Hours passed, and Luz felt her senses coming back to her. She moved her fingers and felt silky-soft skin under her tips. The human turned her head and felt the warmth of the morning sun. She frowned slightly and was glad that Amity closed the curtains at night. The memories from the previous evening suddenly flooded her brain.
"Holy Titan… I had sex with Amity," Luz realized, opening her eyes in panic.
She slightly lifted herself and eyed the other woman. The vision of Amity's memory flooded her mind, making her hold her breath. The witch was still sleeping soundly. The soft, calm expression rested on the Heiress's face, making Luz hopeful. Not even a single ear twitch could be seen, helping the human relax.
She removed herself from the naked body, earning a small groan from the witch. Luz froze mid-movement, unknowingly holding her breath. The human retreated to the bathroom when she was sure Amity was still asleep, resting from her turmoil.
After finishing her bathroom routine, Luz looked at herself in a tall mirror above the sink. She touched her scars, eyeing them with disgust before recalling how Amity kissed and adored her, giving compliments. The hazel-brown gaze traveled to the bruised neck, wearing marks of the witch's fangs.
"Titan, I hope it wasn't a mistake…" Despite loving every second of the previous night, Luz could not help but worry.
The beating she took was all worth it in her book. How the witch cared for her in more ways than just Healing was overwhelming. She dreaded the talk they had to have, but she knew she could not hide in the bathroom forever. She sighed and returned to bed, doing her best not to disturb the sleeping woman.
"Mmm…" Amity groaned, and her ears twitched sleepily. She sniffed and curled into Luz's warm body, following the citrusy scent and releasing a low purr, "Morning…" She muttered groggily, taking another whiff at the crook of the tan neck, earning a small smile from the human who pulled her into a warm embrace.
"Good morning to you, too," Luz whispered, placing a delicate kiss on the pale forehead, "Did you sleep well?" She asked, running her fingers through the lavender locks.
"Focus, Luz… She still doesn't remember you…" The human tried to reason with herself and calm her racing heart.
"I wouldn't call it sleep," Amity replied sleepily, and her purr died. Luz moved aside to look down at the witch in her arms, and their eyes met, "Iʼm just glad I didn't hurt you," She added and caressed the scarred cheek affectionately.
"You can't get rid of me that easily," Luz smirked, trying to lighten the mood.
Her expression faded when she saw the pain enter Amity's face. The witch's ears slanted anxiously, hiding deep underneath the lavender hair, and her golden eyes seemed void of positive emotion.
"What is it?" Luz asked worriedly, caressing the pale cheek reassuringly.
"I'm sorry I ever tried to get rid of you," Amity whispered breathily, her voice full of regret and fear, "I…" She was surprised to see a warm smile crack the full lips.
"I'm not going anywhere as long as you want me around," The human replied, worried about this bliss ending. Nonetheless, Luz was about to enjoy every moment life had given her with the woman she loved, "Don't worry about it," She added, pecking the pink lips.
"Mmm," Amity purred in surprise, "Don't leave," She pleaded when the human pulled away. The gold eyes roamed the hazel-brown ones longingly, "If… Um…" The witch hesitated, "I mean…" She bit her lower lip, alerting the other woman.
"Okay, what is it?" Luz pulled even further away to look at Amity, trying to understand what was happening.
"I wouldn't want to push you into anything…" The witch whispered hesitantly, "And I know I'm damaged goods," She placed her hand on the human's lips to forbid Luz from interrupting. The human watched Amity's face with brows tied in disapproval.
"But… Um…" The witch was so nervous, "If you'd ever consider having a girlfriend…" Luz could not stop herself from smiling into Amity's palm, which still muffled her lips, "I mean, I wouldn't want to force you or intimidate you into anything…"
"Amity," Luz set her lips free and kissed the pale knuckles delicately, "I would love to be able to be your girlfriend…" She said, and her smile faded slightly, which was not missed.
"But?" Amityʼs voice quivered, and Luz recognized her fiancée's fear of rejection.
"There's always a but, huh?" Luz sighed deeply, laid back, and faced the ceiling, "One thing is that I don't want to take advantage of you," She turned her head and looked back at Amity, who watched her like a hawk, "The second thing is that you have to trust me when I say this: you're not the damaged goods around here," She continued, "And lastly…" She scratched her lower lip with her white-gold fang, and she could feel Amity's impatient gaze, "I mean," Luz turned to the side and hovered above the other woman, resting on her left elbow, helping the witch down to her pillow, "Are you, like, sure you want to be with a human?" She asked and watched the pale face, waiting for the realization that THE Amity Blight could never taint her family like that.
"Luz," The Heiress smiled sheepishly with a hint of mischievousness, "I understand what you have in mind, but I don't give a damn. If you want me to make an official statement that THE Blight Heiress is with the human, then so be it," She exclaimed, gesturing rapidly, making Luz giggle.
"And you dare call me a dork, Blight," Luz whispered and pecked the witch's cheek, "I just want you to be sure you are taking everything into consideration," Her expression faded, "I donʼt want to be a burden," She looked away, feeling ashamed of herself for the first time in years, "You know I have issues…" She could not say another word when Amity pulled her into a passionate yet chaste kiss and a strong hug.
"You do know my brain had been fried, and I don't really know anything about anything…" It was Amity's turn to face the ceiling as the human rested on the scarred chest.
The heavy silence filled the room. Luz watched the witch think everything through. The golden eyes stared into the void before her, making the human realize something must have happened.
"Iʼm not gonna reopen the Industries," Amity suddenly said, shocking Luz, "I can't…" She faced the window, looking away from the human, "Not after yesterday…"
"I'm sorry…"
"Please, don't apologize," Amity faced Luz and smiled warmly, "I have never been so happy and calm… Despite not being calm at all," A wide grin appeared, and the human could not control how she returned the expression, "But there's more," She added, and all her optimism faded.
"You recalled something?" Luz asked, pretending not to know, and the witch nodded, "Do you want to tell me?"
"I'm not sure I'm ready yet…" Amity replied in a guilt-ridden voice, "But let's just say that it changed everything for me," She added, and Luz smiled supportively.
"I'm here whenever you decide to share, okay?" She asked, and the witch returned the sentiment.
"Thank you, Luz," The pink lips met the darker ones, and Luz smiled into the affection.
They pulled back for a moment, and the human, in her excitement, placed her hand between mauve lavender locks and pulled Amity into another kiss, a more heated one. The witch reciprocated vigorously. She did not even realize when she straddled the human, who immediately felt the arousal of the other woman.
"Worth every Snail…" Philip's voice echoed through Amity's head, dragging her out of her excitement.
"NO!" The witch roared, pulling away as if she were burned.
Amity almost fell off the bed if not for Luz's quick reaction, securing her back on the mattress while giving her space. The golden eyes roamed the surroundings with panic, and the pointy ears twitched unevenly as the scarred chest expanded in shallow breaths.
"Amity…" The human watched how Amity tried to comprehend her surroundings, pulling herself from the painful visions. The slanted ears twitched while her eyes continued to move frantically, "Youʼre safe," She whispered, and the pointy ears froze before perking up.
"Luz?" The witch asked confusedly, "Oh, Titan, I'm so sorry…" She realized what had happened.
"Don't apologize," Luz smiled, "You don't have to say anything. Just let me know what you need," She added. Amity's eyes roamed the tan face, not believing how understanding the other woman was.
"I…" The witch sat up in bed and turned her back on Luz, "Iʼm sorry because I remembered my…" She sighed heavily, looking for the courage to be honest, "My real first time," She said and looked over her shoulder, back at Luz, "And it was bad…" She added in a voice so sinister Luz decided that now was not a time to pry and poke her brain.
"I'm sorry…"
"Yeah… Me too," Amity looked back at the floor in front of the bed, and she recalled the memories she had retrieved, "I think I now understand who my Mother was. It was just a cryberry on top of everything I found in the Catacombs," She continued, and Luz decided not to interrupt, seeing the witch needed to unload, "What confuses me is that before that memory, I think I have unblocked something else…" She added, looking back at Luz.
The human watched the Heiress hesitantly, not knowing what to do, wanting to help, and afraid of doing more harm. Amity moved away from the edge of the mattress and faced Luz. Their eyes connected.
Despite being still naked, she behaved so naturally that the human might have thought her fiancée was back since they had so many heart-to-hearts with bared hearts, souls, and bodies.
"I ignored for weeks that I was recovering memories of someone in my life, but yesterday…" Amity hesitated, and Luz did her best not to interrupt, "I heard myself…" She balled the bedding, "I told someone I loved them," She added and watched the human's reaction, afraid to scare her away.
"Do you want me to help you find them?" Luz asked hesitantly when the silence became unbearable. She was shocked when the witch smiled in return.
"No," Amity replied simply, "I donʼt want whoever that was. They aren't here," She added, and Luz was ready to explode, "Whoever I was before, that was a different person, but I'm here now and…" She hesitated, looking away in embarrassment, "And even though I don't know what my future holds, it would be so cool if you were a part of it… If that's what you would want, too," She added, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, blushing fervently.
"Amity," Luz sat up to face the witch and cradled her cheeks, "I would love nothing more, but I'm scared that the more you know me, the more you want me gone," She voiced her concerns, and Amity smiled, caressing the scarred cheek, and a rogue tear escaped her eye.
"I doubt that, but I promise to be always honest with you, okay?" Luz could not believe what she was hearing.
"Okay," The human grinned before pulling Amity into another kiss.
"Titan, did I make Amity fall for me again?" She wondered, surprised her plan worked.
Even though she had forgotten about her plan halfway through. She just wanted Amity to be well, safe, and happy. She did not expect the witch to have feelings for her. Not since her personality was molded into Odalia's image.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!
The women jumped away from each other with a slight yelp. Luz suddenly smiled, realizing what was happening. She grabbed a blanket to cover her body and left the bed, approaching the door and shaking her head in disbelief.
"I forgot, I ordered breakfast in bed," She explained, calming the witch down.
Amity smiled, watching her newfound girlfriend cover her body before opening the door. The brunette's head popped out, and Luz looked for someone, seeing only a metal food cart with no one in sight.
"Enjoy!" A voice down the corridor was barely heard.
Luz took hold of the metal trolley and pulled the breakfast into the room. Suddenly, she felt very uncomfortable. She parked the cart beside the small table and froze, holding the handle tightly, watching the object before her, freezing in her actions, blinking rapidly.
"Luz?" Amity asked, slightly moving toward the edge of the bed, "Are you okay?" She added, realizing that something was wrong. She was certain she could feel the fear coursing through the human's body.
Luz stood by the portable table, watching it carefully. Yet, she did not see their breakfast. The only thing she could see was the set of bloodied tools waiting to be used on her. The pincers that ripped her tooth out, the whip, and the magical glowing glove.
"Luz?" Amity put on the human's tee long enough to cover her nether regions.
But Luz could not let go of the trolley, worrying the witch even further. The moment Amity approached the human, she noticed the cold sweat bead on her forehead and the tan hands clenching the handle, whitening her knuckles while her breathing hitched.
"Luz?" Amity repeated, afraid, not knowing what was happening.
"Is she reliving some past of her own? Did I trigger her or something?" The witch wondered, watching the other woman whose hands began to tremble
"It's okay, it's okay, come here," The Heiress cooed, forcing the human away from the object and trying to calm her. But the brunette could not stop shaking. Her eyes blinked rapidly. Something was wrong.
"H-how do you like the Blight Industries invention?" Luz muttered under her breath, her eyes staring into the void, scaring Amity.
"Come on, Luz," The witch tried to calm the human, guiding her to sit on the bed, "Everything's fine. Breathe," She pleaded, but she did not believe herself. The hazel-brown gaze was locked on the cursed object.
"Blight Industries invention? Why is she so scared? Did my family hurt her? Was that in the Catacombs!?" Amity's mind raced, punishing her for her curiosity.
"N-no…" Luz gasped, "Not… Real!" She got back to her feet and tugged her hair forcefully, forcing herself back to her sense of self.
"Luz?" Amity tried to calm the human, not recognizing the woman before her.
The witch was ashamed she needed this long to understand that Luz was always so calm, patient, and understanding because she had her issues. The human understood her so well because she experienced what she was going through.
"Didn't she say she almost died a few months ago when I was still in the Clinic?" Amity tried to think back, hoping to understand her current situation, "And that food trolley…"
"N-no!" Luz jumped away, falling to the floor, worrying the witch who tried to catch her.
"Luz?" Amity watched the woman crawl away from the food and noticed her right leg was barely moving.
The human knew something was wrong with her. Despite all her instincts and logical thinking, she could not stop running away. Suddenly, Luz felt just as alone as when she came to the Boiling Isles.
"Oh, no…" The human realized what was wrong.
"Luz, let me help," Amity practically begged when Luz slowly and painfully approached her discarded jacket, which she immediately started to run sack, checking the pockets.
"No," The brunette gasped, "No, no, no, no, no…" She rambled, worrying the witch.
"Luz," Amity sat on the floor and grabbed Luz forcefully, hoping to get her attention, "Talk to me," She pleaded.
"M-my medicine," Luz whispered, frightened like never before. She removed bloodied fingers from her jacket, making the witch gasp. Amity immediately took hold of the hurt hand and inspected the cuts while Luz could not focus on anything, "I can't hurt you," The human choked, and a risky idea came to her mind, "Ghost!? I need your help," She pleaded, but nothing happened, earning a questioning and an impatient gaze from the witch.
"Calm down, Luz," Amity whispered, tightening the hold on the hurt hand and healing it, "Tell me what's happening so I can help," She added worriedly, trying to distract the other woman.
"I'm sorry," Luz's voice trembled, "I forgot to take my medicine yesterday morning," She explained, "I wanted to take it after dinner so it would last for another day, but I forgot," She added. The witch lifted her chin to look into the hazel-brown eyes.
"What does that mean?" Amity asked worriedly.
"It means I haven't taken my elixirs in over forty-eight hours," Luz answered, but she noticed that it did not clear anything for the witch, "I need to go back home before something triggers my… Um... Condition," She added nervously, looking aside with shame.
"Does your condition have anything to do with you having magic?" Amity asked, thinking about how the human had acted the previous evening.
"Y-yeah…" Luz admitted, her voice full of shame, "I need medicine to keep it under control and not to hurt anyone…" She added, and the witch froze momentarily, realizing why the other woman understood her so well.
"Okay," Amity replied, smiling supportively, "Let's eat, and we'll go…"
Tap, tap, tap!
The sudden sound came from the window, interrupting the witch's words. She hesitantly got up, leaving Luz on the floor, and opened the curtains. A small owl was perching on the windowsill, hooting worriedly.
"Owlbert?" Luz asked with disbelief. Amity opened the window, recognizing the Owl Lady's Palisman, "What are you doing here?" She wondered when the small bird perched on her knee.
"Hoo-hoot!" Owlbert trilled, and Amity watched the human nod in understanding.
"Is everything okay?" The witch asked, getting the attention.
"Y-yeah," Luz stuttered, "Owlbert is my mother's Palisman," She explained.
"I know, we met," Amity said. The human shook her head slightly, realizing her mistake.
"He was worried," Luz added, knowing she could not tell her that Ghost asked Owlbert for help.
"One hell of a timing," Amity smiled warmly.
She pulled Luz up and helped her dress before serving her food and removing the metal trolley from the room. The witch noticed how the brunette relaxed once the object was gone, making her curious about what happened to the human.
"My girlfriend," The witch smiled sheepishly, lost in thoughts.
Amityʼs smile faded when she noticed that Luz was frozen in her seat, staring at the food, her eyes immobile. The witch's brows tied in a concerned frown, and she touched the tan hand delicately.
"Huh?" The human seemed surprised to see Amity before her, "Oh, sorry," She muttered, "I have a hard time focusing without my medicine," She explained, ashamed of herself.
"Hey, it's okay," Amity offered a warm, supportive smile, squeezing the calloused hand a little, "You helped me get better, so now, as your awesome girlfriend, I'll help you get better, too," She added, standing up, pecking the scarred cheek, "Eat," She said and started preparing them to leave.
"Awesome girlfriend, huh?" Luz smirked, and Amity's ears twitched, realizing what she had said.
"Shut up," The witch muttered, trying to hide her embarrassment, packing Luz's backpack before refreshing in the bathroom.
The human noticed how the witch handled her belongings with care and order. Amity may not have understood what guided her movements, but she instinctively knew precisely where Luz stored her sketchbooks, pencils, and other belongings in her backpack.
"Ready?" Amity emerged from the bathroom. She smiled, realizing how Luz's expression lightened when she saw her.
"Why does it feel so right?" The witch wondered, chasing her doubts away.
"Y-yeah, I guess," Luz replied.
"Are you sure you're fine?" Amity approached the human, caringly placing her hand on the warm shoulder.
"She looks so different…" Luz thought and smiled.
"Not to lie, I've been better," She got up and winced slightly.
"Please, Beasty, try not to freak out," Luz thought, but the silence and pain in her body let her know she needed to hurry.
"The sooner I get my elixir, the better," The human added, and Owlbert flew to perch on her shoulder with a delicate, supportive trill, "We have to go to the Market," She said with a frown.
"You understand him?" Amity gasped in shock, wondering what else the human could do.
"Huh? Yeah," Luz sent her a sheepish smile, "We've known each other for years, and besides that, I helped my grandfather a lot with caring for other Palismans in the Bat Queen Forest," She added as if it was nothing, shocking the witch further.
"I totally want to hear that story one day, but we should go," Amityʼs tone lowered when she noticed how Luz's expression hazed.
"Yes, sorry," The human agreed, "I can't remember the last time I was so stupid and forgot…"
"Luz," Amity interrupted, placing her hands on the human's shoulders and looking deeply into the hazel-brown eyes, "You weren't stupid," She said, smiling warmly, "You saved me and got your medicine wasted in the process," She added, making Luz smirk.
"Got a girlfriend too," She teased, showing off her white-gold fang, making the witch blush and slant her ears.
"Titan, don't make me regret it," Amity hid her embarrassment behind the humor.
"No backsies, Blight," Luz joked, earning a small giggle from the witch.
"I wouldn't dream of it," The witch replied and quickly approached Luz to grant her the chaste yet heated kiss on the lips, surprising the human with the bold action, "Now, come on," Once they pulled away, she pointed at the door in the joking manner Clawthorne knew from their past.
They flew above the Isles, enjoying the serenity of the moment. Luz loved how the witch sat behind her, keeping her close and secure. She waited weeks to let herself be vulnerable in front of Amity.
On the other hand, the Heiress could not be happier and more content with how she could hold the human close and care for her. She longed for this for weeks and fought hard against the nonsense that caring for others shows weakness.
They did not know how long their flight lasted, but soon they landed in the center of the Market, and Luz hurried toward Mr. Potion's store. Amity could not ignore how the human limped on her way and winced in pain, trying to hide it from her. Yet, it was so clear the witch could have sworn she felt it, too.
"Morton!" Luz banged on the closed wooden shutters. The patience she always showed Amity was gone, "Come on, Morton!" This was one angry customer.
"Gee, L. Whatʼs the damage?" The young brunette witch opened the store. Amity did not understand the funnel on his head, but she said nothing. She patiently stood behind the human with Owlbert perched on her shoulder.
"I'm the damage, Morton," Luz growled before hissing in a sudden surge of pain. Amity stiffened at this change in human behavior.
"What the hell is wrong with me?" The witch wondered, confused by a strange sensation coursing through her body.
"You don't look so good," Morton noted, handing her a glass of water.
"Thanks," Luz replied tiredly, gulping a drink like her life depended on that, "I need my elixir. I've been running on empty for the past forty-eight hours, and my last dose was destroyed… AHHH!" A sudden surge of pain erupted from her chest, making her hug herself, falling forward on the counter.
"Luz?!" Amity immediately appeared beside her girlfriend, helping her stand. She applied comforting caresses, trying to ignore how she must have lost her mind to feel the human's pain.
"Wow, keep it in," Morton asked fearfully, "Let me check if I have some extra. The new batch is still brewing," He added worriedly.
"Please and thank you," Luz squealed, tightening the hold on her ribs, feeling the ominous presence she had not felt in years.
"I know you're freaking out, too, but try to stay calm…" She thought, hoping the demon would hear her.
"Luz," Amity tried to get the human's attention. She hesitated momentarily but decided it was not the time to ask about her condition, "How can I help?" She asked instead, caressing the tan cheeks, hoping to bring peace.
"If…" Luz paused, feeling a sudden surge of pain, "If it comes to worst, I want you to stay away," She pleaded, "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I'd ever hurt you," She added before the witch could interrupt.
"Whatever you need, Luz," Amity vowed.
"Gah!" Luz exclaimed and fell to her knees in front of the stand, "No, no, no, no, please don't," She begged and lifted her tee.
The human revealed her stomach, and Amity saw the ribs crack and move, rearranging themselves. The witch's expression faded. Her ears slanted, and her pupils shrank in horror. She immediately decided against her previous thought.
"Um, Luz," Amity whispered, "Is this a bad time to ask about your condition?" She asked, and Luz chuckled grimly.
"Very bad time," The human confirmed, but she knew it would not be wise to keep Amity entirely in the dark, "My Mother was cursed when she was a young witch… It was killing her…" She paused for another wave of pain before she continued, "Literally! It was draining her bile sac," She added, gasping for air, "I found a way to transfer it… So she could live," She said with a small smile, which quickly faded when her eyes rolled up.
"Oh, no, no, no, Luz?" Amity begged, trying to keep the human awake, "Morton!" Amity roared ferally into the store.
"Miss Blight?" The Potion Master leaned over the counter and noticed the Heiress kneeling above the barely conscious human.
"Tell me you have her elixirs…" Amity whispered pleadingly.
"Um…" The vendor looked away in shame, "Iʼm out, but the new batch will be ready in a few hours…"
"We don't have a few hours," Amity said in panic, pointing at Luz.
"As long as she remains calm, then except for a horrific amount of pain, she should be fine. It would take days without elixirs for her to change without external trigger," He said warmly, and the Heiress sent him a glare before refocusing on the human.
"Change? What does he mean by that?" Amity thought, trying not to panic, remain calm, and help the woman in her embrace.
"Luz, can you hear me?" She asked worriedly.
"Titan, why does everything hurt me, too!? What's going on!?" Amity wondered before forcing herself to ignore her sensations.
"Ugh?" Luz whimpered pathetically, lying on the ground. Her eyelids fluttered, trying to focus on the witch, "A-Ami…" She gasped, tightening her hold on her chest.
"Yeah, me," Amity confirmed, looking up at Morton and then back at Luz, "Iʼm gonna take you to the Clinic. We can help you with the pain," She was thinking, hot on her feet, looking for the best approach, "I'll get you your medicine as soon as it's ready…"
"Four hours," Morton butted it.
"In four hours," Amity confirmed, "Is that okay?" She asked, clearing the human's face from her stray hair.
"Not that… I have a choice," Luz smirked, trying to joke, but Amity could have seen the tears glistening in her eyes.
"Okay, then," The Heiress straightened herself and faced the owl on her shoulder, "Go, warn Emira. We'll be there shortly. She's in no condition to fly anyway," She explained before facing Luz, "Come on. You need some rest and painkillers," She said, and Luz was never more grateful for the help.
Most of the time, she did not mind having the Owl Demon living inside her. She considered it a part of her. But on those rare days when she lost touch with the other being, she felt like a heavy burden to anyone around her.
"So that curse, huh?" Amity tried to keep the human awake while she helped Luz up, holding her waist and placing her hand on her shoulder, "Can you tell me more while we walk?" She asked, and they moved forward. The witch was as careful and patient with her as the human was when she made her first steps a few weeks ago.
"Lilith…" Luz gasped before wincing in pain, "She cursed Eda before the Coven Tryouts," She paused to grab her ribs. Her face contorted in discomfort.
"Madame Clawthorne?" Amity squeaked in surprise, shocked that her old Mentor would do such a thing.
"Y-yeah," Luz confirmed with a grim chuckle, "Didn't see that coming, huh?" She tried to lighten the mood, but she suddenly limped on her right leg so hard that she almost pulled Amity with her to the ground.
"Wow, are you okay?" The witch asked, helping the human up.
"Y-yeah," The human mumbled, and Amity lifted her chin to inspect her.
Despite being slightly taller, Luz cowered in pain, so much so that the witch towered above her. The intense gold gaze roamed the tan face worriedly. Luz was running a fever. Her teeth chattered, the tan forehead beaded sweat while surges of pain contorted her face in agony.
"Okay, hold on," Amity decided to increase the pace of their walk. She grabbed the tan forearms forcefully and pulled Luz into a back strap carry, "Now try not to move too much," She added, leaning forward before pulling Luz's legs to grab them in a piggyback hold.
"Mmm… Fuck," Clawthorne whimpered pathetically, "Iʼm so sorry," She sobbed.
"It's okay, Luz," Amity replied with a small smile, "Just try to stay calm," She added, and she could feel how the human trembled on her back.
Amity tightened her hold and moved forward with purpose. Her step was full of determination to get Luz the care she deserved. She ignored the looks and whispers around her for the first time since she woke up. She was happy with the human in her life and was not about to give that up.
Luz could feel the strain on the witch's body. Her breathing was getting more labored, and her pace was less energetic. She was not as strong as she used to be when she carried her from the Hexside Academy to the Owl House almost a year ago. But she was not giving up.
"I donʼt know if you can hear me, but please…" Luz begged the demon, "We need to stay calm…" She added, and she could have sworn the jolt of pain that erupted in her chest was the strangest form of reply.
"AAAAA!" Amity roared and fell to her knees, not understanding where the sudden ache in her chest came from.
"Amity?" Luz asked weakly, rolling off the witchʼs back.
"I'm…" Amity gasped for air, "Iʼm fine," She looked up into the hazel-brown eyes and smirked, "I must be still weakened from the accident," She added, taking a deep inhale to calm herself before addressing the human again, "Come on. The Clinic is right around the corner," She said with a faint smile, helping Luz up.
"Ah, fuck," Clawthorne hissed, grabbing her right thigh, "Sorry, it was broken a while ago, and without my elixirs, it hurts like hell," She explained.
Amity nodded, finally understanding why the human wobbled and occasionally limped on her right leg, how she held onto it in a panic attack, and how she usually kept her weight on the left one.
"Stop apologizing," The witch repeated, "You didn't do anything wrong," She reassured and tightened the hold on the hurt body.
They were just about to take the last turn before approaching the Clinic when Amity felt something hit the back of her head, making them stop. The witch shook her head, growled in discomfort, and turned around carefully.
She noticed the blue-eyed demon with yellow skin dressed in turquoise robes. They looked at her furiously, and before anyone could have thought another thought, Amity noticed a brick flying toward them.
"Woah!" The Heiress ducked and covered Luz's body with her own, bringing them to the ground, "Whatʼs your problem?!" She roared at the demon angrily.
She paused, her lips parting in shock. Amity looked back up and noticed ten other people accompanying the demon. They all wore the old Blight Industries uniforms assigned to the factory workers.
"We have had enough," The yellow-skinned demon growled, taking a step closer, "You ruined our lives and took away our jobs, but then you think you can attack us, suffocate us with your power?" They growled, helping her recognize the demon from Latissa. Their comrades surrounded the witch, who knelt with the feverish human in her arms, "You care more about your pet than about people who devoted their lives to your family," They added, and someone handed them a wooden stick.
"We've had enough, Miss Blight," Someone else added. The other voices joined, and another brick flew forward, hitting the witch's right temple.
Everything became blurry momentarily, but Amity leaned over Luz to protect her. She tried to figure out a plan. Something was very wrong. It was the middle of the day, and the streets surrounding the Clinic were usually crowded and patrolled by the Coven Scouts.
"It's an ambush," The Heiress realized, and she had to think everything through.
The witch pulled away and looked at Luz, who trembled in her hold. Amity knew she could release her magic and make the angry mob fall back, but that would just prove their point. A drop of blood fell on the tan face, making her realize the recent hit had injured her. Another drop fell on the human's forehead, making the hazel-brown eyes open weakly.
"Youʼre gonna be alright, Luz," Amity tried to ease the nerves when she noticed Luz's increased breathing.
"Youʼre… Hurt…" The human growled and turned her head to the side.
She took in their surroundings. It seemed like she just realized a wild pack of angry Blight Industries ex-employees had ambushed them. Luz sat up and eyed the people approaching them, furious, armed, and desperate. In her peripheral vision, she noticed a wooden stick flying toward them.
"Stop!" Amity tried to beg, but it was too late. The weapon made contact with Luz's face, making her fall back and roll to all fours away from her girlfriend, "Don't hurt her!"
"Oh, she's going down with you," Someone hissed angrily.
"AAAAA!" Luz let out a feral roar, and she threw her head back, kneeling, arching her back in pain.
"L-Luz…" Amity gasped, shocked and scared, seeing the feverish body surrounded by a swirl of golden magic.
"Oh, no… She wasn't supposed to stress out," The witch realized as she watched her girlfriend with an equal amount of fear and awe.
"Luz, it's alright," Amity quickly approached the human, cupping her face, trying to calm her down, ignoring the warmth of the powerful, golden aura lifting her fluffy mane, "Come on. Look at me," She pleaded, surprised to see the pitch-black eyes open. Amity gulped nervously, her ears slanted in fear.
"P-p-please…" Luz whispered in a low distorted voice that sent chills down everyoneʼs spines, "Run…" She begged, and her dull fang grew painfully, making the human take hold of her head.
"She doesn't want to hurt me… She wouldn't want to hurt anyone," The Heiress thought, knowing how good a person her girlfriend was.
"I'm not leaving you," Amity shook her head, "I can't. I care about you and want to be here for you," She reasoned.
Suddenly, Luz pushed her aside, shocking the Heiress with the sudden action. It took the witch a moment to realize that her girlfriend caught mid-flight one of the sticks directed at her.
"I…" The human growled, staring at the panicked face of her opponent, "I can't control…" She choked, and her nails lengthened before she pushed the demon away from her, only angering them further.
Luz turned around, and the Heiress gasped when she noticed the feral look on the human's face. The pitch-black eyes, long fangs, and spiky ears that threw off her beanie before suddenly feathering up made Amity's heart race. She was unsure if that was fear of or for the human, but she was not about to leave her.
"L-Luz…" The witch whispered, her eyes roaming the hurt woman who again fell on all fours before hugging her cracking ribs, "No, no, no, no," She murmured when her brain caught up.
"These people will get hurt…" Amity thought, realizing that whatever the human lived with granted her an enormous magical power.
"Get away from her!" The Heiress quickly got on her feet and approached her girlfriend hurriedly, "She doesn't want to hurt you!" She addressed the mob, shielding the human who barely held to the remains of her self-control, whimpering in pain.
"Too bad," The demon leading the group smirked, tightening the hold on his blunt weapon, "We want to hurt her…"
"What has she ever done to you!?" Amity interrupted furiously, feeling her bile sac squeezed painfully between her heart and her lung.
"You care for her," Another person growled, and without any further warning, they jumped at Luz.
"No!" Amity tried to step in front of Luz, but a moment of distraction was enough for another hit to land on her back and send her flying away from the human, "Don't!" She turned around, unaware of how her eyes illuminated with a fuchsia glow, "We don't want to hurt…"
"AAAAA!" Luz's distorted roar turned into a loud screech, deafening the Heiress. The Owl Demon's magic erupted her body in a violent wave, pushing some of the demons aside.
"No, Luz!" Amity tried to reach her girlfriend, but she was too far gone.
"Amity!" The Heiress could have sworn she heard her sister but could not look away from the human.
Another wave of the gold magical aura erupted the hurt woman, and Luz fell to her back. Her legs kicked and pushed her to the side while her back arched in agony. Amity ignored everything around her and approached the human, cupping her face, ignoring the strangest sensations coursing through her body in painful jolts.
"It's okay, I'm here, Luz," The witch whispered, trying to reassure the woman writhing on the dusty ground.
"N-no…" Luz whimpered fearfully. She loved that Amity was beside her just as much as she was frightened.
"Amity!" Someone called out, getting the human's attention.
"No!" Luz growled, scaring the witch, who had no idea that the yellow-skinned demon approached them in a desperate attempt to land at least one hit on the Heiress.
"Screech!"
Amity had to cover her ears when a feral sound erupted from Luz's throat. The human jumped forward, making her girlfriend fall to her back. A warm liquid splashed on the pale face, making the witch open her eyes. She craned her neck and looked up. The yellow-skinned demon fell to their knees when sharp talons sliced their stomach.
"L-Luz…" Amity gasped when she watched the human hovering above her.
Luz looked down and noticed the pale face painted with the demonʼs blood. The golden eyes roamed the pitch-black orbs, and her slanted ears twitched nervously while her chest was heaving rapidly.
Luz placed her hand on the ground next to Amity's head, and she let out a pained whimper, clenching her eyes. She could not control herself. The moment she feared the most in the past weeks became a reality.
"It's okay, Luz, stay with me," The human heard a soft, reassuring voice, and she was surprised by a delicate touch on her cheeks. She opened her eyes in surprise, locking them with the golden ones.
"Call the Scouts!" Someone yelled, but neither Luz nor Amity cared about that.
"I'm s-s-sorry…" Luz gasped before snarling in pain, her feathery, spiky ears slanting as she slowly tried to move away from the witch, "R-run…" She gasped, and her shoulder cracked loudly, popping out of her socket.
"Ah!" Amity gasped at the sight, feeling the jolt of pain in her body, "Luz!" She pushed everything aside and focused on the human.
"Run!" Luz exclaimed in panic, "AAAAA!" She lowered her head, and her ribs cracked like broken piano keys, growing, expanding, stretching her shirt and her skin.
"LUZ!" Amity whimpered loudly, extending her hand toward the human, watching with horror how the scarred body broke apart only to grow, reshape, and cover with fur and feathers.
"RUUUUN!" Luz roared wildly, and her voice turned into a deafening screech.
"Amity, come on!" The witch felt someone's hands on her body, but all she could do was gawk at the woman she came to care for.
"SCREECH!" Another bird-like shriek escaped Luz's throat, and Amity could have seen how the tan body lost its human shape, and the giant Owl-like human-demon hybrid spread its mighty wings.
"L-Luz?" Amity gasped, freezing at the sight.
"Amity, move…" Someone tried to pull her away, but the witch could not move.
Amity watched the Owl Beast snarl angrily. A string of saliva dangled from her fang before it broke and fell to the ground. The powerful claws scratched the ground as she slowly walked toward the witch, whose face paled even more under the blood splatter on her cheek as her temple was still bleeding.
"Clear the street!" A sudden yell distracted Luz, who spread her wings defensively and let out a low growl.
The human looked around and realized Lilith and Hunter had guided the Coven Scouts to clear the street from the mob while Amity was being held by Emira, trying to pull her sister away from harm.
"Luz?" Amity whispered in shock, and the demon faced the witch.
"Amity, you have to move…" Emira urged her sister, but she still could not move a muscle, staring at the pitch-black eyes.
The witch could have sworn she had seen her reflection in the charcoal saucers. Her ears twitched anxiously, and she noticed how the giant wings relaxed and finally folded while the feathery ears relaxed.
"Luz?" Amity finally found it in her to get off the ground. She pushed Emira's hold away, and she slowly approached the hurt woman, "Are you in there?" She asked hesitantly. Her voice shook with nerves, but she took another step forward.
Amity's body was so tense she could feel her muscles cramp. She watched her brand-new girlfriend with awe and fear. It was so confusing, but at the same time, it felt strangely familiar.
"It's okay," Amity smiled at the woman, and her delicate hand made contact with the deformed, tan face, "Thatʼs it. I'm not going anywhere," She smiled warmly and caressed the cheek, feeling the scars underneath the delicate fur, "Titan, you're fluffy," She giggled nervously. Luz sat down and let out a loud purr.
Amity did not understand why she felt so calm and safe with the giant human-demon hybrid before her. She caressed the fluffy cheek with her thumb, reveling in the purrs escaping the human.
"Animal control is here. Pack it up!" A sudden voice echoed in the street, and Amity pulled away.
"No, wait!" Lilith ordered, but it was too late.
The green-skinned demon drew a spell circle. The crew followed his example, and the bright green lightning hit Luz, making her screech in pain. Amity had no time to react, paralyzed with a sudden surge of agony. The giant, bird-like body turned in convulsion and hit the witch in an accidental spasm, sending her flying to the ground.
"I said STOP!" Lilith hit the ground with her staff, forcing the Animal Control to their knees.
"Ey, lady! Stop interfering with our job! Someone called us to capture the beast!"
"Well, this beast is my niece, so back off!" Lilith roared angrily in a way Amity had never seen before.
Luz shook her head to regain focus and turned to face Amity. A quiet, scared trill escaped her lips when she noticed the witch wincing on the ground. The feathery ears slanted in panic, and the Owl Demon moved away while Emira helped her sister back up.
"No, no, no, Luz, don't panic," Amity quickly tried to approach her girlfriend, but it was too late, "It was an accident!" She added, but Luz spread her wings and flew away, raising the dust from the ground, "LUZ!" Amity called behind her, but she was already gone, disappearing between the clouds.
"Amity?" Emira dragged her sister from her stupor, her eyes still frozen on the point where she had last seen Luz, "Amity!" She forced the Heiress to look at her.
"Emira?" The younger witch looked at the Healer as if she just realized she was there, "What are you doing here?"
Amity then looked around and noticed the Coven Scouts arresting the demons and witches from the mob, Lilith dealing with Animal Control, and bystanders pointing at her while someone took a photo of her. She looked back at Emira, and everything that transpired was finally coming together.
"Owlbert came to the Clinic…" The Healer explained. The Palisman perched on Amity's shoulder, but Emira could not focus, "Amity, you're bleeding. Don't move," She drew a spell circle, but her sister was already gone.
Amity approached the pile of shredded clothes, and her breathing hitched. Her fists clenched her tunic nervously before she knelt and collected everything in a bundle. Her ears twitched anxiously when she thought of the pain Luz had to go through while her body ripped her clothing to pieces.
"Amity, what are you doing?" Emira asked when she watched her sister pick up the human's belongings.
"I'm going to the Owl House," She replied dryly, trying to control her emotions, "Luz may be there, and if not, then only her mother would know where to look for her," She explained, clutching the clothes possessively.
"Hoot!" Owlbert transformed into a staff, and Amity nodded with understanding.
Emira watched her sister in awe. She had the strangest feeling that something had changed since they ransacked the Catacombs together. The lavender-haired witch seemed so much like the Amity who left for her vacation in the Human Realm.
"I can't leave the Clinic," Emira broke the silence, approaching her sister, who sat sideways on the staff, "But take this," She presented a golden elixir-filled vial, "Luz left it in the Personnelle Room some time ago," Amity nodded. Her eyes roamed her sister's face, "And make sure Eda heals you," She added sternly, making the Heiress smile.
"Thank you…"
"I'm proud of you, Sis," Emira surprised her sister with a powerful hug before she pulled away, still holding Amity's shoulders, "Go get her," She added with a slight wink. How the Heiress blushed confirmed the Healer's suspicions, making her snort.
The younger witch did not trust herself to speak. She was not sure she even could speak. Amity pulled away from Emira, nodded at the Palisman, and they flew away toward the Owl House in the hope of finding Luz there.
Eda smacked her lips when she finally started waking up. It had been years since she allowed herself to sleep in. Or rather, it was ages since she felt safe and calm enough to let herself relax. She stretched her limbs, popped joints, smiled, and relaxed on the pillow.
"Someone's happy," The gold eyes cracked open, and the witch noticed Danielle lying by her side, watching her intensely, returning the dreamy smile.
"You have no idea," Eda rolled to the side and captured the full lips in a sleepy yet passionate kiss, "I'm glad to see you feeling better," She added, worried about her partner but never ceasing the affection.
"Mmm, much better," The human mewled contently, scootching closer, pulling the taller woman, resting her thigh on the witchʼs hip, who quickly pawed the warm flesh, "Youʼre insatiable," Danielle whispered heatedly before she quickly recaptured the eager lips.
"Youʼre the one to talk," Eda chuckled and pulled the human on top of her, letting her straddle her hips, and they continued their kiss, "I have to make up for leaving you sexless for over three years," She purred, and Danielle chuckled grimly at that.
"Is that so?" Danielle pushed Eda back to the pillows and watched the witch while they breathed heavily, "How about we start…" She slowly rocked her hips sensually as she lowered herself above the witch, reaching her hand to brush the gray hair off the pale face, "With that," She let her middle finger run down the pointy ear, eliciting a loud, high-pitched moan from the witch, "Thatʼs it, Cariño," She leaned to the unattended ear, whispering sensually, "Let me hear you," She encouraged, ensuring to let her breath linger on the ear before she nibbled the helix.
"Fu-fuck! DANI!" Eda closed her eyes, throwing her head back. Her breathing hitched, and she fell into the pit of pleasure.
"Mmm," Danielle purred huskily, "I think I can get you louder," She added, and she trailed her fingers across Eda's chest, resting for a moment around hardened, sensitive nipples before traveling down to where the witch wanted her.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
A violent knocking at the door made Danielle pull away, and Eda opened her eyes. They roamed each other's faces in shock, not wanting to stop what they had just begun, knowing how in the mood they had already been.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
Hooty's loud begging for mercy made it to their ears, and they realized it must have been urgent. They put on some clothes, Eda cast a quick refreshing spell, and they hesitantly went downstairs, anxious, knowing Luz would not return so soon.
THUD! THUD! THUD!
"Alright, geez!" Eda barked, feeling the frustration of the interrupted activity.
She swung the doors open with the same type and amount of energy, and her jaw fell when she looked down. The lavender-haired witch with a face covered in blood, wearing a distressed expression and a dusty cloak, was shaking in front of her house, holding the bundle of ripped clothes in her hands.
"Boots?!" She exclaimed in shock, and Danielle ran to conceal her ears with a bandana. This picture was the last on the list of possibilities, "What are you…?" She paused when she noticed the maroon beanie in the bundle of clothes. Her brows tied, ears slanted, and her tone immediately softened, "Whereʼs Luz?"
"I…" Amity tried to speak up, but her words were stuck in her throat.
She opened her mouth to speak again, but no understandable sound came out. She struggled, frustrated with herself, until she noticed Danielle in the living room. Their eyes met, and the doctor immediately recognized the stress-induced aphonia.
"It's okay, Cariño," She approached the door and guided the young, trembling witch inside while Eda shared a worried look with Hooty, "Come on, Eda, she's hurt," Danielle addressed the older witch, who immediately decided to act.
"Help her to the couch. I'll get some Healing Glyphs," Eda said, disappearing for a moment in her workshop while Danielle helped the Heiress to calm down.
"It's going to be alright. You don't have to talk," The human said reassuringly. Amity looked at her with the most profound appreciation, "Would you mind if I take off your cloak?" She asked, and the witch shook her head, allowing to be undressed, "I'll take that too…" She removed Luz's backpack and Amity's bag in time for Eda to return with supplies.
"Okay, let's patch you up, Boots," Eda offered a warm smile of support, sitting on the brew table.
"I…" Amity tried again, frustrated with herself.
"For Titan's sake! Speak!" The young witch scolded herself.
"No need to explain," Eda replied, and Owlbert perched on the young witch's shoulder, hooting in support, "The little guy told me everything," She explained and then looked down at Amity's hands, still clutching Luz's clothes before reluctantly glancing at Danielle.
"Let me take that too," The human sneaked her hands toward the bundle of ripped clothes.
No one could react before Amity's ears slanted aggressively, her pupils shrank, and she released a feral hiss. Her nails lengthened, tightening her hold on the clothes, making Danielle jump away and share another hesitant look with Eda, who smirked with amusement.
It took Amity a moment to understand what she just did. Her expression relaxed before it faded into a shameful gaze, realizing how possessively she behaved. Her ears fluttered in embarrassment. She retracted her nails and allowed Danielle to retrieve the ripped clothes.
"Soooo," Eda smiled mischievously, drawing a bright blue spell circle, getting Amity's attention, "You and my Kid, huh?" She teased, and the witch blushed fervently.
"Eda, don't mock," Danielle defended the younger woman, whose ears twitched slightly.
"H-h-how…" Amity stuttered, barely forming the words.
"Don't force yourself," Danielle wanted to ensure the witch felt safe around them.
"As I said - Owlbert told me everything," Eda explained as she applied the spell to Amity's temple, "Jokes aside, I'm happy for you guys," Her mocking expression changed into a warm, motherly look filled with care, "Take a deep breath, this will sting a little," She warned. The blue glow illuminated the gold eyes, and the younger woman released a pained whimper.
"We gotcha," Danielle cooed, and she risked caressing the Heiress's back in soothing circles.
"And done," Eda dropped the spell and then cleaned the pale face off the blood before applying the small Healing Glyph, "So I take it Luz was her typical forgetful self, huh?" She asked, and Amity nodded hesitantly, looking aside, having trouble looking the Owl Lady in the eyes.
"It's okay, Cariño. No need to force yourself to talk or look Eda in the eye," Danielle reassured, and the young witch started rocking slowly, nodding in understanding, "Can I talk to you for a second?" She addressed the older witch, gesturing to follow her into the kitchen.
"What's up, Dani?" Eda asked when they ensured Amity was safely trying to calm herself on the couch.
"Owlbert told you what happened," Danielle stated, "What happened to make her this jittery? I haven't seen her go mute since… Well, since she lost control of her magic summoning Odalia-shaped abomination… Doesn't matter!" She threw her hands in the air.
"Dani," Eda stepped forward and pulled the human into a hug, "Easy, I know you care for her," She added and pulled away.
Danielle looked up, and the witch told her everything the Palisman had told her. From Ghost asking for help to how Emira found one last dose of the elixir until Luz took off into the crimson skies, afraid of hurting Amity.
"And she didn't know about Luz's condition…" Danielle whispered as she cracked the doors open to look at Amity from afar, "Nor the Bond…" She sighed heavily, "The pain…" She looked back at Eda, "She must have been so confused, so scared…"
"Go on," Eda interrupted, encouraging the human, "She needs her Mamá," She added with a smile, and Danielle did not need to be urged.
Amity was left alone, sitting on the Owl House's living room couch. She did not understand why she could not speak or look Eda in the eye. She did not even notice how she rocked herself, trying to find a sense of calm.
"Pathetic!" A sudden blinding flash of her motherʼs face haunted her, appearing before her eyes.
Amity shook her head and tugged her hair, trying to rid herself of the strange vision. Her breathing hitched when she recalled Luz's pained expression while she transformed. The witch did not notice when she got to her feet and started pacing the room until she found her bag.
Danielle frowned, watching the young woman. She recognized this behavior from her past. In the overwhelming situation when everything seemed to fall apart, the witch needed order and control. Amity grabbed her bag and threw the notebooks to the floor. She knelt and started going through them, mumbling something under her breath.
"Cariño?" Danielle asked, reluctantly stepping closer.
Her frown deepened when she noticed some strangely-looking letters. Amity started rocking again as she flipped through pages, pausing when she found the rough sketch of the Owl Demon.
"Amity?" Danielle knelt beside the witch, who did not stop her frantic behavior, "¿Cariño?"
The human tried again, and for a moment, Amity looked up. Her lengthened nails tapped her thumb one by one in the precise rhythm and order. The golden eyes roamed the tan face momentarily until she suddenly jumped toward the couch and snatched another journal.
"Youʼre not getting anything out of her," Eda's voice startled the human, "She did the same thing when Luz went missing the first time around," She explained, "It freaked me out then, but it wasn't… This," She gestured to all of Amity.
Danielle looked back at the young witch and realized she behaved like her brother when his mind worked faster than he could express himself. She wondered if the same approach would help Amity calm down.
"There must be something she's looking for… A pattern," Danielle thought, getting up.
"Amity," The human whispered, and the witch froze, only her nails kept tapping the thumb in a calculated manner.

Suddenly, everyone froze when the Owl House's front door burst open with great force, making Hooty squeak. While Amity was still stuck in her mind, trying to figure out the notes on the floor, Eda and Danielle faced the newcomer.
"Willow?" Both older women exclaimed in shock when they noticed the short witch with an outraged look, tousled hair, and her yellow jacket muddied.
"Hunter messaged me," She explained, breathing heavily. She must have been in a hurry to get there, "Tell me Luz is…" She paused when she noticed Amity kneeling on the floor, distressed just as she recalled from their childhood, "Oh, dang it, Blight," Willow whispered, her voice softening immediately.
"Sheʼs been like that for a while…" Eda explained.
"Yeah, I get it," Willow whispered, allowing Clover to return to her animal form as she approached her friend, "Give us some space," She looked at Danielle, "Just in case," She offered them a smile, and Eda understood what she meant.
"Dani, please stay close to me," The Owl Lady whispered, and the human recognized the worry in her voice.

"Hey, Blight," Willow addressed her friend, kneeling beside her, "Whatʼs got you so hyped, huh?" She added, looking at the notes and journals on the floor. She gulped, recognizing Odalia's handwriting.
"She can't talk…" Danielle whispered.
"Yeah, I know, I know. I've seen her like that before," Willow whispered with a delicate smile, "Seeing Luz turn must have freaked her out," She said with understanding and smiled, trying to look Amity in the eye.
The mute witch kept her gaze still, frozen at the journals as her fingers continued. Her ears twitched unevenly, and her upper body kept rocking. Her breathing was fast and irregular, but she did not stop.
"Hey, Ami," Willow addressed the witch softly, "Can you show me what the problem is?" She asked, knowing her friend was not able to form words.
The simple question made Amity look up, but she could not look into Willow's green eyes. She parted her lips as if she tried to speak up. An incomprehensible mumble escaped the pink lips.
"Titan, over twenty years old, and she still has the same behaviors…" Willow thought, watching her friend.
"B-B-B-B…" Amity tried to speak when she used her left index finger to point at one of the journals.
"It's okay, don't force yourself," Willow said softly, hovering above the journal, "Iʼm not fluent in Demonic…" She added, and Amity became more anxious.
"B-B-Bea…" The Heiress tried to speak, but she could not. She released a feral, aggressive hiss, slanting her ears, shocking Danielle with its intensity.
"It's okay, don't get frustrated," Willow offered reassuringly. Amity let out a frustrated growl, but her right hand did not stop tapping.

"Ami?" Willow risked touching the lavender-haired witch, who immediately froze in all her movements. Her ring finger stopped at her thumb, and she looked deep into the green eyes.
"W-Wi… Wheee…" Amity stuttered and then gulped with struggle. The short witch paled instantaneously, recalling the hybrid she had to burn, "Willow…" The Heiress gasped, tilting her head and squinting as if she were looking at the woman for the first time in her life, "Half-a-witch, Willow?" She whispered, and to Danielle's surprise, the said witch smiled and nodded energetically.
"Yeah, Ami, it's me," Willow confirmed, sniffling slightly, wiping a tear from her eye, chasing away the memories of what she had seen in Odalia's laboratory.
"H-h-half-a-witch…" Amity suddenly stood up frantically, and her fingers started tapping again, faster than before.
"Amity?" Danielle stepped forward before Eda stopped her, touching her shoulder.
"Careful," Eda whispered, "She doesn't know how powerful she is," She reminded, and Danielle nodded in understanding.
"B-B-Bea…" Amity tried again, her eyes roaming frantically the witches and room before her, "Ah!" She exclaimed, hitting her head with her left hand while the right increased pace.
"Pathetic!" Odalia's voice echoed in her head.
"No! Shut up!" Amity suddenly exclaimed, her eyes illuminating with the magenta glow.
"Amity!" Danielle approached the witch, ignoring Eda's attempt to stop her.
"Be careful, that's not her glow," Willow warned, and Danielle did not have to be told twice. She knew Amityʼs magic was darker, more fuchsia-like.
"B-B-B-Bea…" The panicked woman tried again, more frustrated with herself.
"Shh, shh, easy, Cariño. Let's take a deep breath," Danielle whispered reassuringly, trying to calm the witch down, "Breathe with me," She encouraged and placed her hands on the witchʼs shoulders. Willow and Eda shared a hesitant look, but they allowed Danielle to do her thing, "Thatʼs it, inhala, exhala," She guided the Heiress, who hesitantly followed her example.
"Wow…" Willow whispered, "Did she just get through to her?"
"I'm not even surprised," Eda whispered in awe, watching the human with disbelief and pride, "She can tame the wildest beast," She added and was shocked to hear the short witch growl, letting her head down in defeat.
"Please tell me you don't mean yourself," Willow whimpered, making Eda snort.
"What!? No! Hah!" The older witch chuckled, "But now that you mention it…"
"Beasty!" Amityʼs exclamation brought Eda and Willow back to the situation at hand, "No!" She moved away from Danielle. Her aura began to swirl delicately around her feet.
"Amity?" The human whispered worriedly. She did not notice that Eda and Willow were immediately beside her, "Take a deep breath. You can put order to these thoughts. Think back," She continued, ignoring the threat.
"No!" Amity tugged her hair with her left hand while her right one increased its pace.

"I'm getting out!" Amity roared before she lowered herself into an offensive position as if readying for an attack. She presented her lengthened nails and hissed ferally, ruffling her hair, "Ah! You can't!" She fell to her knees like a lifeless puppet, and her body stiffened.
"It's okay. You're not alone," Danielle followed her to the floor, taking hold of her shoulders and applying comforting pressure, watching the witch carefully.
Amityʼs ears fluttered in panic, her eyes roamed the room frantically, and her chest heaved heavily while her magic roamed, circling her body like an increasing wildfire. The parted lips quivered in panic, letting out mumbling whispers while she tried to comprehend everything.
"N-n-not… Alone…" Amity stammered.
Another wave of magenta flow erupted the pale body, making Danielle hold her breath for a moment while Willow held Eda back to let the human do what she always did best - be the mother Amity deserved.
"~You were always alone!~" Amity let out a growl so low, everyone could have sworn she was possessed by some evil entity, "~Pathetic excuse of an Heiress!~" She continued. The magenta light in her eyes was so intense it seemed to liquefy.
"Amity?" Danielle asked worriedly, not understanding what was happening.
"Shut up!" Amity roared in her usual tone, grabbing her head with both hands. She clenched her eyes shut, and a pained frown filled her face, "Shut up!" She repeated, and the heels of her palms massaged her temples.
Suddenly, her back arched violently, and her hands fell to the floor. Her head lolled back as her heaving chest and shaking palms faced the ceiling, freezing her in the painful position and scaring everyone.
"~Give up, you pathetic excuse for a Blight!~" Amity roared in a low, sinister voice before violently falling on all fours, chuckling grimly.
"I'm…" The Heirress gasped, gulping loudly, "Not…" She tried to straighten herself, "Giving up!" She roared, trying to regain control, retracting her nails.
Amity chuckled maniacally, lifting her head and showing off her fangs as her face was covered with stray lavender hair. Danielle worriedly watched her expression and her glowing eyes.
"Mija," The human whispered unknowingly.
"Te extraño también," Amity choked out, making everyone hold their breath in shock and disbelief.
"Amity?" Willow gasped, but there was no time to react.
The powerful wave of magical energy erupted the witch, who threw her head back, arching her spine again. The fingers stiffened in a claw-like position while her nails lengthened again. She could not breathe properly, letting out raspy and painful gasps.
"It's okay, Cariño," Danielle whispered supportively, ignoring her discomfort as she grabbed Amity's upper body and guided her to the floor, "Youʼre not alone, Mija," Her voice shook.
Danielle brushed the stray lavender locks off the pale face. She cradled the head delicately, ensuring the witch was safe. Amity's eyes, hidden behind the veil of her motherʼs spell, were filled with pain, begging for it to stop, but she was determined never to give up.
"AAAAA!" The lavender-haired witch roared in agony, and her magic roamed free.
"Dani," Eda whispered worriedly, but the human did not let go of the witch.
"Shit," Willow gasped, watching her friend lose control, writhing on the floor.
"Luz!" Amity gasped, gulping, trying to regain control over her body, "It's… Wrong…" She tried again, doing her best to fight through the pain, "Youʼre wrong!" She yelled, forcing herself away from the human and to all fours against her body's stiffness.
"Amity!" Willow and Danielle exclaimed in unison while the called-out witch forced herself to her forehands, breathing heavily, fighting against her mind.
"Thatʼs it, Boots. Don't give up," Eda thought, watching the young witch with pride.
"AAAAA!" Amity let out another guttural roar and saw a strange flash of a vision before her eyes, "Shut it! Bird-brain!" She choked, struggling to take another breath.
"Amity?" Danielle risked and caressed the delicate back in calming circles.
"Luz!" Amity moaned in pain, and her nails scratched the floor. Her back arched down while she lowered her head, ears fluttering, "Cliff…" She gasped, turning to her bag.
"~Forget about that animal!~" The Heiress roared in a possessed-like voice.
"Shut up!" Amity argued aggressively, "Ah!" She extended her hand, and the elixir-filled vial flew into her hand.
"Wow," Willow whispered in awe.
"No spell circle," Eda noticed with wide eyes.
"You could have augmented my memories, but you didn't wipe the memories of Strigi out of my Mind Scapes, huh? Bitch?" Amity gasped heavily, slowly turning to her back, clenching the vial with all she had, "Youʼre not gonna win," She mewled before letting out a maniacal chuckle and forcing herself up with a strained whimper.
"Mija," Danielle helped her to her feet, eyeing her worriedly, "Are you with us?" She asked, noting how the witch still seemed stuck in her mind.
A magenta glow still covered Amityʼs eyes. Her left brow twitched, and her slanted ears moved unevenly as if she were hearing someone in the room. Her behavior worried everyone, as she changed from being mute to arguing with the Inner Demon, using magic without the spell circle.
"~You!~" Amityʼs voice lowered to an impossible growl, and her right hand suddenly clenched on Danielle's throat while the other released the elixir, "~Youʼre fond of her, aren't you?~" Her lips widened in a maniacal grin, pushing the human toward the wall.
"Dani," Eda whispered, trying to act, but Willow stopped her, knowing it would just endanger Danielle.
"~What is it that drags her to humans?~" Amity asked and lifted her left hand, fingers wide as claws, nails lengthened dangerously, "~I'm gonna enjoy this…~" She whispered venomously.
Everyone froze in fear when Amity's left hand ignited a green flame, illuminating the room with an emerald glow. Danielle looked up weakly at the witch and felt the delicate squeezes on her neck.

"Gah! Shut up!" Amity roared in her normal voice, looking aside.
The Heiress released a feral hiss, tying her brows in a frustrated frown, and she focused on the flame above her left palm. It slowly changed from emerald to blue, violet, and finally back to fuchsia.
"Stop!" Amity roared and looked back at the human in her grasp, trying to unsqueeze her hand.
"~Oh, Little Miss Perfect, never good enough for her Mommy…~" The Inner Demon mocked.
Danielle could not look away from how the witch's expression, posture, and tone changed when her body seemed to be taken over. It looked like the young woman was slowly breaking free.
"SHUT UP!" Amity hollered, extinguishing her left hand and grabbing her right forearm, pulling it, fighting to regain control over her body, "She was never my Mother!" She continued as her right hand finally let go of the human's throat.
"Fucking hell," Willow whispered in shock and fear, standing beside Eda as they watched her friend.
"I need to get out…" Amity whimpered weakly, taking a small step away. Her sight became blurry again.
"Talk to me, Bebé," Danielle tried to get her fostering's attention.
Amity grabbed her temple again, tied her brows in discomfort, and whimpered in pain. Her knees trembled, feeling weak beneath her, making the witch lose her balance momentarily, almost falling.
"Easy, easy," Danielle said, helping her back to the floor.
"The cliff!" Amity roared again.
The swirl of her aura increased. The human wondered why it felt so different from the times her magic surrounded them in the Human Realm. In this world, it was suffocating and too powerful for a magic-less being.
"Sh-sh-she needs… Elixir," Amity gasped, suddenly making more sense and eye contact with Danielle from behind the magenta glow.
"Amity…" Danielle whispered weakly. She could not continue when the witch threw herself at her, hugging her desperately, shaking deliriously.
"H-h-help…" Amity whimpered weakly, "Iʼm here… I keep trying… Get out…" She could not control herself, not realizing the words that left her lips.
"It's okay, you're safe," Danielle returned the hug, closing her eyes, "I'm not gonna leave you… Mija," She reaffirmed. Suddenly, her heart rate increased in panic.
Danielle realized she could not feel the air enter her lungs no matter how hard she tried. She opened her eyes and saw the witch's powerful energy surrounding her and Amity. Yet, she was not about to let go of the young woman who needed her, trying to calm her down.
"Dani, no!" Eda called, but Willow stopped her again.
"Don't! You'll startle her and make it worse!" The young witch argued.
"I will get out, I will…" Amity mumbled incoherently.
"Shh… Shh…" Danielle whispered, feeling how her lungs closed up, "I know you'll be back. You're so strong… Mi preciosa hija," She added hoarsely, struggling with every other breath, "Iʼm waiting for you," She choked out when the entire world became blurry.
"Can I? Now?" Eda looked at Willow impatiently, feeling Danielle's weakness.
"I'm just as confused…" The short witch admitted.
"Okay, that's it! She just let me back," Eda jumped forward and retrieved the human from the breathtaking hold. Willow helped her detach Amity from Danielle, "Can you handle her?" She asked when she took the barely conscious woman into her grasp, "I need to get her away, to let her breathe," She explained, and the other witch nodded.
"Amity, easy, you're not alone," Willow reassured the panicking woman.
"Dani!?" Amity's ears slanted in panic, twitching nervously while her eyes roamed the room as if she could not see anything, "¿Mamá?" The other witches froze, hearing what the Heiress said.
"Sheʼs safe. She's right here," Willow reassured, eyeing how Danielle lay limp, unconscious in Eda's arms. The older witch watched Amity worriedly before taking her girlfriend upstairs, "Youʼre strong. Calm down. I know seeing Luz was a lot…"
"Luz!" Amity exclaimed, her body stiffening again, "Cliff!" She whined pathetically.
Willow secured her friend at the last possible moment. The Heiress's body straightened on the floor, and while her back was still arched, she started seizing, releasing powerful waves of magic and crying abomination slime.
"It hasn't happened in a while," Willow thought, keeping her friend safe while Eda took the human away to care for her, "I donʼt know if it's a good or bad thing, but we need to go look for Luz!"
Suddenly, Amity's magic disappeared while her body still shook uncontrollably. Foaming saliva left her lips, her nails scratched the floor, her eyes rolled up, and her twitching ears hugged her head as Willow held her head securely, worried about her friend.
"N-no…" Amity whimpered when her seizure started to calm down.
"Shh, it's okay, Ami. You're safe," Willow tried to reassure and soothe her friend, but the Heiress was getting more anxious by the minute, trying to pull away, "Come on, Blight, what's wrong?"
Willow never had a chance to prepare for what transpired. It was too late when she finally understood why Amity was trying to escape her touch. All magic that could not leave her system during her seizure erupted her body in one powerful wave that sent the short witch flying to the wall, where she crashed the framed Eda's wanted poster and fell unconscious on the couch.
"N-no…" Amity whispered, scared of herself, seeing that her magic could hurt someone like that.
She slowly sat up, still shaken from everything, unable to recall what had just happened. Amity was sure she had just come over to the Owl House. Now, she was on the living room floor, and it looked like someone had fought there.
A sudden image of the tree Luz created on the cliff flashed before her eyes, blinding her and causing her a splitting headache. Amity groaned in discomfort, grabbing her head, trying to regain calm and control over her body. She blinked rapidly, focusing her gaze, which fell into the elixir vial. In an instant, she tied her brows in determination and ignored everything.
Her aching body did not matter. The uncertainty of whatever happened was not important. Amity had one thought in mind - find and help Luz. She grabbed the vial and her cloak and got to her feet shakily, leaving the Owl House and heading toward the place where, for an unknown reason, she knew she would find her girlfriend.
Eda sat beside Danielle, watching the woman wince and finally breathe freely. The human tied her brows and released a delicate groan when she started to come to. The witch's ears perked up only to slant again worriedly when she noticed the bruises forming on the tan neck.
"Titan, I know I would do the same for Luz, but that was reckless…" Eda thought, watching Danielle slowly open her eyes.
A few delicate blinks later, the human's eyes shot open and roamed the room frantically. With a whimper, she abruptly sat up in bed.
"Amity!" Danielle gasped with fear.
"Woah, easy there," Eda grabbed her girlfriend's shoulders and looked at the human's disturbed expression.
"I need to go back," Danielle urged, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Danielle!" Eda exclaimed sternly, getting the other womanʼs attention, "You got hurt trying to help her, I can't…" She paused, and her eyes roamed the tan face frantically.
"Oh," Danielle nodded, suddenly understanding, "You don't want me to get hurt like Luz was, trying to help you?" She asked, and the witch looked away in shame, confirming her suspicions, "It's okay, Eda," She caressed the pale cheek affectionately, "I still love you too," She added. The witch looked back at her with nervously fluttering ears and unsure expression.
"Y-you do?" Eda choked, gulping nervously, gold eyes roaming the human's face in uncertainty.
"Of course I do," Danielle chuckled, looking at the witch lovingly.
"Are you sure you didn't get hypoxia?" Eda asked teasingly, raising her eyebrow and watching the human suspiciously.
"You think I would let you mark me if I didn't?" Danielle teased with a smirk.
THUD!
A sudden sound coming from downstairs made them freeze in their actions. They looked at each other with worry, and it took Danielle barely any time to jump out of bed. Eda immediately had to hold the human up to support her in her frantic, wobbling strut downstairs.
They entered the living room, parting their lips in shock. The room looked like a small bomb exploded in the middle of it. The front doors were left open, and the wind swung them sideways as Hooty was barely conscious.
Papers, journals, and books were thrown around, and the short witch in the yellow jacket and broken glasses was sprawled on the couch underneath the broken glass frame, marked with her blood.
"Willow!" Danielle gasped and quickly approached the young witch.
"Oh, Boots…" Eda whispered worriedly.
The Owl Lady closed the front door once she was sure the house-demon was safe. She then drew a spell circle to clean up the place, analyzed the scorch marks, and noticed that the elixir was missing.
"D-Dani?" Willow asked, her voice quivering. She tied her brows and released a pained groan, "Oh, Titan, my head," She mumbled while the human helped her up, "Ah, fuck…" She whispered, taking off her broken glasses.
"Don't move," Eda addressed the young witch. Danielle followed her partner's gaze and noticed the bloody mark on the broken frame, "Hold Danielle's hand. It's gonna sting a bit, but we have no time for pleasantries," She explained.
"Hurry up, we need to find them, ah!" Willow exclaimed, not realizing the witch already started healing her, "You need to know what we found out," She hissed in pain, "It's bad guys," She looked up, and the human paled down.
"What did you find?" Danielle asked sternly, barely controlling her emotions.
The two pairs of green eyes met, and the short witch took a deep breath. She knew they needed to hurry up, but those mothers deserved to know what she had helped Hunter uncover in Odalia's laboratory.
Amity ran through the forest, ignoring the mud and twigs scratching her face. She breathed heavily, releasing raspy gasps while her steps echoed through the woods. Her hand, with lengthened nails, clenched the elixir vial. That day was definitely getting too long for her.
"SCREECH!" She heard in the distance, letting her know she was close.
"Luz…" Amity whispered and rushed forward.
"Pathetic!" Echoed across her mind. She shook it off, barely holding onto reality.
The witch clenched her jaw and focused solely on finding and helping Luz. She could feel her body aching, her vision was getting blurry every other moment, and her sense of self was disrupted. She knew only one thing for a fact. Her instinct told her that she needed to help the human.
"SCREECH!" Another shriek was heard, and the witch finally exited the forest and found the human-demon hybrid by the cliff where they had their drawing therapy session.
"A lot of courage comes from support," A soft voice echoed in Amity's mind, but she chose to ignore it.
"L-L-L-Luz?" The witch stuttered nervously, and the Beast immediately focused their pitch-black eyes on her, greeting her with another screech, "It's o-o-okay…" She tried to convince the human while she struggled to speak, overwhelmed by the situation.
The creature before her eyed her carefully. Whoever it was, Luz or the demon, it did not matter. They both loved the witch who presented all signs of overstimulation. How Amity's eyes roamed the bird-like body, how her ears twitched and moved unevenly, her nails still lengthened, and her speech impaired, it all helped Luz realize her girlfriend was on the brink of collapse.
"I-I-I have y-y-your el-elixir…" Amity whispered, and she stiffened momentarily. The human recognized her internal rage at her struggle.
Luz wanted to reassure her that everything would be fine. Seeing the witch so distressed made her and the Owl Demon cooperate while in the Beast's body. They sat before the distressed woman, and despite their fear of pain, they gestured to the witch to help them with the elixir.
"I'm s-s-sorry…" Amity struggled and smiled delicately when she felt the feathery face rub on her cheek with a low purr, "F-f-f-fluffy…" She added, trying to calm herself down.
The witch decided to stay quiet, frustrated with her nervous stutter. She uncorked the vial and helped Luz drink up. The human tried to cooperate, fighting against the taste, then moved away. She tried to keep the pain in, but the feeling of having bones crushed to fit a correct size was unbearable. No matter how fast it passed.
The giant wings shrank, and the hind legs snapped loudly. The loud screech started to turn into a distorted yell and soon faded into human-like pained whimpers. The fur disappeared, and the feathers hid underneath the skin. Luz lifted her arms and looked at them with horror.
Amity could not understand why she was punished with jolts of pain erupting from every part of her body as she saw the human regain her natural form. She was too scared and overwhelmed to even think about it, blaming her compassion and care for Luz for her agony.
Soon enough, the naked form of the tan, scar-littered body was wobbling before the Heiress, who stared at her girlfriend wide-eyedly. Luz watched her claws disappear before barely focusing on the witch. Amity removed her cloak and covered the human just in time for gravity to catch her in its grasp, making her fall into the scarred embrace.
"A-Ami…" Luz tried to speak, weak from her transformation, but a warm, delicate hug silenced her as she lay on the ground. Amity held her upper body close to her heart.
The witch started rocking again. Her ears slanted with relief as she kept the other woman close. She did not notice she started crying abomination, unable to contain her power. Amity did not dare to name whatever she felt toward the human. She just knew she could never let go.
The warm, Boiling Sea breeze washed over them, and despite the warm day, Amity could feel the human tremble in her embrace. The witch pulled slightly away and noticed the feverish blush and the cold sweat on the tan face, making her worry for the other woman.
"H-h-hold… On…" Amity struggled to speak.
The witch stood up, wobbling weakly. She pulled Luz in a bride-like embrace, turning around to take her home. She blinked her blurred vision away, released a heavy sigh, and braced for a trek through the forest.
The human released a pained whimper when she felt the firm hold underneath her back. She knew she needed to focus on the witch, chasing the pain away, but it was not a simple task with all they had been through.
"A-Amity…" Luz tried to speak up, but powerful shivers paralyzed her.
"Dang it, I don't remember when it was this bad…" She thought, watching the witch's pained expression.
Amity let out labored gasps through clenched teeth, whimpering with each step while her slanted ears twitched deliriously. Her golden eyes released more abomination-mixed tears while she could feel herself on the brink of collapse. She walked toward the Owl House, unknowingly stepping through the sticky mud.
"What the…" The witch wondered when she felt something holding her right leg, forbidding her to move forward.
Amity turned slightly to look at her foot while keeping the human close. She blinked rapidly with confusion when she noticed the mud she stepped in harden, immobilizing her right leg. The witch's breathing hitched in fear. She tried to step back and free herself, but it was not a simple task while keeping the human safe in her hold.
"My, my…" A sudden, feminine, vicious voice startled the Heiress, making her lift her head and face the person, "So kind of you to wrap this gift for me," She added, stepping out of the shadow of the forest.
Amityʼs entire body stiffened, and her nails lengthened further when she tightened her hold on Luz. The golden eyes forced her tears away when she noticed the pink-haired triclops before her.
"B-B-B-Boscha?" Amity stuttered, not understanding what was happening. Luckily, she unblocked enough memories to know she could not trust the other witch, "W-w-what…?"
"Sh-sh-shut up already!" Boscha mocked the Heiress, approaching the woman, eyeing her with pity, "And to think you could have been the most powerful witch of our generation," She hissed, towering above the pale witch, who cowered in pain and exhaustion.
Amity did not trust herself to speak. She watched the triclops and took note of how she was dressed. It seemed almost as if she ransacked her motherʼs closet, creating a mix of a semi-casual look of Grudby winged boots, suit pants, and an opened black shirt that obscured a red sleeveless shirt, matching her shoes perfectly.
"I'm gonna take this now," Boscha whispered venomously as she tried to retrieve the human from her hold.
"N-n-no!" Amity exclaimed, trying to release her magic in a warning or to fight back, but she was even too tired to free her leg from the stone, "D-don't!"
"You never make it simple," Boscha whispered in defeat, "That ought to calm you down," She added and drew a red spell circle in the air, creating a high-pitched whistle.
"AAAAA!" Amity roared, kneeling in pain, but she did not dare to even think of letting go of Luz to cover her ears.
"Why do you always have to be so stubborn!?" Boscha yelled at her in disbelief, dropping the spell, "This was not supposed to end like this!" She added and forcefully brought Amity's face up, making her look at her, "Since the moment you protected that pathetic animal, you've gone soft, Blight!" She added, watching her with disgust.
She let go of the pale, tear, and abomination-stained face and slapped Amity with the top of her hand, making her fall to the ground, enjoying how she could finally release her frustration.
"Ugh…" The Heiress gasped, ignoring everything, focusing on keeping Luz secure.
The human shivered feverishly in her hold. The hazel-brown eyes fluttered weakly, trying to stay awake, but her sore, exhausted body could not move, react, or respond. She never was able to stay awake after retransformation.
"Now," Boscha stepped on Amity's right knee, breaking her immobilized leg with a loud crack.
"AAAAA!" Amity cried out in pain, losing control of everything.
"Iʼm gonna take that and finish what your mother started," Boscha explained, and with a swift move, she retrieved the limp body from Amity's weak grip.
"N-n-n-no… D-d-d-don't…" Amity reached out, trying to get hold of Luz, but the pain in her leg paralyzed her.
"Pathetic," Boscha spat with disgust and activated her winged boots.
"No!" Amity wailed again, watching the woman she just started a relationship with being taken away.
The witch wanted to call out again, but she suddenly felt a tug on her broken leg, sending another wave of agony through her body. She looked down and noticed the ground rumble before her other leg was encased in stone. Amity had no time to react when the same thing happened to her wrists, pulling her up and forcing her forward to her knees.
"Long time, Blight," The Heiress blinked her tears away and saw the short witch emerge from the ground.
The golden eyes roamed the woman's appearance. The muddy brown coat, black trousers, heavy boots, and semi-short, dark purple hair looked familiar. The orange, intense gaze brought fear and anger to Amity's heart.
"Oh, Iʼm gonna enjoy that," The strange witch added, sending a powerful punch at the pale face.
"W-w-why?" Amity struggled to speak but looked at the other witch, "W-w-who…?" She could not form words, and her struggle made her opponent chuckle.
"Right… You had your mind broken," The other woman hissed venomously, "Bria. You better remember that name," The shorter witch grinned before she hit Amity again and assaulted her with another hand.
The Heiress could not feel the next hits on her face. Her mind took her away from the pain. She could only think about how to get out and find Luz. Despite the physical pain, her mind worked overtime, considering all of her options.
"Up-pup-pup!" Bria summoned a thin pillar of rock that encased Amity's right slender palm, "No spell casting, Blight," She whispered viciously, forcing the rock to crush her hand.
"AAAAA!" The Heiress roared in pain so loudly she was sure it would peel off her throat or wake the Fallen Titan up.
"That'll teach you how to behave," Bria growled before continuing her furious assault.
"W-w-why…?" Amity mumbled, using a moment when the other witch massaged her knuckles.
"Because she would always choose you," She hissed in reply, summoning a rock gauntlet before connecting it with Amity's face time after time again.
"Mommy, stop…" A strange vision flashed before the Heiress's eyes. She saw Odalia's furious face, staring at her with intense ferocity, "Mommy, please…" She cried while her mother punched her, smashing her tiny, juvenile body with a staff time after time again.
"I was never good enough…" Amity realized, losing her fight to stay conscious.
