Riley
It was morning and everyone went to class, I was alone for now. I needed to talk to the Dean and get transferred. I was hoping the waiting list wouldn't be too long. I really wanted to finish vet school here. I hated being alone and I missed my best friend. Plus here I was closer to my family. Janna was getting so big and so was Ashe. I liked being closer, I just hoped I could get in. I walked to the school, I was meeting with the dean, and I was nervous. I waited in the office it was nice they even had a coffee bar set up nothing like high school.
"Riley Davis" a lady called my name and I followed her. "Hello how can I help today?" She asked as we sat down. "I am hoping to transfer here, I was taking the vet program at U of A and its just too far for me. I did well there but the program here is closer to home" I said. "I see well the class is full right now I can get you into the waiting program" she said. "How long will that take?" I asked, "depends on if someone drops out or a spot opens up. I can see your grades here and the application looks good" she said. "So, it's just a waiting game?" I said, "yes I will let you know" she said. I nodded and left; it was not like I had another option. I walked out not paying attention, I bumped into someone. "I'm so sorry" I said, "nah that was all me, I am sorry beautiful" he said. I blushed and walked away from him, I felt him staring and I looked back at him he was gorgeous.
I had no idea if I would see him again, but I would most definitely look for him again. I hung out around the school grabbed a coffee and sat in the lounge. I was surprised when that guy sat beside me. "Hello" he said, "hi" I said blushing my god he was cute. "My name is Jared, and I just wanted to introduce myself" he said, "I am Riley" I said. "Riley I just wanted to say you are stunning and I hope to see you around" he said. "Me too I am hoping to get into the vet program here but I'm currently on a wait list" I said. "Damn, well i don't technically go to school here I just help out where I can. Save animals mostly" he said. "Save animals?" I asked, "yeah birds get stuck in the gutters, saved a few mice and racoons too. Critters tend to crawl into small holes" he said. "I love that you save mice too" I said, "I believe all animals should live i grew up around lots of animals. My dad used to work at a zoo" he said. "That is so cool, one of my parents' best friends works in Africa" I said, "see we have so much in common already" he said. This had me blushing again, "I need to get back to work but this is my number. Call me tomorrow if you are free, I am off" he said. I took his number and smiled. "I am free, and I will" I said he smiled this time and left. Holy shit did I just meet a guy, and did he sort of ask me out? I couldn't believe it he was do damn cute too. I was definitely going to like it here now only to get into the vet program.
After Klea was done class she found me and I told her all about Jared. "OH my god! girl you need to call him" she said, "I will tomorrow, but I am a bit nervous" I said, "well if you need Titan to see if he is a good judge of character" Max said. "Can he do that?" I asked, "yeah he has come a long way in the last 2 weeks he only growls when he doesn't like someone" Max said. "Thanks but I am going to see how tomorrow goes first, you never know" I said. Everyone had a lot of homework to do, I felt sort of out of the loop. I took Titan for a quick walk around the block, for Max I was glad he wasn't aggressive with me. "Well a pretty girl like you should not be out here alone" a male voice said. I turned around to see Jared, "oh um well this guy needed a walk" I said, "well hello there" he said kneeling down and Titan licked him instantly and let Jared pet him. "I think he likes you" I said, "he is cute" Jared said, "yeah not mine though, my friends" I said, "I see well I was hoping to run into you, I am not sure I can wait until tomorrow" he said. "Oh um well I can hang out now, all my friends are doing homework" I said. "Cool" he said, and I dropped Titan off at home and told them where I was going and that Titan approved. Klea had the biggest grin on her face, "Jared, my best friend Klea" I said, "I have seen her around, you are in the police classes right?" he said, "yup" Klea said, "Cool well, I will take good care of her" he said and we left, I was super excited about this.
We were walking around the campus and town it was such a nice night, then this van sped past us, it was going so fast, the door opened in the back. "My god he is a manic" Jared said. "Oh no Jared look" I said noticing the pet carrier that fell out. We ran to the street to help the animal, before it was hit by another car. We opened it up, "oh wow" Jared said, "what?" I said, "these guys are so rare, and almost extinct. I am going to assume he didn't have him legally" Jared said, "What is it?" I asked "it is a pangolin sort of like a baby armadillo and anteater" he said. "He is so cute" I said, but I noticed he was hurt a bit, I ripped a piece of my shirt and bandaged up his leg. "We should get him to the vet" I said. "Yeah there is one on campus right" he said, "yeah let's go" as we both ran towards the school, this poor guy was probably caught by poachers and it made me sad. I did google him and he was very sought out for his scales and claws, they were used in medicine. I felt bad for him, "What is this?" the vet teacher asked, "a pangolin and he is hurt" I said, "I'd say where did you find him he is so rare" she said, "in the street he fell out of a van" I said, "I have the license plate number too, I do not think he was taken legally" Jared said. "Well thanks to you guys he will be okay, I will find out where we can take him, get him back home to Africa" the vet said. "I might know someone who can help" I said and she nodded as I made the call to my dad who agreed to tell Tracker he was actually in Adventure Bay visiting with Skye so that was huge. He was going to come and grab him tomorrow and take him back.
I felt like Jared and I did a good thing and we both had a huge love for animals, I think I was going to really like him, "Riley I would love to do this again, I think we vibe really well I would love to get to know you more" he said. "Me too, I had fun" I said, "good we have a date tomorrow than and I will pick you up at 12" he said as he walked me home and kissed me. It was magical and I felt so alive when he did it. I told everything to Klea and she was over the moon for me we both were, this was the best idea ever me coming to Toronto things for me were looking up!
