No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)

Chapter 11: Soldier Boy (Part 1)

Before we left the Realm of Light, we touched on the subject of Clea Strange not feeling well.

She was with Stephen and Sofia in Agamotto's realm, but their daughter was distancing herself and keeping busy.

Sofia was actually in a meditation, and she was casting different versions of herself out in a number of directions.

One version of her was out there gathering some more "Doom bots" for Tony Stark, and something interesting about that kept popping up wherever she went.

She found a Doom bot in every location she went to, and Sofia began to think that she was being followed.

Perhaps Victor Von Doom was tailing her while she was tailing him? How… interesting.

Another version of Sofia was listening to an explanation from her aunt Donna. So, Umar was her maternal grandmother… and Sofia learned she was buried alive out there in the Dark because of her resentment toward her mother.

Oh, and Sofia was hearing an interesting story about her parents.

She was learning that Stephen Strange, Clea Strange, Agamotto, Umar the banished one, and even someone named Dormammu were all intertwined in a whirlwind for power over the Dark.

That little "Star Child" also learned that her grandmother made a move to "banish" her too, in a sense, before Sofia was even properly born.

She wasn't "born" from Clea Strange either, and that information gave the Star Child some clarity about her mother's behavior.

The information Donna chose to share might have seemed like a lot for a seven-year-old girl to take in, but mentally Sofia Strange was on the same level as everyone else…

She didn't behave like a child at all, and you can attribute that to one of Tony Stark's clever tricks…

We're not going to get into all that and rehash how she was "raised" by Tony years ago, but the key takeaway is her level of understanding.

Her family members didn't have to sugar coat anything for her, and Sofia felt more than ready to "assess" the situation and look into it on her own.

...

Was her mother truly cursed? And, if so, who's curse was strong enough to haunt her soul? That was the little girl's main focus.

Her eyebrows sharpened up as she contemplated what she was learning, then, in her own body… she glanced back at the temple deep within the Realm of Light.

Her parents were in there, and Sofia wasn't sure if she wanted to join them.

She didn't want to see them in pain, and her little heart was aching over what had been done to her mother.

Knowing what happened sparked an "investigation" within her growing mind, much like the stories her father read to her about the mysterious Sherlock Holmes.

The Star Child decided to keep digging, so she sent yet another version of herself out into the Dark Dimension.

Her maternal grandfather, Orini, was another source of information, and his perspective was something Sofia refused to overlook…
