Pallet Town, 1986

If you were to ask anyone who had landed in Kanto's international airport where they would like to visit, most people (typically Unovans) would immediately say go to Saffron City and explore its many shops and exotic locations from the skyscrapers to the inns with luxurious spas.

People looking for a fun time would say Vermilion city, where parties happen well into the night with live performances from bands that just formed to major celebrities that if one were to be lucky would do a performance.

People looking for an adventure would say Cinnabar Island or even Mt Silver with the mountains/volcano attracting multiple thrill seekers every year.

Some people might even list out the other towns and locations from Pewter city and its history, Fuchsia city and its appeal with ninjas, to even Celadon city attracting an interesting assortment of people with their attractive men and women.

Very few people would mention Pallet Town. Sure, it's not a bad town, and nobody in their right mind would give it below 3 stars. However, outside of it having a nice quiet beach, and a nice place to relax, the only things of interest there is the Pokémon Professor's lab, a popular Ramen restaurant, a mediocre arcade and a luxurious 4-star hotel that is reasonably priced, that's it.

'Rose Ramen' is quite a popular restaurant. The food they serve is popular and delicious ramen that while not being cheap, won't make a dent in the wallet of those on the tightest of budgets.

The first floor and the basement serves as the eating area and the kitchen respectively, the second floor and the third floor serves as the home for the owners and their only son, who was right now passed out asleep.

The room the boy was in would make a neat freak have a heart attack and die if they so much as have a glimpse into his room. The floor was filled with everything from empty ramen bowls, empty soda cans, several books ranging from comics to action stories to even a couple of classical literature were piled haphazardly all over the place, a skateboard was leaning on an unused bedside table with a cheap looking alarm clock, a large pile of clothes was stacked on a chair, a clothes drawer and wardrobe was about to blow up with the amount of clothes and junk that were shoved into it, the walls were covered with posters from pictures of Pokémon, album covers and images of men and women who might as well be naked, and the window that overlooked the small town had a collection of dust and dead bugs on it.

There were only 3 things in the room that didn't have so much as a speck of dust on it. The first was a large computer monitor with a keyboard that was made for a giant which was the only thing that was on the boy's desk. The second was a shiny electric guitar that shone red, blue and green as if it had just come out of the factory.

Finally there was the boys bed, the bed was just the right size for the boy, and it was at least 15 years away from retirement. The blankets and pillows were so comfortable that it can soothe anyone's soul, and a red cap hung from the bedpost.

The boy was unnaturally thin. He could eat everything in a buffet and not gain so much as a pound in weight. His brown hair looked as if it had never seen a comb, his arms would make a bodybuilder laugh, his legs would make a runner blush with envy and his face made him look younger than he actually was. The boy's name is Rory.

Rory was not a light sleeper, but he was awoken by a strange noise coming from his window. Making a noise that sounded like a laughing seal and a machine gun he reached for his glasses that were as thick as cardboard and dragged himself to the window to see what the noise was. After glimpsing through the window he shook himself as if his bones had turned to jelly as he saw who was outside.

"Well it's about time you got up!" The voice cried out.

"Well you are lucky that my mom and dad are not here, but you better have a good reason to wake me up at this hour."

"Well R, your birthday is coming up soon!" The voice said in an overjoyed tone.

"Well you are a week too early!"

"Better to be a week early than a day late!"

At this Rory laughed to himself "So where are we going to?" He said.

"First we go to the arcade, and after that well…" the voice said, "..It's a surprise"

Rory smiled to himself "I'll be down in a jiffy".

"You have 1 minute and 30 seconds!" The voice cried out.

Rory practically tore his clothes off as he threw on some random clothes as he grabbed his signature hat and his skateboard. He raced down the stairs, threw open and opened the side door. He practically collided with a girl who was standing at the front door.

The girl had long hair that looked like it was on fire, her eyes were the colour of the ocean and she had a resting smile face that somehow was both insulting and inviting at the same time. She was tall for her age, and had not a single blemish on her face.

"1 minute and 20 seconds" The girl said with a smile, "Not bad eh Rory?"

"I don't see why you do this to me Aoki" Rory said as he gestured at her bike "I see you got a new bike."

"Indeed I did, and I am enjoying it very much." Aoki said, slapping Rory in the back that threatened to break his spine.

"Anyway, the first one to Raichu's Arcade is a smelly loser! Smell ya later!" as she took off down the street.

Rory shook his head as he jumped on his skateboard and chased after her.
