Chapter 9
1995
Carly Benson
Carly moved into a room above Kelly's. She applied for a serving position, knowing she'd run into Bobbie since Ruby is her Aunt. Carly did her research before moving from Florida to Port Charles, NY. She applies as an aide at GH. She lists her interests in Neurology and Emergency. Carly discovers one of the patients has a variety of wealthy visitors. She wants to know what Elizabeth Webber has in common with members of the Quartermaine and Cassidine families. Laura Spencer, her Aunt, has a vested interest in Elizabeth.
Jason Morgan
Jason left Kelly's and moved into a room above Jake's Bar. It was a step down from Kelly's, but he didn't want to take any more money from the Quartermaines. Jason didn't have much experience, but he was a quick learner. He could do almost any job as long as he could keep his temper in check. Jake, the owner, hired him as a bouncer in exchange for his rent. She offered him a part-time bartender, but Jason said he wasn't a people person. She found out he had a head for numbers and offered to pay him to take inventory. He was agreeable.
Steven Webber
Steven was hired to work in the ER and completed his education in trauma surgery. He moves into Sarah's room.
Spencer/Cassidine Feud
Lucky Spencer and Nikolas Cassidine agree to put aside their feelings and focus on their sister. The same cannot be said about Luke Spencer and Stefan Cassidine.

General Hospital
Elizabeth wakes up
Emily sits with Elizabeth when she wakes up, crying out in pain. Emily pushes the call button. "Elizabeth, it's Emily. Do you want me to get your brother?" Elizabeth nods. Emily calls Steven, saying, "Elizabeth woke up; she wants to see you." Emily offers some water, and Elizabeth sips slowly.
Elizabeth's OB, Steve Audrey, and Steven arrive. Steven holds her hand. The OB explains Elizabeth's miscarriage. Her eyes well up, and a few tears fall down her face. "Elizabeth, your miscarriage didn't cause any severe damage. You will be able to have children. I want to keep you here for a few days, but your Grandmother and brother have offered to stay with you at home. If you have a medical professional with you, I can discharge you as early as tomorrow.
Alan and Monica offer their condolences. Elizabeth wants to see Jason, but he has moved out of Kelly's, and they don't know where he is staying.
Elizabeth is situated, and while not a medical professional, Emily sets up a volunteer schedule to assist Elizabeth if needed. Alan, Monica, Bobbie, Steven, and Audrey sign up. Emily shadows her parents, feels close to Elizabeth, and hopes Jason will show up. Nikolas shadows Steven.

AJ tells Steven needs a breather and suggests a bar break. Monica offers to take Steven's shift. Nikolas asks if he can go. Steven says, "You are not old enough to drink, and if you get carded, you are on your own." AJ recommends the PC Grille since his family has a partial investment in it. Steven laughs. "Have you ever been to a dive bar? That's all they had in Sarevjo. Dive bars have flavor. Get out of your comfort zone, Quartermaine. Live a little. A collegue recommened Jake's bar. It's close to GH."
Steven kisses Elizabeth on her head. "I'll be back before 10 pm."
Steven borrows Audrey's car. He hasn't had time to go to Boulder, pack up the house, and get his jeep and motorcycle to PC. Audrey's car is non-descript enough to fit in with the Jake's bar crowd. Steven pointed out that AJ's car would stick out like a sore thumb, begging to be stolen.
The trio arrive at Jake's and are surprised to see Jason at the front door. Jason points to Nikolas, "Is he over 21?" Nikolas turns to leave. "It's okay; if you are with them, you can stay."
AJ says, "Mom has been trying to find you. Are you working here?"
"Working and living. I have a room upstairs. What does Monica want?"
"Elizabeth woke up and wants to see you."
"Is she okay?"
"She's grieving. She found out she had lost the baby."
"Thanks for letting me know."
Steven feels like he's been slapped. "That's it? Thanks for letting me know?"
"Ah, Steven, Jason doesn't process emotion the same way we do."
"I know that, AJ. It's just that he's saying that about my sister."
Jason says, "Should I talk to Elizabeth? What do you want me to say?"
"Be honest, and don't lead her on. If you don't care about her or losing your child."
"Steven, I'm sorry. If it will help your sister, I'll stop to see her."
Jason follows Steve to the Hardy Home. Steven leaves her alone. "Elizabeth, if you need me, call out, and I'll come in."
Jason says, "Elizabeth, you seem intelligent and focused. I wish I could remember you, but I don't. I'm not the Jason you remember. I'm not Jason Quartemaine. I'm Jason Morgan."
"I know. You are not the Jason I remember. You are a different person. I find it sad you can't feel something that you helped create. Maybe one day, you'll have a different perspective. I wish you well, but I won't reduce myself to trying to change someone who doesn't want to change. Goodbye, Jason."
Jason leaves more confused than he walked in. He wanted to try to get to know the beautiful, smart, confident nurse, but she refused to be in second place.
Nikolas checks on his friend, who updates him on her decision. She says, "Nikolas, I need some space away from Jason. It's too painful to know he's in PC and doesn't remember me. I hope you can help me escape from PC for a while."
"Did you have a place in mind? How long would you like to be away."
"I don't know if you know about my other talent. I consider myself an amateur artist. I've always wanted to visit Italy and paint. I spoke with my Gramps and Grams, and my nursing job can wait until I'm ready to return. Once the doctors clear me, I want to leave PC. Can you help me?"
"Elizabeth, you helped save my sister and have been my friend. I'll do what I can to help. I'll convince my Uncle Stefan to use the family jet, and I have some contacts in Italy to get you settled."
3/10
Elizabeth has been given a clean bill of health and cleared to travel. Elizabeth saw Gail Baldwin for therapy, and Bobbie Spencer helped her build her strength. Lila Quartermaine requests a visit before Elizabeth leaves.
"Mrs. Quartermaine, it's lovely to see you again. I'm sorry I haven't been by for a visit. Emily has kept me updated."
"Elizabeth, darling, never apologize. Please call me Lila. I'd like you to meet my cousin, Chloe Morgan. She has her own design company, and when I told her about you, she offered to get you started on a wardrobe for your stay in Italy."
"It's nice to meet you, Elizabeth. I want to take measurements, and we can look through some designs. I have a shop in Italy, and the items will be waiting for you when you get there."
Emily enters and hands Elizabeth a Nikon camera with a telephoto lens. "This is from the family. Please take pictures and send some."
Emily laughs, "Lucky wanted to be included, and he's providing the 35mm film."
AJ is on hand, hugs her, and kisses her cheek. "I'll keep an eye on Jason."
"Please don't. I'm going to get away from Jason. I don't want to know what he's doing."
When Elizabeth returns home, goodbye gifts from Monica and Alan, Bobbie, Steven, and her grandparents are waiting for her. Elizabeth is overwhelmed and laughs, "I guess it's a good thing we're using Nikolas's family jet."
Robin heard from Alan that Elizabeth was flying to Italy. Robin calls her to apologize for not keeping in touch. "Elizabeth, before you leave, could you meet me at a bridge away from town?"
"Uh, okay. Are you alright?"
"Everything's fine. I wanted to show you a place that is special to me. I've been missing Stone, and maybe it could help you."
"Well, I'm leaving on the 15th, so I could come on the 14th." Robin gives her the directions. Elizabeth completes packing and says goodbye to the GH staff and patients. Steven gives her a ride to the Spencer home to say goodbye to her favorite patient. She spends time with Laura and LuLu. Before leaving, Elizabeth thanks Lucky for the film.
Luke waits until Elizabeth and Steven ride away. He whistles, "Cowboy, you might have to wait a few years before you can tap that."
Laura chastizes Luke. "Luke, that is not how we treat women. Lucky, I taught you to respect women, not objectify them."
Lucky laughs, "I know Mom."
3/14/1995
Elizabeth meets Robin on the bridge. Elizabeth says, "I'm glad you called. This is an interesting place. It has character."
Robin explains the significance. She tells Elizabeth about Stone and his bungee jumping off the bridge. A tear falls on her cheek. "He's been gone for almost three and a half months. I wish you could have met him."
"Jason told me about him and his brave fight. He said you are brave, too. Correction, Jason Quartermaine said you are brave. I don't know what Jason Morgan would say. Uhh, I've got an early flight. Thanks for showing me the bridge. I see the allure."
Elizabeth leaves, and Robin walks around the bridge, looking over the water. She reminisces about Stone. Jason sees Robin walking and decides to leave. He turns and steps on a branch, cracking it into pieces. He looks up, and Robin turns, and their eyes meet.
Jason apologizes and offers to leave. Robin says, "Okay, only if you want to. You can stay." They talk, and Robin says, "I was there when you woke up."
"I remember. You never came back."
"I'm sorry. I don't have a good excuse."
"You don't need one. I was lousy company."
When she tells him how long it's been since he woke up, he replies that he doesn't understand the concept of time. He explains that some people try to be patient and let him find his way, and others expect him to be like the man before his accident. He says, "There's something you do when talking to me that others don't."
"What's that?"
"Act like you are missing him when talking to me."
"Well, you are a different person." Robin introduces herself, "I'm Robin. It's nice to meet you."
Jason shakes her extended hand and says, "It's nice to meet you, too."
3/15/1995
Stefan argues with Nikolas about his traveling to Italy. "Nikolas, I agreed to the use of our jet. Ms. Webber was helpful to your sister. I did not agree with you accompanying her on the flight."
"Uncle, I am only helping her move into the villa. I'm flying back the next day."
Elizabeth said goodbye to everyone at the house, and Steven helped her load her things into the limo. "Lizzy, if you want to come home anytime, just call." He hugs and kisses his sister goodbye.
The limo arrives at the Cassidine hangar. An attendant loads Elizabeth's things onto the plane. Elizabeth brings her packages from Monica, Alan, and her family to the seats. She also brings her sketch pad.
The pilot announces departure, and Nikolas and Elizabeth settle in for the eight-hour flight.
