"I don't see anything," Rua noted as he sought the source of that distant roar.
It bounded off the walls of the buildings, from the ground and fairly echoed through out the area. Various copies of Trueman, kept outside of the shield, were looking at the sky as well as Yubel, was the spirit shaken by the sound?
"Ancient Fairy?" Rua asked when he saw the direction the dragon was facing he turned towards it as well. But there were no beating wings or shadows of dragons?
"Its her... She's coming?" was Fairy's enigmatic answer. "Once she's in range of Aki's power you should see her..."
'I can't believe she's left the KaibaCorp building! Its clearly not for Little Ryu, or she would already be here, so is it for Black Luster Soldier? She called at its presence...' Fairy ruminated when in the distance her answer manifested.
The outline was the first to appear, but it wasted no time until the Blue Eyes White Dragon fully appeared, speeding through the air. Unlike each of the other Dragons, sans Power Tool, she retained that rough outline appearance. The stories about her stayed in Fairy's mind, the unrefined pure soul that manifested the dragon. How it always had the attributes of a dragon but none of the sleek build of a dragon.
Blue Eyes blinked out once, but Fairy could sense the dragon slamming into the shield.
"You could ask," Fairy suggested even as she opened a sliver of the shield to let the dragon in.
"You should know your place!" Blue Eyes growled at her in response before she pulled up to hover before Black Luster Soldier.
"He's near by? You can sense the elder Kaiba?" Fairy asked while Black Rose slithered towards Aki possessively protective.
"The small Kaiba called for His protection and he's answering!" Blue Eyes responded as she coiled her tail around Black Luster Soldier. "This small Kaiba sent the summons for His Ka! He is close because this call! Bring back my Set!"
"Annd we're back on that topic," Black Rose grumbled.
"What topic? Yusei asked glancing up at Black Rose.
"Seriously? YOU Can not understand..." Black Rose began when Fairy smoothly cut in.
"Originally there was only one Blue Eyes White Dragon, but when God went into the Great Seal the Blue Eyes sundered herself into four parts, three to stay with Set for all time, one to attend to God. The issue though is that of the three that went, Gods' own Blue Eyes and two of those absolutely loyal to Kaiba went away. This is one that is loyal to Kaiba..."
"And she must be absolutely miserable waiting for him to come back..." Yusei finished as he turned his gaze fully on the towering blue eyed dragon.
"He 'will' return!" She snarled as she snaked her head around to bare her teeth at Yusei.
Black Rose retaliated by unfurling her wings and lowering her head so she was over Yusei as well.
"I've got this Rosie," Yusei rested his hand on the dragon's bark like neck, opting to use Stardusts' term of affection. Hoping that it would help cause her to relax a bit as he moved ahead so he was closer to her head. That's what he ended up hoping that full body shiver she gave 'was', reassurance. "Blue Eyes, that deck can guide Yugi back here with his court right? Do you know the method to activate it? To summon Yugi back?"
"The Not so Little Kaiba refuses to use it. God told the Not so Little Kaiba to call them back when he needed them. But the Not so Little Kaiba is determined to prove he can stand on his own. He wants to make my Set proud! But want is not the same as need, the deck now refuses to answer him!" Blue Eyes answered and for a moment she stilled at this twisted, wrenched pain. The Not so Little Kaiba, back when he was Little had wept. Set and God were so powerful! Leaving to protect the world when that evil Demon amassed the power to destroy the galaxy. He had sworn to be as strong as them! She had been proud! But his determination made the deck grow cold and dead. Its light faded along with her hopes until she couldn't rise up from the top of the office...
Until this new Little Kaiba touched it... Until this new Little Kaiba brought with him the need to see Set and God!
"Umm for those who don't speak dragon..." Asuka asked, understandably frustrated at the human half of the conversation.
"She says that the presence of Black Luster called her here, that the Elder Kaiba is near by, answering Little Ryu's prayer. But more than that, what's been missing to make the deck work," Yusei answered before settling his gaze on Ryu.
The childs' eyes were as full of hope as the twins, he looked his age and somehow that line of thought 'looked his age' bothered Yusei. That the kid had to work as he did because his father was CEO. Now he was standing here hoping for the last piece of a puzzle to know how to complete his family.
"She s... GET DOWN!" Yusei roared as he dove for the ground.
Seething flames tore the air melting the tops of the concrete that had served as their walls. Ancient Fairy roared in pain before she disappeared leaving only an ice barrier behind. Ruka's own voice rose up in agony joined with Rua's horrified cry. Already half in the ground Black Rose wasted no time to duck as she glared about, the idiot Judai's Elemental Hero Flame Wingman had been fused into being and was more stronger now.
Black Roses' wild gaze searched the area, where the twins were huddled against each other. But the girl looked physically unharmed, just the shock of the unexpected attack on her dragon. Like as not. Yet the memory of Yubels original attack affected the other girls, as those were not the screams of alarm from imminent danger, rather the screams of remembered danger.
A snarl of outrage curled Blue Eyes White Dragon who unleashed her White Lightning as punishment, and what damage the fire did before became dust when faced against that pure white blast. The spirits Black Rose saw in the distance disappeared in that shattered way all beaten spirits were, while Natasha reappeared.
"Oh... OH! Ok good healer here! Where are the wounded?! Come on I'm kinda tall here!" Natasha barked out as she pranced in pace, her eyes scanning the field before she galloped over to the twins. Thoughtless as ever the centaur pulled Ruka straight into the air to check on her, the way Aki did when checking to see if she fit a pillow in its case right. Once she was reassured she damn neared dropped the girl before she went galloping across! Checking everyone until Black Rose wondered if she was going to... going to face... what was it called?
Yusei's own spirits began to form up, "Natasha, is the fight over with Crow and Judai?"
"No, but Judai likes to use a fusion style of dueling and as alarming as this might sound. That wasn't an intentional attack against you guys. They were trying to outfire Queenie." Natasha explained as she reached Junko and Momoe.
Ryu peeked out from behind Blue Eyes' thigh to see if it was safe, before letting his gaze lift up to her face. "You're Blue Eyes White Dragon, you're Uncle Kaiba's cherished dragon..." Yusei was going to answer him, he knew how to get Ryu to work the deck! Resentment burned hot in Ryu as he realized he'd have to wait longer but... "Do you think Uncle Kaiba would approve of me?" If anyone knew it would be 'her' right?
Blue Eyes White Dragon actively had to blink at the little Kaiba. "What type of stupid question is this little Kaiba asking of me?" She lowered her head and began nuzzling the child, "stupid child. My Set does not like seeing children work like this. Not so Little Kaiba had to, but my Set did not want it to become some type of repeated pattern!"
She felt his hands grasp her muzzle and for a moment she was grateful she wasn't designed to have nostrils in this form. White Lightning Blasting the child wouldn't sit right with her.
Though as she let her gaze go up, it came onto the ice barrier and the fact that it was starting to fracture. "The desert man's daughter needs to bring the shield down, the damage to her Ka could be lethal," she instructed those who could understand her even as she dealt with a face full of small child.
"What?" Aki did a near double take and gave a sharp, "Zalinka bring the shield down!" If only that was all it took. Reveler appeared as oblivious as always yet it began to snow? Aki looked at the top of the dome, with Blue Eyes there was a bit extra light that danced along the dome. She could see the fractures were growing at the top where little flecks of white came tumbling down... A subtle explanation for why they weren't melting from just the generated heat coming from Judai's own spirits. Reveler, the 'ice' spirit.
But was it coming down fast 'enough'? Different spirits had different reactions to shield destruction. Just the process affected some but not others, and Reveler wasn't a spirit from the game, Aki couldn't just look up her stats. "Zalink...! Oh, Ryu does Superia know if Zalinka will be ok if the shield shatters now that she's taking it down?" Aki called out to the child.
Ryu blinked and released his grip from Blue Eye's muzzle before turning his attention to the spirit. Unlike Reveler, more like the others, she was showing a bit more awareness and her shields were no longer moving about. But could she do that? Aunt Isis could see visions and Superia was seeing... Shaking his head he called out to the spirit, "Superia, is Big sister Zalinka and Reveler going to be ok if the shield shatters now?"
Superia, for her part, did respond more quickly than Reveler, turning around to face Ryu before gliding over to join the child. From there she could see Zalinka better and focused her abilities on the girl. The spirits' ability was tied to her name 'of the ice barrier', Superia realized the girl was a maiden 'of' a servant or priestess type. In the same way as Superia herself really, serving God but not a part 'of' God.
With that the spirit began to nod, in confirmation to the safety of letting the shield go down at that speed. The only problem she had left was the visions she saw of what would happen when the shield went down. Yubel had been struggling with that orb's creation with the Ladies here, but 'struggle' wasn't the same as 'stopped'.
The corrupted Light had damaged Yubel's psyche to the point the spirit may have not the ability to realize that the blast would kill Judai. Yubel was declared by God to be a tragic figure, a failed version of the Dark Magician. While the spirits intentions were pure, Judai himself was not mature enough for such devotion at the time. Even now he had only very recently become aware of what such dedication meant and how to treat it.
But there was the fact that the orb was large enough to kill all of them... Her shields were good and between herself and Reveler they would be fine. It was just that if they tried, Trueman and or Judai was going to go after her or Reveler. The most likely futures were that only one would have a shield up and it wasn't going to be enough to deal with what Yubel had put up.
While Superia was left to ponder a course of action, Asuka's group in the back began to thaw out from their own shock from the sudden fire attack.
"I was just thinking," Momoe squeaked out as she watched the Blue Eyes White Dragon. "You have Mr. Jounouchi's Red Eyes Black Dragon, can't you bring him here? He could help 'and' he has stronger forms..." She turned to look at Fubuki... and kept turning... before her mind whispered the return of her fading sight and need for healing...
The question caught Fubuki off guard as he looked down in contrite shame, "they're not my spirits, and we know what Yubel can do. I can't risk Mr. Jounouchi's spirits, if they are serious and he used Lord Kaiba's power to protect me back then... its my job to protect them."
"No, they're warriors," Ryo countered, his tone firm but understanding. "Mr. Jounouchi died so you could live, if that orb goes off you won't be doing that. Not only that his spirits are older than ours, more aware of the world and likely of greater help." He placed his hand on Fubuki's shoulder, a sliver of guilt that was squashed under outrage. Even if one argued it was just a 'few years', what Fubuki had endured because of that Darkness group wasn't some mild issue. He hadn't been forced to live in another country or such.
Fubuki never spoke of it, but it was just one recounting of what this Darkness group did to Rua that made Ryo painfully aware. There were likely many things the guy had been forced to do that went against his nature. 'Ice Prince' had been a title born of how 'cool' Fubuki appeared to the student body, but now. While his compassion never wavered there was just this thin wall between himself and everyone, this guilt that ate away.
Fubuki looked down at the decks he carried and sighed quietly, "Red Eyes Black Dragon... Its safe for you to come out..." He paused before lifting up his head to gaze at Blue Eyes. The rivalry between Yugi and Kaiba, thus Dark Magician and Blue Eyes, was legendary... "She's not going to kill you on sight right? You and Blue Eyes White Dragon are ok with each other right?"
Ryo was well aware that he didn't 'speak' dragon, and neither could Fubuki so 'talking' was always on the tier of talking to someone who spoke another language. At least when talking to the dragons, but the silence became unnerving.
"Oh they're 'fine'." The caustic amused tone that they recognized as the Devil Dice rose up. "If by 'fine' as the story goes, Red Eyes tries to hit on Blue Eyes." What. "When ever they can because he's a boy, she's a girl and at the time they were really the only dragons around with awareness."
"Please no..." Fubukis' head hung low, as he failed his desperate bid to not grin at this.
"He 'hits' on her?" Ryo repeated in absolute disbelief. He understood that Stardust and Black Rose had something of a relationship tied to Yusei and Aki and 'their' past life relationship. But the idea of duel spirits... dating... He never really...
"Oh yeah, and like Black Rose, Blue Eyes 'does', 'not', 'approve'." Devil Dice appeared with his pair in hands and the grin on his face from one side to the other.
Yet Angel Dice appeared after him, her expression more embarrassed and sympathetic to all parties involved. "Its more like Judai hitting on Aki, only if Aki had Black Roses' personality about such things. What I'm saying is, it gets spicy."
Junko and Kazu, both just in ear shot found themselves staring at this little conversation despite how rude it was to just eavesdrop. "So what I'm hearing is that if Red Eyes shows up, there's a possibility that we're going to have a dragon seeking the nuclear option for dealing with unwanted advances..." Junko whispered to Kazu.
"It was a good life, I didn't think it would end because dragons can be idiots too..." Kazu began slowly.
"But here we are."
While off to the side, Natasha's tail swished happily before she proudly beamed and announced 'DONE!' for Momoe. The wounds that had started to bleed into sight were gone again, and she went as far as to do a hand wave check for Momoe's vision range. "And now I need to work on Junko's leg!"
The centaur gave the twins another glance, just to make sure the kids were ok as she trotted passed Yusei, Aki and Jack.
"Its taking too long for that idiot to make it back to us!" Jack argued one sidedly as Yusei and Aki looked up at him.
"We're not saying you're wrong," Aki pointed out, uselessly getting on her toes so she could check on Crow. The spirits were holding their own against Judai, "but... Oh Gods... The orb is being launched!"
Once the alert went out everyone went started diving into whatever cover they could. Kazu actively grabbing and dragging Junko away with him. While Asuka grabbed Momoe and joined Kazu while Ryo and Fubuki did the same...
Leaving Blue Eyes completely baffled as she swung her head back and forth trying to find this 'orb'. The corrupted white light that formed an orb 'was' moving... "Really? You children fear 'that'?" She snarled in contempt.
"Says the BRAT who NEVER got to watch as the people they cared about FRIED!" Black Rose retorted in annoyance.
