[LOG FILE 048: TEMPLE GROUNDS, AETHER]
Once the elevator arrived at the Temple Grounds I stepped off, making my way back through cliffside paths and tunnels I had passed through before. A few War Wasps and Dark Pirate Troopers tried to bar my progress, but they all failed to do so. As I passed through the chambers I checked my map, looking to see what new paths I could now progress through. Thankfully for me one such path was not too far, and with a quick use of my Super Missile I found myself at one of the entrances to the planet's Great Temple.
Although I had been here before, I had not previously noticed the half-pipe that stood across from the Temple gateway. I switched into my Morph Ball, using the Boost Ball to ascend to the ledge above. There was a small hole in the wall that looked promising, and as luck would have it my Morph Ball form just fit in the opening. I rolled into the hole to find myself in a winding tunnel, one that I could now properly progress through with the help of my Boost Ball.
Eventually I exited the tunnel, coming to a stop inside a new chamber. I switched out of my Morph Ball and took a look around the site with my Scan Visor. The rocky walls of the open room, which appeared to be directly below the Great Temple, were adorned with what appeared to be effigies of past Luminoth Sentinels and each effigy seemed to be emitting some sort of energy beam toward the central section. In the center of the chamber resided a containment system, protecting what appeared to be a weapon upgrade. The containment field was impervious to my weaponry, so I needed to figure out how to get access to the upgrade.
As I continued scanning the room I noticed four Spinner devices positioned along the outer walls, one under each effigy. I switched back into my Morph Ball and went to work, using the Spinners to align four rotating floor rings around the containment field. It took a few minutes to figure out the pattern, but eventually all four rings started glowing. I rolled out of the final Spinner and left my Morph Ball just in time to watch four focusing lenses rise up, placed in front of the beams coming from the effigies and making them powerful enough to shatter the containment field.
With the containment field destroyed I took a moment to scan my prize, which ended up being a Seeker Launcher. I wasn't quite sure what that meant, as my missiles already had homing capabilities. With only one way to know for sure I approached the upgrade and installed it into my Arm Cannon. Once the Seeker Launcher was deemed operational I decided to check my data logs to see if there was further explanation.
As it turned out, the Seeker Launcher added a new function to my missiles: the ability to lock onto multiple targets at once and hit them simultaneously. I could see practical combat applications for this weapon, but I had noticed some purple blast shields that required multiple nodes to be destroyed at the same time to allow access. One of those doors in particular was in the Torvus Bog, so I would definitely need to return there. However, I felt that I needed to make a return trip to the Agon Wastes. Torvus Bog could wait a bit longer, so after making a brief stop at my ship to restock on supplies I made my way back to the elevator to Agon Wastes and descended once more to that arid desert sector…
