down on her right side, cradling her belly in her hand. "Could you please give us a massage?"
Shinji chuckles as he sets the tray down beside Asuka's futon; tea could wait.
"Alright," he utters as he gets down to his knees beside Rei's back. "Let's see if we can relieve you two of your soreness."
He places his hands on her bare shoulders and feels how tense they are.
"Wow, Rei, you're…really tense in your shoulders," he tells her.
"And I really thought it was just in my head," she responds, laying her head down as she becomes more akin to a wad of putty as Shinji massages her shoulders and back. "Wah…ooh… Oh, yeah… I am…sky blue-haired jelly."
She rolls over onto her left side, allowing him to massage her right shoulder better. The next thing any of them knew, the bluenette fell asleep in front of her husband and sister.
"Whoa," went Asuka, "I guess she really needs the rest."
Shinji gently turns Rei onto her back and sits beside her and Asuka.
"She gets tired more than you," Shinji tells her, and chuckles. "How about you?"
"I'm tired, Shinji, but too tired to doze off. And it's winter. Everyone's near a portable heater or kotatsu if they're not bundled up."
Asuka then turns around and pulls the strands of her hair over her shoulder, showing her back to Shinji. He didn't need to be told twice what she requested from him, and he came over and placed his hands on her back, massaging her shoulders.
"Ohh…oh, yeah. I need this," he hears her say, feeling the tension alleviate in her muscles.
"Wow…you two are…very tense in your shoulders," Shinji tells her. "I can't believe I didn't notice anything."
"We don't broadcast, Shinji. At least not in public, that is. How about you, though? Aren't you ever tense?"
"I cope with tension in a different way," he tells her as he moves his hands down to her sides. "You two should just sleep in tomorrow."
"Except we get restless when we're on bed rest for too long."
"Not for the whole day, though. Just several hours at a time."
Asuka then turns over so that she's on her back and looks up at him, her arms extended away from her sides.
"You seem like you have something on your mind," she says. "Care to share?"
"You remember that bad dream I had that I told you about?" He asks her. "Where I see someone that looks like me from ten years ago, except his hair was prematurely white and his eyes prematurely wrinkled and looking like he hadn't gotten much sleep?"
"I do."
"Sometimes, I wonder a little more about the fact that there exists multiple dimensions, alternate realities…and different versions of ourselves…and how we might've turned out. I know the possibilities are without question and end…but whenever I see that young man that is…irrecoverably broken…I wonder if he's not the only one out there in such a state, whether or not there are others like him, broken and alone."
"The worst dream relating to the fact that the multiverse exists that I had was six years ago. I saw an alternate of myself that walked a path of loneliness. She pushed everyone away…and her only companion was this red giant with four eyes and a bident made of twisted metal, someone she couldn't push away because it was just a reflection of herself in all her negativity in a world left in ruins. Maybe she's similar to him."
She reaches over for his left hand and places it on her chest, over her right breast.
Shinji notices that, while her breasts were slightly larger due to her pregnancy, it feels like Asuka was forced to wear extra weight on her chest in addition to carrying a baby inside her.
"How is here?" He asks her, referring to her breasts.
"Heh. It feels like I'm carrying three bags of groceries, except two of them are heavier than the third, which is only less than ten pounds."
"Well, that's terrible. We should go see a doctor to make sure you're okay."
"Yeah…or…you could massage them for me."
"And if I cause you to scream in agony?"
"Well, I can't get mad at you for something that is trivial."
"Believe me, Asuka, with me, nothing can be trivial, including the trivial."
Shinji slowly, carefully, pulls down the sleeves of Asuka's dress, exposing her shoulders and her enlarged breasts; after they started getting bigger, the redhead felt she couldn't wear a bra without feeling sore every time she removed it, so she went without one for the rest of her pregnancy. Then, he places his hands atop them, slowly flexing his fingers on the soft flesh.
"How does this feel?" He asks her.
"Ohhh…" She shudders. "Like the slightest change in pressure will make me pop. But it feels really good."
But to Shinji, her milk-swollen breasts feel like water balloons; if he moves his hands in any way that was too heavy, he feels he could cause them to explode. The skin was still soft, but they because they were heavy with milk, they look as though they were water balloons made with a thin material that couldn't withstand the pressure. And then, he feels a pair of hands on his back, followed by something larger than a hand, rubbing up and down against him.
"How long was I asleep?" They hear Rei's voice.
"Barely six minutes," he tells her.
"I hope you two weren't doing anything without me."
"Now, why would we do that?" Asuka asks.
Rei looks at her from around Shinji's right shoulder and places her right hand atop his, which is over Asuka's left breast.
"Aah!" Asuka gasps, feeling a slight pressure increase. "Rei…"
"Just relax," she tells her sister, flexing her fingers across her boob, slightly more than Shinji was. "You're so tense right here."
"Not tense, just sore."
"Same difference."
"Oh, really?" Shinji questions.
"Yes, to the man that got us both pregnant. I just happened to alleviate my own soreness there early on."
"Oh, you did, did you?" Asuka says, feeling like her breast was going to pop at any moment now. "Aah…"
"It feels like a tugging sensation now, but it'll ease up after a threshold is crossed."
"You know about thresholds?" Shinji asks her.
"I have a slight touch of sadomasochism, familiarizing myself to pain and pleasure. I don't enjoy pain, but I have to endure it if I am to achieve some pleasure. Pregnancy is no different; there is pain and pleasure throughout the passing months. Go ahead, Shinji, squeeze her right boob."
"I can't, Rei."
"Why not?"
"Asuka didn't give me permission to."
"Do you really need permission?" Asuka questions her husband.
"As tempting as it is, I'm not going to do something to cause either of you unwanted discomfort while you're in such a delicate state."
Asuka then reaches for Shinji's left hand and places it on her right breast.
"I permit you to squeeze me, Shinji," she tells him, and feels his hand close slightly around her bosom. "Aah…aaah! Does it feel good for you, Shinji?"
"Does it feel good for you?" He counters her.
"Oh, yes."
"It feels good, then."
"Aaah…" Asuka gasps, closing her eyes as she feels a tightness in her nipples and a following relief as something warm and fluidic flows out across them. "Aah…"
"How do you feel now, Asuka?" Rei asks her.
"Like my tension has been relieved."
"Yeah, that's how it is when you start to lactate…though, I didn't expect you to squirt a little."
Asuka opens her eyes…and sees that her milk got on Shinji's face.
"Sorry about that, Shinji," she apologizes, but he waves it off.
"It's only a little milk," he says with a smile.

"Oh," went Aya as she rises up from her and Toya's futon at night, placing a hand on her belly. "It kicked again."
Toya raises his right hand and feels their child kick, smiling at her.

Chidori awoke from her slumber several hours later, seeing Yuuhi sitting beside her on her left. Looking out the window nearby, it was still dark out…and snowing now. It must've been five or six hours since she delivered their twins, and it was still hours away from morning, but with the heavy snow clouds, all of the country would still be facing several days of the equivalent of polar night. And it wasn't Christmas yet, either. But she and her husband had already gotten their most important Christas gift.
"Is that chair uncomfortable?" She asks Yuuhi, stirring him from slumber.
"Just a little bit," he replies, and she scoots over some. "I think there's a rule prohibiting what you're doing?"
"In this town?"
Yuuhi couldn't fight against her and got up to join her in the hospital bed.
"Where are our sons?" She asks him.
"In the maternity ward," he answers. "They're really beautiful. I know a lot of people say that, but…our boys are really beautiful."
"Yes, they are."
Chidori snuggles against his chest and goes back to sleep.

It must've been after seven, but because of the dark clouds outside, it still resembled nighttime outside the Ikari house. And despite this, the young throuple continued to sleep peacefully in their futons.
Asuka slowly stirs from slumber on the left side of Shinji's chest and looks out the window at the cloudy skies above the town; despite the heavy snowfall that affected other parts of the country, the roads and sidewalks of Magatama Town were barely covered in an inch of snow.
Rei opens her eyes on the right side of Shinji's chest and looks at her.
"Now, what could be outside that has your attention?" She asks her, getting her attention.
"Just the awe of how the morning resembles night," Asuka informs her.
"We should probably get up…except I don't want to right now."
"Me, either."
Asuka lays her head back down and tries to fall asleep, and Rei does the same.
Grumble! Both expectant mothers open their eyes to the sound of a growling; it was breakfast time, and the babies were hungry.
"Well, we can't ignore this," Rei expresses, and Shinji sighs as he gets up.
"Any specialties, my ladies?" He asks them.
"Chocolate chip pancakes," Asuka requests.
"Sausage," Rei adds in, "with peanut butter and jelly."
"You got it."
Shinji leaves the bedroom to go downstairs to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
"Why do I feel like we're the luckiest pair of girls to be with Shinji?" Rei asks Asuka.
"Because we are," Asuka answers her. "We met someone that we feel strongly towards…and reciprocated those feelings. Still, we're the only throuple in town, so that's how much we stand out right now. We're both married to the same guy, but we're all equally committed to each other in the long run."
"But…doesn't it make you wonder, though?"
"Wonder, what?"
"Why Shinji doesn't have a fetish or kink to him."
Asuka looks at her sister like she said something ridiculous.
"What? You know I'm right."
And Rei was right; in the years since the issue with the celestial maidens and Shinji's suicide, universal displacement, murder, spiritual fusion and resurrection, both girls have been intimate with Shinji's background to know that he didn't have so much as one kink. Not even so much as last night before they went to bed together did Shinji actually express to having an interest in fondling their breasts after helping Asuka alleviate her pain by lactating and releasing her milk. Though, Rei, simply because she admitted to it, had listed her kinks to include fondling and cosplay, while Asuka listed her kink as cosplay every once in a while.
"Well, Shinji is just the perfect gentlemen," Asuka states. "He loves us both and doesn't want to hurt us. He knows that if he crosses that line, there's no taking it back. He would have to live with that regret."
Meanwhile, downstairs in the kitchen, Shinji begins cooking the requested pancakes after sizzling the sausages. But for some reason, he could still taste Asuka's breast milk on his lips.
"Those two," he chuckles as he flips a pancake over. "I can't get the taste out of my mouth."
Neither that…or the fact that he drank from both their breasts last night. As he finishes preparing breakfast, including miso soup for the three of them, Shinji carries the food upstairs.
"Sorry I took so long, you two," he tells them as he slides open the door to their room. "I made some miso soup and hash browns to go with the pancakes and sausages, so we should… Okay, what are you two doing?"
Asuka and Rei, standing over by the closet, were caught in an indecent state by their husband, half-dressed in some old clothes they had from long ago.
"We've been caught red-handed," Rei utters, her hands holding onto her skirt that was halfway up her legs.
"Just seeing if we could still fit into our old uniforms, Shinji," Asuka explains, trying to close up her shirt. "I'm a little embarrassed to say that this shirt is a little tight."
"Cosplaying aside, I doubt that either of you can wear those shirts unless they're open at the bottom, alleviating the tightness due to your pregnancies."
"Yes, that's true," Rei admits, looking at Asuka. "We can't wear them unless they're open at the bottom, and we can't blame the babies. It's not really their fault."
"But if it's any consolation," Shinji feels the need to let them know, "you both look good right now. I mean, I'm surprised that you still kept those uniforms and tried them on, but you look like you're just having fun dressing up."
Asuka and Rei look at each other and then back at Shinji, giggling.
"Thank you, Shinji," they tell him.
They sat down on their futons and began to eat breakfast.

"It's crazy weather right now," Yui expresses to her mother as she looks outside the kitchen winders. "The snow and clouds are so thick that it makes it seem like it's still nighttime instead of daytime."
"It's not all that different from the polar nights of the poles, Yui," Anzu tells her as she puts down her coffee cup. "Heavy snow simulates polar nights due to the intense cold. It'll clear up in a few days. Besides, it's the winter season. Snow is beautiful when it falls from the sky."
As Yui sits down, the woman looks out at the other house on the other side of the backyard, wondering how Shinji, Asuka and Rei were handling the snowbound period.
"How do you think they're doing this morning?" She asks Anzu.
"Knowing those three," she replies, "they're probably making the best of it. Probably bundled up by their kotatsu or enjoying a hot bath or warm tea."
"Or fooling around," Yui jokes a little, which makes Anzu nearly choke on her coffee.
"Or that," she gives. "Either way, let them enjoy the time they have together. It's only a matter of time before they have to get ready for the new arrivals. I can see you're not so subtle due to disliking the feeling of being confined to one place over such a long duration."
"I'm just not good with being snowbound."
"You're the same when the ocean is fogbound because you can't see anything."
"I'm pretty sure Raijū would agree with you."
Yui turns around to see the former fight dog laying beside a wall, asleep and reminding the women that he was a frequent visitor and guest of theirs. Unlike Yui, however, Raijū wasn't restless when it came to being temporarily confined to one place or another. In fact, he was the opposite, content with it, and mostly due to not having to have to fight for anything.
"I need another cup of coffee," Yui gives in, and Anzu picks up the pot and pours her daughter another refill.

Sleeping in. Not something they normally did, but since there was nothing else to do today, Shinji, Asuka and Rei decide to make the best of the time they had and just lay down.
"I never realized how quiet it is when it's like this," Rei realizes as they lay in their futons, with their eyes either closed or looking up at the painting of a forest path on their ceiling.
"It's very peaceful," Asuka says, though slightly annoyed by just one aspect of this sleeping arrangement, and that was laying on her side instead of her back. "What of you, Shinji?"
"I'd take this over an alarm clock any time," Shinji tells them, his eyes closed like Asuka's.
"What do you see when you look up at the ceiling, Rei?" Asuka asks.
"Besides the forest path? I see the beach…and our favorite tree."
"Beautiful," Shinji praises, and both women place their arms atop his chest.
The next thing they knew, just outside their bedroom window, it started snowing across town again, covering Magatama Town in varying layers of snow. Even with the lights off, there was still the light outside by the cloudy skies.
A considerable amount of time must've passed, because Rei got up and walked towards the door.
"Rei?" Asuka asks as she sees her sister leaving their room. "Where you going?"
"I gotta go," she replies, keeping it simple as she heads to the bathroom.
"Oh…"
Shinji opens his eyes and takes notice of Rei leaving out the room.
"Worrying about her, Asuka?" He asks.
"Well, she's my sister, so, of course, I worry about her," Asuka answers him, "just as I worry about you or myself."
"I can't tell you not to. We're in uncharted territory."
"And you don't want to know what is likely to happen?"
"Give someone the ability to foreseen events before they occur, they may live in fear of the future. But let them try to prevent the darkest days yet to come from ever coming…and they may not have such a fear beyond tomorrow."
"You prevented a lot of grief from befalling people ten years ago."
"All I did was tell people what I saw. I told them…but they're the ones that made it so that they didn't happen. There's no 'we' in 'me' or 'I' in 'us'."
Asuka then takes his left hand and places it on her bump.
"There is an 'I' in 'family'," she reminds him as she feels the baby kick again.
He chuckles as he smiles.
A few minutes later, Rei returns and lays down on Shinji's right side and goes back to sleep.

It was the day before Christmas, and most of the town of Magatama was getting some last-minute shopping done. But at the hospital, Shinji was in the waiting room with his mother and grandmother, along with Toya, Aki, and Raijū. It was late in the evening when Asuka, Rei, Aya and even Misato had all started to experience labor pains and had to be rushed over to the hospital. They were able to get in contact with Misato's husband, who was on his way back from a business trip, but he wasn't likely to get back until tomorrow.
"Grrr," Raijū growls at Shinji.
"Probably after midnight," he says to the dog.
"Grr."
"It's been known to happen."
"How can you understand Raijū?" Aki questions.
"Read his tones."
"It's two minutes to midnight," Yui informs the men. "Not exactly how I expected us to spend Christmas this year."
"None of us expected today to be like this, Mother," Shinji tells her.
"How'd you six end up coming here today?" Toya asks, including Raijū, since the dog was with the Ikaris.
"These three were just sleeping in," Anzu states, "embracing their inner sloths."
"Inner sloths?"
Unfortunately, in the last ten years, while Toya had the life of a regular person and was no longer an organism simply created by a hagoromo, he didn't have the slightest clue on simple jokes or metaphors. Still, he understood enough about things to get through life with Aya after the Ceres situation was resolved.
"Asuka, Rei and I were simply being lazy," Shinji explains more thoroughly. "It's not a crime to be lazy…so long as it's not done all the time."
"That makes sense," Toya responds. "Aya and I were doing the same."
Yui looks at her watch, sees that it's already three minutes past twelve, and smiles.
"It's after midnight," she tells them all. "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas," Anzu says, and a nurse steps into the room.
"Toya Mikage," she calls for, and Toya stands up, just as another nurse steps in.
"Is there anyone for Misato Katsuragi here?" He asks, understanding that the woman's husband was not here, and then Aki stands up.
"We're all here for Misato Katsuragi, sir," he explains, and then a second female nurse comes into the room.
"Shinji Ikari," she calls up, and Shinji stands up. "Merry Christmas to the new father."

Asuka wakes up from what feels like the aftermath of running a marathon combined with swimming in a gigantic pool, feeling sore from the waist down.
"Rise and shine, Mama," she hears Shinji's voice and turns to her right to see him sitting over by the window. "How do you feel?"
"Like a rag doll," she answers him. "How long was I asleep?"
"All night," she hears Rei's voice, and looks over to her left, seeing her sister laying up in another bed, looking just as exhausted as she. "And just so you know, I felt like a small part of me was going to die through the whole ordeal. I didn't expect it to hurt that much."
"It was your first pregnancy, Rei, the same as me. But yeah, it hurt for me, too. Who do you think we have to blame for putting us in that uncomfortable position?"
Both women look at Shinji, who lowers his head.
"It's hardly Shinji's fault," Rei says as she lays her head back. "I mean, yes, it was his fault, but he's not entirely at fault. We're also responsible…and the kami…and Mother Nature."
"Huh?" Asuka reacts; it was mostly Rei's inclusion of the kami and nature.
"Heh, it takes two to tango, even in a throuple, and the kami are at fault for creating the universe…and Mother Nature makes drawbacks in evolution."
"Ouch," Shinji expresses.
"Still, the end result was worth it all, right? I mean…look at us now. We're parents."
Asuka looks at the space in between herself and Rei, noticing the two bassinets present, each holding a sleeping baby inside. The child close to Rei's was sporting strands of blue hair like hers, while the child beside Asuka had strands of dark hair, just like their father.
"Just one question, Shinji," Asuka says to the new father. "I know that Misato and Aya were also in delivery, so which of us was first?"
"From what I heard from Aki," Shinji lets his wives know, "Misato was first, followed by Aya, then Rei and you in that order."
In that order, Misato gave birth first, followed by Aya, then Rei and ending with Asuka. But overall, they were all delivered past midnight, which meant their birthdays were the same day as Christmas. And what a happy Christmas it was for them.
-x-
Misato awakens to the presence of her husband in the room beside her and looks up at him, noticing that he found the time to shave his beard and sideburns.
"Welcome home, dear," she greets him, a little worn out.
Her husband, as she had seen from Shinji's recollection of his own past, was a dead ringer of her alternate counterpart's old flame, albeit less likely to keep secrets and more responsible, and the only other difference between the two was that this man was two years younger than her, which means he had been in school or elsewhere around the time she was held captive by Mikage International during the C-Genome project. It was also a surprise to know that he was a descendant of the guy that built the hospital her grandmother had been recovering in, and he was a little embarrassed when people picked up on that.
"My great-great-grandfather had originally built the place to house and treat the victims of war," he once explained how the hospital eventually transitioned to being expanded to caring for people other than those victimized by war, "but then, those in simple car accidents, those whose hospitals were too far to get to, and even that simply couldn't travel far. I'm never sure he would approve of how the place changed so much over the years, but since he had been a victim of warfare, he didn't want to live the remainder of his life being selfish."
"It's good to be home, Misato," he tells her, smiling.
-x-
Aya awakens to see Toya cradling their baby in his arms.
"Merry Christmas, my love," she says to him.
"Merry Christmas, Aya," he replies.
-x-
"…Do you ever wonder about it?" Yui hears Anzu say behind her as she watches Shinji with Asuka and Rei on the rooftop garden, looking out at the snow-covered afternoon as the sun was out.
"Wonder about what?" She asks her mother.
"How we got here…and where we could've gone?"
"Heh, not as much as I used to. Yeah, I did a lot of things wrong in the past, but I didn't expect to learn the hard way after my father died, and then learning the error of my ways years later. Even so, if I could change one thing, it would still be not letting him to go to prison over my rotten taste in men. But Shinji over there… He remains to this day…the one good thing I ever did right. My one hope is that he does things right with his kids when they get older."
Anzu looks over at the throuple sitting on the bench and sighs.
"They'll be fine," she tells her daughter, "and I say that not because he has two souls in the same body…but because he has people in his life that actually want him around…and because he has a good mother. I just need to know one thing now."
"Which is?"
Anzu looks at Yui and asks, "Do I old enough to be considered a great-grandmother?"
"You're fine," Yui tells her. "Do I look like I have the grandmother vibe?"
"Honestly…not yet…but eventually."
"I thought so."
They see Shinji to face them…and Asuka and Rei turn a second after…and gesture for them to come over and sit on the bench with them.
"What were you three talking about?" Yui asks them as she down on the left end of the bench.
"What to name the babies," Rei answers as Anzu sits down on the right end of the bench.
"And what did you decide on?" Anzu questions.
"Shinji and I picked the name Sōma," Rei explains, holding their son in her arms.
"And Shinji and I picked the name Nezuko," Asuka reveals, holding their daughter in her arms.
"Sōma and Nezuko," Yui expresses, looking at the two. "Nice to meet you two."
"You three do realize that when we get home," Anzu informs the new parents, "you're going to be in for some half-sleepless nights and irritability, right?"
"We know what we're getting into," Shinji responds, "and it comes with the rewards of having a family. Bring on the half-sleepless nights, the crankiness…and whatever else comes our way."
"Yeah, because at the end of the day…" Rei goes to say.
"They're worth it in the end," Asuka finishes.
And Shinji smiles a happy smile as he looks out at the world in front of them, once more at peace with his family with him.
And so, the Rage-filled Anchor…has been quelled for good, allowing for a new legend to be remembered by all
