Chapter 1: Why?

It was a quiet, cool, crisp day. A cool wind blew through making the leaves in the trees shake and some leaves to fall to the ground and to the river creating ripples upon ripples. The sun shined bright and white clouds drifted along the blue sky creating brief shadows.

In a ravine a large concrete bridge, or at least what was left of a bridge stood still with smoke rising up from the battle that obviously just took place. The bridge had a huge chunk taken from it in a perfect circle, blood splattered in the bottom and two pairs of bloody footsteps led to the missing bridge. A large tree grew from the middle of the tree, roots tore up the concrete and broke up the wall more.

Under the tree laying in the shadows lay a girl, she wore a black cloak with a hood, she had deep red hair that was splayed around her. Around her was a pool of blood leaking from her body, on the left side of her back had a hole through it where the blood was coming from. She released raspy breaths that made her shake and wince in pain with each one. Her skin was quickly paling from the blood loss and she could barely move anything. Her bleary eyes looked in front of her where a pair of small black glasses laid, one side cracked but would serve the purpose. She let out a pathetic whimper reaching and grabbing the glasses with a bloody hand and pulled them on as a dark shadow appeared above her. She looked up at the shadow with a sad face and let her head drop in sadness.

"I hoped I could of seen you again..." She whispered quietly.

"Hn..." The male said. "You were the one who was foolish enough to be captured in battle, what did you expect?" He asked with a cruel voice. A quiet chirping sounded and his bruised hand began to glow and spark with nearly white chakra looking almost like a ball of lightning. "It's too bad, you were useful once.." He said and raised his hand about to deliver a finishing blow as she closed her eyes tight in fear.

"SASUKE!" A female's voice yelled making him halt in shock and slowly turn his head to the girl standing on the other side of the broken bridge. She had a slim body that was fit with curves in the right places. She wore an orange and black jacket with a medium collar open showing a deep blue mesh shirt underneath that didn't completely cover her toned stomach. She wore a pair of short shorts that were black with orange lining on the bottoms and sides, a large orange and silver belt hung crooked on her hips with pouches attached to them. She wore black ankle boots that flared out at the top and made her sculpted legs look long and beautiful. She had golden hair that glittered in the sunlight as it swayed free behind her, bangs hung in her flawless face. Three black whisker-like marks decorated her smooth cheeks and her bright blue eyes shined bright. Sweat dripped down her body that shook from pain and adrenaline, maybe even some fear.

She took in a breath and leaped across the hole and landed on the balls of her feet catching herself, she walked up to him and panted stopping feet in front of him and took in his image she hadn't seen in so long.

His normal clean and precise clothing was torn and dirty, it had a hole in the chest with some dried and some still wet blood stained the gray material, he had his purple waist wrap around like normal tied with the thick lighter purple rope that held his black katana blade sheath, it too was frayed and dirty. His deep blue pants were ripped up and stained with blood along with his matching mid-calf boots. His one arm covering was missing revealing another sleeve with an intricate seal painted on it. His normally clean skin was bruised, cut up and dirty, his handsome face as well, under his left eye had dried blood stains leading from the eye down his cheek. His hair which was longer than the previous time she saw him was messier and hung in his face due to its length. His onyx eyes held a blank look as he stared at her, a small smirk slowly graced his face, he let his glowing hand fade and he set it on his hip.

"Tsk... you... of course." He said. "Why are you here?" He asked.

"You know exactly why I am here Sasuke.." She said.

"Sasuke!" A male voice said, two figures jumped down next to the girl and grabbed her in a tight grip and forced her arms behind her back making her wince. The taller of the men gripped her neck tightly making her wince. He wore a purple material wrapped around him with black pants and no shoes on, he had orange spiky hair and orange eyes. Next to him a shorter man with silver-white hair that hung down framing his face and bangs hanging in his purple eyes. He had a smirk on his face and had a sharp tooth that poked out from his mouth. He wore a skin tight purple shirt with no sleeves and a large brown strap around his torso that had a blade larger than him. He wore white pants and black sandals, his clothes were dirty and slightly torn.

"Who is this huh? A Konoha bitch? Come to kill you again?" The boy with white hair said.

"She's no threat.." Sasuke said.

"What happened to Karin?" The taller boy asked.

"Caught in the crossfire." Sasuke said. "Let her go." He said, both grunted and paused. "Did you not hear me? Jugo? Suigetsu? Let her go." He said full of power, his onyx eyes shifting from the darkness to blood red. Both gulped and released the girl, she fell to her knees and gulped. "What are you doing here Naru?" He questioned.

"I just want to speak with you Sasuke... privately." She said looking at his teammates pointedly.

"So you can kill him?" Suigetsu asked.

"I said to talk." Naru said with annoyance in her voice.

"He's not that stupid-"

"You wish to speak, then speak." Sasuke said glaring at her with his blood eyes.

"I..." She paused.

"Maybe I should just throw you in a genjutsu..." Sasuke said. "You were always terrified of my genjutsu." He said and walked up, she shook in fear as he grabbed her jaw making her look up at him, she whimpered at the tight grip and stared into his eyes. They began to spin and she found her own world spin before it all faded to darkness. She floated in the darkness before landing on solid ground, a single beam of light appeared and she watched Sasuke appear from the darkness.

"Naru." He said. She balled her fists up and gritted her teeth before she kicked from her spot and launched herself at him, he stood still not flinching. She reached him and threw her arms around his neck and began to sob loudly into his chest.

"Sasuke... please.." She begged, his arms circled her and held her close.

"Shh... it's okay Naru... calm down.." He whispered. "Calm down... I'm sorry." He whispered. She pulled her face back and pressed a firm kiss on his lips, he cupped her head deepening the kiss, their tongues battling and goosebumps appeared on her skin and his took. He broke it and stared into her eyes before brushing her tears away, she smiled and took in a deep breath of his scent that she had missed.

"I love you Sasuke, please... why won't you come home?" She asked. "Our future, make the clan, our children, our home-"

"I can't Naru, not yet." He said.

"But you killed Itachi, you promised me when you killed Itachi you'd come home to me." She whimpered rubbing her face in his chest.

"It was revealed to me that Itachi wasn't the one who deserved to die." He said. "It was a mistake." He glanced down.

"What-"

"You don't need to worry yourself now.." He smirked.

"But-"

"Hey." He stroked her lips and kissed them gently. "You can save my teammate, she's an Uzumaki like you. She can teach you some things." He said.

"I just want to go with you."

"You can't, sigh... Madara Uchiha- somehow is alive and is targeting you."

"I'm not scared of Madara." She spat.

"But I can't lose you, I don't know what I'd do." He said. "So, we need to leave the genjutsu, do as my parents and your mother instructed and keep our facade on a little longer, until I return to Konoha. You, the good hero, and me, the evil villain." He smirked. "We'll soon be together and in Konoha, but a new Konoha, one that can't tell us no, or treat us badly, no one to keep us apart. But I have to do things first." He said. "To keep you and our children of the future safe." He said.

Naru's head hung down and she sniffled more wiping her nose. "I love you Naru, I really do."

"I love you too." She said holding his hand. "Please, be safe and come home soon." She said.

"Kakashi and Sakura are almost here, I must go." He said and began to fade, Naru closed her eyes unable to watch him leave. "I'll be listening, you'll see me soon." He said completely disappearing.

Naru slunk to her knees and began to sob loudly holding herself.

"Why? Why?" She sobbed. "Why!?" She screamed loudly and continued to sob in the darkness of the genjutsu.
