Kachina couldn't quite understand what Xianyun and Faruzan were doing with her Turbo Twirly construct. The two women had been examining it from every angle, debating its mechanics, and drawing up blueprints. They'd been at it so long that the Serenitea Pot went from day to night.
"Fascinating device," said Xianyun. "Did you build it yourself?"
"Oh, um, I guess so."
"Impressive," said Faruzan. "This phlogiston powers fuels all Natlan devices. How does it work?"
"Chief Pacal says it symbolizes our indomitable spirit."
"Weaponizing willpower," said Xianyun with a chuckle, "How ingenious."
Faruzan grew thoughtful. "Would it be possible to forge a device capable of manipulating phlogiston? Say, a much smaller, carriable device like for example… a ring?"
The mechanical madwomen grinned at the possibilities. Kachina just smiled and let them dream. Warriors wielding power through their rings? Pft, as if that could ever happen.
