Hey everyone. So the character I was talking about last chapter was Named Palps. Now you'll get to see him in all his glory. Hope you enjoy.
Chapter 8: Goblin and Lupin?
Faebith POV
Ahhhh. I love gliding through the sky. Always so peaceful. I fly through the air and enjoy the quiet. Until I spot a crowd and see two people rolling around in the middle of them. And one of those two was Ruby. With the other being a odd shade of... "God damn it Palps." I glide into an alley and change into my human form. I walk out and push through the crowd. Once I make it to the front I see Ruby and Palps glaring at each other. Ruby with a flintlock aimed at Palps and Palps holding his death yoyo at his side, ready to flick it toward Ruby. "What the fuck are you two doing?!"
They both look at me and I noticed what Palps was wearing. He was a goblin so the green skin stands out but his clothes were his Preacher clothes. A nice suit with a top hat that slides along the ground just a bit. He sees me and smiles. "Oh. Hey Faebith."
"Don't 'Hey Faebith' me Palps. What the fuck are you guys doing fighting in the middle of the street?" I ask sternly. They both look anywhere but at me and I look over to the side to see the rest of Ruby's team. "You!" I point at Weiss. "What happened?"
Weiss gulps a bit but answers calmly. "All I know is Ruby was telling us about Nam and Galm then that... Thing started talking about someone named Mantorok?"
I slowly pan over to Palps. "Palps. You are not having anyone on this planet sign a contract."
"Oh come on." Complains Palps. "I need more people for my contracts."
"Palps. We aren't even on Samura."
He looks confused. "Uh Faebith. I think YOU might be confused." I just point up at the moon that is still visible in the sky. He looks up and just stares at it for a bit. "So that's why everyone was looking at me weird."
"Yeah Palps. They've never seen a goblin. Much less... one like you. Now go back before-" I smack a tentacle that appears out of a portal next to my head. "Knock it off. I know how to get to you too Mantorok. Don't make me come over there and make calamari out of you." The tentacle retreats into the portal and the portal closes. "Now you. Get." I open a portal under Palps that leads to the church back in the aasimarian kingdom. Once he's gone I turn back to Ruby. "You." She Straightens up. "Back to Beacon with you." I turn and start to head toward the shops.
Ruby POV
"You know something? I forgot how terrifying Faebith can be."
Weiss looks discouraged. "How can you forget how terrifying she can be?"
"When you're around her for a while you kinda get used to the weird everyday occurrences that pop up." I look to Weiss. "That and She's trained me for a while." I start walking toward Beacon and stumble a bit. Wait. Stumble? "uHoh." I reach down and grab the flask at my waist opening it and downing a good amount. Completely forgetting about Yang being behind me.
"Ruby." she asks with surreal calm to her voice.
"Yeah Yang." I ask with the flask still in hand.
"When did you start drinking?"
I open my mouth to say something and close it promptly. I look at the flask. Then back to her. "It helps." I then proceed to take another drink and keep walking.
Blake follows after shaking her head somehow just accepting that it's one of the quirks of being trained by Faebith. Weiss walks over to Yang and puts a hand on her shoulder. "Just accept it Yang."
Yang looks between everyone as they walk away and soon runs after them. "What do you mean it helps?"
Faebith POV
"Honestly Palps. Why do you have to follow me around and try and take my fucking people."
"They aren't yours yet and it's first come first served." He responds.
"No Palps. I called dibs. You know it. I know it. Mantorok knows it but want's to fuck me over. Which is why he sent you."
"Well maybe if you didn't burn your contract he wouldn't be so angry at you."
"You forced that contract and we both know it. I just took it back. Besides, he just doesn't want me to become more powerful than him." I look over to his empty plate. "More pie?"
"Yes." I put more pie onto his plate and go back to my own. "How is your hunt going anyway?"
"Slow. So many people but no good candidates. I need someone who can be as insane but reasonable as me." I look out the window and see a body slowly being dragged into an alley. But what really surprised me was pure Yellow eyes going back with the body. "God damn it. Gravedigger's here."
"You mean the Lupin?"
"Yup. We should probably stop him." We go across the street and see The Gravedigger pulling a body to a dead end. "Gravedigger."
"Ah. Hello. Did you know this man?" Says the Lupin.
"Gravedigger. You're not on Saruma. How did you even get here? Heck why are you here?"
"Well a gravedigger's work is never done. I go where I'm needed. In fact I remember a time I was helping a pirate and a black squirrel. At least I think it was a squirrel. He was fluffy but it was a little too fluffy. Like that cloud in the sky." He looks around and then back to us. "Hi." He says and raises a paw.
"Just... Go back to Saruma before you cause a panic."
"Okay... How do I get back? Usually I just end up where I'm needed so I don't know how to control it. But I'll go back when I figure out how to do it." He says deadly serious. He then looks at Palps. "Hi."
"No you need to go back now before someone see's you and mistakes you for a grimm." I open a portal and Point to it. "Go through there and it will bring you back to your shop."
He looks at me with confusion. "I have a shop. That sounds like me but at the same time I'm pretty sure I'd remember if I had a shop. How do you even-" I push him through lightly and he keeps walking while talking to himself. I close the portal and look at Palps.
"I will never get used to him."
"Yeah. He's a nice guy though." states Palps.
I stare at where the portal was a bit longer then look to Palps. "You didn't leave a random portal open did you?"
"They always close behind me. Why do you ask?"
"Trying to figure out how he got here. Ah well. We'll figure it out one day. Now lets go finish off that pie."
Shorter chapter this time due to the fact I had no idea how to push this one further. Till next time Stack out.
