The New York Crew Ch. 02

Slick and Zilla, now wearing his cap and glasses are now standing in front of a house somewhere near a park. It is a basic two floor home. Looking down the street you would see many others that looked like it. Slick walks up to the door and knocks.

Zilla hears a woman shouting, "If this is about that recent hacking attempt in the pentagon, I swear I had nothing to do with it!" from the other side.

Slick hollers back, "Nah, Gizmo! Just me, Slick!"

"In that case, go away!"

"Come on, toots. Just let me in."

"Unless you have the 3 grand you owe me you're not setting one foot in this house!"

"Ya know, I can't get that money without some help!" A few moments after Slick said that a couple of clicks can be heard before the doors open.

The woman standing in the doorway is less than a foot shorter than either of them. wearing ripped jeans, leather boots, a black shirt with a purple skull, a fingerless glove on her right hand, and a pair of some sort of high-tech goggles on her head. Her hair is black with a streak of purple in it.

"C'mon, hurry up!" she commands while looking down the street like someone is watching her.

Before Zilla took one step into the house, he caught a familiar scent. Looking down the street he thought he saw a shadow moving behind one of the houses.

"Hey!" the woman whispers. As soon as she shuts the door, she locks it with multiple locks and latches. Turning around she finally notices Zilla. "Who's the Yankee?"

"Oh, that's just a friend of mine," Slick puts a hand on Zilla's shoulder to reassure that he is no threat.

"Name's Zilla," the former kaiju holds his hand out to introduce himself.

"Gizmo," she hesitates to shake the hand. "Friends call me Gizmo," she eventually took his hand. When she let go the woman turns back to Slick. "So, what is it this time, Slick?"

"Oh! Right," Slick digs into his coat. "There's a prob with the new merch," and pulls out a smartphone to hand it to Gizmo. "Just don't ask where I got it."

Gizmo takes it. "What's wrong with it?" and examines it and then hands it to Zilla. "You see anything wrong with it?"

"Can't say that I do," he honestly tells her looking at the device he recognizes as what his father used to call the Audrey, other than that he does not know much about these devices.

"The problem starts whenever you turn it on," Slick says as Zilla looks over it and pushes the power button. As soon as it started coming on he feels electricity shooting through his hand and drops the phone.

The kaiju lets out a growl. "It shocked me!"

"Yeah, that," Slick looks towards Gizmo. "It does that."

"I'll take it into my workshop and see what I can do," Gizmo carefully picks the phone back up and heads for the door leading to the garage with Slick and Zilla following her.

Inside the garage, it is full of all sorts of tools and gadgets. On one side there is a table with unfinished devices on it and a toolbox nearby. On the other side there is a set of computer screens and multiple keyboards, with papers and pictures surrounding them. The most noticeable thing in the garage, however, is a familiar yellow vehicle in the middle.

"Why do you have a cab?" Zilla asks.

"That?" Gizmo glances "I found that during one of my visits to the junkyard while looking for spare parts," she answers as she starts taking the phone apart to figure out what is wrong with it. "I decided to fix it as a side project," she quickly puts the phone back together and hands back to Slick. "I can't find a problem at all."

"You're joking, right?" Slick questions as he takes the phone back to look it over. "If you can't fix it then what am I suppose ta sell."

After that Zilla ignores their conversation and walks over to the computers. He looks at the photos and some news clippings. 'Mysterious drownings ruled as accidents in Hawaii' showed a beach full of people looking upon a body washed up on the shore, 'Turtle man saves kid from a car crash in Japan' that picture had an image of a what looked like a man wearing some sort of armor flying off into the distance, 'Three wanted criminals on an endless crime spree.' This picture has a glimpse at one of the three criminals, a blurred image of a man in heavy spiked armor. Zilla quickly takes the clipping to examine it. He knows exactly who that guy is.

"Hey, Yankee!" He looks away from the clipping to see Gizmo walking up to him. "Don't touch that!" she tries to take it from him, but Zilla is too quick.

He holds the clipping further away, "What is all this stuff?"

"It's called none off your business!"

Slick steps in, "Relax, Gizmo. Just tell the guy your hobby."

"No! He'll just laugh at me," she tries to snatch the clipping again only to fail.

"I won't laugh," Zilla looking directly in the eye. "I promise," he lowers his hand towards Gizmo to give the clipping back.

Gizmo glances down at the clipping then back at him. She pushes his hand back saying that he can keep it. "It all started more than a month ago,"

.oOo.

It was late at night and Gizmo was making a last-minute trip to the convenient store to buy some well needed food. She did what she usually does. Walk in, greet the lonely cashier, and walk down the aisles to find what she needed. When she was about done putting the last item in the handbasket, she heard the bell ringing that signaled someone else had entered.

"Hello, how can I help you?" she heard the cashier asking.

"Why, yes. You can open that register for us," a new voice said. Gizmo stopped right where she was, realizing that the store was being robbed. She set her basket down, walked to the end of the aisle she was at, and poked her head around the edge to see who was there.

Standing in front of the cashier were three of the strangest looking people she had ever seen. The tallest of the three had on a pair of jeans and a jacket with the sleeves partially torn, gizmo could see what looked like, orange-colored plates on his arms and head giving him the appearance of a bald man and instead of hands he had crab like claws with the right one being bigger than the left. The middle sized one had a pair of jeans, but nothing more than that other than a large dark blue armor with spikes on the back, his hair seemed to match it, and he had patches of blue scales on his arms. The shortest of them was wearing a long coat that hid most of him except his hands that looked more like paddles.

"L-look, I don't want any trouble," the cashier said getting a good look at the strangers. He had already pushed the silent alarm button.

"Too bad," the armored one said. "Because we like trouble."

The one with the paddle-like hands removed his coat to reveal six green octopus' arms that reached out at the cashier, wrapping around his arms, legs, and neck. "Can I snap his neck?" Asking the others with him. There was fear in both the cashier's and Gizmo's eyes.

"Let's see how cooperative he is first," the orange one said holding one of his claws to the cashier.

"Put your hands in the air!" two police officers had just walked into the store. One was an older man and the other much younger. They both stood in shock seeing that the three in front of them were clearly not human.

"Or your claws, or tentacles," the younger one said. His gun was shaking in his hands showing his fear. The armored one could see this and decided to take a step forward. The young officer panicked and fired his gun. It ended up ricocheting off the armored shell, back at the officer, and through his head.

"Rookie!" the older officer turned to the younger one. And then felt a sharp pain jabbing right into his stomach. Dropping his own gun, he turned his head as the orange man pulled out his claws covered in blood.

Then, there was a cracking sound heard by everyone who was still alive in the store. The armored and clawed ones turned to see the one with tentacles had snapped the cashier's neck.

"What?" he asked when he seen the other two staring at him. "You guys killed someone. I didn't want to be left out," then he dropped the cashier's body.

"Forget it!" The armored one said. "Those two being here tells us that the cashier triggered an alarm. Let's just get the cash register, destroy the security footage and get the heck out of here," the armored one walked over to the dead officers to pick up their guns. The clawed guy looked for where the security footage was being kept and recorded and smashed his claws through the machine. While the tentacle guy grabbed the cash register and anything else he could grab.

They were finally on their way out. Gizmo felt a breath of relief going through her until the tentacle guy turned around, looking in her direction. She felt a chill down her spine when she saw his eye. They were of a yellow color and instead of having round pupils, they were in the shape of a w. He was giving her a wicked grin feeling excitement at the fear she had before he turned back around to leave with the other two.

Getting out of her hiding place, Gizmo got a good look at the scene around her. The two dead officers and the cashier. She was horrified at what she had just witnessed. Knowing that no one would believe her she got out of there.

.oOo.

Back in the garage Gizmo had finished her story. She is in shock after reliving that memory.

"Since, since then I, I…" Gizmo was starting to cry. "I have been researching for more stories. Trying to figure out what they were. Are they aliens or some sort of government super soldier program? I even started a blog to try and get more information. I mostly got laughed at and told that I am nothing more than a psychopath wanting attention," Gizmo goes over to the computers, leans over the table and continues crying. "Sometimes I wonder if I am crazy and that I just imagined it. If only I could find one shred of proof," Slick walks up to her and puts a hand on her shoulder to calm her down.

"What if ya had this proof?" Slick asks as he turns his gaze over to Zilla.

Zilla knew what Slick was asking. After placing the clipping into his coat pocket, he removes his hat and glasses, revealing his orange eyes and patches of scales on his face.

"Yankee's one of them!?" Gizmo says, walking backwards into the desk, almost knocking the computers down.

"I can assure you I am nothing like those you encountered," Zilla tells her.

"What, what are you?"

"That's a long…" before he could finish his sentence, Zilla catches another familiar scent. Only, it this one is much closer.

"What's wrong?" Slick asks as Zilla walks over to the door. There is a sudden bang from the other side.

"Get in the car!" Zilla orders the others. Slick and Gizmo glance at each other before they complied with his command.

Zilla slowly put his hands on the doorknob, turns it, quickly opens the door, and throws a hard punch knocking out whoever was there. "Ganime," he looks down the man with crab like claws.

"That's him!" Gizmo screams, pointing at the unconscious being from the back seat of the cab. "He was from the store." By this time Zilla had hopped into the driver seat of the cab.

"How do you start this thing!?" shouts the kaiju, banging on the dashboard of the vehicle.

"Just use the key. I keep it in the visor," Gizmo points at the flap above Zilla's head. He flipped it down and found the key. Looking around the wheel to find a place to put it, found the ignition, inserted the key, and turned it. The engine roars to life just as Ganime starts waking up.

"Put it in drive!" Slick yells as she reaches for the gear shift and pulls it.

Without thinking Zilla just places his foot on one of the pedals and the cab goes crashing through the garage doors. On the other side of the doors, they hit a man with the tentacles. He had attached himself to the car using the suction like teeth on his arms.

"Gezora!" Zilla names before punching out the windshield. His eyes start glowing, signaling that he is about to breathe atomic fire. When Gezora is hit by the flames his arms let go of the vehicle.

Gizmo shouts, "He can breathe fire too!?" seeing more of the unbelievable.

"Yeah!" Slick confirms. "My pal here is full of surprises."

Not long after that, Zilla steps on the other pedal and they come to a complete stop. Looking down at the end of the street everyone in the car sees the man in the large, dark blue armor. Zilla growls before speaking the name of the guy in front of them. "Kamoebas!" At that moment he slams on the gas pedal heading straight for Kamoebas.

Kamoebas just grins as he takes a stance, preparing for the collision. Instead of colliding with it, the vehicle comes to a stop as it turns to the driver's side allowing Zilla to sucker punch him with greater force than usual even for a kaiju. Then, Zilla drives off, far away from the scene.

"Wow!" Slick exclaims. "You have to tell me where ya learned ta drive like that."

"Actually," Zilla smirks as he glances at Slick through the rearview mirror. "This is my first time."

"You're kidding, right?" Gizmo laughs. "I mean you would have gotten your license from somewhere."

At that, the iguana tilts his head. "What's a license?"

The woman paled after hearing that. "Okay, what is going on here?" she asks tired of trying to figure it out on her own.

Slick smirks. "Maybe we should tell her a story?"

"Go ahead," was Zilla's reply.
