Chapter 29- Callie

I wasn't planning on doing this today, but when Alex suggested it, I went with it. There was still plenty of hours of daylight, and I knew Arizona would be itching to get out on the water. I was a little nervous about tipping the kayak over, but I did good, going there and back. When we got back, the sun was beginning its decent in the sky, I didn't think we were gone all that long, but I guess making love took longer than I thought. Alex had a fire going in the firepit, and my mom and Daniel were sitting around it, both with a drink in their hands. "I'll get dinner going" Daniel said standing, as Arizona and I walked up. It wasn't nothing big, just some hotdogs we would roast over the fire. When Daniel disappeared into the cabin, my mom looks over and smiles "you did it"

"huh" I look at her confused, then look at Arizona's hand, the light of the fire had caught the ring and it shined. "oh, yeah" I smiled.

"I'm assuming you said yes" she said looking at Arizona, who smiled, showing off her dimples and nodded, this was where my mom surprised both me and Arizona, she stood walking around to Arizona pulling her into a hug. "congrats, welcome to the family"

"um thanks" Arizona mutters, causing Alex and I to laugh, at how uncomfortable she was. Mom lets her go and wraps me in a hug. "congrats" she whispers in my ear.

"thanks mommy" she kisses my cheek and takes her seat again, this was when Daniel appeared with the hotdogs and buns.

"did I miss something" he asks setting the items down.

"just the new ring Zo is sporting" Alex says sitting back in his chair. Daniel looked up as Arizona holds up her hand. "you did it already?" I nod, he smiles and walks around to us. Pulling me into a hug, whispering "I'm assuming she said yes, since she's wearing the ring" I nod into his shoulder. "welcome to the family" he says softly "not that you weren't already" he laughs letting me go. Then goes to Arizona, shaking his head "you know I love you kiddo" she nods then pulls her into a hug, I heard him whisper something, but I couldn't make out what it was. "now that lovie time is over, can we have dinner, I'm starved" Alex breaks in. It was at this point the dogs trot up to us, and lay down. Pen of course tried to go for the hotdogs. "Pen no" I scold, she puts her tail between her legs and goes to lay down with Jack and Rose. "good girl"

"you're such a good mom" Alex says causing us all to laugh. I really didn't think that was in the cards for us, I honestly wasn't sure if I ever wanted kids. My mom never pressured me into anything, Aria on the other hand, she'd ask all the time when she was going to be a gramma. As Daniel passed out the forks, and hotdogs the conversation shifted.

"so Carlos Torres is a piece of work huh?" Alex asks shaking his head

"that's putting it mildly" my mom says shaking her head "he wasn't always like that, when the girls were little he was loving and kind, it wasn't until the last year or so he changed"

"more like once I met Arizona" I say

"hmm" she looks at me "you're right" Daniel lets out a sigh, when I look up at him he's shaking his head.

"dad" Arizona says "do you have any idea why he has such a problem with us?"

"it's not you, he has a problem with" he says letting out a deep sigh and sitting back in his chair "it's me"

"pretty sure it's our relationship" I say

"no" he shakes his head, I see him take a deep breath, and he's quiet staring into the fire. I look over at Arizona and she shrugs.

Alright now that they are engaged... The next chapter is one you've been waiting for, but I'm gonna let you sit and ponder it for a bit. lol
