When Leonard and Sheldon returned to consciousness, they found themselves in what looked like a warehouse, but they also had the sensation that they were moving.
Penny spoke up, "It's okay. We are aboard a Starship." As Leonard and Sheldon stared at her, she started to say something more when Sheldon and Leonard were stunned to see the men who were entering the room.
They were led by a tall man whose skin was impossibly white, with hair to match. Even more striking was his iridescent blue eyes.
Dressed in what appeared to be a military uniform, he was accompanied by four shorter men who looked more than anything else like miniature Chewbaccas.
Leonard and Sheldon just stared as they talked again in the language they had heard back on earth.
"I am Commander Fron. The Captain wishes to see you. If you will accompany me."
Tort spoke up, indicating Fomac, "This man is a criminal, is there somewhere you could detain him?"
After a few moments, the Nordian turned to one the men accompanying him, "Sergeant, take this man to a holding cell."
Tort turned to Penny, "I'd better go along and see he is taken care of. I will see you later."
Still stunned by what was happening, Sheldon and Leonard looked to Penny for help. She sighed, telling them she would explain as soon as she could; signaled for them to follow along. When they reached what appeared to be an elevator, the other soldiers stepped back and only Fron accompanied them.
As they entered, Fron touched a screen on the wall and the elevator began to rise. In spite of the situation, Leonard had to smile when Sheldon whispered to him, "They have to push a button?"
All that was forgotten when they exited to the bridge. Probably because it is the logical way for a bridge to be laid out, it was similar to the bridge of the Enterprise; but contained much more advanced technology. Sheldon's and Leonard's eyes widened as they tried to take it all in.
As they all entered, they were met by the captain of the vessel. On the bridge all the individuals were Nordians but somehow the captain stood out. Part of it was that he was taller than the others but his skin was even more white, almost translucent.
"Welcome aboard the Notanna, I am captain Nord." He looked at each of them, "I was informed by the Republic we were picking up two individuals."
He went on, "I have also been informed that there was another man, a criminal? Also was there a fifth man?"
Penny spoke up, "When we last were in contact with the Republic, we had not located the prisoner." Agent Tort decided to accompany him." She hesitated, "We decided to bring two humans with us."
The captain looked at the others, "Humans?"
Penny spoke up, "These two men are inhabitants of the planet Earth." She went on, "I am Penny." She gestured to Leonard and Sheldon, "This is Leonard and Sheldon."
After a pause, Nord said, "I have to admit I am surprised that you chose to bring these inhabitants of Earth on board. I understood it is Republic policy to avoid interfering in pre-warp societies."
Penny took a deep breath, "During my time on Earth," she sighed, "These two became my friends. I wanted to try to keep them safe."
Leonard and Sheldon looked at each other. Upon hearing their names, they assumed they were being introduced. They were still stunned by what was happening but trusted Penny to explain what the hell was going on. It was rapidly becoming apparent she was much more that what she had seemed.
Nord was unable to hide his surprise. Taking a few moments to recover, he looked sadly at her, "Well, I am afraid that your good intentions may have put them in more danger. We have detected six enemy ships and have calculated they will reach Earth before more of our ships or any Republic ships arrive."
He caught Penny's eyes, "We are proceeding at high warp to intercept them in the hope of delaying them until help can arrive."
Penny was stunned, what had she done? In trying to save them, she had likely condemned them to death.
Nord had continued, "We should intercept them in approximately five hours." He turned to Fron, "Commander Fron will take you somewhere where you can relax and refresh yourselves."
When they had been led to what was apparently someone's quarters and their escort had left, Leonard and Sheldon turned expectantly to Penny.
Penny took a deep breath, "We might as well sit down, this is going to take a while."
When they were comfortable, she told them everything. How she had originally been sent to Earth to stop Sheldon from discovering the secret of the Warp Drive. Both of them were stunned to learn she had sex with them, albeit with decidedly different reactions. She then told them of her staying as an agent. When she explained who Tort and Lomac were, she couldn't help but smile to herself when she saw that Leonard was happy to hear about Tort.
She then went on to explain the current situation. The invasion of the Republic. About the attack on her home planet. She told them about the Empire and how they had come to be aboard the ship. Sheldon and Leonard were stunned when she told them the Earth could be in danger.
She was careful to leave out anything about herself and Leonard. She did have to talk about when he stayed over but just said she had wanted someone with her.
When she was finished, she couldn't help but smile when Sheldon's reactions were, "You had coitus with me?! You interfered with my work?!
Leonard smiled, "I think we can let that go."
He turned to Penny, "This has been a lot to absorb. I am sorry about your family." He hesitated, "But why are we here?"
Penny sighed, "You have become my friends. I wanted to protect you." She looked at them, "I am afraid instead I have put you in great danger."
Leonard looked at Sheldon, "I think we both agree that we are glad you feel that way about us because we like you too."
Penny felt herself tearing up, she instinctively hugged Leonard and turning to Sheldon, smiled when he allowed a small hug as well.
A soldier soon arrived with what he said was a bland concoction that should be safe for them to eat.
They then spent what seemed like an eternity until Fron finally came for them.
When they returned to the Bridge, Nord turned toward them, "We have sighted the enemy fleet. We should be in range in just a few moments."
Penny thought for a moment, "You are only one ship, can't they easily dispose of you or just have some of their ships continue on?"
"They could but they have long desired to capture an Imperial ship and its crew. They will try to take us alive."
He paused, "Since this is your battle too I will allow you to stay on the Bridge but I must ask you to stay out of the way."
When Penny told Leonard and Sheldon what they had discussed, they moved over to the side, Leonard near the Navigator and Sheldon near the weapons officer. They watched as they utilized what appeared to be touch screens.
When the six ships arrived, Penny and the others were amazed at the skill of the crew. They continued to fire and avoid any kind of direct hit. But they could also see it was only a matter of time. Although they managed to destroy one of the enemy ships, their shields were slowly being reduced. When they were finally down everyone on the Bridge but Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon screamed and covered their ears before they collapsed.
Stunned, Penny rushed over to the captain. After checking, she turned to the others, "He's still breathing but has been knocked out."
Standing up, she looked at the screen and saw two of the Syndicate ships approaching. She sighed and turned to the others, "I guess this is it."
She then realized she needed to let Leonard know how she felt about him.
But before she could continue, Leonard looked at Sheldon, "This may be crazy, but I have been watching the guy at the helm. I think I can at least try to fly this thing."
Sheldon spoke up, "It is also possible I could make use of the weapons console."
She stared at them and then smiled, "What the Hell. "
She sat in the Captain's chair as the others set in front of the respective consoles, "Leonard, when I give you the word, make a hard turn to starboard. Sheldon, as soon as we turn, fire a broadside."
Leonard nodded, "Starboard, that's right, right?
Penny smiled, "That's correct."
Just as the Alien ship prepared to dock, Penny gave the order and as their ship sheared away, Sheldon fired and the other ship shuddered and then lay dead in space.
It did not take long for the other ships to recover and for the next few hours, Penny stared in amazement and pride as Leonard and Sheldon held their own.
But in the end, the outcome was inevitable and finally they were struck with a broadside and they lost the ability to maneuver or resist.
Hesitantly at first and then more boldly, the remaining enemy ships approached again preparing to dock and board.
Penny sighed and sat back in the chair. She thought of taking their lives to save them from what was to come but could not bring herself to do it.
She looked with pride and sadness at her two friends, "I am so sorry I brought you to this. You could still be on Earth."
They stared at her; Leonard speaking up, "Are you kidding? This has been amazing. We have experienced one of every nerd's greatest fantasies, serving on a Starship."
She stared at them for a moment and then smiled. Making a decision, she asked Sheldon if she could talk to Leonard a moment.
When he had moved away, she moved over to Leonard. "There was a couple of things I didn't tell you. That first time I told you we had sex, it was more than that. Then when I came to you that night when I was upset and I told you that you held me, we made love." She hesitated, then plunged ahead, "When we were finished, I told you I love you."
Seeing the shock on his face, she hurried on, "You told me you loved me too."
Recovering, unable to believe his ears, Leonard moved forward and kissing her on the lips, looked into her eyes, "I do love you."
As they clung to each other, they heard Sheldon exclaim, "Quit whatever you are doing and see this!"
As they turned inquisitively toward him, they saw he was looking in excitement at the viewing screen. Turning toward it, they were stunned to see the enemy ships under fire. Looking further, they saw the arrival of ten ships; an Imperial Fleet had arrived!
Screaming in joy, they all joined in an embrace.
The battle was quickly over and the communication device on the captain's chair beeped. As Penny moved over to answer it, a Nordian Captain appeared on the screen. "Captain Nord, are you all right?" Then, he stared in amazement, "Who are you and where is Captain Nord?"
