Another afternoon and the Super Friends were hard at work in another fight on the streets; a man in golden high tech armor was sending out green blasts at everything in his path as he attempted to rob an armoured van moving various gold bars. Limelight was using her constructs to keep civilians at bay while Peacemaker and Batgirl were pushing people out the way of falling debris. Bumblebee was flying at a distance to send blasts at the villain while Wonder Woman sending her lasso at the villain and Supergirl was in the air sending heat vision blasts at him.
"Does anyone remember what this guy's deal is or even his name?" Peacemaker ended up asking putting his shield up high to cover debris about to fall on someone who he helped up and began to run away.
"I think that he said that his name is Reactron and those are radioactive blasts..." Batgirl ended up saying causing Limelight to grimace.
"A radioactive powered supervillain; just what this world needed... Bad enough we have a hero like that... Uh... Captain Atom and his stupid corny PSAs..." ranted Limelight shaking her head.
"We must take him down before he causes more people to be at risk with those radiation powers!" stated Wonder Woman as Supergirl smirked and got ready charge with flight right at Reactron.
"I got that covered Reactron; one punch and his stupid armor will be no more and his face will be bruised..." Supergirl confidently said but then there was a red and blue blur charging at Reactron. They stopped and looked at the smoke settled and most were in awe at the smiling figure standing next to the defeated Reactron. "You have got to be kidding me..." Supergirl muttered incredulously.
There was none other than Superman and the crowd began going near him cheering to get photos, autographs and ask for comments. News crew arrived and went past the Super Friends who were in awe except for the scowling Supergirl.
"Easy everyone; I am just here to help out... I can't take all the credit as my cousin and her friends have helped kept him at bay and they deserve the praise as much as I do." Superman then said as he then went to the Super Friends. "Wonder Woman. Nice to meet you... Limelight; John and H... The other Green Lantern think highly of you. Batgirl; I was surprised to find that Batman didn't have you affiliated with him but he should. Nice suit Bumblebee. Nice magic Zatanna and Peacemaker; I was hesitant to see another one but you seem a lot nicer than the old one." Superman greeted them and they were in awe.
"Just trying to keep people safe with my ring Superman!" Limelight then said nodding.
"Superman himself just talked to me..." Peacemaker muttered in shock.
Bumblebee stammered and Wonder Woman said "it's an honour to find a legendary champion of justice such as yourself Superman."
"I do my best..." smirked Zatanna trying to look humble.
"You know Batman? Has he ever said anything about me or what he thinks of me... You think that you can introduce me to him PLEASE?" Batgirl asked excitedly as Superman reached out to Supergirl with a smile but she then flew away looking agitated. Superman frowned and the Super Friends stared and then followed with Limelight creating a jet construct for them to ride in.
Supergirl saw them catching up with her as they flew side by side and saw their worried looks; "Not the first time I got upstaged by him... My first rescue as Supergirl... Brought my suit together and... Overshadowed in the news by him beating Parasite... Stopped a group of bank robbers... Overshadowed by him beating some loser called Clawster... I beat my first costumed bad guy? He takes down Microwave Man... Just about anything he does gets the front page!" Supergirl ranted annoyed as they stared at him.
"I know how you feel Supergirl... Especially when I was a kid; I got overshadowed by my sister's accomplishments a lot... Our trophy cabinet was void of stuff won by me..." Peacemaker told her sympathetically and Bumblebee nodded with the idea as Supergirl sighed.
"I just feel embarrassed by this... Do you know that my pod from Krypton came much later than his and were in suspended animation during that time... He's actually my younger cousin; I was 14 when Aunt Lara gave him to me to hold after he was born..." Supergirl told them and they blinked in shock.
"Really? That's cool... I mean... Sorry..." Batgirl said as Supergirl then flew right off as they stared where she was.
"I think she just needs space for herself..." Wonder Woman then told them and they slowly nodded. "What are you all up to tomorrow with school still out?" Wonder Woman decided to ask.
"Practicing magic." Zatanna then said simply.
"I want to finish this gadget I have been working on." Bumblebee then said.
"I'm going on a trip with my mums and sister." Limelight then said.
"I'm starting at the Burrito Bucket." Batgirl then said.
"My Mum is bringing me to work tomorrow; she wants to see if we can replicate this time she did this at a dentist's she used to work at in Royal Woods and took me to work one day when I was 11." Peacemaker then said.
The next morning Lincoln was in the family van sitting next to Rita as she had driven his younger siblings to school and now she was taking him to work. She then parked in the employee's parking lot and they let out as Lincoln looked up and saw the famous Daily Planet building with the huge globe statue at the top which looked amazing.
"Here we are Lincoln... The world famous Daily Planet and I know that you are going to have an exciting day here Lincoln. Don't count on any horses though." Rita told him and Lincoln laughed as they then went through and there were plenty of busy people about. Rita showed them to the elevator and then before the doors came in there was Lois Lane to Lincoln's eyes widening.
"Rita; is this your son?" Lois asked putting on a friendly face and looking at Lincoln and offered a hand and Lincoln took. Lincoln realising that he was shaking hands with a world famous reporter.
"Yes Lois; this is Lincoln my one and only son. Lincoln; this is Lois Lane... The world famous much younger multiple time award winner which is just fine by me as I have gotten awards from my columns back in Royal Woods... Nothing close to a Pulitzer but I didn't have to win them by jumping out of a window to get saved by someone I want to interview..." Rita then replied gritting her teeth a bit while forcing a smile and Lincoln facepalmed and Lois just stared.
"Mum... Can you please not..." pleaded Lincoln as the elevator got to their stop; they then went in and Lincoln saw a huge man in a blue business suit carrying a box while wearing glasses followed by a smaller black man in a suit of his own.
"Lincoln; please meet my team here... Jimmy Olsen who does photographs as well as run the Flamebird division of talking weird occurrences and the other star reporter here as well as my boyfriend Clark Kent..." Lois introduced them as Lincoln looked at them and the 2 looked at him.
"Hello... Rita did say that her son was coming..." Jimmy said taking Lincoln's hand to shake.
"Mr Olsen; one of my old friends from Royal Woods; Zach was a huge fan of Flamebird... You think that I can get an autograph to send back to him?" Lincoln asked and Jimmy nodded. Clark then had his turn to shake Lincoln's hand.
"Mr Loud; so nice to meet one of Kara's new friends finally. You can spend the day with her!" Clark said as Lincoln had his eyes widened and Clark called Kara over as Lincoln saw Kara walk slowly up to them with her hands in her pockets. "Did Kara tell you that we are cousins?" Clark asked as Lincoln looked at him taking that in as his eyes widened even more and Kara took Lincoln to an area at the side where she took out a heavy metal magazine.
Kara looked at his face and laughed saying "Yep... Don't spread it around but I know that you have figured it out... Most people that know dorky Clark don't expect him to be the confident Superman or the idea that he doesn't just live in his Fortress of Solitude when he's not saving lives..." Kara then told him and Lincoln looked to him.
"Kara since we're both here.. I know from experience that reacting to being upstaged by your siblings or cousins can lead to bad decisions... You are pretty strong and cool yourself..." Lincoln said as Kara sighed and shot him a smile before she looked to her magazine.
Kara looked like she heard something and then through the wall using a jetpack was someone in yellow and black armor with a black helmet came charging through. Someone pulled the fire alarm and people started running away in a panic and Lincoln and Kara shared a look as they went to hide.
The figure found Clark who was running away with Lois and charged at him and attacked him and gave off energy that was making Clark weaker and from his gauntlet came coils that entangled him and made Clark cough. Jimmy and Losi tried to freed him but the figure pushed them away.
"Leave the innocents out of this Kenny..." Clark told the figure as the figure took a closer look at them.
"Noble selfless Clark Kent... So patronising... Why did my parents love you and wished that you were their son and not me Kent?" snapped the figure as Supergirl then charged hard at the figure's back but the figure got up after Clark managed to get himself free. Supergirl's eyes widened and she got Clark in her arms and flew out of the hole that the figure made.
"Clark... Are you alright... That bozo was using Kryptonite..." muttered out Supergirl in worry as she looked at the weakened sick Clark and then went to the top of the building to put him down.
"Kenny Braverman; an old bully from Smallville who was jealous of me... He was born nearby when my pod was hit and Kryponite radiation affected him... He uses it to power his suit and increase his strength... Calls himself Conduit..." Clark managed to explain as Supergirl groaned.
"Great... Kryptonite... How are we supposed to wait until you are better... I'm not as good as you are... I know it's no wonder why people love you more than me..." Supergirl muttered as Clark took her hand.
"Kara... You're so much stronger than me... I had my strength my entire life while you had to learn to use yours'... You're my family and I am so proud of what you have been doing taking after me... I remember finding your pod and finding out that you were my cousin... I didn't feel alone anymore as a Kryptonian and the only others that survived were in the Phantom Zone... You can do this..." Clark told her and Supergirl looked at him in concern. "I will be fine... Go..." Clark told her and she nodded.
Lincoln had changed into Peacemaker and was now helping civilians escape but then there was the frantic Rita looking around. "Mam... We have to get you to safety..." Peacemaker told her taking her hand as she was panicking.
"I can't... My son Lincoln is here somewhere... He's only here because I brought him... I am such a bad mother..." Rita retorted and Peacemaker was startled and shook his head.
"You are not; I am sure your son will be fine..." Peacemaker told her and Rita had tears in her eyes making him pause.
"I am! I remember when we moved and Lincoln didn't want to... He was leaving behind all his friends and first thing that happened to him... He got put into a hospital because my husband had hired an assassin to work at his restaurant and there was a mercenary and the old Peacemaker there... This city is dangerous and now he is here when there is a villain attacking and why I can even bring him here? Because his school is closed right now because of another villain that attacked first thing in the morning... Coming here was a mistake... I should have fought Lynn on moving..." Rita cried out and Peacemaker was silent.
How long had his mother been thinking about this; feeling guilty... He wondered if he should tell her but he shook his head.
"I am sure that Lincoln loves and appreciates you and the new life that he started here... You shouldn't blame yourself..." Peacemaker told her and Rita stared at him and then left with the others as Peacemaker saw Conduit looking around to try and find Clark and Supergirl.
"The reporter is safe Conduit; same can't be said about you..." Supergirl shouted as she then appeared charging at full speed at Conduit and Conduit managed to grab at her. Supergirl felt her strength weakened and Conduit punched at her.
"I give Superman trouble so what hope does her kid sidekick have?" Conduit taunted her and Supergirl's eyes then fired heat vision hard at his helmet which damaged it.
"Do you know that my cousin holds back a lot? I am not so good at that yet..." Supergirl then said as she then held onto him hard and then flew him right out of the hole in the wall and then up to the sky and flew right at the pavement.
Conduit was knocked out unconscious as the civilians stepped back; Supergirl was struggling to stand up straight and Peacemaker scaled down the Daily Planet building with his grappling hook and ran to check on her worried. Then the crowd was cheering her on and Superman came rejuvenated and caught Supergirl as she was about to fall. She looked up and shared a smile with him.
Lincoln was treated to a strong embrace by his mother when they reunited and then the equally frantic Lynns when they got home and when Lincoln went to pick up the younger sisters who got the news...
The next morning Lincoln was up and answered the door and there was Kara smiling; "So how had it been after yesterday?" Kara asked as Lincoln laughed.
"I had frantic parents and 5 younger sisters and an older one who still lives with us... Plus I am certain that once the other sisters hear about this..." Lincoln answered and Kara laughed as Lincoln decided to show her the front page of the Daily Planet that had a photo of Supergirl over the defeated Conduit and giving the credit to her.
"Who care about the attention anyway?" Kara asked as Lincoln gave her a look and they both laughed. Rita watched this and smiled as she went to the table for breakfast. However something that had been bothering her since the previous day came back to her...
Rita tearfully embraced Lincoln as they were reunited outside the Daily Planet building; "Mum... I just want to say that in the past few years... I never regretted us moving to Metropolis or blamed you or Dad... I managed to build a new life and met my cool new friends and kept in touch with Clyde..." Lincoln said as he hugged her back and Rita was taken by surprise.
"Good to know sweetie..." Rita said sounding weirded out and suspicious...
