Rory and Aoki stood at the entrance of Route 1, excitement evident on their faces. Silver and Blaze were eager to explore, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of adventure.

"This is it, our first real chance to catch some Pokémon," Rory said, his voice brimming with anticipation, as he clutched his backpack that was filled with his needed items from a couple of potions and Pokeballs.

Aoki nodded, adjusting her backpack. "Let's make the most of it. Keep your eyes peeled for any wild Pokémon."

They began their journey down the well-trodden path, the tall grass swaying gently in the breeze. Silver hopped ahead, sniffing the air, while Blaze stayed close to Aoki, ready for action. "Viridian City should not be that far." Aoki said, more to herself than to Rory "Just never been down this way before."

Suddenly, Silver stopped, his body tensing. He pointed ahead with a soft croak. Rory followed his gaze and saw a small, yellow figure darting through the grass.

"Look, it's a Pikachu!" Rory whispered excitedly. "I've always wanted to catch one."

The Pikachu noticed the trainers and froze, its ears twitching. It eyed Silver warily, sparks crackling from its cheeks.

Rory stepped forward, holding a Poké Ball in his hand. "Silver, use Quick Attack!"

Silver leaped into action, moving with blinding speed. The Pikachu tried to dodge, but Silver's agility was unmatched, and he landed a direct hit. The Pikachu stumbled but quickly retaliated with a Thundershock, striking Silver with a jolt of electricity.

"Hang in there, Silver!" Rory called out. "Now, use Bubble!"

Silver unleashed a barrage of bubbles, each one striking the Pikachu with precision. The Pikachu wobbled, clearly weakened.

"Now's my chance!" Rory said, throwing the Poké Ball. It soared through the air and hit the Pikachu, encapsulating it in a burst of red light. The ball wobbled on the ground for a few tense moments before finally clicking shut.

"Yes! I caught a Pikachu!" Rory cried, running over to pick up the Poké Ball. Silver croaked happily. "I am going to call you Thor." Rory said as he gazed at the Pokeball.

#025: Pikachu

Type: Electric

Dex Entry: "Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. It stores electricity in its cheeks and releases it in lightning-based attacks. Pikachu is known for its playful and curious nature. It has a natural talent for finding electric sources and often sparks excitement among trainers."

Aoki watched with a smile, but her attention was soon drawn to a rustling in the grass nearby. Blaze growled softly, alerting her to the presence of another Pokémon.

A small, beetle-like Pokémon emerged from the grass, its antennae resembling drumsticks and its body looking like a tiny snare drum. It tapped its legs rhythmically, producing a catchy beat.

"A Beatling! I've never seen one up close before," Aoki exclaimed softly. "Blaze, let's catch it!"

Blaze nodded, stepping forward with determination. The Beatling seemed unfazed, continuing its rhythmic tapping.

"Blaze, use Ember!" Aoki commanded.

Blaze inhaled deeply and released a burst of fiery embers towards the Beatling. The attack landed, causing the Beatling to stagger, but it quickly regained its rhythm and retaliated with a Bug Bite.

"Good job, Blaze. Now, let's finish this! Use Tackle!"

Blaze charged forward, hitting the Beatling with a powerful tackle. The Beatling was knocked back, clearly weakened but still tapping its legs defiantly.

Aoki readied a Poké Ball and threw it with precision. The ball encapsulated the Beatling, wobbled on the ground, and then clicked shut.

"I did it! I caught a Beatling!" Aoki cheered, running over to pick up the Poké Ball. Blaze snorted proudly, standing tall.

#010 Beatling

Type: Bug/Electric

Dex Entry: "Beatling loves to create rhythmic sounds by tapping its legs. It often attracts others with its catchy beats, forming small bug bands in the wild."

Rory walked over, holding his newly caught Pikachu's Poké Ball. "Looks like we both got what we wanted. This is going to be a fun adventure."

Aoki nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. "Absolutely. Let's keep moving." She said as the two walked up the route battling the occasional caterpede and weedle until they arrived at Viridian city, their steps light with the thrill of their recent catches. Silver and Blaze followed closely, their eyes wide with curiosity. The two had been to Viridian City multiple times before but now they are doing it on their own without an adult looking over them.

"This place is…" Aoki said but she stuttered as if unable to find the right word.

"Yeah, there's so much to explore," Rory agreed. "Let's head to the Pokémon Center first and heal up."

As they made their way through the city, they noticed a young boy in a Team Jet uniform standing near a bulletin board, that was right next to the pokemart, looking as if his bones had turned to jelly. His uniform was crisp as if it had just come out of the dryer, and he seemed to be scanning the area, his eyes darting around.

"Hey, isn't that a Team Jet member?" Aoki whispered to Rory.

"Yeah, but he looks really young. Maybe a couple of years older than us? Maybe he's new?" Rory replied.

Curious, they approached the boy. "Hi there, are you with Team Jet?" Rory asked, trying to sound friendly.

The boy jumped slightly, turning to face them. He had dark hair and intense eyes, but his nervous demeanor softened his appearance. "Oh, um, hi. Yes, I am." The boy said as if he felt his teeth were about to fall out, as he patted his uniform down for dust that didn't exist "I'm…I'm Giovanni. This is my first week on the job."

"Nice to meet you, Giovanni," Aoki said, offering a reassuring smile. "We're Rory and Aoki. We just started our journey."

Giovanni seemed to relax a little. "Nice to meet you too. I'm supposed to be patrolling this area, but I'm still learning the ropes. Amanda is my mentor, and she's been really patient with me."

"That's great! We actually met Amanda earlier today," Rory said. "She seems really dedicated."

Before Giovanni could respond, a loud commotion erupted nearby. The three ran down the road to see two Team Dark grunts were causing a scene. They were standing in front of a large shop wielding baseball bats, they had a pair of Kantonian Patrats with them, their dark fur bristling with menace.

"This shop is under our…protection." One of the Team Dark grunts said gloating more to himself. "So, if you wish to enter, you have to pay a low low price of about 500 pokedollars. And we will be changing some of the prices here."

"Hey! You can't do that!" Giovanni shouted, trying to muster his courage. He took a step forward but hesitated, clearly intimidated by the grunts as he fumbled with his Pokeball.

One of the grunts sneered at Giovanni as his patrat sneered at his Pokeball as if to mock the Pokémon that is inside it. "Look at the little Team Jet newbie, trying to play hero. You should run along before you get hurt."

Giovanni's face paled, and he took a step back, visibly shaken. Rory and Aoki exchanged a look of determination.

"We can't let them get away with this," Rory said, stepping forward. "Giovanni, stay behind us. We'll handle this."

Aoki nodded in agreement. "Blaze, get ready!"

The grunts laughed. "You kids think you can stop us? Let's see what you've got. Patrats, attack!"

The Kantonian Patrats lunged forward, their eyes glowing with a dark intensity. Rory and Aoki stood their ground, ready to defend the city.

"Silver, use Quick Attack!" Rory commanded.

"Blaze, use Ember!" Aoki shouted.

Silver darted forward with blinding speed, striking one of the Patrats and sending it tumbling. Blaze unleashed a burst of fiery embers at the other Patrat, causing it to yelp in pain.

The grunts growled in frustration. "Patrat, use Bite!"

Both Patrats launched themselves at Silver and Blaze, their fangs gleaming. Silver nimbly dodged, while Blaze countered with another Ember, driving the Patrats back.

"Great job, Silver! Now, Bubble!" Rory ordered.

Silver blasted a stream of bubbles at the Patrats, who were too slow to dodge. The attack hit them head-on, causing significant damage.

"Blaze, finish it with Tackle!" Aoki called out.

Blaze charged forward, slamming into one of the Patrats and knocking it out cold. The other Patrat, seeing its companion defeated, hesitated and then fled back to its trainers.

The grunts glared at Rory and Aoki. "This isn't over," one of them hissed. They recalled their defeated Pokémon and ran off, disappearing into the alleys of Viridian City.

Giovanni, who had been watching from a safe distance, stepped forward, his face a mix of relief and embarrassment. "I'm sorry. I should have helped more, but... I froze." He said as he pressed his pokeballs to reveal a timid looking Nidoran and Meowth. "I only hatched Orville my Meowth last month and I only caught my Nidoran yesterday and I am still not sure on a name for him…" Giovanni moaned.

"It's okay, Giovanni," Rory said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You're still learning. You'll get better with time."

Aoki nodded. "Yeah, don't be too hard on yourself. You were brave to even stand up to them."

"We can teach you as well." Rory said "I can guarantee to you that one day you will be a confidant trainer."

Giovanni managed a small smile. "Thanks. I'll do my best to improve. And thank you for saving me and the city."

"Anytime," Rory replied. "We're all in this together, right?"

"We all start from somewhere, eh G?" Aoki said trying to make her new friend feel a bit better "Maybe one day I might be Champion!" Aoki said joking to herself.

"Yeah, but I will make sure that I will take that crown from you after you wore it for 5 minutes." Rory said giggling to himself. "Maybe Giovanni here might have a chance to."

Giovanni made a small smile unsure what to say.

As they walked towards the Pokémon Center, Giovanni regained some of his confidence. Rory and Aoki felt a sense of accomplishment, knowing they had made a difference and gained a new friend in the process.
