Chapter:2

After the tail splash Lupin wiped the water from his face, and chuckled a bit.

"Ok my little Mermaid, I believe you." He was clearly teasing.

"I could drown you, you know." She glared at him, having no reason to think he was only teasing in a light hearted way. She had only had negative interactions with humans this close.
"Why are you here?" She asked very suspiciously, but was actually enjoying the chance to talk to someone in any capacity.

"I'm here to steal you away." He stood up and struck a heroic pose, this made the mermaid laugh, and he chuckled too.
"No but really. I'm a thief, the BEST thief, and what better treasure for me to find then an actual mermaid. But also what kind of asshole locks such a beautiful lady like you up in such a dingy tank?" Her expression grew somber at his words.

"Well he sees me as nothing more then an animal." It looked like she might start crying.

"But to even treat an animal like this." He said and she covered her face turning away from him.
"Hey it's ok, don't be sad." He knelt down on the platform, and extended a hand to her.
"I'll get you out of here." A charming smile grace his lips. Carmen looked up at him as a single tear fell from her eye and fell into her hands solidifying into a pearl.

"Step back." She said as she swam down a bit and jumping up out of the water to the platform he was on. She almost landed on him, but in her defense, she had told him to move.

"Nice." He huffed a bit barley avoiding her landing.

"I told you to move. Not my fault you didn't. I mean what did you think was going to happen? I doubt someone like you could catch me after such a jump, or at all." She shrugged a bit, not really caring if she insulted him. But he couldn't really blame her for acting the way she did. This rich prick had either caught her himself, most likely on accident, or payed some bounty hunter to track down his prize then capture her. He was probably not nice about it either, as evident by the poor excuse of a tank she was keep in.
She sat with her tail dangling over the edge of the platform then looked out of the high windows with the clouds covering the moon. She found herself yearning to see the stars again.
"Please..." She said in a whisper lowering her head.

"I'm sorry." Lupin replied looking at her intently, he had been observing her mannerisms since they met and especially now.

"Please..." She repeated.
"Get me out of here... take me away." She appeared to be holding back tears as she held the pearl in her hands, balled up on her lap.

"I already said I would." His cheeky smile returned.
"But you're gonna have to be nicer to me."

Carmen looked up at his words and nodded.
"Yes of course. But I do need one more thing from you."

"And what's that?"

"I have seen the same human pass by my tank dressed in something different then when they passed the first time." She started and Lupin held up a hand stopping her.

"You want me to get you something to cover you?" He half asked as he knew well the answer. And she nodded.

"I think I herd a young human girl call it a sun dress. I liked the way it looked on her." The thief laughed heartily, really it was a miracle they hadn't been discovered yet. But what the mermaid didn't know was that Lupin had knocked out and tied up the guards so he would have all the time he needed, working on the assumption that the rumor was true.

"Be back in a jiff!" And he hopped up and over to the ladder.

"I think it's over that way." She pointed for him. And he hurried off to do as he was told.
It wasn't hard to find the little gift shop the man had set up, but to call it little was an insult to mall stores everywhere. Lupin looked around annoyed that a lot of the items had branding of the mermaid on them. He knew she wouldn't like that. But he eventually found a nice red and pink sun dress that looked like it would fit her in all the important places. He also picked up a blanket to cover her tail. He would carry her out of this poor excuse for an aquarium then look for something a kin to a wheel chair once they had more time. Even with the guards tied up, they only had a few hours before he assumed people would show up to open up for the day.

"Here you go." Lupin reached the top of the ladder and showed her the dress he picked out. Carmen turned to look at it.

"It's pretty." She smiled as he handed it to her.
"Thank you. This will make things less awkward."

"Huh?" Lupin tilted his head at her words when she rested the dress on her lap. Then the moon was reviled shining into the room and bouncing off her scales lighting up the aria.
