Prologue

Everyone has a breaking point. That moment where you just can't take any longer what life is dealing you.

It varies from person to person.

When you're a so-called superhero yours is naturally a little higher than most.

But eventually you just snap.

For Superman he's kinda wondering if he's reached his snapping point and that's why he hijacked a ship from the Watchtower and is flying it towards the sun.

In his defence he has a legitimate reason(read poorly worked out idea) for this. It's in an attempt to kick-start his failing powers.

You know the ones that use to either never allow him to be hurt or if he is hurt heal near instantaneously. The ones that use to prevent the blood that is oozing out of him and forming a puddle on the floor.

It's been happening for awhile now. His depleted powers. Not so coincidentally, he is certain, it happened at the same time he came across a new enemy; Wrath and her shadow creatures/minions. What she is beyond seemingly a living shadow Clark isn't sure.

All he does know is that she generates strong feelings of hate and anger within which only seems to feed her.

Clark wishes he could say he was immune but he's not.

Lately he's been angry at everyone which is completely out of character for him.

Course not helped by several factors. His aforementioned failing powers and resulting frustrations, his secret identity being discovered and attempts to blackmail him followed by being betrayed by 2 of the people he considers closest to.

His 'best friend' Lois Lane who dumped his identity upon the world putting everyone he cares about in danger. Seriously what the hell was she thinking?!

Did she ask him?

No.

Did she give him time to work out an alternative solution to his conundrum?

No.

She just decided she had the answer.

He doesn't want to sound so petty and say that that act pretty much has ruined his life...but that act has pretty much ruined his life.

Apart from the aforementioned putting everyone he knows in danger there was getting fired from his job, almost having to hide day to day from his enemies who now knew who he was and where he lived and that he was in a weakened state.

A lot of people lost faith and trust in him believing he betrayed them or was playing them for fools. Which he never was. He just...well not play at being Clark Kent, an accusation made against him, he is Clark Kent...and yes he liked the anonymity that gave him.

He lost a lot of friends.

The government...oh don't get him started. Saved the world how many freakin times and what's their response.

Um lets see. Kidnap what friends he had left, stole his parents farmhouse for some reason, to study for hidden alien tech or something he guesses.

Then on top of that when he asked his girlfriend, Diana aka Wonder Woman, to let him handle it what does she do?

She goes off and gets involved anyway. That would be the 2nd betrayal.

Bloody woman...and yes and that is probably his anger talking.

I didn't lie Kal. I only didn't tell you what I was doing.

Those were her words or something close to it.

Well a lie of omission is still a lie.

Know what he's just too freakin angry right now to think straight so he's gonna to put off for awhile seeing or talking to her again until he's calmed down or he risks saying something he'll regret he's sure.

Course one of Diana's either best of worst qualities depending on how you look at it is her stubbornness and that would probably be why her voice breaks in over the radio trying to get him to stop his possibly suicidal plunge into the sun.

Wait what was her next suggestion there?

She's going to go with him?

Is she mad?!

And yes this may not be the best day for Clark to answer that question.

And oh look there's another ship closing fast behind him.

Gah!

Next thing he knows she's beamed herself on board next to him.

At this point he's really stopped listening to her and then, just like he was worried, he says something he knows he'll regret later but he's mad, hurt, lost a lot of blood, frustrated as hell at his current situation and just wants her to leave(in his defence that last bit is also out of concern that she can't survive what is about to come).

Anyway as the ship begins to be consumed by the sun he says it.

"I don't think I love you any longer."

He can see the hurt in her eyes as the tingle of a teleport takes hold.

What neither of them see as their molecules begin to be displaced is the swirling energies of the sun mixing with the disintegrating ship's systems as they short and overload or just plain melt, like, for example, the ship's hyperdrive engines, all in the vicinity of Superman to be more precise.

Next thing Clark knows is being yanked very hard through what feels like a very small space, like being sucked through a straw and he knows it's very, very wrong. Teleports don't feel this way.

Faster and faster he gets sucked, pulled...whatever.

The closest thing he can equate it to from previous experience is either falling into a black hole(been there, done that) or similarly getting sucked through a wormhole.

Clark has a very bad feeling that he's not going to end up where he's suppose to.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

On the planet Naboo celebrations were taking place for their liberation from the Trade Federation who had occupied their planet.

Well technically the formal celebrations were tomorrow, with a full parade through the capital.

Tonight a few very solemn figures were watching as the body of the Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, was burned on a pyre. An ancient tradition for Jedi who had fallen in battle.

Primarily amongst the mourners is recently elevated to rank of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kinobi watching his fallen Master's body burn. Next to him a young child; Anakin Skywalker who Qui-Gon believed to be the Chosen One of prophecy. The one who would restore balance to the Force. Obi-Wan had given his word to his dying Master he would train the boy and he shall.

"You will become a Jedi, I promise," Obi-Wan tells the boy…

Well everyone knows what happened next in that story but far across the galaxy...in fact virtually literally on the opposite side of it in the area known as the Unknown Regions sits a desolate looking world, almost looking as if it is just recovering from some ancient catastrophe. Upon which lies the ruins of a long abandoned city.

For the first time in ages though life returns to the ruins. Energy and light pulsate through its buildings, moving in the direction of a larger building in the centre of the city.

Within this building a circular ring springs to life. Glowing symbols etched in the ring appear that weren't there before and in the centre of the ring space-time ruptures, contained, controlled and from this rupture a figure is spat out, dressed in jeans and a blue t-shirt with an S-shield upon it…

Author's Note: I suppose you could consider this a prologue to a story and I deliberately chose the currently weakened Superman, a fact I would keep going until possibly when the story most needs him to find out the way to restore his lost powers. In the end his presence, while at 1st would have limited impact on the galaxy would make the story AU by the end as fate(or the will of the Force) pulls him more and more into key events. I would probably have it start sometime during the Clone Wars his impact. Also is it just me or does Supes' enemy Wrath have some Sith-esque qualities with the way she generate hate and anger? Anywho, just an idea I had. Thanks to everyone who has previously written reviews.
