Warrior Rising
Chapter 12 – Attack -Part 2
Spyro was eager to visit his cousins. After he, Xanthe, and Frisk defeated Slaygar the Greedy and claimed the reward for the quest, they flew to port town, Sea Haven. He beat his wings and kept himself aloft. The wind clawed at his face and filled the membranes of his wings, but he didn't mind. He loved the feeling of flying. For any dragon, flight was liberating and rewarding.
"It feels good to see my aunt, uncle, and cousins," he said aloud.
"Aye," Frisk shouted back. "Sea Haven is such a melting pot and a hotspot for conflict."
"I know they miss you," Xanthe said.
Spyro grinned at the thought. As the adventurers flew over the land, they neared the coastline. The air smelled of sea salt, foam, and sand. The docks, buildings, and ships shone under the warm sun. But as they neared the port town, Spyro noticed screams, shouts, and growls erupting. Anger began to fill him as he realized that the town was in turmoil.
Bandits and town guards fought each other in one of the plazas. Spyro beat his wings and angled himself in a descent. He aimed himself toward the fighting. I have to help! We have to help them!
"We're right behind you, Spyro," Frisk said. "Let's teach these bandits a lesson!"
Antony panted. He glared at Gravnak. The bandit leader regarded him with a cold smile. The dragon would not relent or surrender. This fight was difficult. Cuts and bruises marked Antony's body. Pain lingered from each wound, but he could not give up. He would not give up.
More town guards had joined him, Emile, and Oskar in the fighting. But the bandits were still holding their own and still stealing goods.
"Give it up, drake," Gravnak taunted. "You can't best me. You don't have the stones to kill me."
Antony bit his tongue and took a step forward. "I will stop you."
"Stop me? Ha! You couldn't stop a runaway wagon!"
Antony ignored the insult. Focusing on the fight, he watched Gravnak and growled. The elemental energy within his body welled up. It spread from his tail tip to his horns. Gravnak dashed toward Antony and launched a series of attacks, using his teeth and claws. Antony met each blow with his own, letting the electrical energy flow.
The fight lingered on as the guards and the bandits battled. In the midst of the fight, Antony noticed Kehlani watching him. Her eyes were wide and fearful. Seeing her expression made Antony pause. A paw slammed into his jaw from the left side. The blow sent him staggering, and he saw stars for several seconds.
"Stupid, drake! I'll teach you not to tangle with me!" Gravnak growled. The bandit leader turned his head toward Kehlani. Green elemental energy materialized. The elemental energy formed a sphere. At first it was small, but the green sphere enlarged three times its size. Antony shook his head. He dashed into the line of fire. Worry and fear for Kehlani filled him. He didn't want his friend hurt because of him. He had to protect her!
"I won't let you hurt, Kehlani!" Antony yelled.
Before Gravnak could fire his elemental attack, he grunted. A volley of fireballs struck his open maw. Gravnak staggered back and closed his mouth. A purple dragon landed between Gravnak and Antony. The purple dragon looked back at Antony, smiled, and dipped his head. The purple dragon looked strong and fierce. Golden spines toped his head and ran to his tail.
"Thanks for defending my cousin," the purple dragon said. "Let us help you."
"Us? Who are you?" Antony asked.
"Me. I'm Spryo, leader of the Blazing Trio. Fisk and Xanthe are my friends; they're with me."
A male dragon and a female dragon landed on either side of Spyro. Both looked at Antony before staring at Gravnak.
"T-Thank you, and I'm Antony," Antony said. "We have to stop these bandits."
"We will," Spyro said with a grin. "Together."
