AN: I have majors writers block so I have no idea what to do but this is all I can do for now.
Aoki hurried along the streets of Pallet Town, her heart pounding with urgency as she needed to reach Professor Cedar's lab quickly. She had practically shoved the herbs into the old mans hands and bolted out of the door before the man had time to say thank you, her mind was away fully on Mew.
As she turned a corner, she caught sight of a commotion outside a small cafe. A young man, who looked to be no older than 15 or 16, violent brown hair that never saw a comb, with a confident, almost brash demeanor was tucking a Pokéball into his oversized black leather jacket. Normally this would not be an unusual site, had the man not grabbed a bag from the table where 2 people were talking to each other, and stolen something that was obviously not his, and the 2 people in question were 2 people she knew well, Professor Oak and his son, Aqua. Both of whom were protesting loudly as they only had seconds to comprehend the blatant robbery in broad daylight.
"That's not yours! Give it back!" Aqua was yelling, his face flushed with anger.
"Young man give that back!" Oak said his face had turned purple with indignation trying to get the ball back but the young man just smiled at Oak as if he was a toddler who did something cute.
"Who the hell do you think you are!?" Aqua cried
"The name's Lief" The young man said like a whisper "Lief Green. Make sure to remember that."
With a smirk, he mounted a sleek black, blue and green motorcycle that looked as if it had just come out of the factory and it was parked by the curb.
He wore the colors of the 'Angels of the End' biker gang, which Aoki knew at the back of her mind knew it was nothing but trouble. His jacket was emblazoned with the gang's violently green logo, and his presence seemed to command attention from the bystanders.
Aoki frowned as she stepped in standing in front of Lief's bike preventing him from moving, calling out, "Hey! You need to return what you've stolen!"
Lief turned towards her, his expression one of mild amusement. "And who are you to tell me what to do?" he challenged; his voice laced with defiance.
"I'm someone who doesn't stand by and watch thieves steal," Aoki retorted, her hand on Blaze's Pokéball.
Lief scoffed, but his smirk faded as he saw Aoki's determination. "Fine. You want to challenge me? Let's make this interesting." With a swift motion, he tossed the Pokéball he had stolen, and out came a Kantonian Grookey.
Kantonian Grookey
· Type: Grass
· Description: Kantonian Grookey has adapted to the harsher, more competitive environments of urban Kanto. Unlike its cheerful counterpart from other regions, this variant has a tougher demeanor, with darker fur and piercing red eyes. Its stick, traditionally used for rhythmic purposes, has hardened into a more formidable weapon, reflecting its need to fend off urban predators and rivals.
Pokedex Entry: "Kantonian Grookey navigates the dense, dark alleyways of cities with cunning and agility. Its sharpened stick is not only a tool for survival but also a symbol of its resourcefulness and tough upbringing. Known for forming tight-knit groups, they use coordinated attacks to protect their territory from intruders."
Blaze jumped forward, ready for battle. Aoki nodded, "Blaze, use Ember!"
Blaze unleashed a torrent of small, fiery embers at Grookey. The Grass Pokémon dodged skillfully, countering with a Razor Leaf, which sent sharp leaves slicing through the air towards Blaze.
"Dodge and use Flame Charge!" Aoki instructed. Blaze charged, enveloped in flames, moving fast enough to evade the leaves and hit Grookey directly. The impact sent Grookey staggering back.
Grookey recovered quickly, however, its body glowing with a green aura as it prepared a Seed Bomb. The bomb launched towards Blaze with considerable force.
"Quick, use Ember again!" Aoki called out. Blaze's Ember met the Seed Bomb mid-air, causing a small explosion that neutralized the attack.
Both Pokémon were showing signs of fatigue, but Blaze was on the upper hand. "Now, finish this with Fire Spin!" Aoki commanded. Blaze spun, releasing a spiraling fire towards Grookey, trapping it in a fiery vortex that caused the Grass Pokémon to faint.
Lief, seeing his Pokémon defeated, recalled Grookey and scoffed. "You've got spirit, girl. Be grateful that I unlike my father or any of his friends am a gentleman, otherwise your dentist and doctor would be much richer." he said politely as he tossed Aoki a handful of coins, as he started his bike's engines. "But this ain't over kid." He said Without another word, he revved his motorcycle and sped away, the stolen Pokéball still in his possession.
Aoki rushed over to Professor Oak and Aqua. "Are you both okay?"
"Yes, thanks to you," Professor Oak replied, while Aqua nodded, still shaken.
"I'm sorry he got away. I'll report this to the local authorities and to Team Jet," Aoki said, her voice firm.
Professor Oak placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "You did what you could, and you did it well. We're grateful for your help, Aoki."
"You did well Aoki." Aqua said softley
"…Thanks…" Aoki said a bit awkwardly unsure on what to say.
"Well." Professor Oak said as he turned off his pager "Someone tells me that you and Rory found a Mew."
"A WHAT?!" Aqua cried before he slapped his mouth.
"Yes, Rory and I found it, if you can come with me to Professor Cedars lab we can come see it."
Aqua turned to look at Oak who gave a quick nod, and before Oak can open his mouth the two were gone. Professor Oak shook his head and smiled.
Aoki and Aqua hurried along the path leading to Professor Cedar's lab, their steps quick with anticipation. Aqua had been eager to see the legendary Mew ever since Aoki had told him about the encounter in Viridian Forest.
"I can't believe you actually found a Mew," Aqua said, his voice a mix of excitement and awe. "I've read about them but seeing one in person... that must be something else."
Aoki smiled, glancing at him. "It's incredible, Aqua. Mew is just as mystical and beautiful as the stories say. You'll see."
As they ran, their shoulders brushed occasionally, and each touch sent a subtle spark through Aoki. She noticed how Aqua looked at her with a gentle warmth in his eyes, especially when she talked about her battles with Team Dark and the enraged Nidoqueen. There was a comfort in his presence that made her heart flutter slightly, though she never dared to voice these feelings. While she was able to do so with Rory and other family member with Aqua she felt something that she can't explain but she didn't know the right word for it
"So, how have you been handling everything at the lab?" she asked, changing the subject as they turned down a particularly leafy path.
"It's been amazing but intense," Aqua replied as he rubbed his glasses. "I feel like there's something new to learn. And Mew...it feels like I'm part of something really important."
There was a brief pause, a comfortable silence settling between them as they neared the lab. They continued the rest of the way in light conversation, skirting around deeper topics. As they approached the lab, Aqua's excitement visibly grew, and Aoki found herself watching him with affectionate amusement.
Reaching the door of Professor Cedar's lab, Aqua turned to Aoki, his eyes sincere. "Thanks for bringing me here, Aoki. I'm really glad we could spend this time together."
"Me too, Aqua," Aoki replied, her heart skipping a beat. "Let's go see Mew now. I think you'll feel even more amazed once you see it."
Aoki and Aqua entered the recovery room, with Rory already there, standing beside Mew's bed. The room was quiet except for the soft beeping of the monitors attached to Mew, indicating its vital signs. The legendary Pokémon lay still, its breathing even but faint, the mystical aura around it dimmed by its weakened state.
Aqua's eyes widened as he beheld Mew for the first time, his face a mixture of reverence and concern. "It's really Mew..." he whispered, almost to himself, his voice filled with wonder.
Rory nodded solemnly; his expression serious as he watched over Mew. "Yeah, it's been through a lot. We found it injured in the forest, had to save it from an angry Nidoqueen and it hasn't regained consciousness yet."
Aoki stepped closer to the bed, her gaze softening as she looked at Mew. "It's a resilient creature, though. Professor Cedar has done everything he can. Now, it's just a matter of time until it heals."
Aqua moved closer, careful not to disturb the delicate instruments. He observed Mew with a gentle curiosity, his eyes tracing the contours of its small, delicate form. "How did this happen?" he asked quietly, turning to Aoki and Rory.
Rory explained briefly about their encounter with the Nidoqueen in the forest, and how they had managed to bring Mew back to safety. Aqua listened intently, his respect for Rory and Aoki growing with each word.
"It's incredible that you were able to get it to safety," Aqua said, his voice tinged with admiration. "This Pokémon— it's amazing. It just seems so... peaceful, even like this."
Aoki smiled sadly. "Mew is special. It's not just about how rare it is. There's something about its presence... It's calming, almost healing, even now."
The three of them stood in silence for a moment, each lost in their thoughts and the soft, rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor. Aqua reached out a hand tentatively, hovering it over Mew without touching. "I wish I could do something to help," he murmured.
Rory clapped him on the shoulder, giving him a reassuring smile. "You being here is help. It's good to share this responsibility with someone who cares as much as we do."
Aqua nodded, appreciating Rory's words. He turned to Aoki, his eyes conveying a depth of emotion that went beyond just concern for Mew. "Thank you for letting me be a part of this. I feel like I'm part of something bigger than myself."
Aoki met his gaze, her heart fluttering slightly at the earnestness in his eyes. "You are, Aqua. We all are. We're doing something important here."
Just then, Professor Cedar entered the room, breaking the intimate atmosphere. "Ah, you're all here. Good," he said, checking some of the monitors. "Mew is stable, and that's a good sign. Let's keep up the hope and give it all the care we can."
Rory and Aoki sat beside Mew's recovery area, the mythical Pokémon lay on a specially prepared bed, its breathing now steady and calm. Rory and Aoki said nothing as they looked on in wonder at the mythical Pokémon unsure on what to say or do. Professor Cedar, Professor Oak and Aqua worked in another room examining all of the data being collected from Mew.
As Rory looked at the sleeping mythical Pokémon, Mew's eyelids fluttered open. Its large, bright eyes focused slowly, taking in its surroundings and the two young trainers watching over it. Mew let out a soft, curious "Mew?" as it tried to lift its head.
"Mew, you're awake!" Rory exclaimed softly; relief evident in his voice.
Aoki leaned closer, a gentle smile spreading across her face. "How are you feeling, little one?"
Mew stared at them for a moment, then, with a surprising burst of energy, floated up from its resting place, enveloped in a gentle psychic aura. It hovered directly in front of Rory and Aoki, tilting its head as if examining them.
Rory reached out slowly, his hand stopping just short of touching Mew. The Pokémon didn't flinch; instead, it floated closer and gently nuzzled against Rory's hand, its body glowing faintly as it made contact. Aoki and Rory stared on unable to think on what to say, on the corner of Rory's eye he saw Professor Cedar stare on in amazement as he desperately tried to measure the reading he is getting from his various equipment, Professor Oak froze in the spot and Aqua started going like mad with a camera.
"It seems to have taken a liking to us," Aoki said, her voice filled with wonder.
Mew then moved over to Aoki, repeating the gesture, brushing against her hand with the same gentle affection. It seemed to be comforting itself with their presence, attaching to them both with a trust that felt profound.
Rory looked at Aoki, his eyes wide with amazement. "Do you think it remembers us from the forest?"
"Maybe," Aoki replied. "Or it can sense that we helped it. Either way, I think it feels safe with us."
Mew floated back to the recovery bed but kept its gaze fixed on Rory and Aoki. It chirped softly, a sound full of warmth and attachment.
Professor Cedar observed this interaction with a thoughtful look. "It appears Mew has formed a bond with you both. This is highly unusual, but it's a good sign. It means Mew feels secure and can recover more quickly with you around."
"Does this mean we should stay with Mew during its recovery?" Rory asked, looking at the Pokémon with a protective gaze.
"I believe so," Professor Cedar nodded.
"Your presence seems to have a calming effect on it." Aqua said "Besides, keeping Mew company may also give us more insights into its unique abilities and behaviors."
Aoki nodded. "We'll stay as long as it takes. Right, Rory?"
"Absolutely," Rory agreed, watching as Mew settled down, keeping a close eye on them both.
