Chapter 9 Forest of problems
Ruby POV
"Yes children. Forever falls is a beautiful place but remember we are here for the sap for Professor Peach." States Glynda.
Yup we were sent on an errand run. Not the first time in my time. Definitely not the last. "With as much time as I've had doing errands, you'd think I'd be used to it. But no. Always bad and boring." I state, a bit disheartened.
"Cheer up sis! We're finally out of a classroom! In the field!" Says Yang with enthusiasm.
"A field that was supposed to be cleared by the second Years. Not the same Yang." I look around and realize someone's missing. "Where's Jaune?"
"Last I saw he was with Cardin and company." Comes a voice from above. Everyone, except me of course, jumps at the voice.
"Master. Please stop appearing out of nowhere." Everyone looks up and sure enough Master Faebith was there in her human form. Long white hair, burning yellow eyes, and dressed in a black leather vest, black boots, leather pants, and a strange skin tight suit under all of it. Her left arm no longer flesh but a sleek robotic looking arm with sharp claws for fingers. Yup good old transfiguration magic at work with this one.
"Aren't you all suppose to be alert at all times? I could have ended you all at least a dozen times by now."
Everyone just stares at her. After a bit Pyrrha speaks up. "I don't believe we've ever met. I'm Pyrrha Nikos." She says with a practiced smile while offering her hand. Master hops down from the tree and is soon nose to nose with Pyrrha, staring into her eyes. Pyrrha is taken aback but doesn't move. In fact. It kind of looks like... Oh no.
"Master. You might want to stop. You're scaring her." Faebith turns to face me.
"I have to see what kind of person wears a fake smile. So far," She says as she looks back to Pyrrha. "I see someone who doesn't know when to speak her own mind. A people pleaser to the very end."
"And what's wrong with that?" asks Pyrrha with that same smile but with a little less enthusiasm.
"The strong walk over the weak. The strong speak their mind while the weak shy away. The strong do what they want within reason. The weak," She says as she gets closer to Pyrrha. "Roll over and do what their told. Like a dog."
"So which are you?" Asks Weiss with irritation.
Faebith turns to her. "If I had to chose. I'd say Strong. But I use my strength to help those I deem worthy." Before she can reply screams are heard. Sky, Dove, and Russel come running out of the trees.
"Ursa! Ursa!" Screams Russel. Faebith extends her arm out and grabs Russel as he passes.
"Why are you running? This is the life you chose is it not?"
"I can't take on an Ursa!?"
Faebith gives a dead look. "Then you already fail." She drops him and starts to walk toward where they came from, but not before yelling over her shoulder, "You may as well drop out now if you're scared of one Ursa." The rest of us start to follow at a faster pace. Worried about Juane.
When we get there, Juane is being tossed around like a rag doll. He runs in and goes for a slash to the head only for his shield arm to lift up right before the ursa's paw hits him. Looking carefully, I see a black hue around the shield before it vanishes. I look to Pyrrha and see her hand extended. I'll file that away for later.
"Holy crap Juane." says Cardin as he is helped up by Juane.
"Don't ever mess with my team. My... Friends ever again. Got it?" After that he starts to walk away. Before we go to follow I notice something a little ways off. Is that... A Kobold body?
"Ruby? You coming?" asks Weiss.
"Not yet." I say as I walk over to the body. Everyone else follows and gasp when they see the corpse. Cut clean in two.
"What is THAT?" asks Yang with surprise.
"A Kobold. Something from Saruma."
"What's it doing here?" Asks Blake.
"Don't know. The better question is, what killed it?"
"Ruby!" Calls out Faebith. "What are you doing? Your friend went that-a way." She comes over and her eyes go wide quickly. "Why the fuck is there a Kobold here?"
"I don't know." I say as I look around and see another. I go over and see a path of corpses. "The bodies lead further in."
"Well, Lets go have a look." Faebith says as she keeps walking. We keep going for a bit and little by little the bodies start to get more and more clumped up. We reach a clearing and in the middle of it is a pile of Kobold bodies. The stack is quite large.
"Looks like a good three hundred plus." I say. I look around for what could have caused this and see the bodies at the top start moving. I put a hand on my sword and the others do the same with their weapons. From out the bodies emerges an insect like creature with two arms on the right half of it's body and only one on the left. Where the other arm was suppose to be there was only a stub. The creature stood around two feet tall and raised a sword in the air. It's only left arm gripping a dagger in the side of it's body.
"HAMMER FUCK!" It yells.
I stand there dumbfounded while the others draw their weapons. I look over and see Faebith looking on dumbfounded as well. I look back. "Simba?" The creature looks at me and Faebith. It's mandibles click excitedly.
"HAMMER FUCK!" It yells again as it approaches. The others get ready for a fight but I put my arm up.
"It's alright guys. He's friendly." The others look on as the creature comes up and gives both me and Faebith a hug. "It's good to see you to Simba. How did you end up here?"
"Hammer fuck."
"Ahhhh. I see." Faebith says. "Same thing happened to Grave digger."
I turn to Faebith. "Grave digger is here?"
"I sent him back already."
I hear someone clear their throat and turn to see the rest of my team plus NPR of JNPR. "Care to introduce us to..." Weiss says as she motions to Simba.
"Ah. Right." I say a bit sheepishly. "Guys this is Simba. He's a Thri-Kreen." I turn to Simba. "Simba. This is Weiss, Blake, Yang, Pyrrha, Nora, and Ren."
"Hammer fuck." Simba says with a small bow.
"Why does he just keep saying hammer fuck?" asks Yang.
"Unfortunately. That's the only thing he knows how to say in Common."
"Hammer fuck." Simba repeats while nodding. He then turns to Faebith. "Hammer fuck?"
"Yeah no." Faebith says. "This is another world. If you want I can send you back?"
"Hammer fuck." Simba says while shaking his head. "Hammer fuck."
"In that case I can introduce you to someone who can send you to fight bigger creatures."
"Hammer fuck."
"I don't think they have any nearby. I can get you a machine of some kind."
"Hammer fuck."
"Okay fine. I'll get you a Wolf. Deal?" He nods.
"You can understand him?" asks Weiss in disbelief.
"I speak all languages known to man and gods. Of course I understand him. Ruby can understand him to a point as well." Weiss looks to me.
"I get some of the clicks confused." I say with a shrug.
"Hammer fuck." Simba says as he pulls out the dagger. Faebith heals the area immediately and he nods to her. Just then there's a low growl from the bushes up ahead. We all turn and two Ursa Majors crawl out and start to slowly approach. We all get ready but Simba holds his hand up.
"You want to deal with them?" I ask. He nods and I smile. "All yours Simba." I say as I put my sword away.
As Simba walks forward, Weiss speaks up. "Are you crazy? He's gonna die if he goes alone!"
"Nah. Just watch."
Simba starts to walk faster until he's full on sprinting at one of the Ursas. "HAMMERFUCK!" He yells as he jumps over a claw swipe and brings the sword down causing the Ursa to collapes dead in only one move. He jumps off that one as the other one tries to pounce on him. As he falls he brings his blade into the back of the other Ursa. The Ursa screams in pain and starts to buck to get Simba off. Simba for his part just releases his sword and uses one of the bucks to fly higher into the air. As he comes down he slams into the blade. Piercing all the way through. With him following. Once under it he sends an uppercut and manages to send the head of the Ursa flying off it's body. He grabs his sword and raises it up. "HAMMERFUCK!"
I look to my teammates to see them dumbfounded. "Told you. Simba is a badass when he wants to be."
Simba puts his sword away and walks up to Faebith. "Hammerfuck?" He says as he raises his arms up.
"Sure buddy. Just be careful of the neck. Still need to breath after all." Faebith picks up Simba and places him on her back. "As for you all. Get back to the ship. Glynda's probably freaking out by now."
We all pale at the thought and take off running.
Faebith's POV a few hours later
Glynda was starring at Simba. "So you're telling me. That this... Creature-"
"Simba." I correct.
"Simba... Killed over three hundred of these... Kobolds?"
"Correct."
"Then proceeded to kill not one, but two Ursa majors."
"Yup."
"And you told him that we would send him to fight the grimm?"
"Look. You need as much help as you can get. And lets be honest. He is a badass. I just have to get a dire wolf for him as a mount."
"Hammerfuck." Simba says.
"And why does he only say hammerfuck?" she asks.
"It's the only thing he can say in common. If you want me to translate I can."
"It would be appreciative." states Ozpin.
As Simba starts to speak in Thri-kreen, I translate. "I say. This is a magnificent office. You wouldn't happen to have any tea would you?" Ozpin just motions to a cup. After Simba takes a sip he continues. "Yes. Darastrix here helped save me from a giant spider. One that would fill up this entire room." I notice he stopped speaking and is looking at me. I just send him the message telepathically. They don't know my actual name. Trying to be incognito for a bit. He nods and continues. "After that. I started going around and killing any Kobolds I could find. Somehow one of their shaman made a portal that ended up in this world. And if you are worried about my size, fear not. I have been through my own fair share of tussles with larger prey."
"I see." He thinks about it for a minute. "I suppose he could help defend the forest around the school."
"Hear that buddy. Go in the forest and go nuts."
"Hammerfuck?" Simba asks.
"I'll find you once I have your mount." He nods and goes back into the elevator. He jumps up a bit and hits the button for the ground floor. All while still, surprisingly, drinking his tea.
"You have odd companions Ms. Darastrix." States Glynda with a deadpan stare.
"You mean Simba? He's the most normal of all them next to Nam." I see her going to ask but put my hand up. "Don't ask. Also don't mention cocaine in town. His brother will throttle you until he gets some or kills you." She just closes her mouth. "Now then. I'll take my leave. If you need me... Well just don't need me."
Hope you all Enjoyed. As for the updates. It takes a bit to get the juices going. That and some of these characters are my friends so I get his input on the conversations between them.
