Chapter 6: New teacher and surprise shop

Ruby POV

It's Monday and for some reason we were told to meet outside in a clearing in emerald forest.

"So why did they have us meet for this new class outside anyway?" asks Yang.

"Well supposedly we will need a lot of space for what this teacher has in store." states Weiss.

"Do we even know who this teacher is?"

"Nope all I know is this is his first day teaching here." I look a bit concerned at that.

"Are you sure there's nothing else? Not even a name" I ask.

"Nope but it looks like we're gonna find out soon."

Faebith POV

"So are you sure you don't want me to warn them ahead of time?" I ask with a raised brow.

"Meh. This way's more fun." Says a man in a vine robe.

"Alright. Just remember not to kill them. I'm not reviving anyone with my hoard."

"How is that coming by the way?"

"I do what we did before. Steal from the gold dragons. Sure they send people to try and kill me but I mean they can't do much. Afterwords I have them guard the hoard under contract."

"So that's what's been going on with the gold dragons."

"Yup. I also bring you a trillion gold every time. Tribute in a way."

"You should bring more."

"Fuck off. What does a reaper need with gold." He just smirks. "Anyways. I've gotten to the 25 placement. Don't even know what to call that."

"I see. So!" He says clapping his hands. "What can you tell me about this so called class?"

Ruby POV

"Why do I feel like I should be running?" I ask out loud.

"You're just paranoid like that sis." says Yang with a grin.

"No. If I've learned one thing it's to listen to my gut and my gut says run." Soon the sky starts to darken with storm clouds and I hear lots of mumbles of 'what's going on' and 'There wasn't suppose to be rain'. My eyes however go wide. "Oh no."

Faebith POV

We walk out with storm clouds in the air and I sigh. "You really love to make an entrance."

"Of course. Every Val needs to make an entrance." We walk in front of all the students and I see a smile on the mans face. "Hello everyone. My name is Nelion and I'm here to teach you the most important rule of a fight. Dodging." He looks at Ruby. "Nice to see you once again Ruby. I know you know about this training up close." She whimpers a bit. "Now then we-" He snaps and I see Ruby jump out of the group while everyone else gets hit with a lightning bolt. "I never said I'd be fair. Life isn't fair after all. Now get dodging." He snaps again and soon lightning starts falling like crazy. Multiple students get hit again and Nelion sighs. "For every strike that hits you is forty push ups and ten laps. WITH WEIGHTS!"

"Still brutal. Just like back then."

"Want to join them?" He asks with a sickly sweet smile.

"Nope. Besides, I'm just here for the show." Another few students get hit with lightning.

"That's what I thought."

After some time and a few laughs I hear someone approach next to me. I look over to see Glynda looking at the training. "This is what you call training?"

"Don't disrespect the process." I say. "Besides Ruby knows this training well. Just look." We look at Ruby to see her dodging lightning like her life depends on it. "It works. Soon everyone will be able to dodge."

"I hope you know you're cleaning up the mess."

"Nah. Nelion's got that covered. Now is there something you need?"

"Yes. We require your presence in Ozpin's office for the matter of Ms. Rose's Father."

"Ah. Alright I'll be up there in a bit." I look to Nelion. "Clean up afterwords and thanks for this." I jump right as a lightning bolt hits where I just was. "Nice try." I say as I walk away. When I get up to the office I see Ozpin behind his desk with Glynda next to him. Leaning against the wall looking impatient is Taiyang.

Taiyang looks at me with a raised brow. "Glynda. Who is this?"

"Name's Darastrix." I say with a smile as he doesn't recognize me. "Although we already met years ago."

"I'm pretty sure I would remember if I met anyone with white hair. And yellow eyes."

"Ah! Yes. I forgot you've only seen me in my actual form."

His eyebrows raise. "Actual form?"

"Yes. You know." I smirk. "This form." Soon green fire envelops my body and Standing in front of everyone was a creature with a lizard like head with the Blackest of scales, amber eyes with slits for pupils, and white hair. It wore nothing but leather armor from it's head down to it's feet. However underneath looked to be a type of skintight suit. The wings on it's back had huge spikes on them and smaller spikes all over it's body. The most interesting thing was that its left arm was robotic.

"What the hell?" Taiyang yells as he recognizes me. Ozpin and Glynda however look more surprised that I've been hiding my true form this whole time.

"Remember me now?"

"You're the one that killed Summer!" He rushes me and goes to punch my face but stops dead in his tracks. "What the-"

"It's no use. Telekinetic. You can't touch me unless I say." I walk around him. "As for summer." A portal opens up and I reach in. As I release Taiyang he spins around to see me pull Summer out of the portal. Summer for her part looks shocked.

"Could you have done that at any moment?"

"Yup."

"Did I ever mention you're terrifying?"

"Nope. But good to know I can still strike fear in your heart."

"Summer?" Taiyang asks in a small voice.

Summer smiles. Although its a cold smile. One with only anger behind it. "Tai. We have a lot to talk about."

Ruby POV (After classes)

"Thank god that's over." I sigh as I land on the bed.

"What was that teacher thinking? He could have killed us!" shouts Weiss.

"He can't." I feel everyone's eyes on me.

"What do you mean he can't Ruby? Do you know something about him?" asks Blake.

I sit up and look straight ahead. "You heard his name. But he was also a member of my master's party back in the day." Everyone's eyes go wide at that. "He was a druid who absorbed half of Loki's powers, died in the ensuing fight and came back as a Reaper."

"A reaper?" questions Yang.

"Yeah. You know... Death." Everyone stays silent. "Did you all not know there was more than one." They shake their heads. "Well now you do."

Yang shakes her head. "How about we go into town and get our minds off of this?"

"Might as well. I need to find out how to get more hand mortar rounds."

"I could use a few more books." pipes in Blake.

"Then it's settled. Lets go." Shouts Yang.

I can't believe no one sells hand mortar rounds. It's been a few hours and no luck in finding anything regarding hand mortars. Apparently they were out of style. "Everyone got what they needed right?" I ask.

"Yup. Got some parts for bumblebee and some more rounds." says Yang.

"I have some dust. Though I'm surprised at the increase in price." Says Weiss, looking over her purchases.

"I got a few new books and a whetstone for my blade." Says Blake as she looks over her book.

"Good. I guess I'll just have to figure something else out for the hand mortar I own." Just then I stop in my tracks. I take a few steps back and look at the building next to me. No sign. Black curtains. Ominous door. It can't be.

"Ruby?" asks Yang a bit confused.

"I'm gonna check in here real quick. But first." I reach into my bag and pull out a block of a white powdery substance.

"Ruby? Is that what I think it is?" Asks Weiss disturbed.

"Yup. It's a preventative measure."

Yang grabs me and pulls me close. "Why would you need cocaine?" she half whispers half shouts.

"Trust me. It's for a reason." I get put down and we all go in, my team a bit reluctantly. I look around and see weapons and gadgets of all kinds on the walls. Then the door slams shut. Aaaand there goes the lights.

"Hello Ruby." comes a distorted voice. "I want to play a game."

"Nam cut it out. You're scaring my team." I yell out. I feel my team still tensed behind me.

"I don't know who you're referring to." Just then there is a small argument from the distorted voice.

"Nam. I know it's you and Galm. Cut it out."

"FUUUCK!" Yells a somewhat high pitch but baritone voice. The lights turn on and there behind the counter is a gnome with a dark red hat. "What do you want."

"Good to see you too Nam. How you doing?"

"Fine. Now what do you want? Did that damn master of yours send you?"

"Wait wait wait." Says Weiss. "Is he the reason you needed that block of cocaine?"

Just then there is rapid but small footsteps. From behind the counter a second gnome jumps out with it's arms out stretched. And going straight for Weiss's throat.

Oh boy. Weiss said the one word you never say around these two. Well she had to know sooner or later. But hey. Maybe she'll understand why Ruby is the way she is now. The name Nam is pronounced like Vietnam and Galm is... well Galm. Also this was all I had written up so it may be some time before I get the next one out. Anyway. Until next time. Stack out.
