Steven looks both at Robotnik and the G.U.N agents. The situation is absolutely desperate. Robotnik just betrayed G.U.N, the agents are prepared to make Robotnik surrender, Steven is downed because of the taser, and the most worrying thing, Fionna is in mid-fire.

Robotnik grins and presses some buttons on his airship, calling a horde of drones to shoot the agents.

The agents try to shoot the drones, but since they're made of metal it's quite inefficient. As the drones swarm into the air, their metallic bodies glinting in the sunlight, the agents open fire, but their bullets ricochet harmlessly off the drones' armored exteriors. The agents' frustration grows as they scramble to reload, trying to organize a counterattack. However, the relentless barrage from the drones keeps them on the defensive.

Robotnik, his grin widening, watches the chaos unfold from the safety of his airship. He presses a few more buttons, and additional drones descend like a rain of metal, targeting the agents with precision. Their weapons seem utterly useless against the swarming horde, and their formations begin to break apart.

The G.U.N agents take cover from the drones, trying to not be shot. One of them shouts. "We need reinforcement!"

"There is no time! We won't make it! We're almost out of ammo!"

The agent thinks for a moment and he comes with an idea. "I know what to do!"

The same agent quickly gets up and runs towards Steven. He tries to get him up, but Steven pushes him away in distrust. Steven shouts at him. "Get away from me!"

The agent takes Stevens' arms, trying to take him to a safe cover. "Look, I know what we did, I know we've been trying to catch you, but now we need your help. And now it's a situation where you either help us and survive or we all die!"

Steven hesitates, his mind racing. He's disoriented, his body still aching from the taser, and the chaos around him makes everything feel surreal. The buzzing of the drones, the desperate shouts of the agents, and the looming threat of Robotnik's betrayal all blur together into a cacophony of noise.

He looks around, eyes darting to the swarming drones above, their glowing red eyes locked onto the agents. The agents might have been after him, but right now, they're all in the same boat, sinking fast.

"Look, I really hate you all," Steven says, still struggling, "but I'm not letting that psycho take me away. Besides, I have someone to protect."

The agent looks at Steven with a mix of relief and urgency. "That's all we need to hear." He pulls a pen-like object. "How used to needles are you?"

"From my addicted days? Feels like breathing."

"Good." He uses the pen on Steven and injects a dose of adrenaline into his veins.

The moment the adrenaline hits, Steven feels a surge of energy rush through his body. His heart starts to race, and the fog in his mind begins to clear. The sharp pain from the taser slowly fades, replaced by a sharp clarity and a sense of urgency. His vision sharpens, and for the first time since he was knocked down, he feels like he can move again.

The agent pulls him up, and Steven stumbles at first, disoriented, but his legs quickly find their strength. Quickly Steven pulls his axes and slashes towards the drones, sending energy slashes at them. Each slash tears through the metallic bodies of the robotic attackers, causing sparks to fly and drones to drop from the sky.

The agent watches in awe as Steven's strikes rip through the swarm with terrifying precision. "That's it!" he shouts, rallying the rest of the agents. "Keep the pressure up! We've got a chance!"

But Robotnik, never one to be outdone, presses a few more buttons on his control panel, his grin growing ever wider as he watches the tide turn in his favor. He sends even more drones into the fray, this time with larger, more heavily armored units descending like an iron rain.

The agents, now re-energized by Steven's unexpected intervention, regroup and fire at the new threat. Their bullets are just as ineffective against the reinforced drones, but now the drones' attention is split. Some are focused on the agents, while others now engage with Steven, who continues to dance around the air, swinging his axes with calculated fury.

As Steven strikes down one drone after another, his attention briefly flickers toward the ongoing chaos below. Fionna is still in mid-fire, caught in a dangerous moment that could tip the scales of the conflict. His heart skips a beat. "I can't let her get caught in this mess." Steven mutters under his breath, determination returning to his eyes.

He tries to go towards Fionna, but Robotnik presses a series of buttons on his panel and launches an energy blast towards Steven. He manages to dodge the blast and tries to slash towards the airship, but Robotnik activates a forcefield.

Robotnik chuckles at Steven. "You see, my horned boy, you're a very precious asset… actually, the thing in your head is the precious asset, but I still need you."

Steven growls, gripping his axes tighter. "I'm not your asset, Robotnik. You're not getting away with this!"

Without hesitating, he leaps into the air, slicing through more drones mid-flight. The air hums with the crackling energy of his strikes, sparks raining down from the broken machines. But his focus is split now, not just on the drones, but on getting to Fionna before Robotnik's forces can catch her.

Below, Fionna's situation is becoming increasingly dangerous. She's trying to get cover. There is a huge mix of feelings inside her. Every instinct of her wants her to run and get away safely but her heart and mind scream to stay and help Steven somehow.

Fionna crouches behind a pile of rubble, her heart pounding as she watches the chaos unfold around her. The sound of gunfire and the screeching of drones fills the air, but it's Steven's voice in her mind that keeps her grounded. She can't just leave him. Not now. Not after everything they've been through.

But as much as her heart screams to help, the rational side of her knows she's no match for the relentless drones or Robotnik's overwhelming firepower. She clenches her fists, frustration burning inside her. She wants to act, to fight, but she's pinned down. Her thoughts keep racing back to Steven, seeing him out there fighting with everything he's got, every strike, every move so precise, so full of rage and determination.

Steven slashes towards Robotnik and tries to leap towards Fionna when the doctor manages to launch an energy blast at Steven. Steven tries to deflect the blast, but it hits him squarely. He's launched back and hits a wall.

Fionna eyes widen. "STEVEN!" She runs towards him and kneels beside Steven, her heart hammering in her chest as she desperately checks for any signs of life. His body is battered, bruised, and he's lying motionless against the rubble. A sharp pang of panic stabs at her. She can't lose him, not now.

"Steven! Steven, wake up!" She cries out, shaking him, her voice thick with desperation.

He stirs slightly, his eyes fluttering open, though they're hazy and unfocused. His breathing is ragged, and he groans in pain.

"Finn...?" Steven's voice is barely a whisper, weak and strained. His body feels like it's on fire, the searing pain from Robotnik's energy blast coursing through him. "I—I'm... fine..." His words trail off as he winces, trying to sit up but collapsing back to the ground.

"No, you're not fine!" Fionna exclaims, her voice cracking. She grabs him by the shoulders, her mind racing. She knows they're in a dire situation, but she can't let him fall apart now. The G.U.N agents are still in the middle of their own firefight with the drones, and Robotnik's airship looms ominously overhead.

"Steven, you need to get up. We need to get out of here. I can't do this alone!" Fionna's words are urgent, panicked.

Steven's vision is blurry, and his body feels like it's been pummeled by a thousand blows. He hears her, feels her hands gripping his shoulders, shaking him as she pleads for him to get up. Her face is a mix of fear and determination, and the intensity of her gaze cuts through the fog of his consciousness.

"Fionna..." His voice is weak, but he manages to smile a bit. His hand instinctively reaches for her, his fingers brushing against her arm as he tries to push himself up. "You know… I regret most things in my life… Drugs… Crimes… Being an ass… But one thing that I will never regret is saving you and allowing your stubborn ass to take me with you." He chuckles a bit.

Fionna's face softens as she listens to Steven's weak, yet sincere words. She gently brushes her hand over his. His words carry an odd warmth in the middle of all this chaos, and despite the pain, he still manages to make her smile. "Steven, don't talk like that. We're not done yet. We're gonna make it through this together, okay?"

Steven nods, though his body is betraying him. He can barely keep his eyes open, and his muscles hurt as he manages to sit up, albeit shakily. He looks at her face and grins. "Finn… Fionna… I… I love you. The short time we spent together made you the first person I ever loved…"

Fionna's heart skips a beat as Steven's words hang in the air. She freezes, her breath catching in her throat. His confession, though weak, is raw and genuine, and it shakes her in a way nothing else has. For a split second, the chaos around them fades as she locks eyes with him.

"I love you too, Steven." She whispers, her voice soft but steady, her heart a mixture of emotions she's never fully allowed herself to feel until now. She leans closer to him, her hand gripping his tightly, refusing to let go.

He grins wider and uses his remaining forces to hug her. The moment feels suspended in time, a brief flicker of peace amidst the hellish chaos surrounding them. Steven, still barely holding onto consciousness, weakly hugs Fionna, her warmth grounding him.

The moment he hugs her she uses her forces to hold tears. She slowly hugs him back, trying to not hurt him. The moment she closes the hug a cloud of black mist erupts from them making a smokescreen that covers the agents, the drones and Robotnik.

Robotnik, frustrated, bangs his fist on his console, unable to locate Steven and Fionna within the cloud. "What is this?" He growls, adjusting his monitors to try to cut through the darkness. His fingers fly over the control panel, ordering the drones to scan the area with infrared sensors, but the black mist seems to disrupt even that.

The G.U.N agents, seeing the unexpected cover, use this chance to regroup. "Quick! Take cover and reload!" They quickly position themselves, using the mist as cover to avoid the drones' targeting systems.

As the smokescreen fades, Steven and Fionna have disappeared, now only a figure taller than both of them stands where they were. It bruises and cuts and fades. The figure has light-brown skin, diamond pupils, a gradient black-blonde hair and slightly sharp teeth.

As they see the figure, the agents look shocked. "Steven and Fionna! They disappeared!"

"W-Where are they?! "

"Who is that?!"

But Robotnik stares with widened eyes, shaking his head. "... They didn't disappear… They fused …" He grins wider. "Well, I had a small change of plans. I won't take only the thing inside your head, I will take you with your little girlfriend with me ."

The fusion looks to Robotnik with a defiant frown.
