The air in the underground lab was thick with the metallic scent of blood and the faintest hum of electrical equipment. Deep below the surface of Naruto's new stronghold, in a secluded, dimly-lit chamber, a large glass window separated Naruto, Sasuke, and Orochimaru from one of the latest creations. The shinobi inside—once a man, now little more than a monster—was violently thrashing against the metal restraints that bound him to a sterile table.
The shinobi's panic was palpable, his breathing coming in sharp, ragged gasps as his body spasmed uncontrollably. His hands, trembling with fear and rage, scraped at the smooth surface of the table. The experiment had gone awry, and now it was nothing more than a test subject on the brink of breaking down entirely.
Naruto's eyes, cold and calculating, watched with a mix of indifference and curiosity. He leaned against the wall, his sword Kurokaze strapped to his back, and crossed his arms. Sasuke stood beside him, the ever-present brooding aura hanging over him as he, too, observed the chaos unfolding before them. His Sharingan flickered occasionally, analyzing the situation, looking for the underlying cause of the poor soul's agony.
Orochimaru, ever the twisted mastermind, stood with his usual cold amusement. His snake-like eyes glittered as he observed the failure of his own work. There was no pity in his gaze—just an unsettling calm that spoke volumes about his disconnection from the suffering of others.
"This one is... disappointing," Orochimaru mused, his voice almost detached. "The instability of the chakra infusion is worse than I anticipated. It seems his body isn't able to handle the strain of the artificial modifications. Still, it is... interesting, don't you think, Naruto? The potential is limitless."
Naruto's lips curled into a half-smile, though it was void of any empathy. "Interesting, maybe. But if it keeps failing, I don't see much use in keeping it around."
Sasuke, finally turning his head from the glass, spoke with his usual deadpan tone. "Waste of time. They're nothing but flawed tools, just like everything else in this world."
Orochimaru chuckled, his hand reaching up to adjust his glasses. "True. But a tool can always be improved upon, can't it?" He said, almost as though he were talking to himself.
The sound of a door opening behind them broke the tense silence. A messenger, an anonymous Anbu, entered, his face a mask of urgency. "Lord Orochimaru... Naruto... Sasuke... There's movement near the village. Two of the Akatsuki are approaching, Hidan and Kakuzu."
Naruto raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued. "Hidan and Kakuzu, huh? Never thought I'd see the day they'd come here."
Orochimaru's eyes glinted as he smiled, his long fingers tapping the surface of the table. "It seems they've caught wind of our little project. They could be looking for an alliance or perhaps to scout out your little operation, Naruto. Either way, it's a dangerous move for them. If they think they can control you..."
Naruto's smirk widened, the edge of danger in his voice. "Let them try."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed. "Are they strong?"
"Stronger than you think," Naruto replied, stepping away from the window, his boots making a soft click on the cold stone floor. "Hidan's a maniac, unpredictable, and powerful with his immortality. Kakuzu's got the skill to back it up. But they won't be a problem. I've been getting stronger by the day."
Orochimaru's smile twisted. "And yet, you still let them come. You know they're after you. After the Jinchuriki."
Naruto's face became a mask of calm, the thought of the Akatsuki's intentions doing little to faze him. "Let them come. They've been chasing me for years. This time, they'll regret it."
The group made their way up through the winding passageways of the hidden mountain base. Sasuke walked in silence, eyes focused on the ground ahead, while Naruto remained poised, his mind already preparing for the upcoming battle. The thought of meeting the two Akatsuki members didn't bring fear. Instead, it felt like an inevitability—a challenge to overcome. With every fight, his strength grew, and Kurokaze's power amplified his already considerable abilities.
At the edge of the village, the first signs of Hidan and Kakuzu appeared. The ground shook slightly as Hidan, with his ever-irreverent and manic personality, leaped from the shadows, his chains rattling loudly as he landed. His eyes, wide and gleaming with an almost insane energy, immediately locked onto Naruto.
Kakuzu, towering behind him, surveyed the area with his cold, calculating eyes. His black cloak fluttered lightly in the wind, and his mask-like face remained impassive, yet his presence alone exuded a sense of deadly power.
"We finally found you, you little demon," Hidan cackled, spinning his weapon in the air with a flair for the dramatic. "I'll enjoy making you scream."
Kakuzu stepped forward, his deep, grating voice cutting through the air. "This isn't just about you, kid. The Akatsuki has a bigger plan, but you've become an obstacle."
Naruto smirked, his eyes gleaming with a fire that had long since been extinguished in most people. "I've been an obstacle since the moment you started hunting me."
Without warning, Naruto drew Kurokaze from his back, the katana humming with an almost sentient energy as it met the air. A gust of wind blew through the village, its intensity mirroring the growing tension.
Hidan lunged first, his weapon aimed to strike at Naruto's chest, but the younger man was quicker. In an instant, he sidestepped the attack and delivered a swift slash with Kurokaze. Hidan's grin faltered as he barely avoided the cut, but the sheer force of Naruto's movement sent him stumbling backward.
Kakuzu wasted no time, stepping into the fray and sending a barrage of elemental jutsu at Naruto, intending to overwhelm him with sheer numbers. But Naruto, now accustomed to the weight of Kurokaze, retaliated quickly, slicing through the air with a precision honed over months of relentless training. The wind chakra in his blade tore through Kakuzu's attacks, the explosive force of the jutsu dissipating like smoke in the wind.
As the battle escalated, Naruto's mind was already calculating his next move, the storm of chaos whirling in his chest as he prepared to unleash more power than he had in a long time.
The village was silent for a moment, the only sound being the soft whisper of wind through the trees. Then, the ground beneath Naruto's feet trembled as Hidan, still grinning like a maniac, rushed toward him. Kakuzu followed closely behind, his cold eyes narrowing as he surveyed the situation. The two Akatsuki members were a deadly combination—one brimming with chaotic power and the other calculating and ruthless. But Naruto wasn't intimidated. His gaze hardened, and the faint hum of Kurokaze reverberated in his hands.
"I've had enough of running," Naruto muttered under his breath, his voice almost drowned out by the rush of adrenaline in his veins. He stood tall, resolute, and prepared for the coming storm.
Hidan came at him with incredible speed, his massive scythe swinging in an arc meant to cleave him in two. But Naruto was faster. He sidestepped the attack, the blade whizzing past his face with inches to spare. Kurokaze was already in motion. In one fluid motion, Naruto slashed across Hidan's torso, the force of the strike sending sparks flying. But Hidan was unscathed—his immortality allowed him to endure.
"You'll have to do better than that!" Hidan cackled, his grin widening.
Naruto's expression remained unchanged. The boy wasn't just any Jinchuriki. He wasn't someone who would be thrown off by such a trivial setback. The air around him began to shift. The temperature dropped slightly, and a whirl of chakra energy began to swirl around him.
Naruto, in a flash, drew upon Kurama's power—flooding his body with the Nine-Tails' chakra. His eyes flickered crimson, a vicious aura enveloping him. His body trembled with the power that surged through him, but there was no pain. Only control.
"Let's see how well you can handle this," Naruto muttered.
With a burst of speed, he leaped toward Hidan, using the body flicker technique to close the distance in a blink. Kurokaze collided with Hidan's scythe in a spray of sparks. Hidan grunted, stumbling back with an uncharacteristic look of surprise. He hadn't expected Naruto to be able to move this fast. But before he could react, Naruto was already gone again, vanishing in a gust of wind and reappearing behind him.
"Wind Style: Cyclone Slash!"
The wind around Kurokaze intensified as Naruto swung it through the air, a focused vortex of wind chakra slicing through the atmosphere. The slash connected with Hidan's back, and though he didn't immediately fall, the power of the attack left him staggered, his footing wavering as the blow cut deep.
Hidan gritted his teeth, furious. "You bastard—"
Before he could recover, Naruto was already on him again. His blade came down with unyielding force, this time cutting through the scythe, cleaving it in half. Hidan's eyes widened, disbelief flashing across his face.
"You'll regret this," Hidan spat, clutching at his chest where blood began to flow freely. He reached for the symbol on the ground, muttering the words of his ritual. But before he could finish, Naruto was on him again.
"That's enough," Naruto snarled. His voice was filled with cold finality as he grabbed Hidan by the throat and slammed him into the ground. The wind chakra around his body flared again as he crushed Hidan's skull into the earth, rendering him unconscious and bound by chains that seemed to come from nowhere—crafted from the very air itself.
"I'll deal with you later," Naruto muttered, standing tall. The chains wrapped tighter around Hidan's body, preventing the maniac from escaping.
With Hidan dealt with, Naruto turned his attention to Kakuzu, who had remained silent until now. Kakuzu didn't seem fazed by the struggle. Instead, his hand reached into the folds of his cloak, pulling out his strange masks. His eyes remained cold, calculating as he stared at Naruto.
"You think you can handle both of us?" Kakuzu asked in a low, threatening voice. "You're just a child playing with fire."
Naruto's expression didn't change. "And you're just an old man who's about to die." His voice was smooth, calm—like a storm before it struck.
Without further hesitation, Naruto activated his wind-based jutsu again, creating a shield of swirling, razor-sharp wind around him. Kakuzu's eyes flickered in recognition of the technique, and he lunged forward, intent on ending the fight quickly.
But Naruto was already faster. As Kakuzu's masks released their elemental attacks—fire, water, and lightning—Naruto effortlessly deflected each one with his blade, using the wind chakra to slice through the attacks. Kurokaze glowed with an eerie energy as the sword collided with Kakuzu's tendrils, cleaving through them with ease.
Kakuzu's eyes widened in surprise as Naruto closed the gap between them once more. His lightning mask was aimed directly at Naruto, ready to strike—but Naruto, using Kurama's chakra to propel him, moved with unnatural speed, deflecting the attack by using his wind chakra to absorb the force of the lightning.
In an instant, Naruto was upon Kakuzu. The Akatsuki member barely had time to react before Naruto unleashed his most devastating attack.
"Tempest Reaver!"
The transformation was instant. Naruto's body rippled with swirling, tempestuous wind and demonic energy. His skin took on a faint glow, as if he were wreathed in a violent storm of chakra. His speed doubled, and the air around him began to distort, swirling in violent gusts. With a roar, he slammed into Kakuzu, Kurokaze striking with a speed Kakuzu could not follow.
The force of the blow shattered Kakuzu's remaining tendrils, the wind chakra cutting through the very fabric of his being. Kakuzu's eyes widened in pain and shock as Naruto's blade sank deep into his chest, carving through the thick layers of his skin and reaching his heart.
"Impossible..." Kakuzu gasped.
But before Kakuzu could utter another word, Naruto twisted the blade, unleashing the full force of his chakra. Kakuzu's body convulsed once, twice, before finally collapsing to the ground, dead. His masks fell to the earth with a clatter, their ominous presence no longer a threat.
Naruto stood over the fallen Akatsuki members, panting lightly from the exertion. His body still glowed faintly with Kurama's chakra, but the storm-like aura around him had faded. He had won.
"Pathetic," Naruto muttered, kicking the lifeless body of Kakuzu aside. He turned his attention back to Hidan, who still struggled against his chains, his eyes filled with hate.
"Guess you're next."
Naruto's eyes burned with a savage intensity, but this time, he wasn't going to let Hidan escape. With one swift motion, he used the body flicker technique to appear beside him. A flick of his wrist, and Hidan was slammed into the ground once more, the chains tightening around his form.
Naruto sighed and shook his head. "You're a lot of trouble. But that's not going to save you."
